  1. Hey guys, I was wondering if someone could explain the "wait trick" further to me. So people have told me that waiting is better than attacking in certain circumstances. A kind, helpful person explained it to me this way: Imagine you and them have 10 hp each and both can do 5 damage to each other. You attack first; you do 5 damage, take 5 damage, then they attack, doing five damage and you're dead. Let them attack first, they do 5 damage, you take 5 damage, then you attack, doing five damage and they're dead. However, I never seem to notice the opportunities to use this. Is the wait trick only useful when you're both at low health (or have low def and are capable of dying) like in the example above? Or are there other instances where it's good to utilize? Can someone break it down so a dullard like me can understand? Thanks.
  2. Guys lately something has been bothering me and getting in the way of my enjoyment of the games because of my obsessive compulsive disorder, and I just wanted to do a little survey on here to see if I'm overthinking the game. How often do you actually study or just look at your stats? When I play I tend to just glance at them on occasion and it makes me feel like I'm playing the game wrong because everyone else seems obsessed with their unit's/the enemy's stats.
  3. When should I use pair up in Fates? I used it all the time in Awakening (like everyone else) but now it seems really situational. However, any time I watch someone else play, they seem to be using it most of the time still. What's the strategy behind the nerfed pair up?
  4. I know, I know, kind of a boring topic. I've narrowed it down to these two, but I having a lot of trouble deciding who to pick. Hana seems really cool, but according to some people there are some supports that indicate she's not really a good person? On the other hand, Setsuna seems pretty based, but let's face it, she's dumb. Who should I pick y'all
  5. Sup guys. I was wondering how many of you actively use formulas when you play, for instance, subtracting DEF/RES from ATK to check damage that might be done when you can't see the battle forecast. Or do you wing it? For the record I like to play riskier and go off of hunches.
  6. Hey guys, had a question about Lissa and Maribelle in the early(ish) game, before they can be promoted, and that is how often do you pair them up? For instance, I like Gaius and Lissa as a couple, but the problem is that I like Gaius to get a lot of action and Lissa to get dat experience, and with them paired up all the time (which I like to do with most of my units, particularly the married ones), one is going to be left out. Should I just try to keep alternating them frequently, or should I split them up? Will they still get a lot of support side by side? I'd like to do it in a way where I won't have to grind much later. Thanks. Edit: I should probably add that this question also applies to Olivia as a dancer
  7. Everybody acts like normal is so ridiculously braindead easy, but I find it to be the right amount of challenge for the way I play in Awakening (leveling characters very evenly, and only using characters I like), and I plan on doing the same for Fates. It's frustrating because Awakening is one of my favorite games of all time but I get crap from the community (not Serenes, I haven't been here long enough lol) for liking the easier mode for my playthroughs. And I'm not new to the series either, I've been playing since FE7, but Awakening's hard mode (and god forbid lunatic) is too rough for me personally. Anybody else most comfortable playing in normal mode?
  8. Alabamy If I had to choose one word to describe the essence of this state, it would be FOOTBAWL
  9. Even though this isn't related to III, I just wanted to say that I love II, I feel like it gets a bad rap. It's far from perfect imo, but playing it for the first time and nearing endgame (I only do PvE, and decided to go with a STR-based tank just to mix it up from how I played 1), I think it's been amazing. I definitely like it aesthetically more than 1, and even though I think the area design was better in 1, there's still some really genius design in II. The core gameplay/combat is better as well, I think.
  10. Hello Deviddo, thanks for the reply. I like playing Coheed and Cambria songs the most, since they're my favorite band. They have very fun guitar parts in their songs. My favorite to play...maybe A Favor House Atlantic? That's a blast to play. I love a lot of Japanese music as well. Ever heard of The Band Apart? I like to rep them since they're not super well-known. Check em out if you like alternative/indie rock. Bump of Chicken is another favorite, and a TON of j-pop singers.
  11. Thank you for the welcome Jedi, I appreciate it! And yeah I am a pretty big fan of Eva, even though my pic is a goof lol
  12. Hey everyone, been contemplating joining this forum for quite some time, finally got around to it! I like the FE, I like the music (I'm a guitar player), and I like the Japan. I hope to make some good friends here!
