  1. Maybe it's so heavy when you swing it the momentum spins you completely around and you hit again.
  2. Speaking of guides, are there any good ones? GameFAQs has a few that are utterly unreadable.
  3. Calill could only use knives. If she had picked staves instead, maybe Largo would be in FE10.
  4. So, say, something like: Armorslayer Killer Edge Hammer (why not) Brave Axe Light Sword Lockpick Baldo Scroll Hezul Scroll Then maybe a couple more Iron Swords, but leave open some inventory space so the Rapier spawns?
  5. I forget, does everything Leaf has in his inventory at the end of ch3 show up in the chest rooms in ch4? I usually bank the scrolls for safekeeping but they'd be very useful in those chapters, along with my usual haul of the Killer Edge and Armorslayer that turn Fergus into Jesus. Also, what happens with Lifis's inventory? Does it also get put in chests? It'd be nice to bring some extra Iron/Short Swords, an axe or two for Brighton, Javelin for Karin, Fire for Asvel, etc. I've just never really bothered to experiment with it. The maps show up to 18 chests available (4x rooms of 4x chests), but that's more inventory than Lifis and Leaf even have... so what's up with that?
  6. Ambush is meant to be insurance and semi-reliable enemy phase killing. Plus she's very close to Bolting and she can use those, you can get 3-4 before Eyrios is even available (you can save them for him of course, if you're inclined to). If Eyrios had a high base Fire weapon rank, he'd easily be better than Olwen since he could spend the rest of the game spamming Meteors from 8000 miles away. He's pretty close on Fire rank but Olwen actually starts closer. How 'bout them apples.
  7. To clarify: Eyrios is recruitable if Olwen is not in your army. There are two ways to accomplish this: 1) Never recruit her. 2) Recruit her, then kill her. Either works, as long as she is not in the army at the time and is not captured. You might think yourself clever to get Olwen captured and then try to recruit Eyrios, but that won't work.
  8. I think this is pretty close. It just isn't worth it to recruit her anyway. I mean if you're gonna make recruitment painstaking and annoying, at least make the character somewhat worthwhile like Xavier. Go to the trouble of having Roy accost Cath every time she shows up and you get... another thief. When you already have two of them. And they can't promote. And they're better anyway.
  9. Obviously because getting hit hard enough makes you tougher. Unless you're an archer who never gets attacked, and your DEF goes up. Then I guess you're taking drugs. Why are Boots consumed when used?
  10. Lex!Arthur actually has pretty shitty MAG. The Hero Sword is probably better.
  11. I thought SSS only required you to have alive the maximum number of recruitable characters at the end of the game. Since Olwen and Eyrios are mutually-exclusive, you have to have one but must not have neither.
  12. Thunder. Seeking Earth or Water affinity in desirable class to trivialize whatever game we're in.
  13. Could someone explain it? YayMarsha's run skips through things and I can't read Japanese anyway so I'm sort of in the dark about it, except that characters seem to be learning skills as they level up. Also I kind of WTF'd at Narron's promotion gains. And at lv10? What the shit, man. Then again growths by level in Tear Ring seem to be a lot lower in general so the gigantic promo gains at low levels might make sense.
  14. FE5 isn't so bad because enemies have marginal amounts of CON (even in the first chapter of Thracia, the pissant Soldier mooks can have enough CON to only lose a couple AS from Javelins and the like) and Evade caps out at 0. FE4 though, holy shit, every goddamn brigand has negative evasion. I can't recall if negative evade counts any different than zero though. Your point is valid though; some people do run into doubling issues. I'm trying to think of who has such issues that hasn't had those problems acknowledged already though.
  15. Tiltyu/Azel with innate Elite isn't terrible. Arthur will make up for his lack of Holsety by leveling at a fairly decent clip and should get his horse in time for it to matter, then he becomes Azel 2.0 and is alright. Tinny will be trainable, though not as nicely as with Minor Holsety. They'll have Pursuit at least.
