  1. Same. My personal issue with the whole waifu-deal however is more so on the fact that they didn't include the mechanic because it provides character debt, but simply because people like watching a bunch of pixels twerk. This just aids in demeaning the characters, which I think is a big shame because many of them are really interesting. It's unfortunate, but I feel like IS believes that Awakening's success was attributed to the marriage and children and that alone, so while they made their best to improve gameplay and whatnot (which they did great), everything regarding the story and characters was made with the Awakening-newcomer-fans in mind. And I mean..I don't mind the fanservice and some of the new mechanics are pretty nifty. I wouldn't cry if they never made it back into the game, neither would I do so if it stayed. But to me there's a line of what's cool and not, and the marriage and children-mechanic returning just becausewhynot, I could've done without. Hopefully if they ever include children again they have a better reasoning for it...like a time-skip. Otherwise it just hurts the story.
  2. I like this a lot. A whole lot. @the existence of Valla, I have a counter-proposal: it still exists, but is a dimension where solely the dragon gods/manaketes reside. The Dawn and Dusk Dragons are their own established characters and also "blood-givers" to their respective families. Both kingdoms rely on the dragons for their wisdom and guidance, but another dragon, Anankos, one day kills the Dusk Dragon in hopes of taking its place. Nohr loses their "god" and is thrown into chaos, which is why the massive war happened in the first place, because the Emperor/King didn't know what to do without their god. Garon, next in line, gets things back in control. Still a "just" ruler, but is corrupted over time by Anankos who pretends to be the Dusk Dragon, slowly pushing Garon down an unjust path once the "story" begins. Valla is separated as well, one domain where Anankos rules, the other under the protection of the Dawn Dragon. The Dawn Dragon however eventually ends its 'contract' with Hoshido because of Anankos becoming stronger, and having to focus on protecting their own kin from him. Lastly, Valla is a known plane and there is no curse regarding its knowledge, but mortals who enter vaporise into tiny little bubbles. Retcon this with the royals who have been given dragons blood can survive entering the realm, and voila, death to Anankos, and whoever has enough dragon blood takes Anankos' place as the new Dusk Dragon (rather than having a new ruler of Valla)...
  3. I figured that one of the points in the peace treaty the two kingdoms were about to make was for Hoshido to support Nohr during their famine, but then Garon went tripping. So the fact that Hoshido isn't helping Nohr with this problem is attributed to that. But while it's easy to blame Nohr for being the aggressors, I think people have to consider that Garon does not represent Nohr, in the sense that he is in fact a tyrant, a dictator, which is to say that he is the sole reason for what the people of Nohr are forced to do to Hoshido. I'm not saying the majority of the Nohrians aren't shitty people, but it's easy to put everyone under the same comb just because of a few individuals actions. Personally I enjoyed the story, Hoshido, Nohr, Revelations. I think the story (idea) itself was great. But is it plothole galore? Definitely. There are so many things wrong about it, which people have already pointed out. But what annoys me the most is the Avatar. There is absolutely no character development for him/her. We're lead to believe there is, but towards the end of Revelations I just lost my shit when the "traitor boy whose name I don't remember" in Valla betrays them. Surprise surprise. And then Ryoma and Xander have the gall to tell them that "we need you to be a trusting little shit that gets us in trouble and never learns from their mistakes", to which everyone else goes hooray. Like wth? You're enabling their biggest weakness and telling them it's okay. You're letting them know that they can fuck up as much as they want because you'll clean up their mess. Again. And again. And again. Not to mention that the only character we're lead to believe the Avatar ever does kill is Garon and/or Anankos. Everyone else just steals his kills to ensure his "purity". And then there's the Hidden Truth DLC...and the "explanation" of how the Awakening Trio ended up in Nohr and their mission. They pretty much forgot all about Anankos and decided to dedicate themselves to their masters, and their supports are filled with "let's go home once the war is over" aka Hoshido sucks it. And although the DLC gave us some answers, it ended up creating more questions, like wtf are they doing? They knew his son was kidnapped and brought to Nohr. Maybe they didn't know that the Avatar was the child in question in the beginning, but after Chapter 6 they sure as hell did. And if you chose Birthright, do they side with you? lol no What about Conquest? They make no attempts to push the Avatar towards their goal of collecting all the weapons and guiding them to Valla. Honestly, if you're gonna shoehorn fanservice characters in a DLC that actually really matters for the story, how about making the characters themselves actually doing something in the main story itself? I love Fire Emblem to bits, and Fates' gameplay is absolutely fantastic. I've never enjoyed the gameplay of a Fire Emblem game so much as I have with Fates. But storywise, it suffers from the belief that our generation has a short attention span and that we don't like to think too much. It presents us with a story, but the details are all jumbled up because we don't want to think about those things anyways. "This doesn't make sense? Well that's fine, it's just a game after all!" And at the end of the day, yeah, it's just a game. But if you're going to include a story, at least try to patch up the plotholes, or they might as well just continue making Advance Wars instead..
