Right now my friend and I (my friend being a huge fan of all of Takahashi Tetsuya's "Xeno" games with Xenosaga III as their favorite game of all time) are choosing to be cautiously optimistic about the game. It's the same attitude I had coming into Fates, and since I seem to be one of the few people who don't hate Fates at the moment, I'm gonna conclude it's a good attitude to have. I have some misgivings in terms of some of the art and the voice acting (Rex especially) but overall it seems like it will be good. While we don't have much to go off of in terms of speculation as of yet, I'm going to be constructing a "Plot Bingo Board" as we get closer to release. So far I have "Pyra dies" and "Someone (probably Pyra) gets crucified"

I think OG designs for all the characters who have them (Marth sans pants, Caeda sans pants, Celica in her yellow and red dress, etc.) Having the Adult version of Tiki could also be cool (though needing to rig a larger model to Tiki's animations might be more work than KT wants to do just for a costume) Alternate classes would also be cool (Great Knight Xander, Wyvern Lord Camilla, Paladin Frederick, etc.) Outfits referencing other characters I'm reluctant to do unless it's characters who definitely won't be included in any way shape or form (such as Ryoma dressed as Sumeragi as Ana suggested)

For all we know there are clasps or something on the back of the dress (we don't see it as it's always covered by her armor). Either that or she just has to pull it over her head when she undresses.

I'd say my favorites of those are probably the Caeldori cards.

Getting S supports isn't nearly involved enough to be considered "a dating sim mechanic"

I think it's pretty much precisely what Thane said. Awakening and Fates get a lot of hate because they're easy targets. Because for all their flaws they're the most recent, most popular, and best-selling games in the franchise. And in some cases that upsets people. These two very flawed games are beloved by the wider gaming community while earlier games, which many would argue are better, are largely unknown outside of the Fire Emblem fanbase.

Maybe I'm just more used to anime styles, but I don't see what everyone's problem with Elincia's art is. Her proportions are fine (she's 6-7 heads tall which is pretty standard for anime styles) and this is also Path of Radiance Elincia so it makes sense that she's kind of awkward in her armor. And her eyes are about the same size they were in her Path of Radiance art. Hell, I think they're smaller here.

So in English, Elincia is the new Sailor Jupiter while in Japanese she's the secretary from the original generation Idolm@ster anime. Nice.

I was watching my friend play and they did most of their combat in Skells, which I know becomes less than optimal once you get near the end of the game and before you get the super Skells.

I've only played Xenoblade myself, but I've watched a friend play through Xenosaga, Xenogears, and XenoX. Xenogears has aged very poorly in terms of gameplay, with the combat depending entirely on spamming hidden combos that deal massive damage. Xenosaga is fairly cluttered with a pretty convoluted story and mixed quality of gameplay (Episode 1 is considered just "okay", Episode 2 is bad, and Episode 3 is good). XenoX has really good sidequests and characters but a mediocre main story. Its gameplay is also very tedious outside of the very high level play (with things such as the Infinite Overdrive technique) and battles take way too long (the final boss takes about an hour to take down).
