  1. I couldn't get over that guy's colloquialism's and grammatical shortcuts. I expect a degree of professionalism in a FAQ. The mock run is really nice, although he speeds through the menus and such so fast that I have almost no idea what half the options do.
  2. I only mention the resources for the Manster chapters because I was recently trying to take stock of everything you can have available (for instance, you get two Rapiers, not one as my memory had suggested), and because it's in these chapters that you really need them. Having Killers later is a good find but not really as important when you can pick your team and have Fin and Othin and Halvan back and etc. You lack a bit of luxury in Manster, and you have limited inventory space since you have to hold a ton of Vulneraries and various other loot (Physic staves for Safy's later use, a couple tomes for Asvel, whatever else you feel like stealing). Something like a Killer makes Fergus and Machua a lot stronger, and I wasn't sure if that might influence their tiering. The bow thing and Selfina though... still not sure if her shit stats are going to make her terribly useful.
  3. Eyvel can be ordered to attack Mareeta, but she will not actually attack, nor will she counter if Mareeta attacks. It's a mother's love.
  4. Mareeta disappears as soon as the door is opened, so no. Robert cannot "share" the Killer or Brave Bows with Selfina because he starts with an E. Selfina starts with a B. It's like comparing Eda and Dean's sword rank. One is awesome, and one doesn't even exist. Robert is not breaking 7 Mt with his weapons until he ranks up once, which is kind of sad because even Tanya can do better than that. Oh, did I mention the sniper in ch5 who has a 15 Mt Silver Bow and is relatively easy to capture or rob? I didn't? Well guess what rank the Silver Bow is! So Selfina has, I am not fucking kidding, 3 awesome weapons that she alone has any hope of ever using until Xavier joins up. I mean sure you can just sell them or save them, but that seems almost criminal with a Killer and a Hero. And I would agree with Xavier > Dalshien. There's a lot of good to Xavier and he certainly helps from 19-22 at the very least. He can sit on the bridge in 22 getting rushed by horsemen and not even give a shit. Give him the King Sword and he's helping everyone else too. Dalshien is just fucked by outdoor maps and an overabundance of Hammers in chapters like 14 (seriously WTF is with every armor having a Hammer in that one). Plus when he promotes his new weapons all start at E. Ouch.
  5. Random thought: Brighton over Nanna to top of High? Nanna's staff rank is pretty sad, and she has to do so much work to get it up there. Earth Sword is nifty but she's still exceedingly weak and fragile. Charisma's nice but Delmud certainly isn't helped much by it on this list. By contrast, Brighton will have a decent Sword rank since he starts okay and has the Manster chapters to fight dismounted. Then he's got Wrath, a horse, and axes.
  6. He has a 0% chance of killing Eyvel. EDIT: To elaborate for the uninitiated: Eyvel is invincible before then. She also has 1 more BLD than Shiva. He is guaranteed to miss her if his attack would kill her. So she can eventually capture him. Also he has no 2-range and doesn't move so he can get Hand Axed or Pugi'd, although that risks killing him.
  7. Well I dunno. "Too risky" to me is trying to capture Galzus (not that anyone will have any chance of this with his 18 BLD or anything). The arena Swordmaster wasn't THAT badass when I fought him. Also having just replayed through those chapters, man, Asvel really has offense issues without Grafcalibur. EDIT: Selfina doesn't have a leadership star. She's just an okay supporter.
  8. Dalshien with the Brave Axe then? Weaken the guy with Eyvel before opening the door? There's ways to lessen the risk, and I think a Killer is worth it.
  9. Doesn't she give Glade a double bonus? Of course, that only really helps if it makes him any better, and as much as I like Glade he isn't terribly great statistically.