  4. Honestly, this is why I think -morally- that it makes more sense for Corrin to side with his Nohr family, because the Hoshidans really don't have any 'claim' to them whatsoever once Mikoto hits the bucket. I get it, that's Mikoto's family we're talking about, but honestly? You shouldn't have been able to S-support any of the siblings, and the only reason they retconned it like that was so you could marry them. yolt? hehe There's so many things wrong about the story though..like, I don't even know where to begin.. I remember there was talk that they hired in a professional writer to write the story and there was massive hype because finally we were going to get a story that was good again, but this? I mean..in many ways I think the story is great. Honestly, it's fantastic in many ways. BUT there are so many bloody loopholes and things that are implemented that make absolutely no sense whatsoever, and many of them are done just for the sake of fanservice like My Castle, the Deeprealms or throwback characters. And I get this, but honestly Fates struggles from gameplay functions and the story being separated, and this actually hurts the story. And as far as Azura goes, she's been established as a lone wolf character many times, and her keeping these things to herself makes some sense to me. At least that's what I make myself think to justify her actions. She thinks Anankos is her own problem, because it's her kingdom and not Corrin's, and her mind is more occupied on what Garon is doing as well and wants to resolve that, rather than forcing Corrin into "her own problems". Really shitty choice though considering she up and dies after Endgame, but oh well. I guess she tries to warn him at the end of the storyline when she appears by the lake and tells him to look into the water or something. Now, I figure you've played Hidden Truths, but I'll put this in a spoiler anyways I still enjoyed the game very much, and as far as gameplay goes Fates is honestly the best in the series. The maps are fantastic. But they tried to make too many things "work", and it just didn't. Maybe it was rushed? Maybe the writer just wasn't as good as people thought? Who knows. But I hope the next instalment doesn't prioritise fanservice over the story.
  5. Ryoma: We are your real family. Xander: Return to us! Elise: Big brother! • • • Felicia: Lord Corrin! Who will you choose? The family you grew up with or your blood relatives? Corrin: Hmm... Ryoma: Actually..we're not related. Corrin: Huh? Ryoma: When your mother, Mikoto, married my father, she brought you with her. So none of us are actually related. Haha...now that she's dead, I guess the Nohrians are actually your closest relatives. Heh. Felicia: Oh my! Who would've thought? Corrin: Shit...fine, if none of us are related I'll just hook up with Azura since she's the ying to my yang Mikoto: That might be a problem... Corrin: Mother!? You're ALIVE? Mikoto: Yeah the big bad revived me but I still have my free will yolo open the red door noob Corrin: I will. But what do you mean that might be a problem? Mikoto: You and Azura are actually cousins. Corrin: WHAT!? Mikoto: Yes, me and Arete, Azura's mother are sisters! Corrin: Azura, do you want to talk about this? Azura: no not really no Corrin: No thoughts at all? You have so many other lines in this game but we're not gonna talk about being related? Azura: yurari yureri THE END
  6. Same, I wifed her during my 2nd BR playthrough. I love how she calls the Avatar out on the crappy proposal. Cause it was. I just tried seeing if anyone can Talk to her during the chapter in which mama azura attacks you again, but nothing. I guess I'll have to settle for her Einherjar and headcanon that Sakura and Elise did their bloody jobs as healers and healed her. Also ScarletxRyoma4lyfe
  7. That's disappointing :/ I equipped Miracle on her hoping something would change it did not lol
  8. So...Scarlet got zapped. That sucks. A lot. Cause I really liked her. Which makes me wonder, if one was to grind an A-rank or even S-rank support with her, does she live? The game doesn't really give you room to do so since she's basically only with you for one chapter so I'm guessing her death is certain unlike Kaze's. But has anyone tried?
