  5. Chapter 4 - The Flame (Katie) “Whoa, Cool Story Alexandria,” Madison said, grinning. David closed his eyes again, so I continued packing up our stuff. Alexandria tossed me a little coin purse. “Here, looks like you could use this,” She said, winking at me. I looked inside and put my hand in it. The purse was huge! “Uh, Is this… a magic bag??,” I said, staring at it, “Thanks..” I muttered, “No problem Katie.” She said back to me, before she nodded and padded down to the lake. “Ugh, I hate water,” I thought to no one in particular. Something brushed my leg. Looking down, I saw it was a cat. The orange tabby nodded as to say, I know. I gently pet him and ruffled his fur. He jumped on my lap and curled up in a ball. Leaving him on my jacket, I got up to finish packing up my stuff. David was still sitting down with his eyes closed when I finished putting stuff in the purse. “Geez, talk about being in the past today,” I snickered to him. His eyes opened with a start. “Oh, um, what?” he asked me. “Never mind,” Jessica said, walking up to them with Kyle, “We’ve got bigger problems.” Madison and Jenny rushed over. “That evil dragon, Felinor, he sent a bunch of evil things here.. We MUST get moving!” Kyle rushed. “And you figured this out… how?” Moon, who had been standing there the whole time unnoticed, asked. “Long story?” Jessica said, shrugging. I then noticed that Kyle was holding Jessica around the waist. Jenny apparently noticed this too, and looked the other way, meeting my eyes. Moon was horrified, “not planned… must leave...” She muttered, so low I could only hear every other two words. “Um, Moon, chill. We’ll be out of here soon,” I said, finishing packing my stuff up, and sticking the coin purse with our stuff in my bag. The sun was still rising in the sky, but the sky was dark and gloomy. A chariot pulled by two seahorses pulled out from under the water. A woman who looked like Alexandria, but instead of feet, she had a mermaid tail. “God, I really need to get used to this place,” I muttered. Waving us over, she yelled, “Jump In!” Jenny, David, Jessica, and Kyle were the closest to the “chariot” thing, and hopped in. Alexandria disappeared under the water, and another chariot, driven by a young girl who looked almost exactly like Alexandria, but with Red hair, and a red tail. She wore a red tang top, and the 3 others of us jumped in the chariot, me holding a cat I had found wandering around camp. “Andd, DOWN WE GO!” the red-head shouted, Whom I never seemed to catch the name of. I clutched on to the cat at my lap. Suddenly though, he was gone, and across from me sat a red-headed boy. “Dammit,” I muttered silently. Apparently he heard me though, for he looked up at me. “Um, hi,” the boy murmured, “I’m Alex.” He held out his hand, “Nice to finally meet you in person.” Alex chuckled at his own joke. I rolled my eyes. Madison and Moon were deeply into some conversation about something that I would probably strike as stupid. I looked back at the boy. “So, you’re a shape shifter?” “Nah, I’m an animagus.” Alex said, rubbing his head. He actually had kitty ears on his head- as well as regular ears at the side. “Like… in Harry Potter?” Madison asked him suddenly. “Harry Potter? What’s that?” Alex asked. “Um, It’s a book about wizards,” Madison mumbled crossly. “Oh, cool. Wizards are awesome.. but they’re kinda stuck up,” he muttered, shrugging. I looked at Moon, who was silently looking out the window. Looking out my window, I could see why. The windows were thick glass, but crystal clear. I could see the ocean. “Ughhh, Water,” I groaned silently. Fire does not do well with water. Flicking my fingers, I summoned my own personal flame in my hand. It’s comforting, and feels soft. Who would think that fire would feel soft? This flame did. It was my flame, a part of me, created and summoned with my own hands. The carriage, submarine, whatever it was, halted to a stop. Moon turned around to me, as I was sitting next to her. “We’re here already?” She asked, confused. “Uh, we’ve been on this carriage for about thirty minutes Moon,” I muttered to her loudly. She glanced at me confused, “No, we just got on.” “No,” I said, pointing at my watch, “It’s been 30 minutes.” “Hmph,” She said, looking confused. I continued playing with my flame, but started putting it out. There is no way possible it could survive the water. They pulled to a stop in front of a castle. Sarcastically I asked, “Why should I be surprised?” and hopped out of the submarine thing pulling Alex (still in human form) behind me. I was expecting to be drenched. Wouldn’t anyone? But before I realized we were in and underwater dome, sealed from the outside water, “Wait a second, how did we get in here?” I asked, confused. There were no exits or entrances. Just a… bubble? Sticking my hand through it, and pulling it back in, I found my hand was wet. The red-head walked over to me. “Magical bubble,” she muttered and rolled her eyes, “Oh, and by the way, I’m Alexia. Prefer Alexa personally.” “I’m Katie,” I said, flicking my fingers to create my loving flame. “Ah, You have the power of The Flame.” Alexa started, “Like me!” She said, showing me her personal fire in her hands.
