I don't really think too hard about gameplay choices and their relationship with the narrative. It's cool when they align but they don't have to that closely because ultimately, we're playing a game that needs to be fun. It's never a perfect 1:1 balance, with most games having far too few soldiers on both sides and, I suppose, one could argue that FE7 sometimes has too many enemies.

It's a problem in Blazing Sword because the Bern army never realizes there is so much activity in Bern.

Have you been playing Three Houses? I don't even have a Switch but it seems like an awesome game. 

BTW, do you watch Mangs' character spotlights? I'm looking forward to the one on Micaiah the most. But I also want to see the one on M!Corrin. 

I have been playing TH. The worldbuilding is great so I appreciate all the effort they put into the writing. Not sure how the plot will turn out but I'm hopeful it will be agreeable.

I don't really follow any FE youtubers so I can't comment.
