  1. Severa sighed as she looked out the inn’s fog-covered window. Dots of snow sprinkled down over a blanket of white from the dark night sky. A candle flickered from the edge of her nightstand before she turned to look at the calendar that hung on the wall. If all went well, she should reach Ylisstol by tomorrow afternoon. She sighed and flopped back on the bed. Her clear amber eyes gazed up at the dark and empty ceiling. Tomorrow really was the day, wasn’t it? But would they be celebrating her birthday? Or her birthday? It’s most likely the ladder. What the hell was she even expecting?! It’s doubtful anyone would even notice her. They’d be too focused on that other girl to pay her any mind. Why was she even going? She didn’t belong with them. They weren’t her parents. She was nothing more than a stranger to them. She turned her head to look at the ruby-encrusted ring that sparkled in the faint glow of the candlelight. Memories of their smiling faces filled her head as she shot up to sit at the edge of the bed. Perhaps, she should just not show up. What would the point be? With her there, it would just be really awkward. She should just run the other way and not look back. It’s not like anyone would miss her… Severa sighed and looked outside the window once more. Why was she even still in this world? She didn’t belong here, none of them did. She should just disappear and just have everyone forget about her. It would be better that way. It’d be better if everyone just forgot. She took a moment to look at the ring again and then down to the clearly worn-out scarf around her neck. With one last sigh, she blew out the candle and went to sleep. --- “HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SEVERA!!!” A bunch of voices echoed into the seven-year old’s ears as she blew out her candles. A resounding flood of cheers flooded the room as she did so. Severa closed her eyes and smiled as an indescribable feeling of warmth filled her heart. “So what’d you wish for?” She heard her sister ask. “That’s a secret” Severa giggled. “Oh come on! You can tell me, right?” Severa shook her head, “Nope if I tell anyone then it won’t come true” Morgan raised an eyebrow, “Is that really true?” She looked up at their father sitting beside her. “Is that true daddy?” Their father chuckled, “It certainly is from what I’m told, though I don’t personally put much stock into superstitions” Morgan tilted her head, “Supersitons?” She blinked. “Superstitions,” Their father said again though this time slower so his daughter could understand, “It means believing in something that isn’t real” “But wouldn’t that make it not true?” Morgan narrowed her eyes. Their father froze, “Well...I…uhhhh...” “Well regardless of if it’s true or not,” Their mother said as she placed a slice of cake in front of the two, “If Severa does not want to reveal what she wished for, then she doesn’t have to” She gave Severa a slice of cake and smiled down at her eldest daughter. “Thanks, mommy” Severa said as she took a bite of cake. “Anyway, Morgan wasn’t there something you wanted to give to your sister?” their father asked. “Was there something?” She crossed her arms and closed in thought. “Oh right!” She said before rummaging around the inside of a small pouch. Severa looked over at her little sister as she pulled out a small paper bag. The little redhead hopped out of her chair and skipped towards her older sister. “Happy birthday, Sev” She said as she handed the bag over to Severa. Severa’s fingers sunk into the bag as she took it from her sister. Whatever was inside, it was soft, probably some kind of clothing item. She gazed down at the package decorated with various ribbons. “Go on open it!” She looked up at Morgan who was practically vibrating with anticipation, “Come on, come on!!” Severa frowned, “Fine, sheesh no need to be so impatient,” She said as she untied the red ribbons wrapped around the present. She opened the top and pulled out a long snow-white scarf. Severa blinked for a moment and looked back at her sister. “So, what do you think?” She asked as she bounced in excitement, “Mommy and I spent all week working on it, oh and daddy even helped pick out the color” Severa looked over to her mother who smiled back. “We noticed your old one was getting a little worn so Morgan had the idea that we should all help make you a new one” Morgan nodded her head. “What are you waiting for? Put it on, already!” Severa wrapped the scarf around her neck. Cozy and warm was the only way she could describe how it felt. The soft wool pressed up against her cheeks like a mother hugging her child. She ran a couple of fingers through the scarf and felt every little knot and nuance. She smiled, “Thanks Morgan, I love it” She then looked at her mom, “and you too mommy” “Hey what about me?” Her father spoke up. Morgan turned and frowned at her father, “You barely helped though…” “I helped pick out the color didn’t I?” He said, “I’m also the one who got the cake, don’t I get some credit?!” “Yeah but that’s all you did!” Morgan crossed her arms. “I was busy this week, alright!” He said with a flush of red cheeks, “But I suppose you’re right” He said with a sigh of defeat. Morgan puffed out her chest at her victory. “That’s right!” Severa along with her mother could only laugh as Morgan shot down her father. “Well regardless of how much we each contributed…” He said as he stood up and walked over to Severa. He knelt down so that they were at eye-level. He smiled and placed his hand on her head, “We all love you Severa, so happy birthday” For a moment, Severa was silent as a flood of warmth cascaded through her body. For once, no one was berating her. No one gave her looks of contempt or disappointment. No one was telling her she wasn’t good enough. For once, they all simply smiled and said… That they love me… Severa closed her eyes and smiled, “Thanks daddy” ----- Severa yawned and rubbed her eyes as she rose from her bed. She squinted to try and protect her eyes from the piercing sunlight that sliced through the window. With another yawn and a long stretch, Severa slid out of bed and slowly got dressed. “There we go,” She said as she slid her second pigtail through her hair clip. She took a moment to inspect herself and nodded, “Alright, looks great” For a moment, Severa simply stood in front of the mirror with a quizzical look. She couldn’t put her finger on it but it felt like she was forgetting something. Her mind wandered for a moment when a certain chill around her neck reminded her of what it was. Where’d my scarf go?! Severa’s heart momentarily stopped as she frantically scrambled around the room in a desperate attempt to find her missing scarf. “Come on, where is it? Where is it?” She said as she tossed a flurry of pillows and sheets behind her. Her face lit up as she spotted a dirtied and frayed piece of fabric on the floor. She quickly grabbed the old and tattered scarf and pulled it close. She found it. Severa wrapped the scarf around her neck. It may have been old and worn but it still felt just as cozy and warm as the day she got it. Though it was torn in several areas and the once snow-white shine was now a dreary beige. Still, it was special to her. It’s helped keep her warm even after all these years. Though, she could stand to fix it up a bit. She shook her head. She could worry about that later. Right now, all she had to worry about was getting to Ylisstol before dark. ------ “Finally made it,” Severa said as she approached the capital city’s entrance. A cacophony of footsteps, shouts, and murmurs all filled the air as Severa made her way through Ylisstol’s crowded city streets. A thin sheet of snow crunched under her foot with every step. It certainly was lively today. She closed her eyes and scrunched inward as a cool breeze ruffled through her snow-white hair. Why did it have to be so damn cold?! She should probably find someplace to rest. A nice warm bowl of soup didn’t sound too bad either. She took a moment to rummage inside her travel pouch and pulled out a small coin purse. She checked it’s contents and sighed. “Not much left” She muttered to herself. No surprise there, mercenary work has been rather scarce as of late what with the current state of peace and colder weather. The stay at the inn nearly cleaned her out. Severa reached into her bag once more and pulled out her old tattered scarf linked to a bright white string of yarn that extended back into the bag. She knew she shouldn’t have bothered spending money on that yarn ball. The work she did on it wasn’t even good either. It wasn’t even close to the level of quality it was originally. That’s to be expected