My idea is to have a base lord class called, "Duelist". IT would have caps at 15 and would automatically promote at level 10, sort of like a trainee lord. However, you have THREE choices for promotion; Mage Lord, which enables you to use magic and swords, Horse Lord, which allows you a mount and the ability to wield lances and swords, or Battle Lord, which not only gives you armor but also the gift to wield axes and swords with ease.
Then you can promote AGAIN... but I'm lazy so I'll leave you guys in suspense.

Knoll is to magic as Marisa is to combat.
So they are both bad but not Ewan/Amelia bad.

Marisa comes late, she has 4 Def & D swords, her ATK sucks and is even dropped by her default weapon, she will be threerounding cavaliers one by one depending on how you are using her Shamshir; which brings up the question of why Eirika/Colm isn't using it ...the best way it to make her stay in range of only one cavalier at a time and drain their HP.
She wins for high SPD, otherwise her durability is awful for her joining time.

Almost literally the same arguments from then. You can't guess what Sakurai is going to do. You can't say character x has a good chance because of such and such reason. You can only hope that the character you want gets in. Nothing beyond that.

They are not even without supports. Guy has leads in fucking EVERYTHING, not to mention comes earlier relative to Marisa with a higher starting sword grade as well. Also ties or beats Marisa in everything except lolLCK and lolRES. Also, since he isn't a total shitfest, he can have a support with Matthew. Marisa either has people that don't want her or suck epic dix.

I think we can all agree that:
1. Marth, while not a series staple per se, is definitely returning.
2. Ike is also returning, assuming IS won't make another FE soon.
3. Anyone else beyond Roy, who is very unlikely to return, won't be in.

Oscar: Axes- A 45% STR GROWTH IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME.
Kieran: Swords- His SPD is less than satisfactory so extra AVD is cool.
Astrid: Axes- 40% STR growth is :( for bow users. And it helps Astrid's 1-range tremendously.
Makalov: Lances- Astrid has the range, Kieran has the power, Oscar has earth, and Makalov has speed. SO YEAH.
Combine these four with Titania and Geoffrey and I do believe we have the next MIGHTY MORPHIN PALADIN RANGERS.

I'd say 0% growths would be more difficult but it could be done.

I don't think mounts really pose a problem. Most characters could be used the same way without a mount as with it in smash purposes.Imagine controlling a horse in a 2-D fighting game. Now put a person on that horse, make pain animations that do not involve them falling off their mount as well as attacks, and then balance that character out. That would be harder than making a full-fledged on-foot character.
