Robert Stewart
So, yeah. I'm doing this. This is a run of Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem (both books) where I will only use Marth and female units. Male units besides Marth can't see combat, open doors or chests, be danced for, or be the target of a status stave(excepting staves that affect all units). The only things male units beside Marth are permitted to do are visit houses, talk to other units (for recruiting, or other purposes), and to get hidden treasure. LET'S DO THIS! Book 1, Chapter 1: IT BEGINS OR NOT That doesn't sound good. Good thing that was all taken care of. Guess there's no reason for me to stick around- SUNNUVABITCH What a bunch of GOONS. I think this had less to do with Camus and Medeus's might than how crappy the Akeneian army is. YEAH, GO MARF'S DAD THOSE MOTHERFUCKERS. This is where we come in. aka Sir Not-Appearing-In-This-Run. er...yeah. I thought we had just established that. TBF when you have CAPTAIN OGMA fighting for you, you don't really need anyone else. Yeah, 14's way too young to be leading an army to liberate your homeland. 16 though? No problem there. OH SHIP, PIRATES! That thief's a dick. Really? I hadn't noticed. And Gordin's here too! And with that, we're off! Our starting crew. The aforementioned Sir Not-Appearing-In-This-Run and his two henchmen. Sir Not-Appearing-In-Any-Run. DOGA, THE POINT CHOKER. Sadly you will not be choking any points for us this time. Our hero. Our hero's waifu. Who needs the Wing Spear when you can use Silver Lances right from the start? Marth gets an Iron Sword and Shiida gets an Iron Lance. Marth goes looti- er, I mean, gets some support from the villagers. These guys can make themselves useful by speaking to some locals. Uh...yeah, I'll get right on that. I'll keep that in mind. Whoops. Need to be quicker taking these screenshots. You get the gist of it though. Shiida avenges the village. Marth goes after a pirate after the enemy phase. And Shiida goes in for the kill. This chump goes to avenge his matey. Unfortunately for him, Shiida is having none of that. (she dodged and hit him twice) This chump goes for Marth. It goes as you'd expect. Marth took a hit, and hit him back twice in return. Marth finishes what Shiida started. Shiida takes out the Hunter and gets the first level. Not bad. Marth gets attacked by a pirate goon and busts out two crits. He finishes both of the nearby pirates. Marth attacks this goon. It could've gone better Shiida finishes the goon and proctects her husbando. Shiida chips a goon. And Marth finishes. Shiida kills this guy to death. The goons approach. I take my chances and park Marth in a fort without using a Vulnery. Shiida hangs out on a mountain. [breathing intensifies] Marth licks his wounds, and Shiida goes in for the kill. I keep missing the screenshot for this level. It's the same as the last one Shiida got (Str, Spd, Wlv). This goon goes after Marth in EP. Marth dodges and puts the goon in kill range. Marth finishes and nets a level. (He also got MHP up) Shiida parks on the fort. Marth goes for the village. Instead of Wrys, we get a Vulnery! And nothing of value was lost. I'll keep that in mind if I ever go there. Marth and Shiida start taking down the remaining goons. And now the boss is all that's left. Shiida goes in. Fat chance with stats like yours. As expected. I'll take it. Defence or Strength would have been nice though. You suck, that's how. Shiida visits this last house. Awfully demanding for a random villager. KNOW YOUR PLACE, MONGREL. And we finish. Yes, there's one house left, but it's probably lived in by a bunch of GOONS who have nothing useful or noteworthy to say, so IDGAF. Damn straight you should be. Um, I never said that. But sure, whatever. CAPTAIN OGMA Speaking of that guy, where was he during all this? He probably could've solo'ed all these pirates on his own. Duly noted. [insert witty comment here] And that's it for now! Here's our end-of-chapter stats: Edited June 27, 2017 by Robert of Normandy

Robert Stewart