  16. One of Dew's skills is overwritten by Elite. I forget which one but it shares the address or something, unless Mekkah was able to find the address that gives both. Of course that wouldn't matter to the children, as they'd still pick it up from Ayra. And Holyn!Patty isn't exactly useless. She has to whore the Hero Sword for a while, but she becomes as respectable a fighter as a thief is ever going to be, and it gives her a nice HP buffer (granted, she usually has >100% regardless, but 135% > 105%). I don't see any particularly good reason NOT to do Brigid x Holyn unless you can come up with a better use for Holyn. And I don't really think he's Ayra's ideal under any circumstances unless you're giving the Balmung to Lakche (which is just stupid).
  17. Innate Elite means there's not much reason to pair Lex. Can't pass his axes down anyway and while his blood is decent, I can mostly only see it mattering for a few rare situations and he doesn't have Pursuit. Not a problem for Ayra regardless, but for other ladies it might be. With everyone having Elite, you may as well go with Noish. I don't recommend Ayra x Holyn simply because Holyn is so good with Brigid, but if you've decided not to go that way then he's an excellent choice for her I suppose. The aforementioned pairing list is about as close to what I consider "ideal" pairings as the game can really have. Innate Elite doesn't change much besides making them all even better.
  18. Marty as an Axefighter, Halvan as the Brigand would've been interesting if he had enough time to get his Bows rank up. Halvan with a Brave Bow? Yes please.
  19. k. lv1 Lord(H)!Lilina HP: 17 (80%) STR: 11 (65%) SKL: 6 (20%) SPD: 7 (45%) LCK: 4 (50%) DEF: 8 (20%) RES: 3 (12%) No wonder she supports Gonzales. Oh, and 13 CON. l~o~l And freshly promoted to Great Lord at lv20: HP: 36 STR: 24 SKL: 12 SPD: 19 LCK: 14 DEF: 13 RES: 10 Well, she's pretty well-rounded and has 15 CON but she ain't hitting shit without swords. vs. lv1 Beserker!Gonzo she's losing HP by a ton (he has 53-54), winning STR by 2, tied in SKL (lol), about the same SPD or faster, and better LCK, DEF, and a huge RES lead. vs. her father at the same level, she's losing HP by 3, winning STR by 6 (yes, really), losing SKL by 2-3, winning SPD by 4-5 (yes, really), LCK by 6, losing DEF by 5, tied in RES. Dare I say it, but she's... better than her father?
  20. Oh my God, you just broke the game. Base Stats Warrior!Gatrie (FE10): lv10 Warrior HP: 45 (65%) STR: 26 (70%) MAG: 3 (10%) SKL: 19 (45%) SPD: 22 (70%) DEF: 17 (50%) RES: 9 (20%) LCK: I assume this is left the same? Basically crushes Boyd on any level, especially that godly SPD and higher SPD and DEF base.
  21. Wait why is Leaf of all people included in the list of Mary Sue lords? Leaf screws up royal. So bad it gets a bunch of people killed. And he's pretty indecisive overall, relying on August to tell him what to do. And it's not like Lyn/Hector/Eliwood make a ton of decisions on their own. They rely on the tactician for the most part.
  22. What would you propose then? Is the list wrong or is it just this line of thinking (which I've never really seen anyone advance)?
  23. Oh and speaking of. Promoting from Axefighter -> Hero gives Othin and Halvan an automatic D in Swords, which means Steel (which is all they really need) and also the Elite sword is E-rank if they for some reason wanted one of those. Swordfighter -> Hero gives Machua +1 Sword rank (oh boy) and E Axes. So no Hand or Hero for her. She's a low-priority promotion too, so good luck ever being able to use any decent axes with her. That was basically her only hope of dealing damage too. She's pretty lousy.
  24. Poor, poor Machua. How did you ever get up so high in the first place?
  25. That's also a SSS run. Clearing the final chapter in a reasonably efficient number of turns hardly necessitates an ungodly degree of staff abuse. Mind you, it does HELP.
