  1. Although a Fire Emblem game may be far from our favourite in the series, I think most would agree that every game has something likable about it. So, as the title says, what is the thing you like the most about your least favourite Fire emblem game? For me, Sacred Stones is my least favourite Fire Emblem game but I love the villains. Lyon is one of very few Fire Emblem main antagonists that I actually like and the majority of the minor villains are pretty entertaining too (Caellech, Selena, Valter ect.)
  2. Were there any characters through the games that you wished could have joined your team but didn't? They can be as relevant or irrelevant as you wish. As long as they are unplayable, they are fair game for the choosing. For me, I was really interested in Mustafa and Philia until they were killed off. Phila in particular looked like she would have been a great counterpart for Frederick. I liked Guinevere from FE6 and Greil from FE9. It would have been cool to use them for at least a map or something. Oh well.
  3. I'm curious about what other peoples opinions are on the worst unit in awakening. My choice would be tharja when playing lunatic mode, I'm talking about how bad she is when she firsts joins you.
  4. FE2 really does not get mentioned much in this board, which is very curious. So I'm wondering; what do people who've played it think? Personally, I love a lot of what it tries, because despite being ancient it was still extremely fresh to play through because of how unique it was and has still managed to be. It's fairly dated but its music and graphics honestly aren't terrible by any means imo (they grew on me), and the gameplay was still quite enjoyable. The two paths with Alm and Celica is one of my favourite dynamics of the game, and I wish they replicated this in Sacred Stones. Probably not my favourite FE, and definitely not my least favourite, but I still adore it.
  5. Ok everyone, E3 is here! With all sorts of hype going around (with the presentation from Betheda last night increasing it), I just wanted to see what others were hoping to see in 2015 E3 and how you feel about it after everything is shown and done. While I am focusing on Nintendo, if you guys want to bring up other companies' presentation, go right ahead (just please don't start a war in the fourms, thank you). I really want to see what other people's opinion are! While I will give my thoughts and opinions later, I will say that Bethesda (and the Nintendo World Championship) started things out pretty well (even if FPS's aren't really my thing)!
  6. ZeRo who is pretty much one of the absolute best players of Smash 4 decided to do a small video series on what he thinks the tier list looks like currently. He states its even his opinion, and that it may not be right, but here we go. Top https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omU3zzwIMlw High Mid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5vl2gtLQuc Now he's gone off tournament results and his own experience. Characters who didn't reach it up to mid even he admits it's partly due to lack of dedicated players trying to learn their best options and just simply results not always going in their favor. His list at a glance is. S Tier: Sheik, Rosalina, Luigi, Pikachu A+ Tier: Diddy, Ness, Mii Brawler, Sonic A- Tier: Villager, Fox, Zero Suit Samus, Mario B+ Tier: Olimar, Captain Falcon, Yoshi, Pit/Dark Pit, Wario C+ Tier: ROB, Palutena, Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Meta Knight, Kirby, Greninja C- Tier: Duck Hunt, Bowser Jr., Mega Man, Little Mac, Lucario, Shulk, Bowser Low and Bottom Tiers (not in order): Peach, Game and Watch, Link, Zelda, Ganondorf, Toon Link, Samus, Marth, Ike, Robin, King Dedede, Falco, Charizard, Jigglypuff, Wii Fit Trainer, Dr Mario, Lucina, Mewtwo, Mii Gunner and Mii Swordfighter
  7. So after an interview http://serenesforest.net/fire-emblem-if/4gamer-interview/this one, in particular, I felt like sharing my overall feelings on how this game will proceed. There are 3 paths to cover so that's quite a bit of ground. First off we have Hoshido, the noble, Japanese inspired country who is proclaimed as peace-loving. If you don't mind for a moment, I'm just gonna go fanboy for a moment, Hoshido's designs are incredibly slick and awesome. I love Asian designs and culture to begin with, Kozaki has made some awesome designs for this side. *Ahem* these people are Kamui's family, and that's as much obligation to them as we get, Hoshido's route has been confirmed as The easiest of the three routes. Despite this I have a feeling it'll give people a good run on Hard and Lunatic/Lunatic+ IS did Awakenings gameplay well, complaints aside the maps were a bit simplistic, mostly being rout and defeat boss. Hoshido looks to continue this style, however with Awakening behind them, I think IS can design some more interesting maps around the 2 concepts. I remain hopeful, Hoshido also has the world map ala Gaiden, Sacred Stones and Awakening. Which will help newer players and those who just want to have fun grind up. The story of this route, I will assume, is that Kamui chooses his/her family over their Nohr "family", which will greatly sadden them, the plot will most likely be pretty simple, it being, Nohr's emperor has gone mad with power and wishes to take Hoshido, and you aren't about to let that happen, although this would be INCREDIBLY simple, Tellius was simple and yet done incredibly well in PoR, even with moral greyness, Hoshido will probably have some hidden secrets such as, why was Kamui in Nohr? The secrets of his/her dragon blood, and tragic battles with his/her old Nohr comrades. Although the monsters seen in the trailer indicate there may be another