Posting Chapter 2 now because I'm just that nice. Book 1, Chapter 2: Duly noted. guys see it's a port, there's water and bridges. ports have those things, right? Our crew at the moment. One thing that's nice about FE3 is that there's a preparation screen before every chapter. CAPTAIN OGMA! Sadly, he will be taking no one's HP down to zero today. Ogma you're a cool guy, and there are no rumours of you and everything, but this is like the third time someone has told me about the pirates in this town. I GET IT, THERE BE PIRATES HERE. CAPTAIN OGMA and his squad of chumps. Marth channels his inner Doga and moves to choke the point. During the enemy phase, Gomer and two goons move to the caste, while two pirates and one hunter block the bridges. The Grustian cavaliers and Castor move out. This Hunter douche goes for Marth. This thief moves towards Marth, but doesn't attack. The Hand Axe pirate tries to hit Shiida. Tries. A goon goes for Shiida and bites it. I think she critted because she isn't strong enough to ORKO anything without that Silver Lance atm. Marth takes out the Thief. Shiida punishes the Hunter for hurting her Marthipan, and gets a level in the process. Goons attack Marth and Shiida. That poor Hand Axe pirate is just trying so hard, it's almost adorable. Ow. Shiida offs two pirates in retaliation for that. Luckily that second pirate misses. Shiida offs a pirate and nabs a level. Defense and HP FTW, she'll be needing those in the coming chapters. Marth finishes the thief and levels. Strength is nice. The two cavaliers come for Marth. He ORKOs both. Shiida moves to recruit the best bow user in Book 1. He lacks a vagooo, so we won't be using him this time around. Wait what the fuck you had money and you give it to someone other than me Shiida, we need to talk. I don't think you understand how things work around here. The Hand Axe goon goes for Shiida, but misses. As usual. He should really just save himself the embarrassment. A for effort though. Shiida puts him out of his misery. Castor goes to hit up a house looking for cash. That would be handy advice if I were going to use any bow users. Marth chugs a Vulnery as he heads for the boss. Shiida visits a house and gets some "sage advice." Marth baits one of the goons guarding the bridges. Marth moves to bait the remaining guards, and Shiida nabs the kill on the one already baited. Marth draws out the other pirate goon and nabs a decent level. The Hunter takes the bait as well, and Marth manages to dodge. Shiida kills the Hunter and nabs another level. Two defence levels in one map? TANK SHIIDA GOGOGO And Marth offs the pirate. More houses with people offering basic advice. I'm surprised how much these random townfolk know about warfare, though some of this is just common sense. Also, I think this is the second person to explain about weapon level. Time for more looti-er, I mean, checking up on the villagers. I'll think about taking care of this "Lena" lady, but I might need some additional...incentives. 3000 Gold? Only 3000 gold? The last village I went to gave me 5000. What are you, a village of cheapskates? Shiida moves to bait the goons surrounding the boss. They aggro, unlike the goons from last chapter. The last house. In FE1 there was a supply tent around her, if I recall correctly. Good thing they scrapped that mechanic. The last two goons go for Shiida, and she offs them. Our boss for the chapter. Something to note is that if you check an enemy's stat sheet in this game, it'll tell you how much EXP you get for killing them. In this case it's 62. Gomer here isn't really threatening in the slightest. Oh, and he has a Steel Sword for some reason. Shiida goes on the attack with an Iron Lance. Just want to soften him up so Marthipan can get the kill. Oh no u guise, gomer's a-comin' fer us! Lol. GG Gomer. Marth goes for the finish. Ouch. That was just to spite me, wasn't it? Marth responds by finishing Gomer and looting his corpse. Come back when you aren't a palette swap. I think Gomer was actually less of a threat than Gazzak. Before we leave, Shiida pays a visit to the armoury and buys us two Iron Swords and two Iron Lances. Now let's get out of this "port." I don't think I so much "chased them off" as "killed them until they died." but you're welcome all the same Psh. Their boss is another Gazzak palette swap, they can't be that tough. And we're done. here's Marth and Shiida as of right now. See y'all next time when we actually get another unit we can use. Edit: I've actually played up to Chapter 4, I just haven't sorted the screenshots/come up with witty commentary for Chapter 3 and 4 yet. So I've already recruited Matthis. Robert Stewart