  10. If mounted: Melee EXP x 1 If unmounted: Melee EXP x 1.5 @Renall: Lifis has 6 BLD as his base. So basically, don't mount Robert or Selfina unless you need to and they gain more exp that way. I wonder if that can salvage either of them. And it's academic as his BLD should rise at least 2 points. On averages it may or may not, but if it does it's available and if it doesn't you can capture the Swordmaster with Brighton I think. I'm only noting it because the Killer Sword is particularly common during those chapters; there's two and then Shiva brings another in ch7. Fergus pretty much has a god-given right to one of them since Karin is forced around to support him, but giving the other one to Machua seems fair (Brighton doesn't need it, Lifis and Lara are busy, Leaf still has his Light Sword, Fergus is using one + the Brave and Fire). There's a chance she'll Ambush-crit and kill someone off without taking damage that way.
  11. I almost feel like she's been beaten up enough. She's dropped considerably from where she first was. She's not that bad because her contribution during the Manster chapters is essentially positive; she has competitive durability and is all but guaranteed to double. She should be capable of using the Killer Sword or a Rapier too. You have to use her, and she's fine, and then you can drop her afterward. That's really not so bad, is it? Some units are no use at all. EDIT: By the way, there are two Killers in the Manster chapters. Shiva has one from 2x that Leaf can bring in, and the Swordmaster who appears in the ch5 arena has one. It's only 7 Wt; Lifis (Rifis? I'm starting to think his name was meant to be "Rufus") has 7 BLD as his base, so he ought to be able to jack it by the time it shows up.
  12. Well, having a higher rank in this game is always extremely helpful as it can be a touch hard to raise things. Being at least a D in Axes helps a bunch (this is Machua's problem post-promotion, E Axes). As you said, it lets him wield the Brave, which is all he really wants besides maybe the Hammer. Still, it means he's able to use stolen Battle Axes, Hand Axes, Brighton's Steel Axe, whatever he wants. And then when he promotes, he doesn't have to worry about his Axe rank and can use other weapons, if you're still using him.
  13. How can they even think that? She can't even move in half the chapters she's in.
  14. Given how much negative-hype Fiona gets, she could be overrated as much as Lilina by a few people and still not be overrated. Plenty of people think she's just awful. And she is, I mean, it's just a lot of people actually agree.
  15. Or kill him in one turn. Having Sety on standby to get Warped right in front of him helps.
  16. Was there ever any point to doing so? I can't think of one. Avoiding Horseslayers maybe, but there aren't that many and he could probably tank one.
  17. Because having a #RKO that is bigger than 2-3 is considered hype? Well, you could argue they're overrated as Jesus-level units on difficulties that do not require anyone that defensively powerful. If it's an H5 discussion, obviously they aren't overrated, but it's not like you really need them on Normal or whatever.
  18. No, I specifically took it into account. I ran the numbers, but the server eated them up. On a given map she'll dodge about one time more than Holyn, maybe more maybe less, so it puts her durability at about his level. They're basically right next to each other in terms of where they ought to be ranked. There are a few areas where Holyn can take more than one hit extra compared to her, and he comes out ahead overall (in my opinion) because of those situations. There aren't really any instances where Ayra has vastly more favorable terrain than a Forest, so she doesn't get the same edge his extra HP and DEF give him. And you can swing the contest entirely one way or the other by giving one a ring, or the Hero Sword.
  19. Actually the thing about Holyn's durability amounting to ~1 hit is about right. Ayra's Avoid lead will give her ~1 extra dodge if she's on favorable terrain. It's pretty close. I prefer Holyn for concrete durability but honestly the real question is "who gets the Hero Sword?" And the answer is Beowulf or Noish, because they have a horse. OWNED. Also: Cuan? Overrated? Seriously? I've never heard ANYONE hype Jamka or Cuan. People will give Jamka props, especially in recent months where his good points have come more to light, but he's hardly "overrated." Surely no one thinks Captain Non-Doubling Prepromote is so incredibly awesome as to overrate him. Also I'd say overrated for FE5 is like Carrion. He's good, don't get me wrong, but for a while he was in Top or something (that may have been on GameFAQs pre-Serenes tier list) and Fergus and Shiva weren't, which was funny as hell. Also, call me crazy, but I don't think Mareeta's the most overrated. Oh sure, she's a little overrated, but she can be pretty damn powerful. Her hype is at least partially justified by some pretty good benefits. Having one of FE5's brokedy-ass personal weapons never hurts.