though, it was made by her mother so of course, anything she made wouldn’t measure up. She sighed again as she heard her stomach grumble. Severa looked back at her near-empty coin purse. It looked like she had just enough for some pastries and a cup of tea. That should be enough to tide her over until… Severa’s body immediately went stiff as she recalled the reason that she was here. Why did she even come? They were just gonna ignore her anyway. And with her being there, it’ll just get awkward fast. Maybe she should just go hide out somewhere for the rest of the day, it’s not like anyone would notice. But where would she even go? What would she do? For a moment, she glanced back at the scarf in her other hand. “Thanks again” Severa’s entire body froze at the sudden sound of a familiar voice. “Come on you two, we have to get going” Severa slowly lifted her head to see her ‘mother’ walk out of a small shop. Two short yet eerily familiar figures followed after her. “B-But mommy, I want a brownie!” The figure with long white hair said as she ran after her mother. “We just got you a cake, Severa,” Her mother said, “Don’t you think that’s enough?” “Yeah but that’s not till later!” Her mother sighed, “Can’t you just be a little patient?” “Yeah, Sev be patient!” The younger looking redhead spoke up. “B-But I thought you said I could have whatever I wanted on my birthday!” The younger Severa crossed her arms and pouted. “Severa,” Her mother said with a hard stare. Severa looked to the floor, “fine...I can wait” “Geez, what a brat…” Severa muttered as she watched her younger self. Was she always that whiney? She knew she was always a bit selfish but... She then noticed her mother’s head begin to turn in her direction. Crap! They’re coming this way! I can’t let them see me! Severa thought to herself as her head frantically darted around the area, Uhh…I gotta hide! Over there! Severa quickly stuffed everything back in her bag and sprinted into a nearby alleyway. -------- “That was close” Severa breathed a sigh of relief. She rested her back against a wall and slumped to the ground. Puffs of crystallized air formed from her lips with each passing breath. Her stomach grumbled once again causing her groan. What was wrong with her? Why did she feel the need to hide just now? The image of her younger self flashed through her mind. “Oh yeah, that’s why…” Severa whispered to herself. Severa gazed up at the bright blue sky. Gods, it was like looking in a mirror. An incredibly short mirror with different clothes but still a mirror. The way she carried herself was mostly the same too. It was confident but that confident smile didn’t quite reach her eyes. She only caught a glimpse but the look in her eyes was all too familiar. A look she’s seen in herself for far too long. Eyes that have seen countless faces of disappointment loom over her. Her heart froze at the thought. They really were the same, weren’t they? Even down to their taste in fashion. The outfit she had was really cute as expected of her younger self. It was her after all. She has to have some level of good taste. Though one thing that did stick out was her scarf. It was a white one just like hers and in that same vein looked almost as worn as hers did. For someone who didn’t have to grow up in such a hellish future, one would think she would take better care of it. Severa quickly rummaged through her bag and pulled out the half mended scarf. She let out a deep sigh. “I guess it can’t be helped,” Severa said as she pulled out her knitting supplies. “She better be grateful to me for this…” ------- Several ragged breaths squeezed from Severa’s lungs and crystallized into the air. Her boots sunk into the crunching blanket of snow beneath her feet as she made her way up the winding path. She gazed down as the bright light of the moon sparkled across the sheet of white snow sprawled out before her. She should be almost there. She looked up and saw a small villa perched on the horizon. A million butterflies fluttered through her stomach as she grew closer. Severa’s body went stiff as she stopped in front of the door. A chorus of voices bounced around on the other side. Familiar voices that sent a wave of warmth through her heart that froze in the icy wind outside. Come on, she could do it. It was no big deal. She was just visiting family again like she used to. All she had to do was knock on the door. Gods what was wrong with her?! Her nails dug into the small wrapped bag in her hands. We love you regardless, Severa. Why would we ever forget about you? You’re still our daughter and nothing is going to change that. I promise, okay? So don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere. Severa’s stomach coiled around itself as she recalled those words. Even if those words were true, even if she knew what they meant, she still… She shook her head. What the hell was she so afraid of?! She took a deep breath. All she had to do was knock on the door. Slowly, she raised her arm towards the cold and snow-covered wood. Her heart raced a million miles per second. She gave the door a few knocks and the noise inside immediately faded away. Her body nearly turned to stone at the sudden loud silence that now filled her ears. She stood there for a moment and waited for the door to open. A few more minutes passed and still, nothing happened. Severa scowled at the door. “FINE!!” She shouted as she threw her arms out in frustration, “I’m just gonna leave!! I didn’t want to be here anyway!!” She turned around and crossed her arms. It seems she was right after all… Her chest tightened like a tied up ribbon as she stood there in silence. She glanced back at the door. They didn’t just leave her, did they? She turned around and knocked again. This time, however, she flinched as the door creaked and swayed ever so slightly within the wind. “It’s open…” She said as she pressed her palm against the door and pushed it open. The inside was nearly as pitch black as it was outside. The place looked empty, barren just like how it was back in the future. It was cold too as the chilling winds began to billow inside. She stepped inside and closed the door behind her. She couldn’t quite put her finger on it but something seemed off. Carefully, she took a couple steps forward. Nothing happened. She scowled again, “Alright! Come out! I know you guys are here!” She shouted into the dark void. No answer. “Geez you idiots really are dedicated to this, huh” Severa sighed as she removed her boots and sword and moved further into the house. Geez was there any way she could get some light? Where was the fireplace? Any candles? Why the hell was it so damn dark?! She scrunched in her body and rubbed her arms “And cold…” She muttered to herself. It really was like the future. Every day was like this. She would always come home to nothing but this familiar cold and unending darkness alone. A single tear slid down her face as she recalled those days. It was always so lonely and quiet. She hated it. Eventually, she made her way to the kitchen, and there, on the table, stood a single lit candle on top of what looked to be a small cake. The flame flickered in a circle of bright light that scared away the surrounding darkness. “Geez, what the hell is something like this doing here?!” Severa made her way over to the table. She placed the ribbon-wrapped bag on the table and looked down at the small candle flame. It may not have been much but it was warm. It was a soft and familiar warmth that put her at ease. She looked down at the cake at the base of the candle. She smiled. It was a fruit cake just like the ones she had when she was little. The thin white frosting and swirls of cream that coated the outer edge. She pulled out the chair. There were words on the cake that read: “Happy Birthday Severa” Without thinking, she closed her eyes. I wish that everyone could see how much I’ve grown With that, she blew out the candle and was swallowed by darkness. “HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SEVERA!!!!” All the candles and lanterns in the room suddenly flared to life as several familiar voices exploded into the air. Severa’s heart nearly leaped from her chest at the sudden noise. A loud thud hit the air as she and the chair slammed into the ground. Severa let out a groan of pain as the world began to spin. She shook her head and looked up to see her sister’s smiling face looming over her with a fire tome in her hand. “Surprised ya didn’t we?” Morgan giggled. Severa’s eyes crinkled into a scowl, “You moron!! What the hell was that?!?!” She shouted as she shot to her feet and glared at her little sister. “Of course I wasn’t