  9. sorrynotsorry for making this topic I just realised Flora joins when you get the Level 3 Fire Orb. ... Fire Orb. ... FIRE. i am dying goodbye
  10. This is true, but Charlotte dismisses this in their B-support by saying Avatar doesn't see it that way. To which Silas responds that yes, because they don't remember much it has been some time since they were friends (or something along those lines), but you can't dismiss their friendship as it is now. I can see how it can come off as pushy, but all considered, Avatar does in fact reciprocate those feelings after some time, so even if (unfortunately) the only thing Silas has going for him in most of his supports is his BFFforlifeforlife with Avatar, it is mutual. Either way, I don't dislike or like Silas anymore. I just don't care much for pushy characters... But tbh most of the writing for the characters are pretty bad, since they all come of as one-trick ponies with only one facade to them. There's no duplicity. Everything just is as it is. So I tend to focus on other characters qualities rather than that one thing IS created them for. And I think people focus too much on these traits which is why a lot of people have grown to dislike characters like Silas, Hana, Felicia, Odin and so on. I mean, I'm not the biggest fan of either of them, but I think they have a lot of redeeming qualities. Silas has the BFF gimmick going for him, but in a lot of his supports he is a very kind person. Hana might come off as pushy and a Sakura-stan, but she's the Sully of this generation and all she wants is for women to be considered equal to men, which I think is pretty fair. Felicia is the klutz of all klutzes, but she's a hard worker and "canonically" one of the best fighters. Odin is the gimmicks of all gimmicks, but he's caring. His way of doing it is sometimes creepy (Selena-support), but he has good intentions. Unfortunately, none of the tiny fragments we get to see of these characters manage to redeem their bad qualities (for me), but that doesn't mean they're all just bad...
  11. HinataxAnyone is the only BrOTP you need. I also ship KageroxOrochi and NilesxLeo thankyouverymuch Other than that I really like SelenaxBeruka. And CharlottexNyx. AzuraxSakura is also cute.
  12. I love everyone in this thread. Especially the HC's about Izana. My HC's are that none of the children are born during the war and the Deep Realms do not exist. All the children are born postgame and age like they normally would. The war some of them talk about in their supports is because even though the war is over, there are still groups of people and some kingdoms that aren't too happy about this. So even if there is "peace", there are still some places that needs cleaning up. I also HC that the Awakening Trio came to Nohr to look for ways to bring Robin back. All siblings have 'legendary weapons'. Camilla wields Eckewart (Bolt Axe), and later inherits Garon's axe, Bölverk. Elise wields Kriemhildr (Moonlight, and Brynhildr's sister tome). Hinoka wields Susanoo (Brave Lance) and Sakura wields Amaterasu (Shining Bow). Niles is gay for Leo. Leo is in denial, which is why he reacts so harshly to Foleo's appearance. They both end up having children with other women, Leo pretending to be straight, Niles in spite of Leo. Orochi is a quack, and her fortunes are vague enough for them to come true, so people believe in her. Beruka is asexual/aromantic. Charlotte is actually bipolar. Rhajat's personal skill is Shadowgift. Laslow is the best rallybot
  13. Like many others here, Silas was one of the characters I liked best in the beginning. I love his design; still do, but the more supports I see of him the more I get mixed feelings about him. I don't like or dislike him anymore, he just, is. In his defense though, his C-support conversation with Azura makes sense in CQ (which is the route I played first, so it didn't bother me as much in BR). And as for the proclamation of being Corrin's bff-thing, I've only seen him say Corrin is his best friend so far, not the other way around. Anyone care to point to which support he says so? Hana. I liked her design and we don't often get cool female myrmidons, but most of her supports just rub me the wrong way. I mean, she has this "me (and Sakura) against the world" mindset and it really does not work in her favour because she's just way too headstrong about it. Others that I "liked" but have grown to like less over time are Charlotte, Saizo, Kaden, Arthur, Felicia, Peri, and all the siblings. To be fair, I never liked Elise or Sakura from the start, but they've both somewhat grown on me. I don't really like them, but I don't dislike them either. Same. This, so much. On the other hand, people I disliked but have grown to like over time are: Azura, Mozu, Setsuna, Benny and Nyx. Also Azama. God damnit I hated that dude and wanted to stab him, but now I actually think his antics are funny. I don't know what changed..

