  1. I really don't like Tharja, though she's a love-her-or-hate-her kind of character so that's not particularly uncommon. Lucina also bores me, though I don't exactly dislike her; I just don't see why she's so universally adored. On the flipside, I love Yarne. I've heard a lot of complaints about him being annoying or one-note, but I feel he's the right kind of annoying, and he has some of the best battle lines the game has to offer. "Bunny KICK!" "My foot is good luck!" "No, YOU go extinct!" I could go on, but at that point I'd be quoting every single one of his lines. Oh, and Kjelle. I don't even see why people dislike her. Kicks ass, takes names, takes shit from no one, might be a lesbian? What's not to love? Apparently a lot, I suppose, if much of the fandom is to be believed.
  2. There are a lot of FE13 characters who can solo the game, Robin just does it more efficiently. Chris carries the entire game on his/her shoulders.
  3. Miriel/Gaius: "You can do card tricks? ALLOW ME TO BEAR YOUR PROGENY RIGHT NOW!" Nowi/Lon'qu: You know, I don't even hate Nowi that much. But when you go from playing house with a minor to proposing actual marriage, it's really creepy. The worst part is that it's an adorable support for the first three ranks, and the S support retroactively ruins the entire thing. Nah/Laurent: Nah's generally intolerable, but I'll let some of her supports slide by virtue of being funny. This one, though, just annoyed me. Frederick/Cherche: Possibly the least interesting support in the game. Yes, it actually beats Chrom/Sumia in that regard. For the record, I give the latter pairing a pass because of Cynthia's greatness. Gerome/Anyone: This guy deserves to be alone. Well, his pairing with Lucina is fine. But he's generally just such a dick that I would rather let him brood on his own, on my bench.
  4. Marrying Emmeryn is really, really, really creepy. That's my take on it. I mean, how would you feel if your best friend started hitting on your mentally retarded sister? You'd want to punch him, right?
  5. "Now... Face Gregor!" "This is your last dance!" "I am SO STRONG!" And particularly, anything from Yarne: "I've got sharp, pointy teeth!" "Don't mess with a bunny!" "No, YOU go extinct!
  6. I voted Henry, not because he's my favorite; he's probably third behind Donny and Gregor; but because I wanted to vote for someone that had a chance of beating Lucina. I'm not a big fan of Lucina. She kinda bores me.
  7. I sided with the green army because I was underleveled for the chapter, wanted to recruit Yarne ASAP (totally worth it, Yarne is amazing), and didn't want my Griffon Rider Panne to deal with all the Bow Knights. Next time, I'll fight both.
  8. It's probably better off that way, though. Unrequited love is the entire point. Can you imagine having a character who's entire personality is that they're obsessed with another character, and then have those two characters actually get married? It just wouldn't feel right. Oh, hello there, Tharja. Why are you looking at me like that?
  9. Lucina's fashion sense is clearly ahead of its time.
  10. I'll confirm that I've fought Streetpass teams with multiple Avatars. Never seen one with DLC or Spotpass, so yeah, that's probably a bug.
  11. I liked Ephraim!Lyon and Trabant the best, I would say. I only like that route's version of Lyon, though, mostly because we don't actually see Lyon on Eirika's route; we see Formortiis. I really liked the Ephraim version of Lyon, though, for actually trying and often succeeding in controlling the demon king. And pretending to be possessed in order to keep Riev in line was a stroke of genius, too. He's an interesting character, and in a rarity for the series, the game is actually rather subtle about it. Trabant, meanwhile, is very similar to Arvis, and I'd even say that the two are sort of mirrors to each other. Both of them killed Gen 1 main characters through some form of treachery. Both of them became kings. They both take extreme actions to do what they think is best for their countries. They even look rather similar; if it wasn't for their hair colors, you could hardly tell them apart. The main difference, and the reason I like Trabant more; is that Trabant understands the implications of his actions. While Arvis deludes himself into believing that betraying Sigurd and becoming Emperor was the right thing to do, even as his empire crumbles as a direct result, Trabant realizes that he is a terrible person for what he did to Cuan and Ethlin. And when his adopted daughter seemingly dies for it, it inspires him to lead his suicidal charge against Seliph's group. And he knew that it was suicide, too; he didn't even bring the Gungnir with him. Trabant just had a surprising amount of depth for having a much smaller role in the story than Arvis did.
  12. ...Wow. I'm not trying to sound disrespectful here, but this might be the wrongest post I've seen in my entire life. I disagree with every single point here. Except for the FE10 one, thanks to the Black Knight retcon, but even then, that game's localization was a bit lacking on other fronts.
  13. I'd say the Henry/Cherche support proves that there's a good bit more to Henry than he lets on, but he's just really good at hiding it.