surprised!! Why the hell would I be surprised by something so...so...lame!” “Now Severa, don’t say that” She heard her father speak as he walked into view, “Morgan put a lot of thought into this little surprise plan of ours” Severa crossed her arms and huffed, “Well obviously not enough thought because I could still hear your voices from outside” “Ah but Sev, you fail to realize that was all part of the plan” Morgan puffed out her chest. Severa rolled her eyes, “Yeah right, I doubt even you could predict what time I would get here, when did you set all this up anyway?” “When you got into town” Her sister answered matter of factly. When she got into town? But how did she... Severa narrowed her eyes at Morgan, “How did you…” “Oh mom told me, you really gotta get better at hiding, Sev if you don’t want anyone to see you” Severa flinched and was silent for a moment. She looked over at her mother who was trying to suppress a small giggle, “I saw you run into the alleyway while I was buying the cake, you’re not as discreet as you think you are” “I…” A smear of red swept across Severa’s face, “B-But why didn’t you say anything?!” Her mother smiled, “I was a little busy and besides you looked like you weren’t quite ready to see me at the moment” There she goes, her mother really could read her like a book. “Plus if she did then we wouldn’t have been able to do something like this!” Morgan said, “Doing it this way was far more fun” She laughed, “You should’ve seen the look on your face when we all the room lit up” She wiped a tear from eye, “Oh it was priceless” “Well, I’m glad I was able to make your day” She grumbled, “Meanwhile I’m still reeling back from the heart attack you all gave me!” “But I thought you said you weren’t surprised,” Morgan said with a sly grin. “Well that…I..you…” She blushed again, “You little…” Gawds, she just wanted to punch that stupid smug grin right off her face. “Alright, you two settle down” Their father spoke up, “We all came here to celebrate Severa’s birthday, remember?” “Yeah you’re right” Morgan looked over at her older sister, “Sorry Severa, I just couldn’t help myself” Severa simply scoffed, “It’s fine…” She said as she picked up the chair and moved it back into place. She looked over at the bag she placed on the table as she sat down. “Hey, Sev, what’s this bag for?” Morgan asked as she pointed at the bag Severa placed at the table. “I-It’s none of your business!!” She sputtered out as she grabbed the bag and held it close to guard. “Sheesh, I was just curious…come on you can tell me, right?” “I SAID it’s none of your business! So drop it!” Her mother smiled, “Well if Severa doesn’t want to say what the bag is for then she doesn’t have to” She said as she began to cut the cake. “Alright fine…” Severa scoffed as she placed the bag on the floor. Even after all this time, she hasn’t changed one bit. Severa took a moment to look around. None of them have actually. Morgan was still her rowdy little sister. Her parents still cared for her. It was just like back then when they celebrated her seventh birthday. She smiled as a familiar warmth filled her chest. A warmth she hadn’t felt in a long time and that she sorely missed. Her father smiled, “Oh right, Morgan wasn’t there something yo…” “C-Can I come out now?” A little girl’s voice spoke up Severa looked over to see a head full of snow-white hair in small pigtails along with a pair of amber-colored eyes poke out from behind a nearby wall. Oh it’s her. Their mother looked over at her daughter, “Shouldn’t you be in bed?” The little girl shook her head, “can’t sleep” Cordelia sighed, “Alright then come on, I’ll get you some cake” The younger Severa smiled, “Thanks mommy” She said as she hopped over to take a seat next to her father. She shifted her gaze over to the older version of herself, “So who’s she?” She asked, pointing at herself. “Well, she’s…erm...” Her father froze as he struggled to find the right words, “She’s uh…” “Just an old friend of your parents passing through” Severa answered with an almost dead tone. Her stomach twisted as she looked at her past self. It really was just like looking in a mirror. She glanced down at the ribbon-wrapped bag on the floor. “Just call me Serena” Her younger self smiled, “Nice to meet you, Serena. My name is…” “Severa” She finished in a cold and harsh tone. Gods, she just wanted to puke already. Looking at her younger self like this just felt so awkward. She didn’t know how else to describe it. She knew that smile. It didn’t fool her at all. It’s the same reason she couldn’t sleep. She didn’t want the day to end because she knew once it did, then she’d go straight back to being ignored. That’s how it was for herself at least. Her younger self crossed her arms and pouted, “Well that was rude” “Yeah, Se-I mean Serena, you don’t just cut people off like that” Morgan added as she hit her sister with a stern stare. “Especially on her birthday” “Yeah!” Her younger self cut back in. “That’s right!” “I was afraid of this” her mother sighed. “It’ll be fine...I hope” Her father said. “Whatever” Severa scoffed and stood up from her seat. Severa looked to Morgan then back to her younger self. Those cold defiant eyes and that familiar gaze. Oh, she knew that look all too well. She always hated being talked down to like that as a kid because everyone always talked down to her. Gods could this mirror just stop looking at her?! She then noticed the tattered scarf around her neck. Of course, she’d still be wearing it. She used to wear hers all the time too until it started fraying apart anyway. It was one of the few things that reminded her that she wasn’t alone. Severa grabbed the ribbon-wrapped bag and stood up from her seat. “Sev…” Severa took a deep breath. She could do this. She simply had to give her the present and that would be that. Gods, why did this have to feel so awkward?! A loud silence filled the room as she walked over to her younger self. “Here” Severa said as she held out the present. Her younger self looked up at her and blinked. “Just take it!” She said as her face began to flush a bright red, “I-It’s your birthday, isn’t it? J-Just think of it as a present or something, I don’t care” The young Severa’s eyes lit up, “wow thanks!” She said as she grabbed the present, “You’re nicer than I thought, miss Serena” Severa’s face only grew redder at those words, “J-Just don’t get the wrong idea, okay! I only made this for you out of obligation, got it!” “It’s so pretty” Her younger self’s eyes sparkled as she gazed on the snow-white scarf, “Look, mommy, Miss Serena got me a new scarf!” Her mother smiled, “I can see that” “Y-You really like it?” Severa asked in disbelief. Her younger self nodded, “yup, it looks even better than the one mommy made for me last year” “I’m so- I-I mean it’s not like I really care” Severa crossed her arms and looked away. her cheeks flushed a deeper red only matched by her mother’s hair, “I-It’s not like I made it myself or a-anything” “You made this yourself?” her younger self asked as her eyes lit up yet again, “Wow so you’re even more talented than mommy is!” Those words caused her heart to tremble. More talented than her own mother, yeah right! What kind of delusions were in this kid’s head? But still, it felt good to hear that and from herself of all people. Severa’s lips curved a soft smile. “So many people must admire you a lot just like mommy and daddy” She heard her younger self say. “I wish I could be that talented someday” Severa looked down to see her younger self sigh. She knew that look, alright. It's the one she has made herself countless times. The look of a girl who feels she’s just never good enough. Her heart sank at the sight. Severa knelt down to meet her at eye level and patted her on the head. Her younger self looked up and their eyes met. “And you definitely will be” Severa said with a smile, “All you have to do is just keep at it and you’ll eventually get there, I guarantee it” “Really?” Severa nodded, “yep and I know how much easier said than done that is” Memories of all her countless failures began to bubble to the surface, “But no matter how many times you fail or how many times you try again just remember one thing…” “What’s that…” Severa looked around at her family’s smiling faces. Her mother, father, and even her sister. She wasn’t alone. We all love you Severa Those words echoed in her head as she turned to face herself again. “J-Just remember that we all love you no matter what. No matter how many times you fall or how many times you mess up, we will love you regardless so…” She hesitated for a moment, “Happy Birthday, Severa” She closed her eyes and smiled.
