  1. Ah, I misunderstood. My apologies. Agreed, this is actually making me more eager to find out what they do as far as maps and soundtracks go. Metal covers of Id (Purpose) or Don't Speak Her Name? Why not; sky's the limit for now
  2. I've actually not heard a single person bring up the fact they confirmed the Weapon Triangle; that's actually a pleasant surprise for me since I was convinced they'd stick to elemental triangles and the like for balance.
  3. The iconic, the 'Revival' and the most recent. Seems like a solid enough pool. Improving the chance's of Walhart's inclusion is nothing less than a total victory. Seeing as how the three games they have listed have rosters of at least thirty playable characters a piece, they could make it an even split plus a handful of Donut Steels and call it a day. Same here. I know dissapointment is high on the list, but it does bemuse me that people's expectations are being so cruelly dashed by reality. If it's not gotten an international release, it's got no chance. All your predictions seem logical and sound, and I'd imagine Alm/Celica and a third (perhaps a villain like Desaix or Jedah) squaring off for post-launch DLC. Actually, make that 3rd pick Nuibaba becasue reasoons... Nuance is a lost art. Nothing unfortunate about it; it's just buisness. Designs are okay; kind of remind me of something with blonde twins that I can't recall exactly (both had sword/shields and were in a fighting game). I'm sure people will still be wanting a roster of perfectly distinct snowflakes rather than admit that skins and copies are the only way any character that's not A: a Lord,B: popular, or C: outlandish, is going to make it in...
  4. Au contraire, it makes the pairing even more feasible in this series. As if making two characters related has stopped shippers before (something, something, kid with an alien watch and his cousin...) Let me keep that in mind; I'm sure there's one cooking up somewhere on the internet. Just the other day I finally found one for Gunther x Lady Corrin; took me longer than I expected quite frankly. A perfectly reasonable stance. It works wonders for the likes of Lucina x Owain, Corrin x any member of the royal family, the 'Resurrection' King and Queen; the list goes on really. I'm usually very 'meh' oh ships regardless if they're straight or gay. That said, it is rather...fascinating, to watch how fetishistic a slash pairing is treated especially if the author is any brand of 'snowflake-kin/sexual'. You've not been looking recently then; Palmer x Sangheli poet, Cortana x 343 Guilty Spark, Cortana x Roland, Cortana x Gravemind (exactly what you think it is), Anders x Forge, John x Linda/Kelly, Avery x Miranda. And that's avoiding wierd/crossover ships like Arbiter x Sakura (yes, from Naruto). But it's funny that you seem to think that Fire Emblem hasn't had shipping wars pre-Revival; I thin the first time I heard of Lyndis was in a debate of if she picked Hector or Eliwood... You know I can't help but feel like a lot of the back-and-forths in this topic are resolved if you consider Alm and Celica inviting any of their friends and their partners to their chambers for 'diplomatic' negotiations. I mean, if people can construe a night of drinking and reminiscing to be code for gay sex, surely we can stretch our horizons a little further, hm?
  5. What I'd actually like is to have some variation based on the host army; like a berserker from one kingdom could look different from another kingdom's. As for how that translates to design, I feel the easiest solution is to allow some customization for characters outside the MU; want the mages to have a hat, bam. want the usually-armored knights to be riding in battle thongs (with slight buldge for the gents)? done. Being serious though, If they want fanservice, make it equal. Balance your shapely riders with exposed tits with shirtless cavaliers with sharply-defined pecs. Want to have mages with thongs, make it apply to both genders. I don't buy the argument of titillation vs. power fantasy; the execution is the same, and anyone trying to make that argument that there's a difference between male flesh and female flesh are just making excuses...
  6. I tend to agree; Fire Emblem is THE turn-based tactic game in Nintendo's core family (Pokémon, while being more prominent, isn't necessarily 'in-house' as much as console exclusive). While Nintendo does currently have a RTS-lite series in the form of Pikmin, I don't think Fire Emblem needs to make a mainline game using those elements. a spin-off sounds compelling; more-so than the current 'Warriors' game they have planned, but its not what I want to see as a main release. That said, I don't think the cost of development for the Switch is QUITE the detrimental factor you're implying, Arvin. Making things from scratch? Yeah that would be pretty costly all things considered. However, if they used assets from the 3DS releases with new textures, a higher degree of smoothing, and perhaps a new rig set, they'd have a pretty solid baseline to build off of. Ultimately I'm in the camp that doesn't want it to happen, but can see a way they could make it.
  7. So an interactive character creator in regards to your options? Sounds like a solid idea, if somewhat reminiscent of the Elder Scrolls perpetual 'wake up in jail/about to be executed' schtick. Perhaps your 'bane' could ultimately be whatever trait was most affected in a negative way (hit the most with magic attacks = low res).
