  1. Well, when it comes to the Fire Emblem being able to awaken dragons instead of sealing them, there is always the "logical" explanation. The Fire Emblem is also known as the "Binding Shield". And if it can inflict "bindings" it can remove them as well. A key that can lock a particular door can also unlock it, you know. Even during Marth's games, the Fire Emblem gave him the ability to open chests a.k.a. remove the "bindings"/"seal" upon them.
  2. On the subject of present Grima being awoken without the Fire Emblem...doesn't future Grima offer Robin to join him even during the final battle, after present Grima's awakening? I mean, I realize that this is most likely just more poorly constructed narrative, but I think there is one way to rationalize this. What if the awakening that future Grima intended past Grima to undergo and the awakening he actually underwent are different things? Future Grima pretty much left his dragonic body behind when he travelled to the past, did he not? Only future Grima's soul in future Robin's body crossed over to the "main" timeline. He needed present Robin and the Fire Emblem to awaken present Grima's soul but because of the switch he never managed to do it. The awakening that actually took place only awoke present Grima's draconic body. Present Grima's soul never actually awakens over the course of the game. And doesn't it look like future Grima is controling present Grima's body like a puppet during the battle against them anyway? Does present Grima ever actually speak over the course of the game?
  3. Speaking of psychological incest, weren't Leif and Nanna practically raised together by Finn and, for a certain amount of time, Raquesis while in hiding? And Leif and Nanna are heavily implied to the point of "nothing else needs to be said", aren't they? Though, I find it particularly funny how when it comes to the "raised together" type Alm and Celica were already a thing before FE4.
  4. @Mekkah: "Never inteded to be pairable", you say? Isn't there development history somewhere on this very site stating that, in earlier drafts of the game, the exact opposite of that was planned (by which I mean that they were supposed to be a set pairing)? @Dirge: It is actually possible to pair them through an exploit or two, if I'm not mistaken. The one with the jealousy system is the big one. Though, I heard that if you do that Seliph's paired ending becomes "Seliph and his wife Julia, assisted by Julia".
  5. For the fourth map, assuming you actually want to kill all the enemies, you'll pretty much have to set up that one choke point and then exploit the fact that the AI will prioritize moving closer with the horsemen over moving closer with the paladins.
  6. Wasn't Naga always refered to with gender neutral pronouns in the Japanese versions of the games? Also, Tiki isn't Naga but Naga's child. Even if she inherited some of what ever it was that put Naga above regular divine dragons it is apperant that she didn't inherit all of it. In such a case, Tiki being clearly female doesn't mean all that much. As for Nagi, reincarnating as the other gender is not an unheard of concept. And as stated before in the topic, it isn't until FE13 that Naga got a clear depiction. Not to mention that, given the time gap between Marth's time and Awakening as well as just how incredibly similar they look, the "Naga" that we see depicted in Awakening is likely to be an "ascended" (what ever that might actually mean) Nagi. The original Naga has been refered to as "The Divine Dragon King" but also appeared in a shape that gave the humans present the impression of "a beatiful maiden". The only way to be actually be certain of Kaga's original intent at this point would be to ask Kaga himself. Even though he might have kept it ambiguous on purpose. @Jotari: Alternatively, Tiki's daddy was a bishounen in human form. When the twelve dragons appeared at Darna they probably at least somewhat obsucured their appearance and Naga just ended up giving the humans present the wrong impression. I mean, just imagine Naga as a younger looking, green haired version of Libra.
  7. Glaceon pretty much summed it up, Gamer. I'm backing those answers up. @Forceman: Unlikely, given that the First Exalt lived a thousand years before the events of Awakening while Marth lived two thousand years before the events of Awakening.
  8. ...This is the nobility we are talking about. A few families are bound to be related to the main holy blooded family of their region. Hilda is most likely from a lineage that splinetered of from the main carriers of Vala blood (a.k.a. the lineage that could produce major Vala blood carriers a.k.a. the one that resulted in Victor and his descendants) and thus is only very distantly related to them while still being a descendant of Vala and having minor Vala blood. Same thing with Linoan and her minor Naga blood, probably, and with all such other instances of minor blood as well.
