I killed Rumei by critting him 7 times in Thracia 776 recently when trying to whittle him down . I mean seven times as in seven separate playthroughs of the map. Technically one of them was Leif proccing adept instead of a crit... but same difference. More so because that was the time I tried offloading Ced's scroll onto the boss to prevent crits. Nope, Leif still wants the kill. Basically I had to play chapter 8 a total of 8 times for a gaiden chapter. The tragedy of this is I had to sacrifice Halvan's move level. The comedy of it is that Leif has zero chill and apparently had to flat murder the first draco knight he saw in vengeance for his parents. 10/10 moment that I will never forget. Mostly because it took exactly 8 tries to capture the guy alive. Now I'm never going to be able to look at Chrom the same way. Reverse Oedipus moment.

Oracle of Ages/Seasons linked game says 7. Anyone else remember the pseudo-Donkey Kong section?

I'm just trying to find a hard drive that actually suits the Wii U's requirements (i.e, external power source, 2TB or less), before I go and pay out for eveything I still want on it. Or might want as a back up. Or intend to try (which basically amounts to Sin & Punishment and the Bonk games). Not easy because most external hard drives I've found available at stores do not match one criteria or the other. They're either too large (datawise), or have no external powersource.

There's some irony after all the trouble I had getting to Chapter 8x how smoothly the infamous Gomez went. Asbel oneshots him with Grafcalibur crit before he can even do anything. The end. Kind of an anti-climax after my luck with capturing Rumei. Is it actually available as a download game as opposed to just being part of switch online? I was planning to buy the Wii U eshop version before it went down.

Definitely something to be said for Thracia that I went through a chapter 8 times because of RNG and still had a fun time overall. The sheer ridiculousness of the situation made it all worth it. Hold on I gotta look up what the dialogue for the chapter is like.... oh lord. The script actually makes it funnier. Rumei's belief he's going to be killed and Leif insisting there's been enough blood spilled is so poetic. Rumei even apologizes for the trouble. This is beautiful. 10/10 Kaga. I love it.

After all of that, turns out all I needed to do (on attempt 8 natch) was have Finn just try and capture... and bank on him critting. Makes sense when you consider everyone else wouldn't stop.

Yes. I have given up a damn move level, levels where Leif got strength speed and defense, Ronan getting magic. ALL of it for a gaiden. This now accounts for 6 out the 7 resets since I started playing. I'm trying the Lifis/scroll strat this time. Because apparently that's the only way I'm not getting a crit.

I'd say mine does, but it's gotten past the point of being frustrating to the point of being hilarious that Leif has zero mercy about this guy. And Ronan when I tried a different strategy. I'm not even trying to see if I can get him with Othin or Halvan given their PCC.

The irony is that's what I've been doing. This is the fourth damn time he's crit with the light brand. Which isn't quite a kill... but if I've worn him down a bit... or he procs adept... it's just over. Plus I kind of gave Leif the magic ring because I wanted to up his light brand damage. Which isn't much... but it takes the thresh-hold down a bit for acceptable damage. Maybe Leif's just really, really mad about his parents today? After all, history with Dracoknights and all.

I'm beginning to think I'm better off just substituting in Lifis... and letting someone else take up Shiva's role in my strategy as a lure for the warrior so no one important cops poison. Maybe Marty.

How many damn times can a 6 percent crit proc?

Actually, Lifis has exactly 2 points of fatigue before he's forced out. By sheer luck. Didn't think about that. Might try it if I strike out a third time.

He's the boss in chapter 8 that starts dismounted. It's fine. I just don't know his name offhand because cart and my Japanese is meh at best. Bastard has enough defense from the gate that I really, really need to wittle him if I hope to capture him before he mounts. But I keep getting crits.

Fuck chapter 8 and fuck that Draco-knight. That's twice I've critted him to death trying to wittle him down for capturing. Twice. I have now lost a move level on Halvan, and at least one good level on Leif between the two runs. All because I want to actually play the gaiden chapters.

Interesting to note. I was aware of the remake of 1/2. Kind of intended to play that if I ever see it, simply because I kind of want to work out what the previous adventures from 3 were, seeing as the game did somewhat leave me wondering. Though now you tell me the timeline is a little less linear than all that. You don't see much of the series here. Even the one I have is a US version that someone imported at some unknown stage. I've seen Origin, VIII and IX on shelves over the years. I think I might have seen a copy of one or two on the Master System at some point. Never seen 4-7 though or the remakes though.

Apparently, having looked into it a bit more... it's the same story. Very different gameplay. The original is flat 2D and hard as nails... the remake.... is apparently based off the gameplay from YS VI. Which is weird. But then having played the original... I can totally see why you'd want to update the gameplay. Does make me wonder what playing the revision is like though, because the main thing I got from the original was the story to be honest... and the satisfaction of beating it.

The real question is... is it still a crit if it's 100% of the time? At that point wouldn't you just up the base attack?

I just got a really lucky con growth on him in chapter 4 while he was stealing vulneraries to keep everyone alive. Yet I apparently missed the first chance to use it.

He's got 7 con. Last I checked iron swords weight was 6. So if that's right he'd be able to do it. If it were strength based like Tellius.. he'd be out by two points.

Wait.. it's strength? For some reason I thought con was the stat needed. Guess it's a moot point then.
