  1. As much as I like Lucina, she was pretty lame after the chapter she joined. She's just like "We have to stop Grima. No, wait, this isn't supposed to happen. Crap, we didn't stop Grima...wait, just kidding we stopped Grima. It's all good, guys." Pretty lame as a character. Even her supports, from the ones that I have seen, didn't do her a lot of justice.

Don't forget that she is a time-traveler who do nothing really worthwhile. ;p

Kind of like your common peggy-sue when you think about it.

The scene where she confronts the avatar after chapter 21 is pretty much the most memorable moment in the game for me, and it came pretty close to the end. It's super obvious throughout the game what the avatar does in the future, and Lucina is the only one who actually wants to do something about it.

  2. I'm reading the dragon blood as an analogue to royal blood, since after all, both royal families have it. It's like an AU where royals actually have something special about them besides being the descendants of conquerors.

If there's anything to be upset about, it's that fire emblem keeps following royal protagonists (Ike being the exception), instead of common folk. I mean,

even Robin in awakening turned out to be a surprise! royal.

  3. Awakening had 6 people listed in the credits for writing/scenario. I imagine some of them will be working on this game as well, with Shin Kibayashi either leading the team or handling the core plot development.

I say this because I doubt he'll be doing like, all the support conversations. But it's funny to imagine IS bringing in this renowned author and asking him to write the S-rank support for MU and Cravat-san.

  4. I'm guessing there will be more cosmetic choices like Awakening (which had what, 4-5?), but more choices that lead to splits in the plot would become a development issue. IS is already making almost 3 games for If; it would be a ton of work if there were more branching paths within those games.

The most we can hope for is probably "do you recruit this character or this other character?" type of situations.

  5. So with Famitsu giving us even more info, it appears that Sorcerers are Nohr-specific as well - meanwhile Hoshido has Oni(which would explain Rinka/Linca's headgear/mask) a unit with high strength and defence.

With Oni being so obviously related to Japan, what are everyone's thoughts about new Hoshido-specific classes? (Seeing how Nohr has gotten all horse-mounted units and now sorcerers and Brave Heroes)

I think we're due for another Hoshido unit that wields naginatas, probably a footsoldier. Right now pegasus knights and Aqua are the only units we've seen with them. Knights look to be Nohr-only, with Oni maybe taking their place in Hoshido (high defense). I guess ninjas might wield them, but I doubt it.

It could be like the Soldier class in past games, except not terrible.

  6. Hoshido, then Nohr, then Third Path.

Welcome to the party! Hope you enjoy yourself, and the more negative views on some of IF's feedback which seems to be dying down.

Yeah, I probably wouldn't be posting here if I couldn't accept that many serenesforest users have a drastically different perception of new fire emblem games than me!

  7. Hey! I've been lurking the forums here for a while, with the frequency of my visits increasing as info started trickling out about FE14. Lately I've been here every day, and I'm sure that will continue once people get their hands on the game in June. Normally I try to avoid spoilers (going into most Fire Emblems pretty much blind), but with such a release gap for the english version I doubt I'll hold out for long. Figured I'd make an account for the occasions when I have thoughts to share.

I might start following FExSMT too when that approaches. It looks bananas, I love my WiiU, and the Persona games have been highly recommended to me (it looks pretty much like a Persona game, just with fire emblem idol robots).

  8. I was wondering about this too, since as of now we haven't seen traditional fire emblem mages in If. Nohr has dark mages, Hoshido has whatever Orochi is, but normal mages haven't been spotted on either side (unless they're drastically redesigned). Could be they exist in Nohr, or on both sides. Or the use of anima magic was split up between dark mages and Orochi's class.

I'm curious about the ice-rat type deal we saw in the trailer, and whether it has some kind of triangle interaction with dark and anima magic, or if it's just a new type of anima itself.
