  1. Though politics is my least favorite thing in this world, I gave this test a chance. I don't find all the questions to be very helpful in deciding my results, here is mine. Although in a given circumstance, depending on the facts, my answer may always differ from how these "tests" indicate how I will behave.
  2. In the end its all about how much you've liked the games, I personally don't like Mega Man games except for the ones like Mega Man Black Ace, thats why I mostly gave up playing them, they simply didn't appeal to me. As for Castlevania games, I like them very much, vety big fan actually. I had some problems getting started with the games but after a little while I really felt they were easy.
  3. Funny thing is that I had problems with the flute as well, until I realized that you have to listen to the metronome in the background to start the melody in a good time signature.
  4. Maybe for some people it was, but think about it that I've played them on consoles not on emulators, while every time when I was dying I had to begin again, and that is one thing I don't like, plus I was a kid back then when I've played the game :)
  5. I'm impressed that no one mentioned Mega Man games from back in the days. I remember getting Mega Man 1 and 2, played a little Mega Man until I got so angry I broke them both even though I didn't ever played the second game :| And System Shock 2 was kind of a problem for me.
  6. Yes and yes. Their intentions are not for the modders to make such mods, but to allow them to create extra content for the game. But my point is, and all I was saying is, that WRPG's have the ability to be moded and so, the modders can create fanservice through this way, when JRPG's don't present themselves with the opportunity to be modded, you see, I was just giving an simple example of how WRPG's can have in some way or another fanservice through mods. And as a matter of fact "porn" mods can be found on other sites not on Steam. Plus mario maker is not an RPG so it doesn't fall in that category of games that I was talking about when I've said that JRPG's and WRPG's have their own unique kind of fanservice.
  7. It's like not like I don't know that; I was just explaining the mere fact the "porn" mods are a way of fanservice available in WRPG's.
  8. Well why not? I mean the developers clearly knew that if they allow their game to be modded something like that would happen. Maybe they didn't make it on purpose, or maybe they did, but I for sure consider it to be fanservice and I would agree to disagree with you.
  9. I don't really think that just JRPG's have fanservice. People do tend to say so because they associate the genre with anime, where in anime the fanservice is more present and most anime's come from Japan, people do tend to jump quickly to associate JRPG's with fanservice, because anime, because Japan. Mostly, fanservice in JRPG's means that boobs, ass, underwear, lingerie or "embarrassing" moments are being shown to the player, but in WRPG's as you can see if you've played them there are sex scenes even though you partake in them or they are just cutscenes, but in the end I consider those to be fanservice as well. Especially you should see the mods for Skyrim, you won't really tell the difference between porn and the latest mods. (Although those mods are made by the fans, the developers allowed them to do so. In the end this counting as well as fanservice).
  10. I have to agree with you here. As far as I'm concerned most of the games nowadays try to appeal to the consumer with their image, instead of their essence. There was indeed a time when especially Final Fantasy had great games and JRPG's were the RPG's to continue to improve, innovate. But now its not the same, WRPG's are more and more improving, with many WRPG's out there that are quite popular and good. I think that the major shift was made when the original XBox was released and when Morrowind came out, with BioWare as well being one of the company to continue to innovate and evolve the WRPG genre. And in my opinion WRPG's fare well when they are combined with another genre, action for example (take a look at Deus Ex franchise, SystemShock as well) and many more; because of their trait to allow the player to immerse himself in the game and in the games world, and giving more control to the player as how the story should proceed. Although I'm not saying that JRPG's fail in these (Kingdom Hearts games are also action-RPG's)
  11. I get what you are saying but I think in the end it is all about what everyone likes and finally it comes down to individual preferences. Xenoblade is not that old, it was released in 2010 and now there is the new 3DS version of the game, also its sequel (although I didn't played it) seems like it was good as well. Awakening + Fates is in my opinion a good example of JRPG's with their own unique style and feeling, the story is great, the characters as well, gameplay-wise too, but I guess, again, in the end it comes down to each individual preferences about the games. I consider Inquisition to be a great WRPG game (story wise, being dynamic and fluid, creating ''space" and to a certain extent giving freedom of customization to the player) even with its problems. To be frankly with you, I didn't played any Tales games, although I plan to do so I'm not going to comment on that topic. And please define for me what and how RPG's were elegant and simple, giving me some example of games. Like you refer to Planescape Torment RPG's style or SWKOTOR style? Or more. WRPG's are more breakable because of their nature, because WRPG's tend to give the player more freedom, making them more dynamic and flexible as RPG's and as games in general. On the other side JRPG's are more direct, more linear, and you could figure as well what that means.
  12. Starting to screw up in what way? The Withcer 3 plus Dragon Age: Inquisition are two astonishing new WRPG's that were recently released (2014-2015), they are very well crafted in every aspect. As well the latest installments of FE games (Awakening and Fates) and Xenoblade Chronicles are a very good example of great JRPG's. And I can continue with the list going on and on in both of those genres. Although I also admit that many RPG's made nowadays aren't that good as they used to be.
  13. As many others said, didn't expect to see WRPG's to win here. I've played a lot of both WRPG's and JRPG's to see and realize that both of those two genres are unique in their own way. I like really like the fact that WRPG's give the player a bit more freedom and the games are more fluid, although I find that JRPG's characters are more to my liking and there is something about JRPG's games that I enjoy but can't really express that feeling. In the end I agree that it should've been a third option to the poll, meaning that I can't decide and I like them both.
  14. Yes the first installment was fan translated too but I forgot to mention it. And overall I've talked about sequels/prequels/whatsoever because in the end the feeling and the taste left behind is the same, that of being disappointed or feeling bad that you can't have access to that extra contend/sequel.