Book 1, Chapter 3 Yadda yadda bandits 'n' stuff.Ooh, new blood! And one of them's a girl! A healer, no less!it's no "tick tock, move that frock", but it'll do.Shiida and Marth move north while the new blood moves south.Navarre and the bandit goons pursue. Shiida and Marth block their advance.I notice that thieves haven't been attacking. I wonder if they're programmed not to attack at all, or if they just don't attack units with higher defence than their pitiful attack?Navarre get. You all know how this one goes. I totally didn't just forget to save any screenshots of their conversation.Marth offs a thief and nets a decent level.I hand off Navarres Killing Edge since he won't be needing it. Also, at this point in the chapter I set cursor speed to fast. I didn't even know that was a thing you could do until the end of my last playthrough, and it helps the game feel slightly less clunky.DA GOONZ approach Marth Marth ORKOs all three and net another decent level.OH SHI-<3 you Shiida.(she would've survived even if it hit, but it's nice she dodged it altogether) Shiida gets the thief and a level. Looks like I was a bit pre-emptive in calling "Tank Shiida" last chapter. Marth gets back at the Hunter for aiming at his waifu.Julian pays a visit to some locals.Man mercenaries sound so badass. Wish I could use one. ;_; Navarre gets in on the act while Shiida, Marth, and Lena move further west. Yeah, this game doesn't have a Str/Mag split, nor does it have a fake split like the GBA games did. So for some reason, in this game being really buff makes you a better healer.Sadly this is not FE10 and healers cannot bop people with their staves. That's really awkwardly put. This dude's too old to give a shit about the boundaries of the text box. ...then why even give it to me in the first place?Anyway, the Devil Axe in this game is shitty and I wouldn't bother with it even if I were using one of the axe chumps. I'll pawn it off later.Shiida hops over the mountain and attacks one of the Hunter goons. A bandit good joins them in attempted revenge. I think all three of them missed. GG them.Or not, since I sent Shiida here to heal. The GOON SQUAD pursues. Shiida offs the Bandit and dodges one of the Hunters. And goes to finish what she started. At least she got speed... Some goon goes after Shiida. He missed. (I think)And Marth teaches this goon not to go after his waifu. You'd think this guy would've learned from what happened to the last guy. I wonder if this is payback for Shiida actually gaining strength... More goons fall and Marth loots a corpse. That Vulnery will be going to Lena. Our boss goon. Another Gazzack pallette swap.DEATH FROM ABOVELOL#REKT Shiida nets an okay level and a mend staff. Now out healbot can actually act as a healbot.Really? Because I've already forgotten you. Lena gets her mend staff and Vulnery. One thing that's kind of annoying is that in this game is that staves are treated as items and not weapons. This means that they can't be repaired, and they compete for space with other items like Vulneries. Though on the plus side, they don't compete for space with tomes. That's nice, I suppose.Lena heals Marth for a little EXP.There's nothing really worth buying, so we go ahead and seize. Some old guy appears and tells us he found 10000 gold.I wonder if these people who give Marth these ridiculously huge sums of gold actually counted out every coin, or if they just said "fuck it, this seems like 10000." Our crew at the end of this chapter. See you next time when we get a shitload of units that I can't use. Robert Stewart