  6. Chapter 3 - Flashback (David) We moved as soon as school got out. I was in 4th grade. I had a summer birthday, so it was common for me to be younger than everyone. There was one girl in my class who was younger than me. She was bumped up a grade, and she was 9. I instantly found a friend in her. My dad said I was always good at making friends and I would fit right in. It was my first day at my new school, and Jenny was assigned the seat next to me. She had lived in this town all her life. I had just moved here, to this small little town, from a huge city. The change was difficult for me. I missed all my friends in London. Oh, that’s where I lived. London, England. We don’t live in England anymore. We moved to a little island, I’m not exactly sure what the name of the town I live in is called though. I’m too sad about leaving London too remember. Oh, that’s right. I live on a little island called Princess Cove. It’s off the shore a ways from England, so we wouldn’t be going back to London to visit much, if at all. Apparently, it was called that because the Royal Family once lived there and had a daughter there. My school friends envied me for moving to a place called Princess Cove. Well, the girls at least. They thought I might magically become a prince. My best friend, Ava and me and been best friends ever since I could remember. I was sad leaving her. “You don’t really have to leave, do you?” I remember Ava asking with teary eyes. I frowned. “I wish I didn’t have to go,” I had replied, hugging my best friend until my dad yelled for me, “Bye Ava. I’ll miss you.” I said, getting into the car. The last memory I have of her was her crying her eyes out on my old lawn. “Poor Ava,” I had thought. When I arrived in Princess Cove, which by the way, we had to take a ferry to get to, my dad immediately started unpacking stuff into our new house. My mom laid down on the couch once my dad had unloaded it. My neighbor’s came over to welcome us. They had two 9 year old daughters- Jenny, and Madison. Jenny and Madison were two of the best twins you could meet. They got along wonderfully, and immediately started being friends with me. Did I mention they lived in a castle? And our house was basically, a mansion? “David, David, Come play dolls with us!” Jenny yelled from another room. I laughed. They were playing with my little sister who was 8. She took the move nicely, unlike me… Oh, yeah, first day of school. So, Me, Jenny, and Madison, walked in the doors together. Jenny and Mad both had like super-stylish clothes on, unlike me. I was wearing normal jeans, and a polo shirt. “Boy, am I going to feel out of place here.” I muttered. “Nah! You’ll fit in perfectly,” Jenny said, smiling.
  7. Chapter 2 - Back to the Grove (David) A few hours previous… “Where the hell are they?” I grumbled, “They were supposed to meet me here. I mean, I know I’m a little late but… really?” I picked an apple from the tree and laid down in front of it. Before I closed my eyes, I noticed a cave entrance I had never seen before on the edge of the field. “Oh, now I see it.” I trudged toward the cave but took my backpack off and left it on the grass. “Here goes nothing.” I yelled, running into the cave. The cave was dark. Okay, that’s an understatement. The cave was pitch black, and I couldn’t see anything. The cave was getting smaller and smaller. I saw a small beam of light ahead and started crawling to it. The damn hole was way too small to get through. “Damn hole…” I said, muttering and trying to dig my way out. Digging was an understatement. I just… made the hole get bigger and bigger. I found a strange gold-and indigo gem on a chain around my neck. “HAH! I can fit through now!” I jumped through… and saw something totally terrible, yet not so terrible at the same time. A dog was standing next to the cave, as well as a bunch of ….Forest Elves? “Correction: Forest Nymphs.” The one dressed in a short green dress with a tiara in her golden locks one came out and shook my hand, “I’m Kayla, the queen of the Forest Nymphs, and you are…?” “Um, I’m David.” I said, confused. “Ah, Space has arrived.” Kayla said to her fellow Nymphs. “Who.. What?” I asked, still confused. Kayla sighed, “Welcome to Aitha, young boy.” She said, “Aitha…?” I asked. I had never heard of a place called Aitha before. “Yes, boy, Aitha, the home of the mystical creatures,” She winked at me and grabbed my hand. My head