At least Chrom shouldn't be the Duo Hero, since he already has a Duo Alt. It could be Young Robin though.

He can still get a Duo alt if he's the backpack. With Emmeryn in front, for example. Duo Lyon showed IS isn't above putting the more popular character in the back if they need to (at long last). Granted Lyon completed the pattern of FE8 duo units that way, but it'd be weird to have Lissa and Frederick here without Chrom, so I think him being here is inevitable: we just need to see how.

2 minutes ago, Diovani Bressan said:

I expect Frederick to be the 4* special or the grail unit.

I think he's going to be the Grail unit too, which is a shame. I think it'd be nice for him to get a busted kit - or at least something good enough to be the 4* focus.

  2. I just lost all of my Orbs so really hope we still get another 300 this month so I can pull on the Engage HoF. We won't get another calendar until next week, will we?

Also, in preparation for the upcoming Engage HoF, I'm crossing my fingers for OG!F!Alear to be featured so I can turn her into a godsword. I don't think we've gotten any new relevant skills for her in the past month so is the following still an optimal set-up for her? And are there any better/ other strong alternatives I should get instead? Thanks in advance everyone! I've listed a second best option for each slot and I'd appreciate your feedback on whether those really are "second best" or better too, if possible. Thanks again!

    (Liberation & Rally+)
    No Quarter (second best: GLR)
    Atk/Spd Finish 4 (second best: Atk/Spd Prime 4)
Potent 4 (second best: Spurn 4)
Incite Atk/Spd (second best: Atk/Spd Pledge)

S Slot: would probably be DC (especially if I get Atk/Spd Finish) or an Atk/Spd boosting one (more likely with Prime).

P.S. Is Null/ Petalfall Blade+ still the best weapon available from HoF for swordies at the moment? Thanks again - again!

As long as you plan on pulling more copies of Ginnungagap.

That's what I wound up doing so I may go for her Divine Codes path down the line. But Heather's on there for 800 and Incite is now on my R!Lif (along with Fatal Smoke 4) so I'm not TOO worried about getting more of her. Not that I can afford to be.

Special Fighter 4 is currently the standard B skill for slow armors that already have a guaranteed follow-up on their weapon (and aren't running Hardy Fighter), provided there isn't too much overlap in skill effects. Fast armors have a few more options (Savvy Fighter 4, Gambit 4, etc.), though it still mostly depends on what skill effects are overlapping with other slots.

D/R Far Trace is also the standard C skill for slow Far Save armors. You typically want to run D/R over either of the Atk options unless you're extremely confident about the defensive stat you're not getting.

Odd that despite BK's stats and A skill his kit is tailored for slow Armors. Huh. I don't have any of those I want to level up at the moment but we'll see if any interesting Armor units show up as GHB or TT rewards down the line I guess.

But for now, my B!Eirika has been updated! She's using No Quarter + Flared Sparrow + Incite Atk/Spd on top of her default kit. May she not let me down!

  4. 2 hours ago, Ice Dragon said:

Remote Sparrow is the safest A skill for ranged units, even when they have access to Flared Sparrow and even when they're running Fleeting Echo.

It's always up to you how much bulk you're willing to sacrifice for damage and vice versa, and there isn't really a right answer.

It is worth noting, though, that Remote Sparrow has significant distribution (1 unit in the standard pool, 2 in the Legendary/Mythic/Emblem pool, and 7 Special Heroes) compared to only 2 units with Incite Atk/Spd (1 in the standard pool, 1 in the LME pool), so skipping out on being able to duplicate Remote Sparrow isn't too big of loss.

Arcane Eljudnir is always worth considering giving to slow sword units that don't have an exclusive weapon or have an outdated exclusive weapon if you're using one.

Atk/Def Clash 4 currently competes with Atk/Def Prime 4 for the A slot on slow melee cavalry and fliers and will also compete with a future Flared Sturdy. However, Prime 4 is only really competitive on units that have a means of not dropping dead to magic (or if you can ensure they'll only fight physical units on enemy phase), and Flared has no effect on enemy phase, so despite the fancy alternative options, Clash 4 is always going to at least remain competitive with them.

    Thanks as always, Ice!