Book1, Chapter 4 Basically, shit's hitting the fan.EL COYOTEOur crew.EL COYOTE and his moustache alert Nyna of our arrival.WAIT, NONYNA JOIN US PLZI mean you're kind of mediocre tbh but I could really use a mageNO I DON'T WANT THOSEAnyway, after this Haradin and the Wolfguard charge out onto the southern part of the map. Since this isn't Exalted Legacy, we can't use any of them.RIGHT, OFF WE GO.Shiida moves to the west to bait the enemies over there, while Marth moves to take care of the Cavaliers in the northeast.Marth kills the first cavalier and nets an okay level. And the next two Cavs follow the first.Lena patches up Marth's scratches. This Pegasus takes potshots at Shiida. And the other Pegasus makes the mistake of going after Marth. You think he'd learn from what happened to his Cavalier buddies.(And yes, all enemy Pegasus Knights in this games are all dudes. Weird, huh? don't ask me how I know this.)Killing that Peg nets Marth a level that's actually pretty good.Shiida dismounts and offs a Thief. She gets a Silver Sword for her troubles.Marth follows suit with the other Thief. The last Cavalier makes the mistake of going for Shiida.Surprisingly, our squishy healer does not go squish. And an archer takes a shot at Marth.Shiida teaches him that he's not supposed to do that~Marth walks on water and finishes the Javelin Pegasus.Sadly, our squishy healer does indeed go squish this time.ENTER MATTHISHe's so badass that we took away Shiida's weapons so he wouldn't get himself killed. Shiida get's her stuff back and takes out the Archer whomade Lena go squish.Lena tries to get her brother to calm down.Lena I don't know if you got the memo but we aren't taking anyone packing a sausage.I'll take his Iron Lance tho-wait....Wait whatThat's, uh....oddly specific, Matthis.Lena I think your brother might be a little over-protective.With that out of the way Marth finishes off the last Archer.Meh.Squishy heals Marth and nets an level. It's par for the course for her I'm afraid. I wish she'd at least get Wlv so she could use the Barrier we'll be getting next chapter....Shiida moves towards the castle and takes out an Armour Knight.Marth checks out the village.Er....no, I didn't mention it. Seriously, how you got from rural village -> isolationist port city-state thing.Fun fact about Pyrathi: Ogma was born there apparently. I felt like mentioning that here since Pyrathi's chapter was cut from this game, making all the references to it kind of odd. Thanks I guess? Sounds legit.YOU MOTHERFUCKER, HOLD STILL WHILE I KILL YOU!HOLY SHIT RESNOBODY EVER GETS RES IN THIS GAMEThis will be useful shortly.Shiida dismounts and waits for the boss to make his move.Man, I sure wish I could use one of those. >_>HOLY SHIT A BOSS WHO ISN'T A GAZZACK PALETTE SWAP.THE FUCK IS THISSHIIDA CONTINUES TO WRECK BOSSES SHITAND ALSO TAKE THEIR SHITSorry, but... THE MAGIC MANWhy couldn't you be the magic girlI think this is meant to be a reference to the support system.Speaking of, yes, this is the first game that offers supports. They're fixed and there's no visible indication of who supports with who, but they're there. With the boss deader than dead, Shiida moves to take care of that Bishop.I'll keep that in mind. (And you should too, come a certain chapter in Book 2)More sage advice from the locals. Shiida finishes the Bishop and nets a meh level. She's capped speed so there's not much room left for her to grow. And gets some nice loot as well. And on that note...I think that in this chapter the reinforcements stop if you've killed the boss, but you can never be too careful.Yup. And all this is reminding me that the early Book 2 chapters are going to be a pain with no Archers....Lena makes a trip to the armoury and buys two steel swords and steel lances. And with that, we're out!And we'll take care of them next time. And here's our crew at the moment. Next time, our first indoor chapter. Edited December 17, 2014 by shinpichu

Robert Stewart