  2. I’ve made it no secret as to my love of Severa on this site and for good reason. Severa is a character of duality and contrast. Her story is one of an emotionally traumatized girl that tries her best to rolling along despite all the failures and hardships she has faced. This in a way truly exemplifies the tsundere archetype she so faithfully is a part of but I’m not here to simply dismiss her character on those grounds but rather use it as a lens to try and better understand her character as a whole. Severa is a rather abrasive and sharp-tongued individual. She’s very quick to harshly criticize others as well as put them down. We see this in several of her supports most prominently in her C and B supports. Her supports with Cynthia and Owain start off with her acting like somewhat of an outright bully calling their chuunibyou antics childish and lame. She claims to be superior to them for not indulging in their “loser” hobbies and delusions. She criticizes both Yarne and Robin(both M and F) rather harshly for what she believes to be laziness and modesty on their part. The same is true of her supports with Kjelle albeit to a much lesser extent. All of these supports seem to paint Severa as an incredibly mean-spirited and harsh individual who cares little for the feelings of others in favor of her own selfish ego. However, this abrasiveness is not all there is to her as Severa can be rather kind and caring when she wants to be which is shown most prominently in her supports with Noire. The support starts off with Noire asking Severa to go to walk to the bathroom with her due to being afraid of going alone in the dark. As usual, Severa begins to criticize this behavior as she does with everyone. She tells Noire that she needs to learn to go by herself and grow up a little. Noire apologizes to which Severa responds with a ‘whatever’ and does it anyway. Noire thanks her and says “You’re always so nice to me” and the exchange that follows is rather interesting. Severa: That must be a pretty low bar if I'm leaping over it. Why not bother someone else from time to time? Noire: Oh, I'd be too embarrassed... Severa: And you're not with me? Noire: You don't tease me for it. Severa: No, I suppose not. I'm only interested in taking self-important people down a peg. Teasing you would be like kicking a puppy. ...While it's asleep. Noire: ...W-wait. Is that really the reason why? Severa: Oh, what does it matter? At the end of the day, I'm still saddled with guarding you from the bogeyman. Noire: ...Sorry? Severa: Never mind. We're old friends. Imposing on me is just what you do. ...Er, that sounded less harsh in my head. Noire: I think I know what you meant. Severa’s first response seems to suggest that she’s self-aware of the fact that she can be rather harsh and critical at times. She knows how harsh she can be to others but for some reason isn’t that way towards Noire or at least not nearly to the degree as she is with others. The explanation given by Severa, herself, as to why that might be the case is by and large the most interesting part of this conversation. She states she’s only interested in knocking cocky and arrogant people down a peg. People who are always going on about how great they are which in a way is contradictory to how Severa, herself, acts. But is it really a contradiction? On the surface, it would appear so and she just doesn’t realize it though we just discussed that Severa is indeed aware of her own abrasiveness and arrogance so there must be more than what’s on the surface. So why don’t we dig a little deeper and ask ourselves why does Severa act so abrasively and harshly? Well, the answer isn’t very hard to find if we look at her supports with both Robins. Her Male Robin support starts off with her criticizing him for his “dumb” battle plans in the practice drills they were doing earlier. Her words, as usual, are rather blunt and overly harsh. She calls him an idiot and accuses him of being arrogant for thinking he has all the answers. Robin then responds by prompting her to come up with a better solution to his proposed battle plans. Severa perceives this as somewhat of a trick thinking the reason he’s asking her this is to prove his superiority. He reassures her it isn’t but it doesn’t convince her. However, she takes the challenge anyway. In the B-support she confronts Robin and gives him her revised version of his original plan to which Robin begins to poke holes in it. Severa frantically tries to defend saying it’s the best way to minimize casualties. Robin, understandably, responds with that they aren’t trying for fewer casualties but rather zero casualties. He says her plan isn’t good enough for that to which Severa lashes out at him saying: “Oh. My. Gawds. Are you serious?! You think you can win a war with pretty ideals and zero casualties? Wake up! You think the war fairy is gonna come flying over and sprinkle victory dust everywhere? ...This isn't about the plan at all, is it? You're just making fun of ME! Well, I'm sorry if I'm not as smart as my mother!” Now there’s a lot to unpack here with these lines of dialogue but for now, I want to just focus on those last couple sentences where she says “This isn’t about the plan at all, is it? You’re just making fun of ME! Well, I’m sorry if I’m not as smart as my mother!” These lines of dialogue seem to suggest Severa has something against her mother, Cordelia. Or rather it seems to suggest that she automatically assumes any critique against her is a way of that person saying “You’re worthless compared to your mother”. A fact further clarified in her father support which I’ll get into later. Regardless, this line of thinking suggests that Severa has some kind of inferiority complex stemming from Cordelia, which is made all the more clear in her supports with female Robin. The support starts as you would expect(albeit slightly differently) with Severa harshly criticizing Robin for being lazy on her part for cooking instead of doing her duty as a tactician and drafting up strategies. Though this is after Severa compliments her on the hard work she must’ve put into making such a delicious looking stew, this makes the harsh contrast from complimentary to critical all the more jarring. The B-support builds off of this conflict where Robin gives her a counter-argument. In it, she says that it gives her a chance to build the bonds she has with others allowing for better morale and better performance on the battlefield. Severa characteristically shrugs off the argument with a ‘whatever’. Unsatisfied with that response, Robin prods further asking Severa why she got so angry at her just after complimenting her on her delicious stew to which the following exchange takes place: Severa: Because we're just about the same age and you're so much SMARTER than me! You're better at tactics and strategy and battle techniques and...everything! Everyone already thought you were amazing, and then you go make this amazing soup! I was just... I dunno. Jealous, I guess. Robin: Severa, first off, I'm not nearly so perfect as you seem to think I am. And I wouldn't be half what I am today if it wasn't for the help of all my friends. Severa: Gawds, and you're MODEST, too! It's so totally annoying. Robin: Severa, are you sure it's really ME who's making you angry? Or does my skill set perhaps remind you of someone else? Severa: Wha—?! How'd you... I mean... No, you're wrong! From the dialogue here, we can infer a couple of things. First, Severa doesn’t really like looking at people who are better than her in some way. She hates to see people working harder than she is because it just reminds herself of how inept she is in comparison. This causes her to project those feelings of inferiority onto others. In order to preserve her own sense of self-worth, she’ll try to put others down and try to act superior when in reality she’s jealous. Jealous of their confidence, their ambition, their hard work, and their natural talent. This idea is further compounded in the A support where the following exchange happens: Severa: No, it's all right. I kind of do. I'm thinking you might understand. I mean, you probably know this already, but you reminded me of...my mother. Robin: Yes, I see... Severa: It's just that you're both so clever and smart and good at everything you do! And then there's little old me. I haven't done squat. Robin: But you don't hate your mother, do you? Severa: No! Of course not! ...It's just that whenever I see her, I can't help thinking how wretched I am. She's strong, noble, articulate, beautiful, and admired by everyone and their horse. Oh! Oh! AND she's kind and considerate and not in the slightest bit vain! Do you realize how hard it is being the daughter of Her Royal Perfectness? I guess I should just get used to being pathetic, huh? Robin: You have your own virtues, Severa. For one, you have a kind heart. Severa: Pffft. Yeah, right. This exchange spells it out clear as day. Despite how arrogant and self-centered she may act that’s all it is an act. Deep down inside Severa sees herself as nothing but a pathetic loser who is incapable of doing anything right. She hates herself for all the things she cannot do. She acts that way to cover up the very weak and vulnerable girl underneath. This is a common thing for people who have an inferiority complex. Often times they’ll try to cover it up with a superiority complex. If no one else will compliment them, then they’ll just have to compliment themselves. They tend to celebrate every little victory and take every compliment or word of praise they get in stride. It’s one of the few ways they can feel like they’re worth something and not like total worthless garbage. However, those bouts of self-praise and confidence are ultimately hollow and don’t last very long which brings us to the second