  8. I never said it's been done; just that it's an option. I guess we'll just have to see, although speaking personally I think it'd be ultimately a waste of potential characters to stick with such an idea. I haven't really played any Musou games outside Zelda and one of the Gundam ones, but to be blunt, Fire Emblem is probably one of the worst choices for this as far as making weapon sets goes. If you consider the primary forms of weapons in the series, you're only looking at about 9 characters unless they start doing hair-splits like different Anima Mages. Rather than having to pick a limited handful out of the entire series to represent thier class, I think there's more sense to be made in utilizing the cloning method, if only so that as many games as possible could have representation. Going by snowflakes, I wouldn't be holding your breath for a Dark Mage that isn't Tharja, nor an archer that wouldn't be Takumi. Why? because the new fans KNOW those characters and would have incentive to get the game knowing those two (among others) are in the game. But permit me to expand on one of my statement regarding animation POOLS; a set of attacks that could flow into each other or be slightly modified by 'slotting' together (Move pool A to B, or pool 3 to 4). So one character could have a moveset of animations that goes A1, B1, C1, D1, E1 (wherein the bolded represents what slots into the next attack), while another would instead have A1, B1, C4, D2, E1 with a larger hitbox and shorter range compared to the former character. Or another example of A1, A2, B4, C5, C6. As far as gameplay goes, what's the difference between Cain and Abel, Alen and Lance, Alec and Naoise, or Sully and Stahl? What about Jaegen, Fredrick, Peri(Birthright), Gunther, or Dussel? For a series that allows characters to change classes as they get stronger, it seems kind of limiting to instead keep them restricted to a single class wherein they'll have stiff competition to get that coveted 'Great Knight character' spot. If they kept the gameplay for the most part homoginized and instead focused on giving each character 'skin' a unique voice, dialogue, and interactions, it would be doing more to honor the characters than just having a single person be 'THE Cavalier'. I am trying to perceive this game based on my (VERY) limited knowledge from Hyrule Warriors. I understand that is far from a conventional Musou game, but I feel like Fire Emblem Warriors will be taking inspiration from Hyrule rather than the baseline Musou series. the way I see it, having characters that are interchangable would factor in quite well from the standpoint of filling out allied captains beyond generic 'Swordsman or General'. Instead of being told "Paladin is in Danger!", you'd instead be prompted that "Camus is in Danger!", "Titania is in Danger!", etc.
  9. Hmn, if the 'leak' about two warring kingdoms is true, I'd actually put it at about 4-5 OC characters, not counting any entries from Heroes (to be honest, I could see the Heroes characters being brought in as post-release DLC); at least enough to cover the Weapon Triangle, plus a magic user and an archer/ranged weapon type. Let's put it at about the same as Heroes; two good, two bad, one 'other' that may or may not be integral to the plot... SPeaking on that, if this is their way to legitimize Breidablik into the series, I'd be pretty okay with that. It's going to favor females and males that have any sort of major following; Niles is a pretty solid bet I'd say, same with any guys that might have scored high on any of the polls. As for who will get majority, It depends on how they end up implementing the character/moveset rosters... Hoh, time to be petty I guess... Impa - a character since Zelda 2 that has NEVER shown feelings for Link Agitha - a young girl that's too wrapped up in her own world to think about Link as more than 'the bug chauffeur'. Fi - a servant of the Goddesses that at MOST sees Link as a partner by the end of their game. Linkle - A stupid entry meant to appease nutters A farm girl that's too wrapped up in her own raving delusions quest to be the Legendary Hero to even know who Link is. Tetra - At most shows a camaraderie towards Link. Medli - more focused on her roles as Valoo's attendant/Earth Sage and never shows any feelings for Link So that leaves Zelda, two OCs (that really count more as a single person), Ruto, Midna (both forms, one character), Toon Zelda, and MAYBE Marin (Sheik doesn't count due to only being a disguise) that have feelings for Link. Unlike what Breath of the Wild (hilariously) entails, not every character, female or otherwise, is looking to jump Link's bones or pining for his Master Sword, unless you start trying to apply fan theories or wild assumptions...
  10. If they stick with a class>character setup wherein only certain prominent characters get a thematic moveset and others get a streamlined variation (say the difference between Takumi as an archer and another, lesser character), there's only really two limitations; how many character models they are willing to make, and possibly how many VAs they're willing to hire/rehire if they have more than just grunts. the streamlined characters could all use the same animation pools with different factors meant to set them apart, thus filling up the roster with tons of identifiable characters for a fraction of the workload.
  11. I'll give them credit; they're pulling off the 'military narrator' LEAGUES better than their short-lived Tank Troopers videos... talk about a game with no staying power.
  12. The issue with that is that most of the footage was beat-for-beat what the Japanese trailer had, minus a few exceptions like the obvious body swap or using a spell that's usually not accessible. It would reflect poorly if this was a case of 'didn't care' considering how Fire Emblem has been raised up to about the same tier as Mario and Zelda. Besides that, the game should very well be done with translation and purely on the debugging phase for localized release seeing how it launches in a month...
