I tend to do no DLC Lunatic runs. He has terrible bases and can't go melee when possible. Even when I used him once with Sully, his speed was forever ass. His main use is early game chip damage and even Ricken may actually be better than him on that.

So I watched @Kuroi Tsubasa Tenshi using Virion and Rickey in Lunatic+ on Twitch the other day. I thought I should use them and some other characters I rarely use.
Other than them, I rarely use Vaike and Kellam as well, both times just as (terribly raised) fathers. Funny enough, both for Nah.
So! Imma not only use them in Lunatic, but I will raise them to kick Grima's butt!
Though, I do want to ask. Should I really use all 4 of them? Will there be room??? I plan on playing as a male Avatar to marry Lissa, while I plan on Chrom marrying Maribelle.

Must have been tedious. Unless you plan on tackling hard DLC maps, you don't need Gladforce on everyone.

20 uses of Nosferatu is only 280 gold more than 25 javelins. It also tends to kill garbage RES mooks AND gives you back health. It IS cheap and efficient, hence why it's noted to be one of the fastest and reliable ways to finish all but Lunatic+.

My favorite thing about Lunatic and Lunatic+ is that you can't grind using the Reeking Boxes, so DLC is your only option.
No DLC Lunatic/+ is already a good enough challenge to start with.
Other rules you can add are:
-No self healing stuff like Nosferatu and Sol.
-No Bonus Box shopping.
-No Anna shopping.
-Renown to a certain level. (1000 Renown is a common level to use up to.)
-Full deployment. (This is a fun rule to follow actually.)
-Use Donnel on a team (if on Lunatic or Lunatic+). For even more masochism, SS him to a Fighter instead of a Merc.
-No Second Seals.
-No Avatar.

Since I just like to play through the story in Lunatic mode, Olivia sometimes gets paired off to Libra. I want to try to see if I can hitch her with Freddy one run.

One thing I noticed is that 2nd gen couples are referred as boyfriends/girlfriends instead of husbands/wives.

Definitely Apotheosis, the strongest map!
For DLC classes and skills that'll be fun and/or useful especially in that map are: Champions of Yore 3 with +2 All Stats skill, Lost Bloodline 2 for Dread Fighter class, Smash Brethren 2 for the Bride class, and of course, Rogues and Redeemers 3 for Limit Break! None of them are needed to beat Apotheosis, though.

If you want to marry Cherche, that's fine. But you did mention you wanted to optimize your ingame team, hence why I made the suggestions.

Cordelia would be a better wife for MaMU than Cherche. Lucina is pretty good too, but it will be a while before you get Morgan.

I recommend to do Chrom/Sumia and MaMU/Cordelia. If you won't do quad Gladforce passdown, you can add Gregor/Miriel. Maybe marry Lissa off to Libra (through healing/Rescuing each other) as well. Ricken may be a better husband for Lissa than Libra, but he's hella hard to train and needs at least 10 levels before he can use Staves on Lissa. He'll take away exp that will be good for everyone else. Libra doesn't need combat exp.
As a bonus, all couples mentioned above produce good, if not great, kids to take postgame.
If grinding on DLC, Lucina is a better choice than Cherche. Save that Seed of Trust from Renown to get the Robcina train goin'!
Either way, Chrom should definitely marry Sumia.

So I'm gonna go into this no DLC run with 4000 Renown and with as much resources as I can as possible.
I want to see what is needed to make the guys useful!
-Virion is pairing with Panne.
-Vaike with Cordelia.
-Kellam with Sully.
-Ricken with Olivia or Maribelle.