side to this entire conflict, either that or Hoshido OR Nohr has a very dark secret. Secondly we have Nohr, the glory seeking, European looking country. The designs are.. hit and miss to me (Camilla i'm looking at you, try a little less hard with the fanservice guys.. like I've seen DoA girl designs look more sensible). Marx, Blarth and co do look pretty rocking though. These people are who Kamui grew up with, and likely is familiar with their customs and ways (duh). Nohrs route has been confirmed as the hardest of the three routes. This is most likely due to IS wishing to appeal more to their veteran fanbase outside of fanservice in Awakening this time around, we have various objectives and a more complicated story in this route. I think we can expect much more stage variety and hazards such as possibly the old Fog of War mechanic making a return. Hopefully the difficulty will be as good as New Mystery, Sword of Seals and Thracia. We have no world map, and this may be intimidating for the ones coming off of Awakening, although I think casual mode is returning for all routes. There is also the situation of "paralogues", I have the personal feeling that Nohr will have the older style method of gaining Gaidens, such as "win in such in such amount of turns" etc, while Hoshido will have paralogues like Awakening, open to whenever you can access them. The story (I hope to see anyways), is Kamui in this route leading a small coup in Garons forces as he/she fights Hoshido convincingly enough to not have the Emperor be suspicious of him/her, later a civil war as Kamui discovers the truth about him/herself, and their dragonic heritage, Hoshido will be damaged by this conflict but not outright destroyed as Kamui tries to change Nohr for the "better", although he/she may have to pull some drastic moves.. Hoshido may pull some itself.. In the middle of this conflict we have Aqua a mysterious dancer, is she who allows Kamui to find out about his/her Hoshido people? Does she have some mysterious power? We still are unsure, however I have a huge feeling she is key to the plot of ANY of the three routes. And then we have route 3, ??? as of now, all we know is It's the middle of the road. Difficulty wise. It will likely fuse parts of both Hoshido and Nohr's route. Likely this is a 3rd route where Kamui will either unite the causes of his two families against the mysterious Nosferatu or some unknown other objective. Likely we shall get a mix of Hoshido and Nohr characters and maybe some 3rd route only characters. I have a feeling Aqua will play her biggest role in this route, and be overall the "happy" ending, however I am honestly not sure, it could be the most tragic for all I know. How the mixture of routes will apply to gameplay I have no clue, more unique objectives with a map? Among other things. So yeah thats my personal feelings/hopes on the matter.
  8. Hey, guys! Been playing Awakening again and I wondered what my personal favourite characters were. So I came up with this topic (yes, it's original!!! /sarcasm). If this exists somewhere already, then you (admins) have my sincere apologies and are free to close/delete this topic (if you're fine with it, that's fine too :D) So... what are your favourite Fire Emblem Awakening characters? It can be for any reason: stats, personality, design, whatever you like about them. Here are my personal top ten: 1 Avatar (both genders) (yeah, obviously) 2 Sumia (sweet, kind, strong and pretty? Yes, please!) 3 Nowi (because she has an adorable personality) 4 Say'ri (female Swordmaster. I'm sold!) 5 Chrom (yes, I genuinely like Chrom's character) 6 Severa (holy crap! Killing machine!) 7 Morgan (both genders) (see above) 8 Nah (see above) 9 Lissa (an adorable prankster. I wish she was my little sister) 10 Frederick (LOL! just... LOL!)
  9. Hey, you guys. Sorry, if I should have put this topic up in another part of the forum, but I'm fairly new here, so I apologize in advance, if this is the wrong place for something like this. I have recently browsed through a lot of forums regarding Fire Emblem and some other video games and I have come across a very, very disturbing thing. Opinions aren't acceptable anymore. Is it just me, or did anyone else see something like this: Post: Oh, boy. FE:A is my favourite Fire Emblem! Reply: Go away. FE:A is stupid crap *more people join in and bash on Guy A* I mean, wow, right? Of course, not everyone is like this (and I don't, I repeat I DON'T want to offend anyone personally, so please hear me out on this one). The above is just an example. It could also be replaced with anything. Pokémon's first generation for example. If you see someone innocently state that Gen 1 is their favourite, you can expect a chain of comments bashing this person for stating his/her opinion. I know, it sounds like I'm whining, but something like this can be very personal to some. I myself said something and the very next day I had a chain of comments below my original post that bashed me for having this very opinion (that opinion being Charizard being my personal favourite Pokémon). It seems to be a common thing across the internet nowadays. Certain opinions are not acceptable anymore. It says something that I myself am scared to admit that Charizard is my favourite Pokémon or that my favourite game is Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World (after Fire Emblem Awakening of course). Did you ever feel that way with something you liked that the rest of the fanbase didn't? Did you ever get bashed for stating your opinion? I guess I just want to know if I'm alone on this one or if anyone out there agrees with me that this is truly frightening. And again, I apologize if this is the wrong section.