  14. I feel that it's slightly more convenient; no more looking through everyone's inventories for that one item you need; but it took a while for me to get used to.
  15. Doesn't the Cordelia/Donny C Support mention Caeda as someone who fought for the first exalt? Wouldn't that mean that Marth was the first exalt?
  16. I don't think any of the Spotpass chapters are canon. They just exist to provide more characterization for a few more of the game's characters. At least, that's how I rationalize it so I don't get angry about certain scenes losing their impact.
  17. It might be possible to tier Gen 1 characters, but with the number of possibilities for Gen 2, I don't think they can be tiered. Though in a Lunatic list, they'd probably all be bottom tier anyway. Maybe with Brady at his own special place below that.
  18. I thought that the "Kill Grima forever" ending was kind of a cop-out, since the game makes it abundantly clear that you won't actually die, so there's no real reason to choose the other option. If it was an actual self-sacrifice ending, I think it would've been much better. But I recognize that it would've been difficult, being that there's a postgame.
  19. Haven't paired everybody yet, but the ones I managed to do during the main game are: Chrom x Maribelle: I wasn't using any of Chrom's other potential wives, so he had to go with this one to avoid the Generic Village Girl. Was better than nothing, but I wasn't a big fan of the pairing, or the Lucina that I got as a result. I eventually dumped Maribelle in favor of other staff users. I didn't use Brady, either. At least Chrom had a good conversation with him. Vergil (Avatar) x Miriel: I went in expecting to marry Anna, or maybe Lucina. But then as a mage Avatar, I found myself pairing with Miriel all the time for the Mag bonuses, enjoying the hell out of her support conversations, and eventually deciding to go ahead and S rank her. Totally worth it for her dialogue in the S Support. "By the transitive property, I am yours." The Laurent I got out of it was pretty amazing, too. Morgan was also quite good, but I'm still working on making her a Dark Pegasus after having gone through Dark Knight for Lifetaker. Frederick x Panne: They found themselves teamed up often enough, and I liked Panne helping Frederick get over his fears. I eventually dumped Frederick from my party, but since Panne was my best Gen 1 character, I ended up with a Yarne who was a literal beast. He eventually managed to overtake his mother as my team's strongest member. Lissa x Stahl: I don't know exactly why they were paired up. I think I just wanted to support Lissa with somebody, anybody, before I gave her the boot. The supports were completely unmemorable, too. What I do remember is making Stahl an Assassin, passing Lethality to Owain, and watching him do the flashy anime super move that he was always meant to do. Owain was one of my heaviest hitters. Nowi x Lon'qu: Ugh at the supports. The progression of playing house into getting married was exactly what I was afraid of. I supported them entirely for the purpose of getting a Nah with Astra, and at least on that front she did not disappoint. Nah was probably my second strongest character by the end, beating out Panne by virtue of not jobbing to arrows and wind magic all the time (Panne was a Griffon Rider). Tharja x Libra: Paired them for the hell of it, found myself very interested in learning more of Libra's backstory, and so I kept them together. The support conversations were pretty great, but I dropped Tharja from the team and Libra stuck around only for his Staff rank. So Noire ended up as a subpar archer in a side chapter full of powerful enemies with forged weapons. I still haven't actually recruited her yet. I probably should, I like what I've seen of her personality. Gen 2 Pairings: Lucina x Owain: Wouldn't be Fire Emblem without at least a little incest! Plus, I like seeing Owain's actual personality take the center stage in this support, rather than his melodramatic persona. Yarne x Morgan: Poor, poor Yarne. They make an adorable couple, though, despite (or maybe because of) Morgan's casual sadism. Laurent x Nah: Haven't started it yet, but they're the only two Gen 2 characters I have left that I'm still using, so they'll be paired eventually. I also used Anna, Say'ri, Tiki, Basilio, and Flavia at different points in the game, but they weren't exactly permanent fixtures on the team. Just filler when I needed them.
  20. I tried to be hybrid (+Spd -HP), but I never found a situation where I would want to use a sword over magic. So Vergil ended up with an A rank in magic and an E rank in swords.
  21. I'd say it's probably only worth Master Sealing first if you really want to get the skills from the promoted class, such as with Tactician --> Grandmaster. And even then, s/he'll be underwhelming compared to a Second Sealed character.
  22. I don't know if this will prove you wrong, but I have a soft spot for this one.
  23. Went in planning on either Anna or Lucina, and then I ended up marrying Miriel. No regrets there. When I play as a female character? Probably Inigo. Or maybe Libra.
  24. I don't think there's any situation where you'd want to take Veteran off of Avatar, so I'm a bit confused on the separate placement for non-Veteran.
