Drifloon
Cool. Though Linoan is a Sister, not a Mage. Should be in at least high tier; sure, he can't keep up, but since when has a knight ever managed to keep up without Boot useage at one point or another? Exactly. Just because it's a problem with the class instead of with his stats doesn't mean it isn't a problem. Class is as much a part of a unit as anything else. Drifloon
I'd just like to point out that it's Altenna, not Alteena, since you seem to be consistently making that typo :P Great job with this. Lord Glenn
I'd just like to point out that it's Altenna, not Alteena, since you seem to be consistently making that typo :PGreat job with this. Maybe one day we can have debates for this hack! XD It's all a matter of romanization and translation. For the purpose of this hack, yes, she's named "Altenna"; however, it's as open as people who vary Eden/Edain/Adean/etc. or any other characters' names due to the game only having translation patches. Don Draper
Alright, class guide is complete. Oh, and a very quick Glenn vs. Raymond vs. Alteena vs. Karsh vs. Raphael comparision. When they're all there: Glenn (4/0): 26 HP, 16 Atk(Iron Lance)/14 Atk(Iron Sword), 9 AS, 24 Avd, 4 Crit, 9 Def, 3 Res Raymond (2/0): 19 HP, 13 Atk (Iron Sword), 9 AS, 23 Avd, 5 Crit, 7 Def, 2 Res Karsh (6/0): 35 HP, 20 Atk (Iron Axe), 10 AS, 25 Avd, 4 Crit, 8 Def, 2 Res Alteena (9/0): 27 HP, 18 Atk (Iron Lance), 11 AS, 28 Avd, 5 Crit, 12 Def, 2 Res Alteena>Karsh>>Glenn>>>>Raymond for now. Alteena's winning or tying everything but Res (1 less then Glenn). Karsh has a massive offensive lead, but is losing move which is why he's not at the top.Glenn's beating or tying Raymond in everything, so Raymond's last. Later in the game (say around Chapter 16?) Glenn (10/0): 31 HP, 20 Atk (Steel Sword), 18 Atk (Javelin), 12 AS (11 Javelin), 31 Avd (29 Avd), 6 Crit, 11 Def, 4 Res Raymond (9/0) (C Eliwood): 26 HP, 16 Atk (Iron Sword), 19 Atk (Steel Sword), 13 AS (11 AS Steel Sword), 39 Avd (35 Avd), 9 Crit, 10 Def, 4 Res Karsh (10/0): 38 HP, 22 Atk (Iron Axe)/25 Atk (Steel Axe), 12 AS (10 AS Steel Axe), 30 Avd (28 Avd), 4 Crit, 9 Def, 3 Res Alteena (12/0): 30 HP, 20 Atk (Iron Lance)/19 Atk (Javelin), 13 AS (10 Javelin), 29 Avd (23 Javelin), 5 Crit, 13 Def, 3 Res Raphael (9/0: 34 HP, 21 Atk (Iron Axe)/24 Atk (Steel Axe), 12 AS (10), 31 Avd (27), 4 Crit, 8 Def, 2 Res Karsh continues to dominate offensively; even with an Iron Axe. Slightly lower Def is made up for much higher HP then everyone else. Alteena seems to have an overall lead though. Glenn and Raymond are almost even now, but Glenn has movement, 1-2 range, and Weapon triangle control. Rapheal is pretty similar to Karsh, but has slightly less HP/Atk/Def, so he's worse off then him. Alteena>Karsh>Raphael>>Glenn>Raymond Chapter 20/21ish. Everyone should have Killers by this time, from the Secret Shop+Silver Card Glenn (16/0) (B Leaf, C Nanna): 37 HP, 27/28 Atk (Killer Edge/Lance), 14 AS, 40 Avd, 49 Crit, 14 Def, 7 Res Raymond (16/0) (B Eliwood, C Linoan): 32 HP, 25 Atk (Killing Edge), 16 AS, 54 Avd, 48 Crit, 16 Def, 10 Res Karsh (16/0) (B Kid, C Kyosuke): 43 HP, 32 Atk (Killer Axe), 14 AS, 43 Avd, 51 Crit, 11 Def, 4 Res Alteena (18/0) (C Raphael): 35 HP, 27 Atk (Killer Lance), 16 AS, 44 Avd, 42 Crit, 16 Def, 4 Res Raphael (16/0) (B Sakura, C Alteena): 41 HP, 31 Atk (Killer Axe), 15 AS, 42 Avd, 51 Crit, 12 Def, 5 Res Right now, Karsh and Raphael are about tied, and both dominating offensively. Raymond has a decent avoid lead, and has the highest def/res. Unforunatly, he's the weakest offensively and will get WTD against the bulk of lance users. His HP is kind of hurting too. Poor Glenn is probably about equal to Raymond right now I would probably say, Alteena>Karsh>Raphael>Raymond=Glenn atm Promotion time. I was probably a bit generous with the supports though Glenn (20/1)(A Leaf, B Nanna): 44 HP, 33/34 Atk (Killer