half of the support. After hearing Severa’s little self-deprecating speech, Robin begins to tell Severa that she has her own virtues. She tells Severa that she’s a good person as she points out that she withheld talking of her mother to spare Robin’s feelings. Severa, somewhat uncharacteristically, denies this. She feels the praise is hollow and not true or genuine. She has a similar reaction to praise in her Inigo support where he compliments her looks. This, again, is typical among those with an inferiority complex. People like Severa feel so insecure about their own self-worth that they tend to deny it when they are given genuine praise. They feel the praise received is hollow and isn’t genuine and thereby deny it. Regardless, these two supports make it very clear that Severa has an inferiority complex stemming from her mother. This makes her statement with Noire be contradictory but at the same time meaningful. She hates people who take their natural talents for granted because of her jealousy of them. Therefore, She feels she needs to put them in their place for not knowing what it’s like to suffer like her. This support touches on another aspect of her character which we’ll get to in a minute. For now, though, let’s examine the root cause of that inferiority complex. To say Severa’s relationship with her mother is complicated would be an understatement. Cordelia is a smart and skillful knight and is often praised as a genius by her peers. With this in mind, it is only natural for those peers to look at her daughter and expect similar, if not, better results than her mother. It is due to this that Severa developed her inferiority complex. Typically, an inferiority complex develops when a person is constantly told how worthless they are or how they’re never good enough. These feelings, if left unchecked, will fester and eventually manifest themselves into a complex. Severa, understandably, hates her mother for this as well as the people who compare her with her mother. However, it’s not as black and white as it may seem. For as much as Severa says she dislikes her mother, she wants nothing more than to be like her mother as can be seen through various barracks dialogues. Cordelia to Severa is her role model, her light, the thing she strives to become. Severa loves her mother above all else if their supports are any indication. In the A-support of said support chain, it is revealed that the reason she acted all cold and distant was to minimize the pain she would experience if Cordelia were to die again. However, due to always being in her shadow, Severa doesn’t like to show that side of her. She doesn’t want to be compared to her mother so she hides her admiration for Cordelia whenever she can. At the core of Severa’s character is the need to be recognized not from within her mother’s shadow but as herself. She wants nothing more than to feel loved and needed especially by the people she cares about the most. It is this need to feel recognized and loved that made her lash out at her mother before she died. She accused her mother of loving Chrom over her and that Cordelia didn’t understand or recognize her. To this day, that remains Severa’s greatest regret. After that moment, Severa thought Cordelia died for Chrom and left her stranded and alone. She felt abandoned and tossed aside by the one person she could truly trust. The one person in her life that would recognize her for who she was were just gone in an instant. They died for a man that would never love them back and not for Severa. She was truly alone and she couldn’t help but blame herself(well she says she blames Cordelia but I’d argue that’s just her projecting). It is this aspect of her character that permeates so strongly everywhere else in conjunction with her aforementioned inferiority complex. Severa’s abrasive nature, as discussed previously, is a shield. It’s the reason she’s so cold and distant. The reason she’s so overly critical of others. It’s all a barrier to keep others out and protect the very vulnerable and insecure girl underneath. She feels alone like there’s no one she can trust or talk to cause the last time she trusted two people with a promise, they broke that promise. This makes her feel that she can’t trust anyone. She has no one to turn to and she feels like there’s no one left that cares about her. No one that loves her. The support that exemplifies this the best(it’s also her best support) is her father support. The support begins with Severa successfully manipulating her father into buying her stuff. She does this by guilt-tripping him and saying a father and daughter should hang out more. One interesting line in the C-support to take note of is when Severa says: “Odd? Is there something wrong with that? Are you embarrassed to be seen with me?! You'd rather be with Mother, wouldn't you” It’s an interesting line that will be relevant shortly. Anyway, the support continues to the B-support where her father turns the tables and refuses to spoil her unless she earns it by doing chores around the camp. Severa, of course, doesn’t take this very well and like a spoiled brat throws a little bit of a tantrum for it. However, in the end, she begrudgingly agrees to it anyway. It is the A-support where everything comes together. It starts with Severa failing utterly at sharpening a bunch of swords as her father walks in. They have the following exchange: Father: Er, Severa? What are you doing? Severa: I'm sharpening these stupid weapons that won't stay sharp! Gawds! You told me to help out, right? So I'm helping. Father: ...And that pile of broken swords behind you? Severa: It's not my fault they're defective! They all, like, fell apart and stuff! Sorry I'm not PERFECT at everything like Mother. Sorry I'm SO STUPID! I get it—I'm useless! You should just drown me in a sack... Father: Severa, I think you're overreact— Severa: I burn everything I try to cook... I just about beheaded a horse while chopping wood... I'm no help to anyone! I'm just a bunch of lame deadweight. You must've had high hopes, too, given Mother's history. I'm such a disappointment. Father: ...... Severa: ...Well? If you have something to say, just say it! Father: I'm not disappointed, Severa. I couldn't be happier that you came back to us. Severa: Oh, please. Are you mocking me? Do you really think I'm that stupid? All my life, every time I mess something up, people compare me to Mother! And you're closer to her than anyone! I KNOW you think I don't measure up. This exchange is interesting because it does an amazing job of blending together the two core aspects of Severa’s character. Her inferiority complex and her loneliness. The inferiority complex part is rather obvious to see as it spelled out plain as day. It’s how it blends her loneliness into it that is truly amazing. Note how when her father says he’s not disappointed, she vehemently denies it, almost instantaneously. She says this is to her own father no less. Her father, one of the two people she should feel comfortable confiding in. Someone, she should be able to trust but she denies his words immediately as disingenuous. This forces her father to push harder and tell her in complete and utter sincerity that he does indeed love and believe in her. It is only after that that her tough outer shell shatters and reveals the traumatized girl underneath bursting into tears. Father: I love you, honey, and I'm behind you no matter what happens. So no more talk about being disappointed! It makes me feel like I failed you as a father. Severa: What? No! Daddy, you didn't! *sniff* I'm sorry! I... I didn't... WAAAAAAAAAAH... Father: Don't cry. You've been through a lot, I know, but it's all right now. I'm sorry for saying you need more hardship before. I know it's been hard... But I'll do all that I can to keep you from ever suffering again. And hey—you HAVE been doing your chores. So how about that reward now? Severa: No. I don't need it. I don't need anything but you, Daddy! But if you die on me again, I'll never forgive you! Father: I'm not going anywhere this time, honey. I promise. It is that last line by Severa that intrigues me the most. She says all she needs is her father. She doesn’t need any expensive dresses or jewelry to be happy. She just wants to spend time with her father. It’s this interaction that truly showcases how worthless Severa truly sees herself to be. She’s been beaten down so much by the shit life has thrown at her to the point where she doesn’t feel loved by anyone, even her own parents. She feels no one cares about her that there is no one she can turn to for help. She feels the only way to spend time with her family is to manipulate them into doing so. Severa is a girl who’s suffering immense emotional pain due to the many hardships she’s been forced to endure. Anxiety, anger, sadness, grief, failure, and loss. All of these things are what make up the foundation for Severa’s character. These painful emotions that she feels she’s forced to deal with all by herself. She has to deal with alone without anyone to console her or tell her that ‘everything will be okay’. Despite that, though she still finds the strength to keep on rolling just one more time, to keep breathing and smiling through it all no matter what the future holds and no matter how much it hurts. And it is there that I personally relate to Severa the most. I know that feeling of wanting to be recognized, of wanting to succeed and be the best you can be. But no matter how hard I try and no matter how much I work, it just doesn’t seem to be enough. It’s when I see her that I am reminded that I’m not alone. That there are people out there who are struggling just as I am and if she can pull through, then so can I. Sometimes you just gotta remember to keep on rolling along no matter what just one more time.