Book 1, Chapter 5 I wish we had one that I could use. ;_;DA CREW. Magic Man and Julian are here to get Ricardo Montalban and The Wendigo.I'd like to see them try.Shiida opens the door and Julian recruits Ricard. Now that I think about it, shouldn't Ricard have been able to open that door on his own?Heh. Even with the awkward translation, I thought this was pretty funny.Shiida is so badass she can teleport now.NO ONE IS SAFE.The first Soldier falls. If I recall correctly, in very other version of this map there are Cavaliers up here and not soldiers. And the next Soldier follows suit. I was confused why Shiida was gaining Speed since she had capped it last chapter, but then I remembered that this game reduces stats when units dismount.Shiida replaces the key she used earlier. That's a good question, Magic Man. Didn't Wendigo here originally join in the last chapter?I guess they wanted to make sure you had Merric before you met Wendell. Plus, IMO it moakes more sense for the Medon troops to have thrown Wendell in the dungeon that to be like "hey decrepit old man, come fight with us!"That doesn't sound good. Don't worry, Wendigo, Marth and his harem are on the case! And we get a Barrier Staff. Sadly, our Squishy healer lacks the Con Wlv to wield this.Marth takes care of an Armour Knight. And then baits an Archer.DEM THIEVES BE STEALIN' MAH SHITactually, since we don't have thieves of our own or chest keys, that's a good thing for us.Marrth takes care of that Archer.Shiida teaches a Thief not to touch my loot. And gets loot for her trouble.Marth takes care of the second Archer. And gets a level. Can't complain about this one, really.Marth hands off the Armourslayer. And Shiida puts it to good use.Marth moves to reclaim our loot. Luckily, Squishy actually has the Wlv to use this, so it'll come in handy.Shiida reclaims more loot and levels. It's okay. And the last Thief goes down. Another Armourslayer is nice. These Armour Knights left the throne room with the wave of Thieves. They've been sort of moving around randomly, which is why it took them so long to get to us.Marth gets a level that's actually pretty good.Shiida eliminates the Bishop.Marth baits and one hits this Mage. you'd think mages would be more intimidating since nobody has Res, but then you remember that Mages have pitiful Strength. Our squishy healer becomes slightly less squishy.Marth baits out the Archer, and Shiida takes him down.HOLY SHIT RESAGAINWith all this Res, it almost makes up for Shiida losing her Res bonus indoors.Squishy levels. Couldn't you at least get Wlv? That's, like, the one stat you as a staffbot really need. And you're only one away from using Barrier. ;_;And the last two grunts get baited out.And they meet the fate you'd expect.Marth chips the Bishop and gets a meh level. Defence is nice, I guess. And Shiida finishes.COME AT ME, BROget rekked.Shiida continues to wreck bosses shit.Last level of the chapter, and it's...disappointing.More corpse looting.Blah blah, damn you rebels, see you in hell, etc.And now then end.A LADY TYPEPlease tell me you're joining us?...I guess not.She does give Marth some nice bling though. That's all, folks! Here's our units:Next time, the game taunts us with more girl units that we can't use yet. Edited December 17, 2014 by shinpichu

Squishy has a key to open the door to the village.HOLY SHIT IT'S MINERVAHe's kinda got a point there. Even if it is a bit awkwardly phrased.Or not. What a douche. She's right you know. Honestly I don't think anything can defeat Aritian Man.Shiida takes out an Archer and nets a level.I know you can barely make it out, but HOLY SHIT STRENGTHAnd Marth handles the other Archer. The two Mercs get taken down in EP. WATCH OUT, IT'S THE MINERVA PARTOLIntersting to note that Est actually has higher bases that Catria here. Marth kills one of the non-Minerva patrol Pegasus dudes.Shiida chips a DraGOON.MINERVA realizes that she is to cool for school and BAMFs off with her posse.ARITIAN MAN finishes the DraGOON.Marth goes to the village and meets some old guy who talks in coloured text.Except, y'know, anyone with a Wyrmslayer.TIKI RECRUITER GETShiida takes care of the last Pegasus. This was back in the days when MEN WERE MEN and didn't need no stupid Con to help buffer AS loss due to Weapon weight. And when weapons actually still had weight. Shiida offs the Thief and nets a Door Key. I'm not entirely sure why this guy exists - he spawns way too far away from the