He was probably trying to distract them so they wouldn't think about it too hard. He knew Byleth and Jeralt wouldn't put 2 and 2 together. Plus, Dedue and Hilda do the same thing on their paths.

Unintentional Lunatic Mode Situations
Sid Starkiller replied to Eltoshen's topic in Fire Emblem: Three Houses
That's exactly what I meant, actually. Considering how many complaints I've seen that getting Edelgard's route is too hard (It's not. At all.), I wouldn't put it past people to skip the dialogue and not check his stats. -
Unintentional Lunatic Mode Situations

This mostly applies to Chapter 4 on a first playthrough, but fighting the Death Knight unprepared. If you assume he's on the level of the other opponents and take a swing, he can massacre your team if they're not overleveled. -
The goddess, yes, but you can believe in the goddess without agreeing with the church. I can't see Marianne fighting in the war on her own at all. Assuming she's still alive (she may have committed suicide or been killed because of her crest), she would spend the rest of her days in isolation. She only fights in ANY route because being alongside you gave her a bit of self-confidence.

"Who do you get to kill" topic (spoilers)
Sid Starkiller replied to timon's topic in Fire Emblem: Three Houses
I exclusively fought Claude with Edelgard (I like to use the lords to fight the lords, it seems appropriate) and got the option to spare. -
Characters you recruited in every playthrough?

Dorothea and Caspar. I absolutely refuse to kill them. -
On the one hand, I could easily see her tasking Linhardt and/or Hanneman with finding a SAFE way to remove crests. She definitely wouldn't subject people to a process like what she went through, since part of the point is that she doesn't want anyone else to go through that. On the other, she doesn't HAVE to remove crests literally, all she needs to do is lessen their value through social reform. She doesn't want the possession or lack thereof of a crest to be the be-all-end-all of people's existence. Hence wanting to establish a meritocracy, so that people are put in positions they're actually good at.

Haha. She's a recluse. Wait, that's kind of messed up.

That's the fault of the support system in general, not Bernadetta specifically. Although I think she does have one big moment of character development (that sadly is wasted by not happening in every route). In CF during the timeskip, fighting alongside her old friends that strengthened her resolve, just a bit. In Part 1, she is ALWAYS in her room, minus when Jeralt has just died, to put some flowers on his grave. Post-timeskip in CF, she REGULARLY can be found outside of her room. She's finally started to get used to, even close to, her classmates. I was actually pissed when I played GD and saw her hiding in her room the whole time again. -
1: Dimitri blames Edelgard for the death of his mother due to the manipulations of Slither. Would YOU marry your mother's killer? 2: Rhea's mission isn't done. Yeah Sothis inhabits Byleth's body, but she's not the one in control. Was giving them the Sword of the Creator and seating them on Sothis's throne not intending to awaken her mother in control of Byleth's body?

1: The crest system has brought a great deal of suffering to the masses (tons of character's backgrounds can be boiled down to either "My life sucks because I'm seen as worthless for not having a crest" or "My life sucks because I'm basically a commodity for having a crest"). 2: The crest system was Rhea's tool for bringing her mother back to life (she needed Sothis's crest stone and some DNA to make her host bodies, and I assume she imposed the crest system in order to observe the effects of crests on human physiology). Those two things together mean: 3A: Rhea is technically responsible for the suffering of the masses, whether commoner or noble. 3B: Edelgard cannot get rid of crests without killing Rhea (Rhea is so hellbent on getting her mother back that she will never stop until either she dies or Sothis finally possesses Byleth). Which leads me to: 4: Edelgard cannot kill Rhea without fighting the church (don't for one minute think that Seteth or Catherine would ever just hand her over).

Favorite Gameplay Moments?

Critting an enemy and dealing 180 damage... ...when he had 4 HP left. There's no "kill" like "overkill." -

How do the NG+ exclusive crest stones work?
Sid Starkiller replied to DragonFlames's topic in Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Yes, you would have access to both. Apparently you can also do this to buy gender-restricted class mastery skills for Byleth. -
Comparing Crest effects
Sid Starkiller replied to Sid Starkiller's topic in Fire Emblem: Three Houses
I know, but I've made the arbitrary decision to pick one and stick with it. Well, if they haven't been tested, I'll pick one myself. Thanks anyway, guys. -
To start: hello, I'm new here. At some point just for fun, I want to do a Caspar-only run of the game. Since he doesn't have a crest, I figured I'd give him one of the NG+ crest items, and was trying to decide which one to give him (I know you can give more than one, but I don't want to). Copied the list from the wiki into a Word doc so I can remove them as I go. Problem is some crests have the same effect, so I need to know if there's differences in activation rates or potency. Do we have specific info on that stuff?
