  1. Koei is not Atlus, dude.

And haven't people said before that some Warriors games had huge-ass casts? And I don't think Koei was lazy at all with Hyrule Warriors. I was always upset that they left out Four Sword Zelda content, but the reason for that could easily be annoying copyright stuff since the Four Sword Zelda games were made by Capcom.

I love Koei, but look if you look at how little the rotk series changed, and how often the new one shits the bed, and then there's the amount of enemies that get lost and never make it to the map if you try co-op, although at least enemy officers don't pop out when you try to double musou anymore.

As for the large casts they normally already exist, and rarely change outside of anomalies like Yueying, Lu Bu and Zhang Liao, they tend to go for 8 new character styles at most per game, and SW 4-4-2, and 4-4-2-2 only added in one each as far as I can remember

  2. Don't forget the last FE crossover with no gameplay in the trailer devolved into TMS, so don't be too surprised when Koei follow their dicks and make an Xtreme game instead.

there's no reason for FE Warriors to have that small of a cast:

You have no idea how lazy Koei can be

  3. I don't know if this would be better suited in Fan projects, as it is technically a re-working of Metroid 2 in a new program with GBA graphics, and an actual map. I never played the original so I can't say how it's different, but I'm guessing the data scans and logbook was added which is a nice touch so far,.

All info about it here, also start the betting for how long it takes Nintendo to offer a C&D

    https://metroid2remake.blogspot.co.uk/

I don't think it counts as a ROM since it is them releasing their work in a whole new format to the original, but as it's based off another IP copyright laws might get a bit iffy, so take it down if need be.

Also stuff on Fed Force if anybody's got it yet, I'm waiting another 2 weeks or so to buy it but it would be interesting to see what other people's experience is with it.

  4. Effie is definitely worth keeping all the way to the end, especially paired up with Silas (or I imagine Benny but I benched him). On top of that I think you are fine not being paired up to take out small batches, just when you get specific chokepoints like the ninja cave pair up is definitely advised.

Also if possible you want Beruka to learn rally defence by then (chapter 17 I think)

One last thing is that you'll want to have somebody that can tank both a beastkiller and a couple of high level magic spells without too much hassle.

  5. It's still on the first page so I thought this was worth a mention

    http://nintendonews.com/news/wii-u/possible-pokken-tournament-dlc-scizor-darkrai-empoleon/

I'm overwhelmingly disappointed with them, Scizoer over Scyther or Heracross, Darkrai in general, or Empoleon over Oshawatt, or anything from the Squirtle, Totodile, or Mudkip lines (excluding Marshtomp and Croconaw)

Interesting news regardless, and hopefully if there is a fourth character they'd be more interesting for me.

  6. Eiketsuden Update(But it's a roster, basically)

Looking at the roster, I assume that there may be cut characters.

Jin's roster is entirely non-existent, save the Simas and Yuanji, so there's no need to make a list of possibly cut characters.

[spoiler=Who else is missing from the roster, color coded for your convenience]

    Yueying

    Xing cai

    Guan Suo

    Ban Sanniang who cares

    Liu Shan

    Cai Wenji

    Pang De

    Wang Yi

    Ding Feng

    Zuo Ci

    Meng Huo

    Zhurong

    Zhang Jiao

If that is the entire roster, then that rumor about Jin being cut had a bit of truth to it, after all.

Who's bottom right in Wei, I don't recognise them, also is anybody getting Medli this week, and how does 3ds dlc work, is it saved onto the 3ds or whatever is in the sd card slot?

  7. http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2016/04/koei_tecmo_confirms_that_it_has_nintendo_nx_software_in_development

Koei apparently has already begun development on projects for the NX. Whether it's a Hyrule Warriors port, an FE Warriors game (please oh so much), simply Dynasty Warriors 9, or something else entirely, is unknown.

I did like the comment there saying "Romance of the Three Mushroom Kingdoms" and "Other M 2 or bust"

  8. From my limited experience, I think a stage where you can fly around endlessly with the vehicle(s) of your choice would've been perfect. It would help me to get accustomed to the controls, and the moving screen.

I should redo Corneria, just so I don't have as many problems navigating and whatnot.

What are the training stages like then, I haven't bothered with them yet, but just assumed they were like in the opening with a free all-range mode at the end like in 64

Like you said, the challenge is great, but Zero can be very scary for beginners.

For example, while it was interesting, I think that the drones attacking Pepper's tower was too much for the first stage. And almost every stage has timed events.

There should have been a easy mode.

Maybe it was the constant difficulty without allowing the player to get used to the controls that made the game get bad reviews.

Corneria and Sector Alpha should have been a lot less chaotic.

    It's still a great game, but it's not beginner-friendly.