I jumped the gun and gave Peony Atk/Spd Prime 4, No Quarter, Flared Sparrow and Atk/Spd Oath 4. Oops.

But my plan now is to feed Merric to R!Ophelia so she gets both Remote Sparrow and Incite Atk/Spd, then use both units to load R!Lif up on Flared Sparrow, No Quarter and Incite Atk/Spd so I can then use him as as All-In-One fodder supply for Cavs (and a source of Eljudnir + Incite for Sword Infantry + Cavs). I hope everyone considers that a good use of fodder! Please stop me if it's not!

Edit: New idea - is it worth giving Remote Sparrow & Incite Atk/Spd to Ginnungagap instead? Granted I need to reach the end of a Divine Codes path to get a second copy, but it's one with Heather (more Remote Sparrow) and B!Soren (Flare + Mag FU) so... that's worth it, I think? I don't know if BK's fodder is considered worthy now though.

But at least this way I have Ophelia free to store Atk/Spd Finish 4 + Atk/Spd Pledge. Not that I have any illusions of getting any other Infantry Rearmed/ Attuned Heroes to pass them along to...

  5. Is Remote Sparrow still relevant or is it only good for infantry units these days? I got an Ascended Merric and want to know who to feed him to. Incite Atk/Spd is my main focus but the only Heroes I have who can copy both are:

    R!Ophelia (2 copies), R!Sonya and R!Ginnungagap (both at 1 copy + potentially 1 from Divine Codes 5).

Then when looking at who can get Incite Atk/Spd I have the above and:

    R!Lucina (1 + 1 from Divine Codes 5), R!Lif (x3), R!Chrom (x2).

So I guess Lif is the logical option if I just want Incite. I asked something like this a month or two ago but are his base skills worth giving to anyone? Ice suggested holding onto him to store any Atk/Def skills for a future tanky unit (and then we got Mauvier) but I'd like to know if that's still worth doing or if I should focus on using him to copy newer skills (he has A/D Clash 4 + A/D Menace at the moment).

    Thanks in advance, everyone!

I don't get why Fliers can't get Incite, that would have made things SO much simpler...

  6. Well, my luck went as expected. I got a few Peony copies which I'm happy with but mostly Claudes (including one who stole my focus charges) and the only Alear I got was from the second spark. I think I'm going to try and get a Merric and/ or Caeda from the NH Banner and maybe come back to this if I can reach another spark before the banner expires. I hope your luck is better everyone!

    UPDATE:

I think I'm going to try and get a Merric and/ or Caeda from the NH Banner

I got one of each, including the spark. 💀

  7. Not too much story in this one but it's still more story than other Books had at this point. I... actually like where this is going! Veronica wanting to attend the peace meeting despite being poisoned and coming to terms with all the trouble she caused in the past is some nice character development on her part too. I'm looking forward to what comes next and hope whoever wrote the plot this time around does a good job with the rest of it too!

    On strictly enemy-phase units, yes.

And then there's the fact that Distant/Close Bonus Doubler is almost certainly going to be restricted to infantry since Bonus Doubler is restricted to infantry, so all other movement types will still have to settle for the other Distant/Close Counter variants.

In combination with Pledge or Incite (or any new skill series with similar effects) once all of the stat combinations are released, you're always going to want the 2 most useful stats in the C slot and the third most useful stat in the Echo slot. So only if Def and Res are the unit's 2 most useful stats, this combination will be optimal.

Given that Pulse Up is probably only going to have an Atk/Spd variant and a Def/Res variant due to its naming scheme, Pulse Up: Shields + Atk Oath Echo will be optimal for units that don't need Spd once Pulse Up: Shields is released.

Thanks as always, Ice! I suppose I can consider a D/R C Skill + Atk Oath Echo combo if I start training a tanky infantry unit in the future. And I overlooked the downsides of Bonus DC/ CC. Now if only it had been available for HF!Corrin in the recent HoF, it would have been better than Distant A/S Solo for her, wouldn't it?

On the other hand, we're finally getting another human melee infantry skill duplicator to join Ganglot.

That's what stood out to me too, finally! Thanks to Merric Incite Atk/Spd is in the main pool now as well. So fodder-wise this banner is a dream come true for me... so of course it drops now right before AHR. I was considering only going up to the second spark there, so maybe I'll have a few Orbs to spare afterwards? We'll see.