  13. I’ve had an idea that’s been polished up a bit but still pretty open all things considered. The map is a village/city that’s been under siege; the capital of the Lord’s land. following an earlier assault on their castle, the entire city is being evacuated. your objective is to make sure that the villagers/non-combatants are safely evacuated before your army needs to leave. On their own the villagers can and will move in a manner that ensures they won’t be attacked within two turns. However, there’s a way to speed up their escape by having your units pair up with the villager, allowing you to directly move them with the expanded reach, but at the cost of your unit’s combat ability. the map will end after a certain number of turns following the evacuation of the last villager, and any units that are A; alone, or B; trapped behind an enemy, are captured and taken out of the party. However, units that are at the gates, or are within movement distance of an ally unit, will escape to safety. Additional challenges will include strong knights/generals that slowly close in from the direction of the castle, ranged units that slowly make their way across the upper ramparts and start taking shots from afar, and general environmental damages like fires collapsing buildings, pathways being blocked or cleared, and a damn bursting and flooding a portion of the city. Of course there’d be looters trying to take any treasure they could find, giving incentive to decide if the reward is worth the risk.
  14. I wouldn't say it's unnoticeable; it's actually quite striking if you know how clothes interact with anatomy, even baggy clothes. That said, I do agree that it likely isn't the case; just presenting a new angle for speculation's sake.
  15. Didn't seem too bad; the awakening/fates jab was probably the worst, but so far no stupid comments about racial superiority or anything regarding politics; THAT to me is when the volatility reaches critical mass. As for the whole Sage!Silque mixup, KingMarth's pictures have made me hypothesize a less-likely yet still viable angle; what if they wanted to show Silque, but DIDN'T want to show her in her generic garb? Without bringing any extra baggage, the camera angle of her design gives her the illusion of having quite the...robust figure, as it were. With how bleach-happy Nintendo has shown to be with these games to avoid controversy (not that they've done anything more than a crap job at doing so), it wouldn't surprise me if someone in the localization pipeline (or even in marketing) had a twitchy trigger finger and demanded a quick visual change. Just a musing of course; I doubt this kind of a mixup would be in the gold release copy.
  16. Well now I'm wondering how they're going to change her for the localization (since that seems to be inevitable quite frankly; as soon as some game bloggers journalists or critics catch wind of this and raise a stint, it's as good as done...). I'm kind of hoping it will be a simple thing like having her decide that she wants her small life and gets over Alm, but promises that she'll be ready to join his side if he needs her in the future. Something that leaves things open to interpretation or with the vague promise that she'll grow after the game and won't just go home to slap laundry against rocks...
  17. I don't think Walhart was ever implied to be related to Alm (and Celica); just a man who was deeply inspired by Alm's image. So really it's more of a clash of ideals rather than descendants.
  18. I do like the music I'm hearing, but I'll miss having seamless variants between map and combat (would've been neat to have also had the healing tune blend in, but that might be too much work from a composition standpoint).
  19. Ignoring that time travel and dimension hopping were key to Awakening and to an extent, Fates, I don't really see how that negates it. Hell, I'm one of those people that would actually be kind of interested in having some side content that deals with Walhart interacting with Alm and Celica, and THAT'S not going to happen with Out/Deeprealm shenanigans. Like I said, it's not the outcome I'd prefer, just one I'm keeping open...
  20. Well good to know when the timing to stop trusting sources from Japan is I suppose...
  21. So here's an interesting thought; what if this is a character we've already seen from Awakening? If/Fates had the inclusion of the three most popular children from Awakening, who's to say that they won't sprinkle in a few more for these new slots? It's a bit of a stretch, but this Masked Knight could very well be Gerome (Masked Rider) being given a different hair color a la Inigo with a slightly less conspicuous design this time around. I don't think they'd be able to get away with having identical characters across games turn out to be the same people again from a 'le gasp, twist' standpoint again; need to get more creative this time. Not saying I particularly want this outcome, but it's a possible avenue, especially if there turns out to be another new character on Alm's side that has a passing resemblence to any of the other Awakening kids (perhapse Noire or Laurent?)...
  22. I'd get an honest chuckle if they tried to tackle Norse and Japanese stuff in addition to the usual european flair, mostly for the reactions it would inspire of ripping off For Honor.... But seriously; Viking it up.
  23. Ah, I must've forgotten that one. Thanks for clarifying.
  24. So I was re-watching the NA Direct portion on Fates and it mentioned a DLC map I can't quite place; something about choosing a royal to go rescue an alternate Corrin? The only mission I remember having you play as a royal was the beach one that had artwork at the end and some dialogue between retainers. Does this mean that rather than doctor the pictures (which I believe hacking has already confirmed are not edited), they elected to flat-out CHANGE that mission and most likely drop the entire beach premises (and reward images) entirely?
  25. I've not seen any yet. Actually I've seen more people lamenting how they're 'outliers' because they like the change and mocking people for trying to question them about it...