spun with dizziness, as she lifted me up into a tree, and the trees passed me down, horribly fast. So horribly, I felt like I was going to throw up. Luckily I didn’t. I mean, honestly, the trees probably would have been mad if I threw up on the forest. “You bet we would,” said the tree holding me. I stared with disbelief. “Oh, talking trees too?” I crossed my hands over my chest and focused on the colors of my clothes- the dark blue of my jeans, the red of my shirt, and the indigo of my necklace. “Don’t worry, you’ll be there soon,” a female tree said to me. “Sure, thanks.” I muttered, although I was falling asleep. When I woke up, I found myself in a huge clearing with kids in sleeping bags at the opposite end of it. “Again, here goes nothing.” I thought, walking over to them. I could see 6 colors of sleeping bags laid out in rainbow order, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Violet/Purple. They were missing Indigo, I thought. Lying next to the 6 sleeping bags, were another 2, in black. One was occupied by a female with blue hair and a ribbon in her hair, the other was empty. I laid down on it, without further seeing who the people were, and fell asleep. *** Upon waking up in the morning, I figured out who the people were. Jenny and Madison were there, along with Katie, Kyle, Jessica, Moon, and the lady Alexandria, the “Queen” of the Water Nymphs. “Can’t just have plain elves?” I muttered under my breath. “I heard that young man. The regular elves, oh, they died out years ago.” Alexandria said to me angrily. “How do you keep in touch with each other? You and Kayla, I mean.” I asked, curiously. Alexandria blinked, “Ah, so you met Kayla.” I nodded. “Young children, let me tell you a story.” Alexandria said, motioning at us to come over. Everyone sat down around her, watching her with curious eyes. “When the land was new, and Aitha was born, the mysticals from earth were all summoned here. We had created enough problems on earth. The elves- the noblest and greatest elves, summoned each other for a meeting. At that time, they had one ruler, Queen Stephanie. She saw the flaws of the current system, and had the elves debate on what to do.” Alexandria said. “She decided on one idea. They would split the land: The Sky, The Water, The Land. Queen Stephanie liked this idea herself. The floor separated themselves into four groups, those who would remain normal elves, and then the sky, the water, and the land. Queen Stephanie gave each group their own looks, powers, habitats, and so on. This is how the Nymphs were created.” “She trusted her two favorite knights to be queens of the land and sea. Their names were Alexandria and Kayla. So Stephanie ruled the sky, Alexandria ruled the waters, and Kayla has ruled the land ever since.” I felt myself being pulled back to reality. Somehow, I was reminded of the time I met Jenny… ***
  8. Please don't post in this thread so I can keep it one post per chapter. You can PM me with advice? :D Thanks (: Chapter 1 - Crystal Clear (Jenny) It all started on a typical Monday afternoon. Sounds ordinary right? Well, it DID happen on a Monday afternoon, but it was far from ordinary. Anyway, Madison and I were trotting through the forest on our horses. The trees got thinner until we reached a clearing of apple trees. I hopped off my horse and reached up to grab an apple from the closest tree. “Hey, grab me one too!” Madison asked, looking around. I pulled another down for her and tossed it to her. I pulled out a picnic blanket and sat down on it with my book, munching my Granny Smith Apple. I pulled out my iPod and put it on full blast. Madison sat down next to me, reading “Life and Death,” which was apparently this book that was wrote about two girls who died and then became the personifications of life and death. I found it interesting, but it was like 1,000 pages. “Too much for me,” I thought, sighing. Madison munched on her apple too. I paused my iPod and looked around. “Do you know when David will be here?” I asked. “Not a clue.” She said, still reading her book. “What page are you on?” I asked curiously. “Seven hundred and Seventy-seven,” She said, still reading. “And you started that.. when?” “Um… yesterday afternoon,” I shook my head like she was crazy, but continued reading my-awesome-less-than-500-page book, “Mystic.” It was based on a bunch of kids who were mystical creatures. “Bah, like this would happen in real life.” I muttered, even though I loved the book. Glancing around again, I saw that David had still not joined us. But what I did see- was a door. “Mad, did you notice there was a door right there?” I said, examining it. Walking around it, it looked just like a freestanding, huge, castle door. I blinked a few times, but it just… stayed there. Madison came over, with her bag already