I know buff neutralization is a thing, but are Bonus Doubler DC/ CC now the best Counter variants?

Also, I was going to ask if D/R Pledge + Atk Oath Echo was a good combo, but then I remembered Pledge granted an in-combat buff too. Darn.

    16 minutes ago, Humanoid said:

    - Caeda as a flying tank isn't the type of unit I'd really use, and for duplicating skills simply pulling more Peonies seems like it'd be a lot better.

Caeda is Infantry. That's what makes her more enticing fodder-wise (at least for me).

Of course they'd drop an Archanean banner with fodder I actually want when I need to save up for AHR.

I might skip anyway just because I can't afford this. Also, what is it with Archanea shafting all their staff units?

This is a perfect tl;dr of how I feel xD

It completely escaped my mind that Gambit 4 is usable by Peony and only has weapon-type restrictions and no movement-type restrictions.

As such, it's probably the best B skill Peony has access to that she can give to human melee infantry, though that still comes with the caveat that Gambit 4 requires specific skill effect combinations to function.

She can also copy Potent for non-Armors, but I don't know how applicable that would be for a skill still so rare.

Ok cool. Free Peony. Of the 8, she was one of my top 2 to get, if only for fodder. I'm satisfied, I guess.

If you get copies of her on the banner you can use her to duplicate skills, so she gets added value that way if that helps?

Clearly FEH didn't know enough lore to realize that Sylvain isn't Inigo or Virion.

Either that or FEH is a weird combination of lazy and disregardful of other games to change existing characters' personalities to things they were not. Looking at the utter failure that was their attempt to characterize Wil. And being afraid of portraying Shinon as the racist ass he is and making him some jerk with a heart of gold when he's a lot more of a dick than Heroes thinks he is.

It's weird since in Year 1 there were interviews about how faithful IS wanted to be. I'm not surprised that a few characters fell through the cracks, but then you see some characters being intentionally changed... to make them more appealing, presumably.

  13. 9 hours ago, Etrurian emperor said:

Its funny the banner portrays Sylvain as a loser who can't get a date. The point of Sylvain is that he's a successful flirt who then dumps his dates because he's an ass.

FEH in general treats him that way, even in the manga, weirdly enough. At least they improved him with this flanderization instead of how they treat other characters?

  14. And with that the event ends. It was Same Hell for the last two hours and Alear was slightly in the lead, I wonder if that'll remain true in the final tally too. While I wanted Sanaki for the sisterly fluff, Peony and F!Alear were my biggest wants from the 8 so I'll be happy either way... though I confess I would prefer a free Peony.

Also, great that 3 Houses and Engage got my least favorite seasonal banner, hope that means they'll get less things later on the year, specially Engage. The Engage fatigue is really hapenning now I guess (even though it's good for me that they get the Bunny banner instead of say, the bridal one or something), they already got all the 3 mythic/Legendary/emblem heroes of this year for now, a New Heroes banner and now half of a seasonal banner dedicated to them, and we're on the beggining of march! And I'm sure they'll take part in at least the summer and fallen banners too so there will be more of them in the middle of the year. Glad no one from Engage won CYL at least cause geez... They're really compensating for the lack of representation it had last year.

Maybe, but this could just be one big "Engage blast" because of its one year anniversary. If anything IS couldn't even stick the landing properly since half this batch is 3H. Again.

That said, I'm sure we'll get an Engage overdose eventually. If anything I welcome it (at least for now) just so we don't get drowned in 3H units and alts for a while...

I'm still debating, but I feel that saving the orbs for when Camilla comes back would be better for my plans

Yeah, that makes sense, especially if you already have one or more of the current candidates. Best of luck with your saving!

What excuse does Edelgard even have for her losses at this point?

At first it was because people just voted for Edelgard because it was Edelgard regardless of whether her being on the banner made any sense (i.e. they voted for og! and Brave Edelgard). Then they voted for Fallen Edelgard twice(?) despite every banner in the second half of 2021 (her debut year) having a F!Edelgard counter or two. Then she kept getting matched against units who were rarer or more useful and this year lost to the Green dream.