Edge/Lance), 18 AS, 52 Avd, 59 Crit, 18 Def, 11 Res Raymond (20/1) (A Eliwood, B Linoan): 39 HP, 31 Atk (Killing Edge), 20 AS, 72 Avd, 51 Crit, 22 Def, 16 Res Karsh (20/1) (A Kid, B Kyosuke): 51 HP, 38 Atk (Killer Axe), 18 AS, 58 Avd, 63 Crit, 15 Def, 8 Res Alteena (20/1) (B Raphael): 41 HP, 31 Atk, 19 AS, 54 Avd, 48 Crit, 18 Def, 8 Res Raphael (20/1) (A Sakura, B Alteena): 48 HP, 37 Atk, 20 AS, 56 Avd, 78 Crit, 15 Def, 7 Res Alright, so Karsh/Raphael are owning offensively, Raymond's owning defensively, and Glenn/Alteena are balanced in the middle. Alteena's atk is tied for worst with Raymond, and loses to Glenn in everything but 1 AS. She's probably the worst. Raphael>Karsh now thanks to that crit. Raymond does look pretty nice with those defensive stats, but might not even be able to promote right now, thanks to Linoan (Who will definately reach 20/0 faster, and is currently higher on the tier list). Right now, I see it as Raymond>Raphael>Karsh>Glenn>Alteena, although Raymond's position on the overall tier list will be lowered thanks to the possibility of having to wait to promote. And to show how epic Leaf is: Leaf (20/7) (A Nanna, B Glenn): 43 HP, 34/35/36 Atk (Killer Edge/Lance/Axe), 18 AS, 53 Avd, 70 Crit, 20 Def, 16 Res Keep in mind, I am underestimating Leaf's level. He should probably be around 20/9 at this point. K, I'll do one more comparision: Glenn (20/13) (A Leaf, B Nanna): 55 HP, 43/44 Atk (Silver Sword/Lance), 24 AS, 69 Avd, 37 Crit, 23 Def, 15 Res Raymond (20/13) (A Eliwood, B Linoan): 49 HP, 41 Atk/43 Atk (Silver Sword/Axe), 25 AS (22 Silver Axe), 87 Avd (81 Silver Axe), 44 Crit (39 Silver Axe), 26 Def, 19 Res Karsh (20/13) (A Kid, B Kyosuke) 60 HP, 48 Atk (Silver Axe), 24 AS, 74 Avd, 40 Crit, 18 Def, 11 Res Alteena (20/13) (A Raphael): 52 HP, 42 Atk (Silver Lance), 49 Atk (Gaebolg), 24 AS (22 AS Gaebolg), 72 Avd (68 Gaebolg), 31 Crit (33 Crit Gaebolg), 23 Def (28 Def Gaebolg), 11 Res Raphael (20/13) (A Sakura, B Alteena) 60 HP, 48 Atk (Silver Axe), 26 AS, 72 Avd, 55 Crit, 19 Def, 10 Res K So Alteena's on top, thanks to having good defense, and being able to switch to Gaebolg when she needs the extra offensive/defensive boost. Raphael>Karsh thanks to critical, but they are pretty much tied. Raymond slightly>Glenn too, but his level might be a bit lower if he's promoting later. Alteena>Raymond>Raphael>Karsh>Glenn ATM Alright, so overall: Alteena owns everyone before promotion, loses slightly just after promotion, and then comes out on top again. She's probably top. Raphael has massive offense, and decent defense. He's not quite as epic as Alteena, but wins against Glenn and Raymond for the majority of the game. He's just above Karsh, as his late game advantages>Karsh's earlygame advantages. Karsh is pretty much Raphael with slightly more HP/Atk, and slightly less AS/Crit Raymond has pretty poor atk for the majority of the game, but almost makes up for it in defense. Glenn is probably performing the worst overall. He's decent earlygame, but then just falls short. For tier purposes, Linoan will probably have a level lead over Raymond (If they aren't both 20/0 by then), so Raymond's probably staying where he is for potentially having a late promotion. With that comparision, I'll reorder the tier list accordingly. Edited February 12, 2009 by IOS
Mekkah
I'd just like to note that I like this hack as some sort of an FE vacation. I can use whoever the hell I like without a care for the world. And some of the dialogue is pretty damn hilarious. So yeah, amazingly well made. Cruz has the most ugly and annoying face I've ever seen though, and this is coming from someone who likes Gonzales. Herr Wozzeck
Cruz has the most ugly and annoying face I've ever seen though, and this is coming from someone who likes Gonzales. That's likely to happen when art styles conflict. You could also say the same for Hawkeye's replacement, too...
