  1. Happy Birthday!!! (again)

  2. How do you guys feel about something as simple as the battle theme picking up where it left off? I don't remember if FE9 had it, but I know that FE10 has it where when you attack an enemy, the theme that plays doesn't always start at the same spot. For games that don't have this kind of thing, I remember my favorite part of the player attack theme in FE8 being very later on, which only gets there if you double attack and get a level up (or have a long animation.) With FE7, I kinda feel like there's a bunch of nothing after the main part of the theme passes, which again usually happens to me after a double attack and level up. Haven't played FE13 yet, but it's just something I really liked after recently finishing FE10 for the first time since I liked the battle themes in that game.
  3. "Look at all those Eggman's Robots!" I found Heroes to be pretty fun, but some of the extra missions were just frustrating. I had to use a guide to finish the Chaotix extra missions. Super Hard wasn't too difficult either, but it was a decent way to finish the game.
  4. So I got some bad levels for Ike and he's already at level 20 with 26 speed. The site says that you should have 27 so you don't get doubled. I don't have any speedwings and I don't think I can get any before 3-7 judging from the item locations page. The only thing I have going is an A support with Oscar, but I'm not sure if that's enough to get a reliable dodge. It's on normal, so I think messing with battle saves could work, but I'm just wondering if this is possible (without being tedious) with 26 speed.
  5. I'd suggest Arc Rise Fantasia for the Wii. It's a game that IMO is hard to get into, but it's very satisfying and rewarding when you get the hang of the game. You'll just have to watch out for a hard first try for several bosses, and horrendous voice acting. I personally thought the voice acting was funny bad, but others will think otherwise. The game has Baten Kaitos 1 tier voice acting in that they used actors from the same studio.
  6. For the game clear code, the xx is replaced with I think 02, 03, etc. I don't know if the number of times the file shows the game has been cleared can go into double digits, but I would think once you go from 09 (8 clears) to 10 (9 clears,) that's when the second number comes into play.
  7. Edit: I can confirm that this works, as I was able to recruit Pelleas on a "first" playthrough. There's this code that allows you to change the number where it indicates how many times the game has been cleared. The description for the code even mentions that this will allow 2nd playthrough events to occur. Looking at the "Hints & Secrets" section says that the events will only occur when you load a clear save file and begin a new playthrough on that file. Should I assume that the action replay code will still work if I use it on a first playthrough file that's already been started? (Chapter 1-7)
  8. From what I've read online, I believe both of them are real to a degree. It's been years since I finished the first Galaxy, but from what I remember, Rosalina makes Mario go back in time to right before the Star Festival at the beginning of the game. Galaxy 2 mentions that the Star Festival is occurring again, so I believe that Galaxy 2 is a direct continuation of the events of the first one. Since Mario went back in time and is now doing whatever he does in Galaxy 2, I think someone needs to redo the events of Galaxy 1 since Mario's gone. This is where I believe Luigi comes in and can then meet himself in that ghost level. I believe some people like to say that Galaxy 1 and 2 pulled a Zelda in the sense that the timeline got split into 2, which is why there are 3 Luigis in total (The one doing what Mario did in Galaxy 1, the one who's stuck in the ghost level, and the one who travels with Mario in Galaxy 2.)
  9. I like mayonnaise (only had Hellmann's) when it comes to sandwiches and a few other foods. I think it's a great compliment to bread. As far as it being used with other things, I do enjoy mixing mayo and ketchup to make fry sauce.
  10. I think it's a decent mechanic but it's up to the game to handle it correctly. Pokemon's been mentioned, so I guess I'll talk about few other games. One game I know that handles it decently is Tales of Legendia. Most of the dungeons in that game are just stretched out long hallways that serve no purpose but to draw out the amount of encounters you get. On the other hand, I do enjoy the battle system in that game so I don't mind fighting more than I'd hope for (there's also auto mode and using items that decrease encounter rates.) The Battle Network series also does it fairly well with having a fun battle system and ways to decrease encounter rates. I do recall that sometimes you would run into enemies that were tougher than the usual ones you would encounter in the area, and I would say that's part of the excitement that comes from true random encounters. You really don't know if you can just kill everything or be cautious in your travels. I'm not really an FF player, so I don't really know if the random encounters are really that bad. I suppose when it's turn based, it probably would start to drag on. I would personally just mash whatever is confirm if the enemies are weak enough so I can just get on and keep going. Someone mentioned real-time random encounters and I just had to mention, would White Knight Chronicles or even Rogue Galaxy be a good example of that kind of mechanic?