I'm sure there are people who voted against her for the meme too, but I guarantee there were also people voting "because it's Edelgard" too so that balances out. How much do you want to bet her absurdly high rankings are because random people on the internet saw "Fire Emblem character poll" and honed in on her whether they play Heroes or not? I'm certain that's what happened in the early years and I find it hard to believe people who actually pay attention to the game thought W!Edelgard was the most valuable Hero in this year's batch (I agree she's stupidly powerful, but not enough to rank first over all the other contenders).

... I didn't expect to get two whole paragraphs out of that. Hope that doesn't come off as ranting, though I admit I am getting sick of her being forced onto these polls more often than not.

I've used Nudge a lot on Elimine in Aether Raids and on Silque in my infantry monthly quest team. There are definitely times when I wish I had Return, but also times when Nudge has been perfect.

It's also worth noting that my infantry monthly quest team consists entirely of dual-phase units (currently Sothis, Flame Lyn, and Legendary Female Alear), which is why this setup works with Silque. A team with weaker enemy-phase performance would certainly prefer Return to do standard hit-and-run strategies.

For flying units, like Fluffy Hat Nanna, it's probably better to run Return, at least for general use. Being able to Reposition an infantry or cavalry unit over impassible terrain is pretty useful and can't be done with Nudge, and Return is better-suited for the more typical hit-and-run playstyle.

Thank you very much, I appreciate the personal anecdote too! Another vote for Return + Dazzling Staff then!

If you have anything else in codes 4 you're considering picking up

Unfortunately everything there has been powercrept into dust. The only skill that really sticks out anymore is M!Shez's Atk/Spd Oath 4 for 4000 codes and I have enough codes to do that five times over xD

But considering I also prefer Reposition to other movement assists, I guess I should just opt for Return. Heck, maybe we'll get someone in the main pool with Dazzling Trace I could give her afterwards, I always wanted to have that skill. Thanks again, Ether! I hope your H!Mia is doing well!

Speaking of which, the fuck is up with Edelgard and AHR? I'm actually starting to believe the only way she'll win one of these is if she somehow gets five versions of herself voted in.

I'm sure that'll happen sooner than later.

5 hours ago, Fire Emblem Fan said:

I'm amazed Edelgard still cannot seem to win an AHR Voting Gauntlet. It's kind of hilarious?

I want IS to blacklist 3H for a few years already, but I hope IS takes the hint and stops spamming the house leaders if only so their dear Edelgard won't have to go through this again.

    5 hours ago, Tybrosion said:

Also, imagine being an academy house leader who (yet again) doesn't get to appear on the AHR banner. RIP Adrestian bozo, for the sixth time in these AHR Voting Gauntlets.

But the 3H fans still got the last laugh by getting Claude in over Camilla who has the far better fodder and utility at the moment. Crazy how fast powercreep grew from the Wind Tribe banner, but still.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, I use past history to attempt to predict each hour's gains based on army size and the multiplier in effect.

Okay, so that's roughly what I had in mind, though I confess some of the specifics went over my head. I'm really interested in a machine learned version of this in the future though! A shame the only methods I'm comfortable with are Bayes and simple neural networking 😕

In any case, thank you very much for the explanation! And sorry that I'm hoping Version A gets the Edelgard vs Peony prediction wrong!

  22. @DarkAlf, what algorithms are you running for your predictors, if that's something you're willing to share?

Anyway, as stated before I'm on Team Peony and we've been on the backfoot a lot during this VG. For every hour she leads she's stuck with ~2 hours of multipliers back to back. I just hope your backup is right about her getting a multiplier on the final hour instead of them being trapped in same hell. As for the other pairings, the spreadsheets are undecided on Gullveig vs Dimitri but unilateral on Camilla and Alear moving forward. As much as I personally would love to have Duo Sanaki, I can accept that (as also said earlier).

According to this chart, the orb income for the current calendar "month" is about 321. We can also look for posts like this for previous posts for more data: for example, the Mar-April calendar last year covered about 311 orbs for the month.

At a glance at a number of others, it looks like the average is still 300+.

Ooh, perfect! Thank you so much for looking this up, Othin!!