Mekkah
The game freezes at the first enemy phase of Four Fanged Offense (Linus). The screen scrolls up (I suppose for the Nino/Jaffar conversation), then every enemy greys out, and after a few seconds the screen goes white. I just had an attempt where it didn't, so it doesn't seem 100% consistent... http://www.imagenerd.com/uploads/mk_freeze-psKMd.png

Mage Knight 404
Mekkah: It's explained in the Readme. You need to completely skip the opening cutscenes by pressing Start to bypass that glitch. I have no idea how or why that works, but it does. Mekkah
Yeah, sorry about that, I figured the Readme only covered patching, but it didn't. I almost finished playing this, and I like the balance. It seems nobody is really bad at crucial stats, though some units stick out for me moreso than others. Obviously, this is Eliwood Normal Mode, so EXP gain rates are sky high, with staves helping too. I enjoy the considerable boost in enemy power after some point (I think it's roughly around what used to be the Vaida chapter). My favourites to use are probably Glenn, Linoan and Sakura. I also obviously appreciate all the trouble went through with mugs, animations, etc. They look really neat. Enemy variety is great as well, both in classes and weapons. The story does have very good moments, especially the whole making fun of the tutorial thing, and some of weapon descriptions (especially Luna). There's some things I don't like, but they're personal preference and also very understandable. The similarity between some of this dialogue and FE7 one just feels...I don't know, but I also get that changing everything would be just too much to ask for. Oh, and is the Stray Thief Class supposed to be just like a thief with axes? Because I think he failed to pick up a desert item for me before, but that may have been intentional. Mage Knight 404
Oh, and is the Stray Thief Class supposed to be just like a thief with axes? Because I think he failed to pick up a desert item for me before, but that may have been intentional. It doesn't get the Thief desert item finding. Maybe I need to give it the movement pointer of a Thief, because Thief(F) can do it. If not, well... No big loss. :x

Drifloon
I think all the new characters in this hack are fine. I'd just work on replacing the characters that were kept the same, like Matthew and Sain. I don't think anyone actually uses them anyway with all the new choices. I'd also have liked Eliwood to be replaced, but obviously that's not happening =P
Ack-Tar
I played through the entire hack and enjoyed it rather thoroughly. I did, though, notice that some of the support conversations were rather screwy. Mia and Sakura, for one...it gives the old Erk/Serra text, but with Jenny as Serra and Shion as Erk. Raymond/Matthew gave even stranger results: no conversation, Matthew got the bonus, but Raymond got no bonus out of it. As for characters...Cruz just seemed really out of place. I don't know, but something about his appearance was just too unsettling. That, and it seemed almost like he was an afterthought with Luna and Excellen outclassing him. Viper and Kyle also appeared rather useless. By the time they arrive, there are characters that clearly outclass them (Kyosuke) or, in Kyle's case, will outclass them as a result of being "forced" (Raymond). Can't say who I'd like in place...ideally Haar or Volke from FE9, but that's personal preference. And I don't know about anyone else, but I used Sain and Matthew...the improved growths and Paladin stat caps really helped Sain, and Shishioh Blade + Assassin = carnage. Roxas
...mmm Mk404? Is there some way that you can make this patch into only 1 ips file? I know you said to dl stealth patch or w.e, but my parents are the most retarded asians that live in america, so of course, we have a mac. The patcher I use keeps spitting out errors every time I try to patch it... o_o

(And with characters and stuff switched around, that's the reason things are goofy.) It's on the list of things for me to do. (Pairing and writing the support scripts, that is.) 2) If by appearance, you mean face sprite, it's so that he's representative of the game he's from (Yggdra Union). ( If that's the case, the same should also be said for Milanor and Gulcasa. ) If you're meaning character-wise, I don't know what to say, other than it certainly wasn't an afterthought, given that most of the Prologue - Ch. 10 characters were planned in the order that they appear. ...mmm Mk404? That being said, however, Tsukuyomi (the main UPS patcher) is Windows/Linux only (from what I've read), and, as far as I know, Nintenlord's UPS patcher is Windows only (unless it isn't running on the .NET Framework, in which case, it might be cross-platform). MK uploaded an IPS version of the patch on FEU, but it's apparently a dual IPS setup, meaning you'd still need StealthPatch. I guess you're out of luck, unless someone happens to go around making a Mac OS-compatible UPS patcher. :/ Edited March 2, 2009 by Lord Glenn