slung over her shoulder and her apple finished. “Uh, Looks like an ordinary door, Jen.” Madison grumbled to me. “Let’s go inside!” I exclaimed, throwing the door open. “Jenny! WAIT! It could be a trap!!” Madison yelled at me. I ignored her, and threw myself through the door. Looking down, I realized what I stepped in to wasn’t the ground- I was falling through the sky. I braced myself for landing, but as I looked down, suddenly, everything was white, and damp. I squeezed my eyes shut tightly, and hugged myself. Looking down, but immediately wishing I hadn’t, I saw the ground getting closer and closer. “Great. Just great,” I muttered, trying to calm myself down. I absolutely positively had no idea what I was getting myself into. Something nudged me. Opening my eyes, I found myself in a patch of grass. A horse nudged me again. I sat up slowly, until the horse was eye to eye with me. I rubbed the bump on my head. "Gosh, that was a long fall." It nodded and on top of her head was a beautiful white horn, and at the top a blue gem, “Wait, what!?” I yelled. “Ooof!” Madison landed on the ground next to me. Madison stood up, and rubbing her back. “Long fall,” She grumbled, picking her backpack, and its scattered contents off the ground, “Uh, where the heck are we?” She looked around confused, “And why… is there a unicorn standing next to you?” Madison came over, plainly as confused as I was, “Um.. what is this place?” “I’m as confused as you are Madison…” I said, biting my nails. “How are you this fine day, Young Jenny?” The Unicorn said. “You… you can talk?! And how do you know my name? SOMEONE tell me what’s going on!” I yelled. “I’m Star-shine. Pleased to meet your acquaintance,” Star-shine nodded slightly. I, then noticed a sparkling from the ground a few paces off. I jumped down to inspect it when Madison walked over. “Hey, Madison… come look at this! This is amazing!” I said, pointing at the flowers on the ground. The colors laced in a giant patchwork design, but the flowers weren’t even ordinary. They sparkled from the morning dew, but the flowers were crystals. I followed the border of the quilt, careful not to step on any of the crystal flowers. I climbed over the fence. Madison, right behind me, collapsed when she reached it. “So.. tired…” She grumbled. A few paces off was a white altar, with a white light shining down on it. I slowly padded up there and looked at it. Madison, standing beside me, also looked down at it. There were two necklaces, laying there, colored blue and green. I picked up the blue one and slipped it on. Madison did the same with hers. Instantly we were transferred in front of a castle. Angel and Petal were nowhere to be seen. “Hey, Madison, think we should go inside?” I said, looking around. Madison nodded at me and stepped inside the castle, “Here goes nothing.” She mumbled. I padded through the open doorway. Instantly I felt a change in pressure, or something.. I glanced back. The outside world wasn’t moving at all. The grass wasn’t swaying… the water was still. “Frozen in time?” I mumbled, not sure of what to make of this place. We reached a giant archway with another door. Madison stepped through first, and I saw her on the other side. She was wearing a green dress with a silver crown in her hair. I gasped, and she looked at me like I was crazy, until she looked down. “What!? What the heck am I wearing?!” She said, cursing. I chuckled and walked through. Sitting in the ballroom were 3 other people, 2 girls and a boy, dressed up in outfits similar to our own. “They’re here!” I heard the guy whisper to his friends. I looked around confused. There weren’t any other people in the ballroom but us- he had to be talking about us. I noticed the guy wearing an orange necklace- the girl wearing a yellow- and another girl wearing red. They were identical to Madison’s and my necklaces. “Um, Hi.” I said to the group of three. Madison looked confused, then her eyes opened wide. “I’m confused. What would they want us for?” she whispered to me. A booming voice came from the hallway, “5 KIDS SHALL MEET AS ONE, TO UNRAVEL THE DAMAGE THAT HAS BEEN DONE. DURING THE JOURNEY, TWO MORE SHALL BE FOUND. 