  20. Wow. No. Ayra's overrated because both she and Holyn kill things. But Holyn has something she doesn't: Durability. It's barely superior durability. The real reason they're overrated is they don't have horses. Also Lex is amazing wtf. Monopoly on axes (lol Ardan), Hero and Hand by ch1, and Elite. He doesn't have to do a damn thing to pair with Ayra, which is nice if you just want to get her paired up and out of the way, and he's never a liability. Certainly he'd be overrated if people said he was better than Sigurd or something, but no one would do that. And Jamka? WTF, nobody overrates Jamka. If anything he's underrated.
  21. Supports are one-way; Reinhardt supports Olwen, but Olwen only supports Fred. She shouldn't be giving her brother any bonuses.
  22. Machua and Dalshien at least have the Manster prison break chapters, and they're pretty decent in those (and you can't really afford to be picky in those chapters about who you use). Dalsh has some fine-ass Axe rank too.
  23. He also joins you with 5 leadership stars for one map even if you get Sety instead, right? So that's pretty handy. Then you have (if you take him) two or three chapters of A staves, okay bases, and +15% leadership bonuses to the entire team. 15% isn't small, especially against Dark Warlords where having lots of hit and evade is always useful to kill them quickly. As for the Lenster failures: Glade is acceptable for not using a promo item and giving a leadership star, though he's worse than Fin in just about every other area. Still good to throw in if you have a free slot, and on some maps you will since there are a couple high-deployment maps. But Kein and Alva are just underleveled and largely inferior to Fin and Carrion (no swords on horse means no Elite Sword, no Brave Lance, not supported by Leaf), and it goes without saying they don't compare to the likes of Fergus, Othin, etc. If your team needs a combat unit there are much better options, even if Kein and Alva do scroll well (but they'll never be able to actually level outside Elite Mode because they're so weak to start). Plus even if they scroll well, they're still just Lance Knights. Meh. By contrast, Robert has a few things going for him. He's got a horse, which automatically makes him better than Ronan and Tanya at mobility. He has the highest STR growth of the archers (counting Ronan, Tanya, and Selfina). His bases are comparable to Selfina's, 7 levels lower than her. He has some marginal scroll potential which would allow him to fill a role (chip damage with bows, which are not a high-demand weapon type in this game). His major flaw is E Bows to start though, and I really have no argument to make that any better. Speaking of: Does Selfina having B Bows really not make that much of a difference for her? She has a literal monopoly on Silver, Killer, and Brave Bows before Xavier shows up to rock shit with his A Bows. Who else is going to use them? And at least there's some value to an archer for picking people off and softening bosses. It isn't much, but it ought to salvage them a little, oughtn't it? I realize that Selfina's stats are garbage, but it's not like in other FEs we don't use a character for a bit until they become a liability and kick them to the curb, and someone ought to make use of the Killer Bow (Xavier doesn't need crit, but he does want the Brave).
  24. There's no legitimate reason to argue Dieck is overrated, no. It might chap asses but let's be honest, his bases are incredible. Still, it might be unfair to argue him as unstoppable and awesome all game (he's a bit slow later on in Hard, though the massive CON helps). I don't think anyone really overrates him though. Also, screw dancers. Overrated unless they're FE4 dancers and maybe FE10 Reyson. Maybe.
  25. Who is he better than? I can see him being better than Robert, Kein, Alva and Fred (and I can see Robert better than Kein and Alva), although Glade is questionable because Glade is at least providing a leadership star (Cyas's big sell) for much longer than Cyas would.