Well, maybe not. Keaton: Oh? Yunan: ...well. *sigh* ...we're lost. Keaton: Urk... [spoiler=Supports and Quotes] Can A(+)-support with Keaton, Benny, Shura, Beruka, Nyx and Peri. Well, maybe not. Keaton: You have no idea, do you? Yunan: (Tsk... You're the one that got us lost in the first place.) Keaton: My ears are pretty good you know... Yunan: Oh no, what ever will I do? Keaton: ... Yunan: We're in no rush to get home anyways. Besides, hunting with these people is fun... Most of these people. Some of them. You. Keaton: Still? You know, humans aren't all that bad. One of them even gave me a piece of this broken plate! It's so sharp... Yunan: ...woah, it really is. Keaton: Also, this is your chance to finally connect with your kin! Avatar is really nice... I'll introduce you to him/her if you want! Yunan: No. Absolutely not. Keaton: Huh? What? Why? Yunan: That's none of your business. *Sigh* Forget it. *Leaves* Keaton: What's his problem? Hmm... This shard is so cool! B-Support Keaton: Hey, old friend. Yunan: Huh? Oh, Keaton. Keaton: Homesick? Maybe you need to touch my shard, or this metal cup I found! Someone bashed it in so hard... Yunan: Sorry, I don't think that's going to help. Keaton: Hmm... Let's go hunt for some rabbits then! That'll cheer you up! Yunan: I'm sorry... Keaton: Hmm? Yunan: I remember, y'know. The time before your parents found me. I was young, but I still remember. Keaton: ... Yunan: I used to walk around town with my mother. I held her hand. People would stare at us weirdly. At the time I didn't understand why, but my mother told me not to worry. Then one day, a man dressed in fancy clothing knocked on the door, the oh-so-great lord of our small town. He was accompanied by people in shiny armour. They told my mother that they had received word from several of the townspeople that she was housing a demon child. Crimson hair with blood-stained eyes, and teeth sharp like an animal. Keaton: ...Yunan? Yunan: Everything after that was a blur. But I remember my mother standing in front of me, yelling at the fancy old lord as I held on to her skirt. And then everything went silent as she fell to the floor, coughing up blood. Then she stopped... Keaton: I didn't know... You told us you didn't remember anything? Yunan: ...After that I remember clinging onto the lords throat. I can still taste it. Disgusting. And then I ran. One of the guards managed to get one of my eyes, thankfully I didn't lose it...and then eventually I found myself finding a place to rest in the forest, which is where you captured me. These people have teeth like mine, I thought. These people's eyes shine bright like mine, I thought. Am I safe? Now that I'm far away from lords and their demons? Well, maybe not, since you started talking about how you would prepare me...Haha. But thankfully your parents took me in and raised me like one of their own. Keaton: So that's why you didn't want to talk with Avatar? Because he's a "lord" like that man? Yunan: Probably. Most likely. Well, maybe not. I just don't like humans in general. I don't feel safe with them. But if it makes you happy, I'll give it a chance. But I don't think I'm ready to approach the fancy ones just yet. Keaton: Take it slow if you have to. We have time. Yunan: Right, because your sense of direction is not getting us home any time soon. Haha... Keaton: Sure, let's put this on me for now. Yunan: ...Thanks Keaton. Keaton: Any time, old friend. [spoiler=C-Support Conversation with Nyx] Yunan: What are you? Nyx: Pardon? Yunan: I tend to avoid the others, because I feel uneasy around them. Yet you. Nothing. Which can only mean, you’re not human are you? Nyx: What a rude child… While my circumstances are different than most, I am still very much human. The better question is, what about you? Yunan: Unfortunately, I am as well. Nyx: Are you sure? I see something…more. Either way, I’m not particularly interested. Will that be all, boy? Yunan: What do you mean? Tell me now. What do you know? Nyx: I am a fairly busy woman. I don’t have time to aid you in your quest for self-discovery. Yunan: …Please. If there’s something you know, please tell me. Nyx: *Sigh* Of all the things to get caught up in… Child. You are cursed. By what, I do not care. Can I find out? Of course. But I am not your mother. There is nothing in it for me, and until there is you are on your own. I will excuse myself now. *leaves* Yunan: I see… I guess I’ll just have to find something she’s interested in then. Edit: Added Support Conversations with Keaton (and Nyx) because maybewynaut.