village to even be a threat to it.OH WELL, I DUN GIVE A FUCK. also Shiida leveled but it was pretty meh so who caresFUCK YOU LADY, IT'S MY MONEY AND I'LL DO WUT I WANT. Squishy warps Marth to the boss and nets a typical Squishy level.U just jealous of how much cooler Minerva is than you. :3YEAH ARITIAN MANTHAT'LL TEACH YOU TO TALK SHIT ABOUT MINERVAit's okay Marth, it happens to everyone. At least we got a Silver Lance.Don't worry 'stache man, ARITIAN MAN is on the case!or he will be in two chapters. With the boss dead the reinforcements won't spawn, so all that's left is to clean up these GOONS. Come on ARITIAN MAN, you can do better than this!We stop by the armoury. I think I mostly bought Slim Lances. And with that, we're out.I'd rather not, thanks....wait, why can we only talk about this now? What was stopping us talking about this in any of the chapters beforehand?I missed part of the text here, but you get the idea. Same old, same old.I thought it was Port Warren.Psh. No biggie. We've got nothing to worry about from these GOONS.The chapter puts Shiida and Squishy all the way over here so I have to wait a few turns before I can warp to the boss or try the arena.Oh yeah, we're basically warpskipping this chapter. Marth and Shiida are both nearing level 20 so I don't feel like bothering with the GOONS in this chapter.NO ROGER?0/10, WORST REMAKE EVER.There's this random Pirate from Pyrathi who's dicking around in the water on this map for some reason. Oh, and he has a Silver Axe.LET'S CHECK OUT OUR NEW BLOOD THAT WE CAN'T USERADD MORE LIKE BADD AM I RIGHTShiida takes out the Pirate and grabs his booty. not like that.Cesar Romero and Badd do the only thing they're good for and hit up some villagers. So, in other words, people die when they are killed?:3Well, it's not required, but moustache is right in that it helps.MAN I WONDER IF WE'RE GONNA BE GETTING ONE OF THOSE SOON, HUH GUYS?I tell that lady from last chapter to go fuck herself as I buy as much as I want.I think I just bought one of each type of tome, a few heal staves, and a few killing edges.Shiida tries the arena. She'd rather not talk about it. ARITIAN MAN has a better time of it.After that, we sequence break right to the boss. Holy crap defence. tank healer gogogo still no Wlv though. WHY MUST YOU TAUNT ME.Shit I think I forgot to heal him after the ArenaARITIAN MAN might actually be in trouble.OR NOTthat level is NOT BAD. Speed is nice I guess.GRUST SCHMUSTARITIA IS WHERE IT'S ATApparently we took long enough that the GOONS from the north actually reached the town. They're no match for ARITIAN WAIFU though.Shiida tries to make up for her less-than-stellar first attempt at the arena. It goes pretty well. Let's just take our winnings and let's get out of here.Like so.SUDDENLY CATRIASECRET AGENT CATRIA needs our help. That's no good.I feel like there's a Super Mario Bros. joke in here somewhere, but it hasn't come to me.Anyway, next time ARITIAN MAN saves Princess Maria.End of Chapter Stats: Edited December 17, 2014 by shinpichu

Really? I hadn't noticed. Names by the Jap/Euro version. :D Nice! Sadly this is not FE10 and healers cannot bop people with their staves. Unlike this version in the NES one, you don't get EXP for using staves. U just jealous of how much cooler Minerva is than you. :3 YEAH ARITIAN MAN THAT'LL TEACH YOU TO TALK SHIT ABOUT MINERVA Even though you can attack them (Whitewings) in the DS version which I never do anyway. Wow more than Duck and I have posted here Wow, Shiida's strength... >o> Power Ring will be her friend. That's needed since she will be needed to kill Medeus. She has to have 20 Str to be able to damage him any. ----- Um...you can do this game without Marth! Though it's annoying later in the game when he gets killed in one hit by everything whenever he's gotten misguided. See here in my vid of how to kill him without the Falchion...(Around the 50th minute-End) ^_^ Anything 20 Str and divine weapons are good against him. So, buying the Power Rings in Ch19 are a must. Sell the other stat ups and things that you aren't using to get the money for them! Edited October 30, 2014 by PuffPuff