EDIT: I forgot to say this, but that picture made me wish I hadn't destroyed Falco's drone.

I genuinely think Venom A on Expert Mode was the hardest thing in 64, along with getting a medal on Sector Z.

  9. For someone who played the 64 version a lot, this game is very nostalgic and new, it's strange.

The new stages are very interesting, and weirdly, I found the Zoness stage, both annoying and fun at the same time. A lot of the things were annoying and yet it kept me on the edge of my seat, and I was thrilled the whole stage.

And Sector B was pretty intense! So many things happening!

Currently, I'm at Fortuna but it's giving a pretty hard time. I died four times already!

Either way, I'm enjoying it more that I though I would! A lot of people are judging this game to quickly. I know I did, and I regret it now that I'm playing it.

EDIT: Since Fortuna was giving me hard time, I decided to try Corneria's second path, thinking it could be easier.

How wrong I was. How very wrong I was.

    I. HATE. AQUAROSSA.

I HATE IT WITH ALL MY BEING!!!!

It took me a good 5 tries before I got the hang of it. It's definitely one of the worst bosses in the game. Doesn't help that it's the first alt bosses you can fight.

You're not alone in this department.

I died enough times against it to get the scrub mode item to appear, but once I learnt that the intervals get shorter once it surfaces it became a lot easier.

My strat was to weaken all 6 on the top before killing more than two, so you can kill the rest all in one swoop, and save all three bombs for the ones on water-level, you have enough time to get close enough time to get in bomb range, destroy them and U-turn before the forcefield starts up again.

Also if whoever was stuck on the gigarilla is still stuck, fly/run through the legs like with the first boss in Lylat Wars (not the carrier), that seems to be the safest way to get behind them.

One last thing, does anybody know what the top right stage on the score screen, only one I've yet to unlock

  10. So here's your resident scrub's first foray into story. Played for roughly an hour, and made it through Corneria and Sector a. This is gonna take a while.

    - My new catchphrase is "Shut UP Slippy", and I find myself saying this out loud more times than I care to admit.

    - I'm going to attempt this arcade-style. . .as in, once I complete a stage, I don't go back until I finish the game. I'll be here for a VERY long time.

    - If you die without retrying often enough, there's this little box with the Star Fox Zero logo you can collect, that basically has "you're hopeless" written on it. Once you get that box, you stop taking damage. I suppose this was made for those who really REALLY suck at this game (me), who just want to get through the story. Found this little gem in Sector a, after dying quite a bit. Oh, and you don't get a trophy if you wind up in invincible mode, and I'm okay with this.

    - Corneria was fun, and the Phase 2 timing was pretty generous. Glad it was, because I had to use every last bomb to stop the spiders. Still have no idea how I managed to not only get through the level with only one death, and hit silver.

    - Now, for controls. . .gotta remember to look UP at the TV, so you can see whether or not Fox is 2 seconds away from being a crispy critter. Managed to get steering/shooting down, and moving the game pad to aim is pretty nifty once you get used to it. I think I need to spend more time looking at the TV, and glance down at the game pad just to correct my aiming.

It's a rough learning experience, but I have no regrets. I'm slightly queasy, but given my history with FPS and the like, I don't feel as bad as I'd expect. Next up: Area 3!

I find with the spiders and their red button weakness it helps if you aim charge beams a way above them so it sort of curves down and hits them from above, also when you do have an objective like with the spiders in the tower, or dogfighting, zl is great for finding where they are.

the allies are definitely less please help shoot this guy behind me syndrome. They are still there but it never really happened as frequent as 64 and it also a massive pain especially in some of the mission objectives like in sector Z. It was a nuisance. Thankfully they made it less in this one and there is an incentive to actually save them as it gives you tons of bonus points for your high scores.

yeah I couldn't save peppy in that time

The allies were useful in Sector Z for luring enemies into groups so you could get a sneaky hit +1 or 2 from them, and weakening the missiles so long as you didn't let them kill them

Also as an aside, I've done this since 64, but no idea if it actually works or not, but for some reason braking whilst turning makes me think you turn quicker

  11. You can use headphones to get all the audio through the Gamepad.

I don't think I will. I mean, I have never done something like that.

Edit: Alright, just saw the end credits for the first time. What a ride. I am kinda worn out now. Guess that's it with Starfox for today. I'm not if there is a place for a series about a bunch of animal people in space in this day and age. But at least on my part, I am really glad that this game was made.

That explains why I heard Katt's theme but Omega was empty.

Incidentally, which route did you end up going?

  12. Game came in the post yesterday sans Guard, controls are really weird at first, you eventually begin to get used to them.

There's a huge amount of throwbacks to 64 which are nice. So far I haven't seen a full 4 on 4 dog fight with Star Wolf in any of the levels in the route I played.

