  1. Luckily, Morgan remains as such in the UK version of Awakening. Whilst it would have been interesting to have had the option to rename him or her if desired, I think it is a good name for the character because it is used for boys and girls. Seeing as the child is known as Mark in the Japanese version, the name change makes sense.

I first heard about Fire Emblem when it came out on the Gamecube in the UK but it wasn't until January of this year that I actually started playing one of the games - Awakening. I had been put off because of the permadeath feature and the fact that the series was of the SPRG (strategy role-playing game) genre. I'm not very good at strategy games in general, let alone SRPGs. But my friend recommended Awakening because it was geared toward beginners as well as experienced players. It turned out she had ended up with a spare game cartridge when she got Awakening new from the local game shop (having found two in the box) so she gave one to me when I was around her house in January. I gave it a try, setting the difficulty to Normal and the mode to Casual. She helped me through character creation, the first supports and the tutorial. I loved it and have been addicted ever since. I'm still playing the game, having not reached the end yet. I tend to name any characters I create in games after myself because it adds to the experience and gets me more into the story. Thus, the Avatar has my name and I have customised her appearance to be somewhat similar to my own. I created two game files so I could try out different supports (and also because I couldn't decide between Lon'qu and Chrom when it came to which one I wanted to marry! In the end, I decided on the former for my first run). I have started playing an English patched version of the New Mystery of the Emblem on Casual mode and Normal difficulty via an emulator. I wanted to find out more about the Hero-king, Marth, so I was delighted to discover that there was another Fire Emblem game featuring him with Casual mode. I have to say that I am enjoying the New Mystery of the Emblem a lot too. I'm learning about what happened before Chrom's time so that will enhance my understanding of the references in Awakening and of Fire Emblem canon as well as the series timeline. Thanks to my friend and Awakening, I'm now a Fire Emblem fan. I'll be more likely to try out other games in the series once I get the hang of the strategy behind it all. I look forward to chatting to other fans here! When it comes to other games, I'm an RPG fan. I tend to play JRPGs because I like them the most. I prefer RPGs with real-time battles and not turn-based ones, though among the few exceptions are the Pokemon series and of course Fire Emblem. One of my favourite RPGs is Skyrim and my favourite JRPG series is the Tales series. I'm a big anime and manga fan, having got into the genre ten years ago when I was only twelve. It was at that time that I got into JPRGs too. One could say it all started back then. Ever since, I have had an interest in Japanese culture and the language, which led me to go on to further education and study it at university. However, I'm picky when it comes to games, anime and manga because if I don't like the drawing/animation style or the story, I won't continue with it or even consider it. A good example of this is One Piece. I didn't like the story or the style so I stopped reading it after a couple of chapters. I couldn't get into it and the style was not only jarring but too childish and grotesque. Some of my fave anime and manga series include Naruto, Bleach, Inuyasha, Fushigi Yuugi, Attack on Titan, Sword Art Online, Fruits Basket, Yugioh, Pokemon, Digimon, Ceres Celestial Legend, Fairy Tail, Kyou Koi wo Hajimemasu and more.