  9. @shin: Not listed where, exactly? That is the point. @weso: Oh. Well, that settles that point then. Yeah, in that case Saias might actually not have Loptyr blood. Thanks.
  10. Once again, exactly my point. Is there any actual indication that they don't have minor Vala blood? Because if there isn't, then there is notably less reason to think that Saias might not have minor Loptyr blood. And by "actual indication" I mean something from the game itself, an official statement from the creators or maybe even a guidebook, provided that it isn't too out of touch with the current consensus on other points.
  11. But that is the point I was trying to make. What examples are there of a child not inheriting a type of holy blood from their parents? By which I mean examples and can't have any sort of alternative explanation to them. Like, say, Ishtar. Is there an option to view her profile on the holy blood wheel? If there is, does she really not have any minor Vala blood from Hilda? Stuff like that would be concrete evidence that would show that there is indeed reason to doubt the idea of Saias having minor Loptyr blood in him. Is there anything of that sort?
  12. @Walker: Not so sure about that. Has there ever been a 100% confirmed instance of a child being able to inherit two types of holy blood from said child's parents but inheriting only one or less? Jotari might just be on to something with Chagall's case here too, unless there is evidence to disprove the hypothesis. I mean, yeah, it wouldn't be confirmation but rather an "educated guess" but, once again, has there ever been an example of something like this happening that can't be disproven by any other scenario? Though I have to admit, him having the blood does bring up the question of why he wasn't kept around in case Manfroy were to ever need a second Sigyn. Or maybe I'm misinterpreting the info and he was being protected from being kept under Manfroy's thumb rather than being killed.
  13. I'll counter that by saying that Marth is no stranger to self deprication either. However, I can see where you're coming from. Cain puts a lot more importance on the martial sort of conduct, notably more so than Abel. Although, I can't see Cain actually hating Abel for trying to protect Est but I can see them drifting even more apart afterwards.
  14. @Cymbalina: If he isn't from Conote then he simply arrived there, somehow met the girl, they did the deed and then he skipped town. Same thing, really. He might not have even known that she got pregnant or, if he did, he might have thought that he, the non-noble parent of an illigitimate child, should disappear both for his own sake and for those of the mother and child. @Yojinbo: Oh. Does Saias even know that they have major Odo blood, though? Maybe it can only be used by those who have minor holy blood or something and that is what he actually meant? Nothing else makes sense.
  15. Such claims are comming from the all but stated fact of Fergus being the child of Beowulf and a Conotian noblewoman and that being the only sequence of events that makes sense. Also, Ethlyn does not have major blood of any sort. What she does have is minor Baldur blood. Not to mention that the Blaggi Sword can be used by any swordwielding unit that has any sort of holy blood. Even if it is just one type with a minor expression. I really don't see where you're getting the Baldur or Hezul thing from. And Fergus having non-Noba blood really takes some stretching to get to. Beowulf doesn't have any holy blood in him and a noblewoman from Conote would only have any non-Noba holy blood if she is a non-native of the District who came from a blood carrying family of some other kingdom and moved to Conote of marrying a local nobleman. And while this is all possible there is no evidence to suggest this. Her being born into a Conotian household, on the other hand, is a "sequence" of events requiring much fewer assumptions.
  16. By that token why not go all the way and only have the generic A-E rank weapons for each type and some basic staves and call it a day? Do away with anti-mount and anti-armor weapons as well as the Killer family, ect. Naturally, any increase in complexity should be done with the intent of increasing the variety of possible gameplay scenarios. This will in turn enrich the strategic aspect of the game. The point of the games is planning things out so I don't think more options to use in your plans has to be a bad thing.
  17. Any mention of here that I've encountered points out that she was a noblewoman, or maybe even a member of the ruiling family, of Conote. Which is in the Manster District and the north of the Thracian Peninsula. Which the area Noba's descendants have generaly resided in.