  11. With all of this hate that Fish comes under, would anyone even be paying attention if Fish wasn't the kind of person he made himself to appear as on Twitter? I read a few posts earlier that someone mentioned Kamiya, and if I'm not mistaken, wasn't he the one who put a few racist posts on Twitter? If I'm right, why is it that he doesn't get that much flak like Fish for the same reasons? I suppose it's because Kamiya has worked on several highly praised games, but I dunno. People have said that FEZ was just mediocre and his attitude was just sort of a way to promote the game and give it attention.
  12. I've heard stories that this game will run on 60 FPS, so I know it's going to look beautiful once it comes out. I still haven't played Mario Kart 7 due to not having a 3DS, but I'm glad that they're bringing back mechanics from both Wii and 7. That's the beauty of Mario Kart though -- it allows pretty much anyone to win and it's meant to be taken as a casual fun racing game. Yes, I said casual, but in the sense that you can pop it in a couple of hours a day and just have fun with it. There's also a lot of strategy that comes into play when using items. There comes the prediction of knowing when to use a lightning bolt when the racers ahead are above a place where they can fall and lose a lot of time. There comes the knowledge of knowing when to use certain items at the right time, and it works in reverse too. Knowing when someone might use a lightning bolt so you can time your star/bullet bill to negate it and gain a lot of ground while the other racers are hit. I'm not denying there is luck involved, but there is a lot more skill than you give the series for. Also, if you turn on retire, a well timed blue shell or lightning bolt can easily destroy the Blue Falcon or force it off course. I digress enough though.
  13. Judging from the last two pages, the main focus seems to be based on MK7. I don't own a 3DS yet, but I'm up for some races in MKWii if anyone still wants to play that. It'll be fun if we can get a 12 player room. I also have DS if people want to play that as well. Aaron 0390-7919-7931 As far as racing goes, I generally like to stick with Mario and the Standard M kart with the Wii Wheel. Been that way in all the previous games, and I'm not gonna change soon (even if all the Funky/Flame Runner players destroy me.)
  14. I think everything related to sales and stuff like that has been already said, but I do have some sort of fondness to the fanboy part of the system wars. I pretty much used to be a Nintendo fanboy (moreso a Mario fanboy) when I was a kid during the age of the GC/PS2/Xbox, and there was this forum meant for people to argue about why their company is the best and whatnot. Fanboy wars usually just depend on who is arguing with who. As a kid, I pretty much had the blind fanboy kind of attitude in supporting Nintendo, and while it was dumb, I still kinda find it interesting that people who can blindly follow a system can be that way. Nowadays I just play video games because they're fun, and if the discussion is based on people who understand all sides of the competitors, it goes well. Hell, I can argue for and against most of the main companies out there. I think console wars fanwise was just a way to get people to understand the opinions of others, albeit in a potentially rageful way.
  15. UNF makes me think it's either the parallel to ISAF or UPEO. I think the problem storywise is that I think they wrote themselves to a corner after 6. I mean I think the story of 3 JP is neat and all, but I just don't find it all that interesting when compared to the past version of it that 4/5/0 built. If I'm not mistaken, 3 takes place around 2030, and 6 left off around 2015? I suppose that's 15 more years they can write about, but I'm not sure how they can make it fit into 3 with the whole companies taking over thing. I don't think Earth is such a bad place for the setting. Even if AH's plot was generic, I didn't think it was that bad. Joint Assault also took place on Earth, and it was alright. I'm thinking that maybe this Earth is our Earth in name alone, but still the Strangereal world we've come to love. Come to think of it, isn't it only the fans who called the AC world Strangereal, and the games never referred to their own world otherwise?