  3. I'm replaying Awakening and I've gotten all the other kids and I'm saving Severa for last but i'm conflicted for who to pair cordelia with Gregor or Libra? Statwise and Skillwise
  4. Looking to buy or for websites that I can purchase the Cordelia and Severa Summer Party Playmat released back in september. Anything will help. They are two of my favorite characters and that is the most perfect playmat. Much thanks for any help ;3
  5. Hey gang, I'm writing a fanfic. It's slightly self-indulgent, but that's what fanfic is for, so that's ok, if people actually like it it's a bonus. I'm notorious (at least I think I am) for shipping the hell out of M!Robin and Cordelia. I mean, on the surface, how could you not? It's the two most perfect and flawless shepherds, together at last, not to mention it being one of Cordelia's... three? good romantic supports. But what I always found fascinating was that Severa and Morgan are the two biggest little shits in the second generation. Even after I played fates and I was essentially done with awakening I still thought that this had a lot of potential to be a great story. Two years, a million bus rides to and from school, an entire scrapped 13000 word first draft that's still on FF.Net, and the most boring WestJet 5 hour plane ride with no free entertainment later, I think I finally have something. https://archiveofourown.org/works/8351107/chapters/19131373 Now, I'm a film guy. I've worked on films. I know how stories work in film. But jesus christ if text isn't a completely alien language to me. If any of you guys have any criticism or advice to give when it comes to expressing emotion or just how to pace things in general, I'd hella appreciate it (the most recent chapter in particular feels like a bit of a mess pacing-wise to me, I just dont have the slightest clue of how to fix it).
  6. Hey everyone, Just wanted to share my newest Fire Emblem VO interview with all of you. This time, I heard from Julie Ann Taylor, who voiced Cordelia and Severa in Fire Emblem Awakening, Selena, Flora, and Caeldori in Fire Emblem Fates, and Linde in Fire Emblem Heroes. https://comedyngaming.com/news/interview-julie-anne-taylor-fire-emblems-selena She's been working in the industry since the late 80's and had lots to say about her experiences in the recording booth as well as which of her characters she relates to the most. I especially enjoyed the insights she had on voicing Severa and Cordelia, and the interview mainly focuses on those two characters in addition to their Fates "doppelgangers," She even had stuff to say about Bride Cordelia's appearance in Heroes' Bridal Blessings Banner. Hope you enjoy! It was a blast to conduct!
  7. Disclaimer: potential FE Awakening AND FE Fates spoilers ahead. So I've been harbouring a crazy conspiracy for a long while that Corrin, through the hardship and suffering in Fire Emblem Fates, becomes the original Grima. And therefore ultimately also eventually becomes Robin as well. That said, I haven't played or completed Conquest or even Revelation. So with that in mind I'm going to share my crazy theory from what I understand now, bookmark this page, and then hide in a bunker until I'm all caught up hehe. And wait with anticipation to read what the FE community will think or say. So... Let the craziness begin! Hoshido and Nohr are considered mythological kingdoms by the time of Awakening. I propose that Corrin's life ends with severe tragedy, which is the cause for Grima's lust for apocalypse for a lack of better words. After the realms of Hoshido and Nohr are brought to ruin, Corrin invades Ylisse as the original Grima. His Risen army; the remnants of his devastated world. Corrin is from a divine bloodline and can transform into a dragon. Grima is a also a humanoid dragon. On top of this, Robin and Corrin are both praised for their tactical prowess. And have white hair. So they share some common traits. Such is the case that Corrin becomes the dark bringer of the apocalypse, that this is the ultimate reasoning behind Selena, Odin and Laslow's appearance in Conquest, as they are on the lookout for Corrin, the progenitor of their realm's doom. And that's all I have now. I appreciate that this is a pretty wild one hehe. I welcome your thoughts.
  8. If Inigo, Severa or Owain are the same people as Laslow, Selena and Odin, then couldn't Morgan and Kana potentially be half-siblings?
  9. I know that a lot of people are either saying that they are hoping that the children or any other character makes a return but I just can't get the idea of them returning out of my head, which is most likely because I loved their development (Mostly) and how truly awesome they are. You see, I can't get all these ideas of how they return out of my head, so I decided to just ask if they are plausible and to actually stop myself from continuing to fixate on the ideas. The first thought I had was that they return as reincarnations, and I know that Rhajat, Asugi and Caelodori were rather cringe-worthy but hear me out, as this idea would allow them to return without story inconvenience as it could easily keep to a vague fates story choice as it could e that as hey are returning home they are ambushed and killed by assassins, and when the odin reincarnation supports with selena's it can go that he keeps having nightmares of being ambushed by scary men and he remembers a red haired girl with him and her getting shot by an arrow and feeling despair and then it goes black. Then I realised that may not be very realistic as in Birthright Laslow dies so it could never be that he was with them. So if they did do a support similar to that it could never be with the laslow reincarnation, unless only it their deaths were from odins view, which in that case if laslow dies after odin it would mean he did not see his death, or of course odin reincarnination in the support says he remembers seeing an arrow going towards someone and jumping in their way. I also like his idea for the reason that they could make a shy laslow who was not told to flirt to get rid of his shyness plus who doesn't want more manhandling moments. Another thought I had was that after they were returning to ylisse, another being transported the three of them to a another new place, but the person says that it was a mistake that the trio was brought here it was supposed to be the children (Purposely Vague) and they being their noble selves take the childrens place thus entering in their 4th war. Also could you tell me if it is plausible or just a horrible idea and you don't want to see any more characters returning and I am being stupid
  10. Now Fates is far from the first game to pull characters from a previous FE, but with it bringing back Inigo, Severa, Owain and in a loose way bringing back Cordelia, Tharja and Gaius through reincarnation of sorts. Despite there being zero connection between Awakening & Fates other than the Gate being a connection to the various universes, which is very unlike the other times characters appeared in other games, which was usually due to them being sequels in universe with other FE's etc. Are we to expect to see the same thing in FE15? Where they take the most popular Fates characters and rehash them/further develop them despite them not fitting in whatsoever? Figured it could be an interesting discussion topic, as I would only like to see characters from Fates come back as like some kind of bonus at most, and not like how Inigo, Severa and Owain did. Although Inigo is one of my favorite characters in both games, it almost feels like IS wants to make sure people recognize that Fates is in the same franchise as Awakening despite sharing a franchise name, they seem afraid of trying to let a game stand on its own now. Despite the fact that, the gameplay is very stellar, a massive improvement over Awakening, unless its Revelation, but thats another deal entirely.
  11. So, the DLC's released. Also, it SOUNDS to me like Anankos' voice is just one of Corrin's reused...with an echoing effect, like he's in constant Dragon mode. I kinda like it. Edit: Also, I love the title drops that Owain makes.