  10. Hi! I'm still new to this board so forgive me if this is not the correct place to put this topic. I've always thought it'd be cool if someone did video analysis' on charcters from Fire Emblem Awakening and talk about sets to run on them (sort of like those pokemon videos you see sometimes). I was surprised to find out no one makes them so I decided to try my own hand at it. Now I know it in no way looks "professional" or especially well-made but I put all i could into it with the resources I had and I'm fairly pleased with the result. I decided to do the episode on a very popular pairing/unit, Lon'qu!Severa. Any and all advice I could use to make this better is great! However I would prefer ADVICE! Not comments just saying "Oh this stinks" and "You shouldn't be making these cause your voice is annoying". I want helpful advice. This video was made using Windows Movie Maker (I know. The horror) and some quick drawings on my paint system. Thank you for any help you can provide as it is much appreciated! Thank you! :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lr-kW3OSZ9U
  11. So if you've looked into gaming news recently the Wii U has sold 9.2 million units in two years which is lagging behind the Gamecube and even the Sega Dreamcast at this point in time. This is after we've had a 2D and 3D Mario game, after Mario Kart 8, and after Super Smash Bros 4. Third party support continues to dwindle because of the underpowered hardware and Nintendo's general alienation of third parties altogether. Its also worth noting that the videogame market was not as big then as it is now. As you all know Nintendo had a rocky start to this generation with meager sales of its home console. The 3DS recovered in a big way and is now dominating the handheld market due to heavy hitters but it too started off in much the same way. It doesn't stop there though. Nintendo has proceeded to make controversial and very nonsensical business decisions. One of them being their recent move to create a network on youtube that gives 70% of the profits to the user to let ads be posted (many networks provide much better rates btw) without fear of being copyrighted by Nintendo for using footage of their games in videos. This follows the mass of copyright claims they made earlier in the year. Despite youtube users practically giving free advertising for their games (which they desperately need) through lets plays, footage, etc...they seem to proceed to alienate what seems to be a loyal and active consumer base. Then there is the amiibo debacle in the US. Granted they are selling like hotcakes but Nintendo has done nothing to recitfy the supply causing scalping to skyrocket and a loss in profits they could otherwise have. They already have sites set up to order amiibo from them for standard retail price in NOE, Australia, and in Japan but not in the US. Why the hell not? This is not a I hate Nintendo thread or post. Quite the contrary, its I'm concerned as all hell thread and wondering if anyone else has noticed similar things as of late? I personally think that losing Nintendo or Nintendo fading into irrelevancy could be one of the worst things for the industry. One its less competition but Nintendo also produces unique experiences you can't find anywhere else (Fire Emblem just being one such example). This is purely a disscussion thread and I'm wondering if anyone has noticed these unsettling facts. Please refrain from flamming others or igniting a flame war that dosen't need to be around. EDIT: If this is the wrong place to put this I apologize. If its more fitting in the Debates section or Entertainment have at it Mods.
  12. I've seen this happen far to often. Someone talks about something they know nothing about. It makes no sense to me. Please relate to subject. Edit: Yes this has gone to far off. Not yet.
  13. The marriages: Avatar x Cynthia (Never married her) Chrom x Olivia (That's cool) Henry x Sumia (My wife will have white hair) Vaike x Tharja (Sniper-Counter Noire) Stahl x Lissa (I like the supports, Owain gets Luna) Frederick x Nowi (I'm not sure, really) Libra x Cherche (Blond Gerome, he will make a decent support unit) Gaius x Miriel (Um. Ok?) Ricken x Sully (Sad Face) Donnel x Panne (Pretty good, imo) Kellam x Maribelle (It's good) Virion x Cordelia (Severa's hair color) These are terrible. x) The challenge: Hard/Classic Pair Up will be allowed I will use only Bronze Weapons. Maybe Iron. No Anna shops No risen spawn battles No barracks 0 renown start No sol No nosferatu No dance abuse (So I can't grind Olivia?) Any complaints?
