Who said you had to? I still use my old DS (that does, in fact, have a broken hinge), and I use it for Trading, GBA, and Migrating. And who knows, maybe they will bring back the slot. What about DSi Ware? Are the new games going to be compatible with the DS/DSlite/DSi?