  15. Its really not that great, especially if you are a fan of an specific game franchise and they decide to make a new installment that is let's say ''region locked''. I myself find this to be not a very nice move for the fans that, even if they will be able to buy that game they won't understand a thing from it. I found myself in this situation too, with many games. Luckily some were fan translated some were not. I am a fan of Luminous Arc games and 7th Dragon games as well, and the third installments of both of those games were not released outside of Japan. (The second installment of 7th Dragon is an example of fan translated games) Of course I also understand that any company makes and analyze the probability of how popular and how well will the game be if released in all regions, and sometimes they arrive at the conclusion that it will not be profitable to do so, meaning that they will either see how the home sales will fare and maybe they will localize it later, or worst case scenario they will not localize it and the game won't be released in the remaining regions.
  16. Sure. This can be done by either hacking the game or if you have an AR for your 3DS use the codes from here.
  17. Besides just giving an almost not so useful information this question falls into the category of random questions. But anyway, November + O type = Ice.
  18. Yeah I thought as much that Vantage and Sol doesn't really go well without the RNG goddesses but I gave a possible combination that can be used. Given the fact that he/she wants to play on Normal or Hard mode.
  19. For asset/flaw I would go with: Asset:strength or speed, Flaw: luck. Skills: Galeforce, Limit Breaker, Aegis, Sol/Lifetaker, Ignis/Vantage. Use Sol with Vantage (RNG goddesses be with you son) , or Ignis with Lifetaker (recommend). You can also throw if you want a Weaponfaire of choice or a Rally skill.
  20. Long story short. Buddy and Marriage seals are kinda the same, but you can use the Marriage Seals only on those characters that are married between each other, while Buddy Seals work on characters that have A support between each other. When you use either a Buddy or Marriage Seal with a unit that unit has access to the base class of the target unit. For example like you said: if Flannel and Nishiki have A support between each other you can use a Buddy Seal on Flannel, he will get access to the Spellcaster class from Nishiki and that is because the Fox Spirit (base class of Nishiki) class is an exception when using Buddy Seal, so in this scenario the second class that Nishiki can be is choose as the class that Flannel can get with a Buddy Seal. (the same goes for Garou class from Flannel, because the Garou class is not affected by the Buddy Seal, the second class that Flannel can be is a Fighter, so Nishiki will get the Fighter class from Flannel instead of Garou). To further explain I'm going to use your example, Flannel and Midoriko even though this support is not possible between them, I'm going to explain anyway. So Midoriko's base class is Herb Merchant and Flannel is Garou. I'm using a Buddy Seal on Midoriko and choose Flannel as my target unit. Because Flannels Garou class can't be exchanged Midoriko will get instead the second class that Flannel would be, that is the Fighter. In this case Midoriko's base class, Herb Merchant can be exchanged with a Buddy Seal so Flannel will get the Herb Merchant class from Midoriko. The Buddy Seal is a Reclasing Seal in its own and as I've explained up if when you use the Buddy Seal on Flannel with Midoriko, if at the time you use it Flannel is a Garou he will reclass in an Herb Merchant and Midoriko will reclass in a Fighter. Some exceptions that apply when you use the Buddy Seal:The Avatar can use it on any unit of the same gender they achieve an A Support with, but no unit can use the Avatar as their buddy. Nohr Prince, Singer, Fox Spirit, Garou and Villager aren't transfarable with a Buddy Seal. And finally the Marriage Seal works the same like a buddy seal, being another reclassing item. Only this time two units need to have S support between themselves, meaning that they need to be married, they can use this seal to reclass into their spouse's primary base class. The excpetions this time being only the Singer, Garou and the Nohr Prince classes which again are not affected by either the Buddy nor Marriage Seals. And for the sake of giving an example. If Xander and Nyx achieve an S-Support, Xander will gain the Dark Mage class while Nyx will gain the Cavalier class. (Btw I took this from FE Wiki, too lazy to write another ex myself).
  21. I see that you tagged FE 4, which I take that you refer to Genealogy of the Holy War mainly. If you do I can tell you that from my own experience it will be very hard to do so because FE 4 is in my opinion one if not the hardest game in the entire FE games. When I played the game I've tried to do a ranked run but in the end I gave up as I found out that it was quite hard to do so and I had to abuse the arena to continue. But there are people out there who made it and you can start by looking here.
  22. It's quite interesting what you said here. But I think that another source of feedback is the support system, which turns out to be a positive feedback for the player as you can have the child character the way you want, the same way goes for the skills, you have a multitude of those and you try to get and create the best possible outcome for your characters in terms of skill set, this also being an positive feedback. Although it is true that you do this by grinding too, the feedback in every way it it presented, will start to repeat, what that means is that the feedback can be more dynamic and flexible but in the end it will turn out in a paradox, repeating itself over and over again. Though the fact that maybe some will consider this to be a bad thing, positive feedback always, especially in FE games for me, turns out to be pretty fun and rewarding, making me feel like all the hard work and hours I've spent grinding and evolving my team to not be for naught. As for what other feedback FE games should have? Well there are quite some... but everyone has their own preferences and as for me I think that making an map full like 30-50 enemies and you have 20-25 player units on field is a great mechanic with rewarding feedback, because, the player unit shouldn't be able to attack just one unit per time, but what if a the player units can attack a multitude of enemies at the same time, like 5-10 at the same time depending on the player unit stats and skills that allows them to do so. Another mechanic that I thought about, and I find pretty interesting to be implemented in FE games is the dynamic surroundings. Meaning that if there is a tower present on the map the player units as well as the enemies can destroy the tower making it fall on the units present on the map that are in the falling radius of that tower. And not only buildings but as well as animals/dragons/ghosts etc. . Those are some mechanics I find to be interesting if they were present in the games.
  23. Mercenary/Hero definitely, in every FE game. And GOOOOO Priam!!!!!!!!!