7 NECKLACES SHALL JOIN TOGETHER, TO DEFEAT THE POWER OF THE DARK FOREVER.THROUGH THE POWER OF THE RAINBOW, THE WORLD SHALL BE SAVED. IN EQUAL AND DOUBT, A PRICE WILL BE PAID. ” The booming voice stopped and all was as before. I shuddered. I’d read enough fairy tales to understand what just happened. “A Prophecy...” I shuddered. The Orange kid walked over to me. “Hey, I’m Kyle.” The boy said, “This is Katie,” He pointed to the girl with a red necklace, the other girl stood up. “I’m Jessica.” She said, frowning at a rip on her dress. None of them really looked alike or related. “ I’m Jennifer.” I said to them, “And this, is Madison.” “Blue and Green, huh?” Kyle said grinning. Katie put her hand to her face and said, “No duh Kyle.” “How… long have you guys been here?” I asked. “Oh, well, we all actually just got here…” Jessica mumbled. “Cool, so we’re all on the same page.” Madison said, sitting down. “So um.. We’ve obviously got some of the prophecy fulfilled…” I started saying, sitting down and taking off the stupid crown on my head. “Can we like, go soon?” Madison asked, impatient to get out of her dress. “Oh, sure.” Kyle walked toward the door. We all followed him. He obviously took leadership in the group. As soon as we walked out of the door, our clothes all changed back to normal. “Thank god.” Madison said, slipping her sweatshirt on. “That dress was itchy.” Chuckling, Katie stuck her crown in her pocket, and I saw Jessica do the same. I reached up and realized mine was on –again- too. I stuck mine in my bag and wondered why we even had them still. “More questions to ask, not enough time.” I thought, walking with everyone else when we reached a little clearing. “We’ll stop here for the night.” “But, erm, we just started walking.” Madison mumbled, then got really quiet, “And I’m not tired.” Katie stepped in. “Where exactly are we going?” Kyle repeated the prophecy, “We have to unravel the damage that has been done, no? We need to fine Moonshine, the queen of the unicorns.” “But... Weren’t we just in her castle?” I prompted him. Kyle was stumped. “Well, I guess…” Right on cue, I heard hooves approaching, and turned around to find a unicorn approaching. I was surprised to find that Moon-shine was not a horse, or the ruler of the unicorns. A little girl, who HAD to be 10 or 11, was sitting atop the unicorn I had mistaken to be Moon-shine. The little girl’s name was Moon, and she preferred not having the “shine” part. Moon had a crown on her head, a big purple ball gown, and oddly enough, she was wearing a purple necklace- an exact replica of ours. “Hey everyone.” Moon said, tired, and obviously falling asleep standing there. Katie ran over to her and picked her up and carried her to her sleeping bag. “We’re gonna need another sleeping bag,” Katie said. The unicorn came over and said, “Oh, Is that so?” He turned around to reveal the stuff she had been carring with her. “Ah, cool.” Katie said, snatching the stuff off the horse. “Hold that thought!!” I shouted, seeing a huge black thing coming from the sky. I glanced around nervously. “Uh, I think we have a problem.” I was surprised to find Jessica was the one who said this. She had defiantly not spoken much to me the whole time. Jumping up from her sleeping bag, she pointed at the sky and yelled something like, “LIGHT!” When Kyle heard her, he leapt up and started humming a song. “Okay, SOMEONE tell me what’s going on!” A confused Madison asked. “Um, I’m with you Maddie…” I shook my head. The dragon was literally a few meters away now. We tensed. Moon lept up off the ground and held out her palms, creating some awesome purple sphere. “BE GONE FELINOR.” Moon shouted, throwing the sphere at the dragon’s body. “Ah, Moon of the Shine family.” Moon winced hearing her last name, “You are protecting these humans now?” Moon scoffed, “I’m a human too you know. We stand together, to defeat YOU forever!!” Moon shouted at him again, narrowing her eyes into slits. “But hah… You are still missing one, you cannot defeat me yet!” Felinor said calmly, landing on the ground in front of us. A woman padded up from the back of us. “Be gone Felinor! This is not your place to meddle with them.” the woman, who had blue hair and green eyes with a long, flowing dress said. “Oh, Alexandria, It’s good to see you.” Felinor said, with a dragon like grin. “Shut up. I know you do not desire to see me at all.” She said, madly. I noticed her eyes were more of a red color than the green they were originally, “The Nymphs have no business with you, nor do I.” Felinor slit his eyes. Just then, I realized that we had been standing there totally silent, not saying anything. I opened my mouth to speak, but before I could get a word out, “Silence child. This is no matter of yours.” “Actually, It is.” Moon spoke for me. She nodded at us to speak. Felinor, angry again, snorted. Jessica pointed at the ground in front of him and whispered, “lightning!” A bolt of lightning struck the ground. I shook my head, amazed. Katie and Kyle were doing oddly the same thing. Katie made a circle with her finger and shouted, “FIRE!” A circle of fire surrounded him. “Well well, aren’t you clever young humans.” Felinor snickered, then flying up out of the ring of fire. "You haven't seen the last of me!!" He yelled. The six of us, tired, and completely exhausted now, collapsed on our sleeping bags. Alexandria let out a sigh of relief and laid down on the ground next to us.
