i wanna say "looks neat" bbut it actually looks pretty ugly, to be honest. still, looking forward to it. love that Kaga. if i can find the time (and motivation) i'll try translating it, but i can't make any guarantees. i'll at least try to translate the menus and stuff if no one else will. hopefully we'll be able to actually put the translation into the game

it'll take a while but i'll at least try to put together a (very) rough translation as i play, if only so i can understand it myself. if no one else does it better i'll do what i can (which isn't much but at least it's something) at the very least i can try to whip up a menu guide so you can still make your way around the game

Shadow Dragon... back in 2008-2009 i got Advance Wars Dual Strike and fell in love with it, when i heard Fire Emblem was a similar series made by the same people i needed to get in on that ASAP so i went and got Shadow Dragon. it took me like, three and a half years to actually beat it, though

it kind of makes me feel like a terrible person but my favorite mechanic is actually dismounting entirely because it just makes sense. there's no room for horses and pegasuseseses and dragons flyin' around indoors! can horses even climb stairs? i don't know! having to get off your mount to go inside makes sense and it's neat. i wish they'd bring it back, i'm sure they could make it work somehow. honorable mention to fatigue, to be honest. it adds to Thracia 776's atmosphere, with all the characters who get worn out and with Leif, who's forced to tough it out and keep going. least favorite is definitely the avatar, at least with IS's current writing ability. dishonorable mention to marriage and children in Awakening and Fates. it worked in Genealogy because practically the entire game and story were built around it but now it's clearly just for that cheap dating sim-like appeal

i'm not too good at expressing my opinions, i can't quite put into words why the story and characters stick out to me more than the other GBA games, but they do. gameplay-wise, though... to me it actually feels like it was trying to do something. sure it wasn't perfect, and it didn't exactly do anything new, but it did more than the previous two. Binding Blade and Fire Emblem felt too bland to me. they just have the most basic design in the series - they do pretty much nothing that most of the other games don't, but Sacred Stones brings back the world map, branching promotions, and skills (even if they were so limited), and it has its split story paths - it feels like they tried more than with the previous two, and i like that. but then again i specialize in the first 5 games so i may be missing some things from 6 and 7. honestly they just don't interest me as much as Sacred Stones. it's far from perfect but just barely does things right enough to keep my attention. (disclaimer: my idea of "right" is heavily influenced by my opinions on shouzou kaga so if you're sick of hearing about him then forget everything i said)

honestly it's so incredibly unimportant that i'm more upset that people make such a big deal out of it. i mean i kind of really hate the fact that it was in the game in the first place but in the end it doesn't matter. it doesn't matter at all. it's optional, it adds nothing to the game but some cheap wish-fulfillment to the people who want it, and it takes nothing from the people who don't want it. it doesn't matter at all. i wouldn't care less if it was left in or removed, because i would have just ignored it what really gets to me about this is people who say they wouldn't have used it but are still upset that they're getting "less" than the japanese version because it's just so inconsequential, it just. it just doesn't matter. at all. it adds nothing, it takes nothing. it doesn't matter. it. doesn't. matter. and i'm sick of people complaining about "censorship" too. i swear everyone on the internet acts like the colloquial use of the word "censorship" - voluntarily making something deemed inappropriate less inappropriate - is the same as/just as bad as the legal use of the word - the government telling you what you can and can't say. no one's infringing on your rights by not letting you pet your anime characters. this was just a business decision probably made to broaden appeal to people who think that stuff's gross. if you want it so bad go play senran kagura or something, those games have that, right? fire emblem doesn't need it. i could go on about what localization means and why complaining about most changes is idiotic but that'd be getting off topic (and i suppose it's worth saying i do understand why people who were looking forward to it are upset but as someone who wasn't i just couldn't care less) tl;dr the removal of the feature itself doesn't bother me but peoples' reactions to it sure do