  16. OP, you should definitely start with BR Lunatic to get a feel for what Lunatic can do. Although BR and CQ Lunatic are very different, BR allows you to get an understanding of what Lunatic can do. Focus on few (your favourite) units and don't spread your exp too far and wide. In a Lunatic run you are not going to use all your characters, so focusing on a select few and their pair-up partners is what's important. I find making a list of who's going to support who helps a lot. Secondly, for the first few chapters, focus on giving Kamui all the kills. Felicia/Jakob can get exp from staff usage, and Gunter shouldn't be eating exp in the first place. You can easily give Kamui every single kill in the chapter where you fight Rinka and Kaze (except one I think) by positioning Kamui-Felicia/Jakob-Gunter in a line like that on the healing tiles. Paralogues are also great sources for exp. Lastly, stat-boosts are incredibly important. Make good use of the Capture feature (Orochi/Niles), and get units that have Rally Skills, staves or High Move units who can carry you places. Tonics are your best friend. But make sure you don't mindlessly throw tonics on a character as they honestly don't need them all. Try doing a chapter without any tonics first and see if any units get doubled and if a speed tonic will fix that, or if a def tonic will help your unit survive one of those hits. You can easily calculate damage by looking at an opponent's unit Atk and subtracting your defense from it. That should help you figure out if a unit will die or not by placing them somewhere. All in all, Lunatic is all about trial and error and finding out what works and what doesn't. Rely on the "Royals" if you don't think you can manage without them, just because people are doing no-royal runs and whatnot doesn't mean you have to throw yourself in there with them. At some point in time, we were all new to Fire Emblem and we all still make mistakes. Best of luck! You can do this!
  17. Holy shit I had no idea.... abuse abuse abuseabuse Yeah, this actually happened a lot in BR as well. Ninjas would just bomb me with Shurikens, especially those who couldn't counterattack.. (which I shouldn't have allowed in the first place, but BR made me pretty nonchalant about unit placement) Sooo, I'm on Chapter 10 now on Conquest. Not too many problems so far and I managed to Capture both Haitaka and the Archer with 8 Mag (Mag which is useless for now, but that Archer was the only "unique" one). I can probably persuade one of them for Chapter 10 as I haven't done Mozu's paralogue yet. I was thinking of using the Archer for the Bow Turret (Ch 10) since there's two of them in the chapter and Niles is my only archer...but Rally Defense is also really useful. Which one do you reckon I should get? Headed to bed for now so I'll wait for some input. Also: is Nyx good? (Seems like she's a bomb glass cannon, but I didn't use her in my first playthrough so I dunno how she'll work out) I feel like I need a(n extra) Tome-user before Leo shows up, and I haven't give Odin any exp so far. I was thinking I'd be fine till I turn Elise into a Strategist, but I'm second guessing myself. I guess I could use her and hook her up with Leo once he joins.. Edit: So Chapter 10 was pretty awful...I somehow managed to do it on my first try but I was clinging to dear life by the end of it. I really wanted to kill Takumi but couldn't get to him in time. I ended up recruiting Haitaka since the Archer would've only been used for this chapter anyways...managed to get Beruka some experience as well, although Camilla stole a lot of it (shame). Makes me wanna try a "no-royal" lunatic run and see how it goes.
  18. Great Knight Azura ):)) (S-Rank Silas)
  19. Personally, when I do things like these I like to focus on training eight units. Four "frontliners", and four peeps for pair-up shenanigans. The rest will be on staff or rally duty (or shuriken/bow sneak attacks). I don't really include some (pre-promoted) units like Xander or Ryoma--or the Avatar by extension--in there since they join with considerable stats and/or have great personal skills or weapons allowing them to hold up on their own. Update: Just finished Hoshido and omg the feels... I must say while I wish BR Lunatic was a lot more difficult (the final battle was stupid easy..), the story was superior to Conquest's. Well then, off to Conquest Lunatic!
  20. Thank you to everyone who gave their input! If anyone else has any other ideas, feel free to pitch in! ^^
  21. Husky Effie is def going to be part of the team. Same with Niles cause of Capture and Kaze because Ninja. I'll be using all the siblings and Selena because she was amazing in my first run. I wanted to use Lazwald as well, but the time of his recruitment really sucks so we'll see. Haven't really decided on anyone else yet, and I didn't use Beruka my first time so I'll probably use her this time as well. We'll see about Benny. And I'll try to do it as "legit" as possible, hell or no. Since I'm not gonna throw myself into whatever PvP this game has until Revelations comes out in Europe I might end up allowing characters to die and sob while I do so if I can't find another way. Aaah, I see. Well, she's not important for this run anyways, and unless she has RNG God status I probably won't be using her much later either:p was never a big fan to be honest. Is Corrin her only support option?
  22. Hana is pretty cool cause #fempower but Hinata is my bro. my broski. my bronata.