  12. So, after taking a long break from Awakening (since August 2015) I've decided to pick up the game again. I'm still not sure if I'm gonna play on Normal just to breeze through the game, or go through Hard as a warmup for the higher difficulties. Now comes the problem of pairing everyone and planning everything. I decided to have change some things up, like certain pairings and use some of my less used characters more. Don't have dlc. First of all, the Avatar. I plan on going with a MaMU with the name Camus. I am going to have him end up as a Paladin and marry Cordelia. I only know he will have Luna and Aegis. No plan on asset/flaw and other things. Also, does anyone know what hair color looks the most like FE11's Camus' hair color (or Sirius)? With Cordelia I'm probably have her finish as a Falcon Knight. Seeing how I'm not doing an optimal run, I thought about running Sol/Armsthrift/Galeforce/Lancefaire/Bowbreaker. Thoughts? I plan on having Severa and Morgan end up as Bowknight and Hero, not being set on who gets which class. They will inherit Galeforce and Luna. Ideas for other abilities? How I wish Bowknight was better, but I'll still use it. My biggest change will be pairing up Chrom with Sully. I rarely use Kjelle, even though I like her, and this will fix that issue. As mentioned earlier, I don't plan on having this run be optimal. I will keep Kjelle as a General, even though they suck, and have her inherit Aegis. Since I plan on having fun I might run something like Pavise/Aegis/Aether/Deliverer/Astra. I know Donnel gives her Galeforce, but I'm limiting my Galeforce use. For Lucina I thought about Aether/Rightful King/Aegis/Swordfaire. Not sure what her last skill would be. Thinking about Vantage/Lethality/Lancebreaker/Astra. For the remaining characters I'll go with pairings I like, and the parents of children I'm not interested in will be paired with who's left. Going to list my current pairings below. Open for changes, either because the children will suck or the pairing isn't that great. Lissa-Vaike (I want a blonde Swordmaster Owain) Tharja-Gaius (Nearly always go with this) Nowi-Kellam (Great support, tank Nah) Sumia-Stahl (I like this pairing, plus Stahl seems to work with a lot of children) Cherche-Gregor (Funny support) Olivia-Lon'qu (Great pairing) Brady, Yarne and Laurent I don't care about. Might go Miriel-Ricken so I get another magic user. I also thought Olivia-Frederick and then have Lissa-Lon'qu. Still debating on it. I'll worry about the children as the game progresses. Feel free to leave ideas for them though. That was a long post. Thanks for any help in advance though. In the meantime I'll try to figure out the optimal for my wannabe Camus MU.
  13. Luna. A mercenary of Nohr; Camilla’s subordinate. Her origins and past are a complete mystery. An exceptionally sore loser, but also a hard-working genius who tries hard to match her talent. She also has a friendly side, which often catches her companions off-guard. The biggest squanderer. [spoiler=Marriage/Buddy Seals] Spoiler (Marriage/Buddy Seals) A Marriage/Buddy seal allows a unit to reclass into one of the select class trees of his spouse (S support) or buddy (A+ support). A unit may only achieve an S support with units of the opposite gender (exc. Kamui, Syalla, Zero), and may only achieve an A+ support with units of the same gender. (The credit for the following information goes to Gayserbeam, as I copied the wording of his explanation. Check out the Class Changing and Inheritance Thread for more information. If the users Primary Class is different than their Spouses/Buddy's Primary Class, then the Marriage/Buddy Seal will reclass them to the Spouses/Buddy's Primary Class, even if the user has that class as a Secondary Class already. If the users Primary Class is the same as their Spouses/Buddy's Primary Class, then the Marriage/Buddy Seal will reclass them to the Spouses/Buddy's Secondary Class. If the user is married or buddied with a unit who has an unlearnable class, then the Marriage/Buddy Seal will reclass them to the Spouses/Buddy's Secondary Class. An unlearnable class is a class that may be unique to a character or their children. The following units have unlearnable classes: Nishiki (Fox Spirit), Flannel (Garou), Azura (Singer), Mozume (Villager). If the user is married or buddied with a unit who has an unlearnable class, and their Primary Class is the same as their Spouses/Buddy's Secondary Class, then the Marriage/Buddy Seal will reclass them to the Spouses/Buddy's Substitute Class. A Substitute Class is simply a select class a character with an unlearnable class passes down under certain circumstances. The following units have Substitute Classes: Nishiki (Herb Merchant), Flannel (Outlaw), Azura (Rod Knight), Mozume (Herb Merchant). If you're still confused, let me use Luna as an example to try and clarify matters! Luna/Zero: Luna's Primary Class is Mercenary, and Zero's is Outlaw. Therefore, Luna would Marriage Seal into Outlaw.Luna/Subaki: Luna's Primary Class is Mercenary, and Subaki's is Pegasus Warrior. Therefore, Luna would Buddy Seal into Pegasus Warrior. As Luna's Secondary Class is Pegasus Warrior, he would not receive a new class tree from Subaki. Luna/Lazward: Luna's Primary Class is Mercenary, and Lazward's is Mercenary. 14. Hello, I have been playing this game for a while, but am certainly no expert. Therfor I would like some advice or feedback. I have made a +Str/-Lck MU, and am planning to have him marry Severa. I'm also not really sure about which classes I'm going to have MU, Severa, or Morgan be yet. What I would like to know is, based on this who would make a good father for Severa, and what might be a good class for her and Morgan?
  15. Summary: What if Robin/Avatar had woken up in a different timeline? What if he had woken up in the dire future of despair that the children came from? Could destiny be changed once again or would he fail this time? -Feel free to review by PMing me :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Prologue: Premonition ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "This is it! Our final battle," he told her determined. "You seem anxious. I've never seen you like this," She responded to him surprised. It was true. They had been through a lot together, and in that time he never expressed any sign of nervousness. He was always calm, smooth, collective, and ready for battle. This time he looked different, as if something was troubling him. "It's because everything has led up to this moment. Everything we've done, all our hard work, and our struggles. They are what got us right here, right now," Robin said with a serious tone. "I can't afford any more losses. Much like I can't stand losing you." She smiled. "We've faced so many things together, so I think you should know by now that I can watch my back. Right?" "Yes, I know. It's just that, I would never forgive myself if something happened to you tonight." He looked straight in her beautiful eyes. In those two pools he saw his own reflection, and the best out of himself. "Neither would I, if anything happened to you. Do you remember the plan?" She asked him seriously. "Of course. I created it after all." "Right, and this is like the Valley. Risen had us surrounded, we were outnumbered and alone." She pointed to what she could see in front of them. It was getting dark, and there was no sun to light the way while Risen covered the land that expanded before them. They couldn't even see the grass beneath the zombie horde, only the dark gray sky and the burned trees were visible. "No, the Valley differs from now." "How's that? I see no difference," she asked him curious. "Ehmm… because of this." He pressed towards her, and she couldn't help but feel the adrenaline of her heart when he put his lips on hers. She felt so protected and joyful, because she had someone right by her side. Someone she knew that had stolen her heart and would do anything for her to smile. Her blood flowed rapidly in her cheeks, making them as red as ever. He put his hands around her waist and she put hers around his neck, pulling him closer. "We should focus on our mission, we're about to start the battle. Did you forget that?" She told him in a slightly bossy tone while pushing him away, but she was unable to hide her excitement and her rosy cheeks. "I did." He replied with a broad smile, like she hadn't yelled at him. "Although, when this is over, I have prepared a small surprise for you." She nodded and asked, "Really? Then, shall we go ahead so I can see it later?" "Yes. Tell the others to guide our forces towards the enemy. We must focus on entering the castle. It's your job to tell us how to get in, and with our new weaponry, we have a chance of winning." "I know. Tonight, we will write a new future for Ylisse." "Together." He told her confidently and held her hand. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------And so the battle began. The zombie fighters rushed at them with a vicious aura. They couldn't listen or feel. They could only see their enemy in front of their eyes. That was their mission, to kill with no remorse of their actions. That was why the fell dragon was so powerful. Although he had great power himself, his army was the one that terrorised the countless cities it found in its path. Did that mean they were better than humans? Of course not. Although their enhanced battle abilities and skills were something to notice, they lacked human's skills like improvising, insight and the two most important ones, compassion and supportiveness for each other. Those skills, unheard to Risen, made the remains of humanity gather and forge a team with one goal in mind, the fall of the fell dragon, once and for all. In this battle, that dream was about to become real after all those years of pain and slaughter. It was the time for the sun to rise, and for the long period of peace to begin. The man, followed by his beloved one, found a path that guided them and their selected forces inside Ylisstol's castle. The building was the key for them to open the door to a bright new world. At least, that was what they thought as he looked around the room. They had just gotten in, but he told them to stay alert for anything. "What is it? You looked troubled," she asked him worried. "I don't know. This is way too easy. It was never that easy," Robin responded concerned. Right then, they heard a huge noise from outside. The man quickly turned around to see what was going on. Unfortunately, in that moment their forces were surrounded by Risen. He couldn't understand what was going on, but before he could even think, he was knocked out from behind. The last thing he remembered before closing his eyes was his beloved one and the feeling of extreme disappointment. He had failed her, something he swore never to do. He awoke disoriented and confused when he slowly opened his eyes. He tried looking around to get his bearings and unconsciously moved his hand only to find that it was tied tight to a metallic chair. With a quick look around the room, he saw nothing but a dim light from a candle nearby. At once, he tried to think of ways to get out of this condition. Alas, the metallic chair was bolted to the ground so he couldn't break it. His hands and legs were also tied with a plastic-like cord making it impossible to move. Not to mention that he seemed very weak. Unable to find an idea to escape, he waited there looking towards the candle's light, and smelling its wax scent. All he could do now was worry about his friends and his love, about their failure, and about the person who betrayed them. Suddenly, he heard noises of footsteps. Then, the sound of a door cringing open. Before he knew it, a man appeared before him, holding another candle and a knife. "Thank goodness! Hurry! Cut the ropes and let's save our men! Hope isn't lost yet!" The man in front of him laughed sarcastically. "Your plan failed tactician. We've been holding you here for a while now. The battle was lost before it started, and there is nothing you can do anymore." "What?… We? It was YOU! You hit me from behind! You… Traitor! How could you? We trusted you! I trusted you!" He tried to move in a fury but he couldn't. "I am definitely going to enjoy this. You are alive because I ordered them not to kill you. You know, for old times' sake, but I came here with a deal. You will tell us where you are keeping it. You kept that secret for yourself and-" "Don't speak her name!" He cried furiously as his face reddened in anger. Robin moved his body with rage to escape, only to be stopped a third time by his ties. "Haha! I won't. I was so close, but so far away. You lied about its place. It wasn't where I thought it was. Tell me where the real one is and I will grant you a place right next to lord Grima." "I prefer to die before I help you! Snake!" He spat at his face using the only way to attack he could think of. However, the man wiped it away from his eye and continued like nothing had happened. "Don't worry I am not in hurry. I have all the time I need. I finally defeated you! Could I ask for more?" "Arrrgggghhh!" It was a female scream. One he recognised immediately. "NO! What are you doing to her? You crazy psychopath! Tell me, damn it!" "You will tell me where you hid it! Or she will die. I will slaughter her in front of you, but if you comply then I will let you keep her head! Haha!" The man laughed evilly. "Now, tell me where you hid it!" Robin was lost in thought. He had no other choice but to comply. "Tell me Sir Robin. How did everything begin? Tell me everything you know or she will suffer." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Fire Emblem: The Man That Never Was Prologue-Premonition ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ A/N (Author's Note): Hello everybody :) This story was created to become something completely new, based on the characters we all love (from Awakening) and maybe answer in some interesting questions, like "Can Robin change the fate of a doomed world?, Can love be found in such place?" Well... I believe there is only one way to find out :P This prologue is a bit shorter on purpose to smoothly proceed into the main story. Please don't mind any grammatical errors. No copyright intended. Until next time! Please have yourselves a darn good one :D ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ J.D. 16. Like, are they actually from the Future Past DLC that the Shepards of our timeline went to save from Grima, instead of the same children who appear in FE Awakening timeline that we played? That's what I'd like to think anyways.
  17. Awakening, unlike most other Fire Emblems, encourage the player to experiment with character classes and find what works best for them. This being said, which characters who's original classes do you tend to keep the same throughout your playthroughs. And when I say original classes I'm including promotions as well. IE: Turning Severa into a Hero or a Bow Knight is still keeping her in her original class.
  18. Alright, I need to get this one down, because i've been a foot in each of them for a week now. First, I need to know if Stahl!Severa, And Chrom inigo, are a great couple (support and bonuses) Second, I need to know which skills (in parenthesis) Severa should choose out of Galeforce, (luna/Astra/Sol), armsthrift, LimitBreaker, (Vantage, Dualguard) I really only want one proc skill, and If she's in front, she's probably gonna use Sol if in back, she gets luna or astra, if she's in front, she gets vantage, if she's in back, she dualguards And Inigo Galeforce, Limitbreaker, (Rightful King, Armsthrift), (dualguard, Vantage, Armsthrift), (Astra/sol) Same deal, Scratch Luna, because Inigo gets more skill to activate astra a lot more. feel free to refute everything, they practically trade eachother's roles. Third, I need their Roles, note that I don't feel that Either of these two should go magic, save to grab skills, you may present said skills, because these are jus skills that I thought would fit best. finally, I am in need of Classes. I refuse to move inigo to dread fighter unless you tell me WHY? He really loses a lot of skill for just tomes, and I have more magic users than not. Same goes for dark flier severa, I see no point in it. Now for their classes I'm thinking for main unit would go Hero, while either a bow knight, Paladin, or great knight supports, thoughts?
  19. I saw some people wanted the Chrom and Cordelia Support Conversation and I am not sure what will anyone might think if that Severa might still going to hate Chrom if they included her as one of Chrom's potential children. I still kinda saw in her conversation in Paralogue 10 with mother and that Chrom talks to Severa that she still blames her mother to be alone after her death. So here's the poll that anyone can guess about it incase if anyone can think about this incase if Severa becomes as Chrom's potential daughter?
  20. Right now my pairings are: ChromxSumia VaikexLissa GaiusxOlivia HenryxMaribelle DonnelxSully FrederickxCherche GregorxPanne RickenxMiriel Lon'quxTharja KellamxNowi My avatar's asset is skill, flaw is HP. I was going to marry Cordelia for two really good children, but I'm thinking about switching him out with Virion so I can marry someone else. Severa can get good enough skills with either, she'll just be a bit more defensive with Virion. Feel free to critique my other pairs, but I'm mainly worried about Cordelia. Vaike and Lissa are already married, so I can't change that. Thanks for the help.
  21. I was wondering which male-only skill to give to Henry!Severa. I plan to switch her classes around quite a bit (so axefaire will be completely useless) and I do not need her for a streetpass team. That leaves Gamble, Wrath, and Counter as viable skills for her. I have the Dread Fighter DLC too, although I'm not sure if those skills can be inherited (so Res+10 and Aggressor if they can be). Right now I'm leaning toward Gamble, as it is effective in all offensive classes and can stack Crit. with forged killer weapons/ruin, although it does decrease hit. What do you think? Does Gamble sound like as good choice, or would other skills, like Counter or Wrath, work better? Unique Skills Severa can receive Barbarian Despoil Gamble Berserker Wrath Axefaire Warrior Rally Strength Counter Possible classes Mercenary Armsthrift Patience Hero Sol Axebreaker Bow Knight Rally Skill Bowbreaker Pegasus Knight Speed +2 Relief Falcon Knight Rally Speed Lancefaire Dark Flier Rally Movement Galeforce Dark Mage Hex Anathema Sorcerer Vengeance Tomebreaker Dark Knight Slow Burn :( Lifetaker Thief Locktouch Movement +1 Assassin Lethality Pass Trickster Lucky Seven Acrobat Troubadour :( Resistance +2 Demoiselle Valkyrie Rally Resistance Dual Support+ War Cleric Rally Luck Renewal Stat mods for Henry!Severa Str +3 Mag +1 Skl +5 Spd +3 Lck -2 Def +2 Res -1 ^Fairly decent, I believe. source: http://serenesforest.net/fe13/children/selena.html
  22. I happen to like Severa! And you CAN'T do ANYTHING about it.