Once/if you can get used to the controls my biggest gripes were the Gyrowing/stealth section being slow and dull, and the BGM won't play on the gamepad, so you have to be using the TV as well, which helps a lot, especially for targeting/finding where the last member of Star Wolf is etc. but still a pain when the tv is in use.

Also if there's anything else people want to know that can't wait two days, ask and I'll get back to you after work tomorrow

  13. Beta was released yesterday, is anybody else here playing it?

From what I've seen so far Victoria needs to be buffed pretty hard, bosses do crazy damage and have insane HP, and every character is so silent in the game that you may as well have a team of four Rochelles, but other than that, the loading time for the lobby list, and the glitches it seems all right so far. Having unique character skills like that is a pretty cool idea, but Dwayne and the Samurai are the only ones I really use.

  14. Speaking of tier lists, I keep hearing at other sites that after people learn how to deal with Gengar, he's gonna end up mid-tier, and the opposite holds true for Gardevoir, when people start learning how to play as her she gonna become high tier, would you agree?

And for those who played the game, what do you consider to be the best support sets?

To me it seems that Lapras/Snivy and Mismagius/Ninetales are the most effective.

It depends on the type, Lapras and Ninetales works well for zoners, but Machamp wants something like Eevee once he's close, or something to get him through projectiles (I suppose Lapras works well there)

  15. Agreed, it really is fantastic that every character feels completely viable.

Well, actually, I haven't seen what Weavile can do yet; haven't played a single one.

    What are Weavile's strong points?

Very fast, and can tag in A moves into regular combos seamlessly, has retreating and charging attacks, synergy gauge charges each round

Yeah. He's good, but he's just good. I think he's too rounded. Blaziken feels basically like Lucario but better.

Suicune's punish game is so good and his zoning is second only to Gardevoir. I think he'll do much better when the meta stops being super aggressive because he crumbles under pressure.

That said, someone needs to be in the last rank and I think it's him, which I think testifies as to how balanced this game appears to be.

Depends on what phase in duel mode you jump blizzard away and go for a throw, or do the forward XX up A if they're near a wall, and that gets you straight up to zoning them with directed pumps, blizzard and mirror coat

  16. Been playing quite a lot, some thoughts so far:

    - doesn't leave me with severe hand pain like Sm4sh does, big plus

    - Ferrum League is a little too grindy for my tastes; playing against CPUs over and over for minimal progression is not too fun

    - Training Mode is really nice, love that you can set the CPU to block after being attacked to check if your combos work

    - game feels really well-balanced

    - avatar customisation is surprisingly good, but for some reason a lot of the options have to be unlocked first before you can buy them with your mountains of unspent cash

I've been tackling Ranked, it's been going sorta decently.

    [spoiler=Current Setup and Stats]Stats%201_zpsdulvcv6y.jpg

    Stats%202_zpsfymq2t2v.jpg

Right now my biggest hurdles are Blaziken, (actually good) Gengars and most of all, Pikachu Libre. I can't for the life of me beat Pikachu Libre. I get grabbed and thrown all over the place when fighting her. Blaziken is difficult because a lot of its attacks seem to have a pierce property, breaking all my counters. Gengar's Sucker Punches are hard to deal with, and, well, I don't really understand what a lot of its attacks do (this is something I'm going to attempt to figure out tomorrow).

Braixen is fun to play, easy to mess with people's expectations thanks to being good up close and far away. The mid-air dash is also great, and it's something I need to work on using more. The Sunny Day mechanic is awesome, but I'm not brilliant at using it yet.

Most of my losses thus far are due to being backed into the wall by a power character and being unable to escape in between their long combos.

Those stats, jesus christ, how do you cope when Shadow Mewtwo or Machamp gets close to you?

  17. So (hopefully) I'll have the game tomorrow, still not sure who I want to main.

It was initially gonna be Suicune, but I didn't see anything too interesting about the moveset (initially) and I thought I'd go with either Braixen or Chandelure once they got shown.

And now Shofu uploads a video with a ridiculously good Suicune, and it just looks so much better in the hands of someone that knows what they're doing.

I'm torn, honestly. Guess I can try them all for a while and see how it goes?

    :]

Suicine was who I picked due to it being the only water type, and you do find your self relying on spacing a lot so you can pull off hydropumps and blizzards, also mirror coat does crazy amounts of damage when you can use it.

Aside from that Asuka has quite a few shared moves with Asuka Kazama, Pika libre is pretty good for it's throws even if it is a glass canon, and Charizard does a surprising amount of damage, plus seismic toss is pretty great for airbourne opponents.

EDIT: Make sure you win the extra fight after beating the red promotion match, because I didn't and now it looks like the only way I can unlock Mewtwo is with the amiibo card