  18. Shouldn't appearence and mention in a mainline game and/or the most recent appearence override anything else? Also, since the patch is in English then it only appropriate to use the English names, of course. And any versions of the patch that might come into being in the future and are in a language that uses different names would use those names instead. As for differences in localizations in the same language that might come up, why not create several versions of the patch in said language for the various zones? It would only take a comperatively small amount of work to do so, wouldn't it? Of course, I'm not saying that anyone is obligated to do any of that. A singular patch creator would be free to stick to their native languge and zone, since that is what would probably be simplest for them. And to both awnser the question and summarize, "(name)'s most recent official (zone) name, granted by the localization team of IS' (zone) division, is (name)'s one and only name in (zone) until any point the future where a new one might be granted by the localization team of the time" seems like the obvious awnser here. And sticking to "what is actually written in the game at the time of the game's release" creates a new problem simply because the names used in Japan apply to Japan only. The various fan translations were in use simply because a local version did not exist. Now that they do, for every zone where the game from which the non-Japanese versions came from was localized, it means that each zone's localization team has reached a consensus on the subject. And intentionally creating a split in said concensus seems counter intuitive. I mean, further use of the names in any zone that currently has an established consensus on them is highly likely to involve the use of this established concensus. So what purpose is there to the act of intentionally creating several names, all of which would most likely end up as more or less simultaneous use within a given zone's fanbase, for the same region?
  19. @Sartek: Was he confirmed to have minor blood at some point? Because if he actually was then the parent he got it from would be his mother. And considering that his mother is a noblewoman and where she is from, there is little reason to consider that it might be anything other than Noba blood.
  20. Oh. I thought we were discussing what would make for a better final version of the patch. Alright then, my bad.
  21. @Yonjibo: Oh, right. That is one possibility. @Sartek: Wasn't that supposed to be an error? Also, what fourth child? And how exactly are saying that Reptor and Bator related, exactly?
  22. Having posted a little something on the subject in a different topic in the general section, I'll just say that, if anything, not only should these things "return" but they should become more complex as well. A study based magic system shouldn't have simple game mechanics. More elements, more triggers, different leans among the elements, encouraging more thought into when to use and when not to use something, ect. Tomes should definetly get more of that.
  23. Wouldn't Neir be as well? There weren't any people with major Neir blood left after the conclusion of FE4, were there?
  24. As the wiki helpfully points out, Quan's name is most likely meant to be a corruption of the name "Cian", who was a figure in Irish mythology. However, the point is that it doesn't matter which one is more correct from a linguistic point. Any further mention of said character in the franchise will most likely have him go by the name of "Quan". As such, that is the "most correct" version of his name, regardless of linguistics. Sure, the franchise might reach a hypothetical future point where he gets refered to by some other name in future installments. However, any mention of him before that point, if such is made, will refer to him as "Quan" since that is what his name was most recently localized as.
  25. Not absolutely everything is in seperate worlds. The universe containing all of Archanea/Ylisse, Valentia/Valm and Jugdral (FE1/11, FE2, FE3/12, FE4 and FE5) is one universe. The universe of Elibe (FE6 and FE7) is likely to be another by virtue of no official statement or concrete evidence stating otherwise. The universe of Magvel (FE8) is likely to be a third one from the same reasons. Same with the universe of Tellius (FE9 and FE10) being a fourth one. The thing is all these universes are somewhat similar to each other, so they are probably they are probably in the same multiverse, and quite close to eachother within said multiverse as well. And by the time of FE13 universe #1 is at least connected to pocket universes that copy locations from the other three. However, I don't think it is likely that you can travel to Super Smash from there. I mean, if we were to actually assume that Smashverse is located anywhere near any of the FE universes it would probably be further away from any of them than any of the four is from the other three in the group. So yeah. I'm more curious about how "lore", as Chrom puts in, from Elibe, Magvel and Tellius ended up in Ylisse. For it to be known to him said "lore" must have been known in Ylisse for at least a little while. Even though it is from three alternate realities. Meaning that means of crossing the dimensions were around for a while as well.
