  1. I haven't read too much into Corrin for spoilers' sake, but from what I know thus far I prefer Robin.

I liked that, aside from the sudden reveal near the end, Robin themself wasn't really all that relevant to the plot; it was Chrom's story, and Robin was just a viewpoint character like Ishmael. Being a relatively humble tactician and advisor is, to me, a much more relatable avatar character than being an adored-by-everyone super dragon royal prince(ss) with a chainsaw-sword thing.

  2. Least favorite maps, huh?

Paralogue 3 is up there; suicidal villagers, and I feel like there's little incentive to even play the level beyond some experience points.

Chapter 19 isn't terrible, but I feel like there's just too many enemies rushing you all at once.

Chapter 21 isn't too hard, but I hate feeling rushed by the Mire Sorcerors in the woodwork. 18 also rushes you, but at least it's a cool aesthetic and the boss is interesting.

Chapter 24 for not only being a boring filler level, but being stuffed to the brim with forests.

Chapter 25 also has some issues, since by that point I just want to slay Grima and be done with the run, but 25 is long and filled with about twenty trigintillion reinforcements. But the map design is fine.

But as for my favorites... I do like 10 and 11. The maps themselves are nothing special, but the former is surprisingly poignant especially with the somber music playing the whole time, and the latter is a really good "final battle" against Gangrel and an excellent way to wrap up the first story arc.

Noire's Paralogue is interesting simply because I find it funny how the best strategy is to lock yourself away in Noire's cell and turn it from a prison to a fortress. That's just a funny concept to me. Laurent's is also cool what with the whole mirage village, though all the sand is annoying.

  3. Thanks all.

I do technically own Sacred Stones through the 3DS Ambassador Program, so I might give it a whirl if I'm bored one day, but like I said the lack of quality-of-life features is a bit of a turnoff for me.

As for the trailer, I knew a few of my friends were fans of Awakening, and after the trailer I was intrigued and asked them how the game was, and they all recommended it to me. Now I'm trying to acquire a pre-order on the Special Edition of Fates, with no luck. I missed the window.

Any other important details I should share here?

  4. I'll admit to feeling a bit sheepish about that since from what I understand, people who only got in via Awakening (And late, at that) are generally looked down upon, but most of the FE fans I've talked with on other sites are pretty cool.

I've considered going back and playing some of the older ones to feel less out of the loop, but given how they're hard to get, often unavailable in English, and lack many quality-of-life features added by Awakening, I think I'll pass, and just move forward. I have familiarized myself with the characters and stories, though. Sigurd is a Lord who is permanently on fire, right?

  5. Hello all.

I'm an Awakening noob, saw the Robin/Lucina SSB4 announcement trailer back in summer of 2014, decided to see just what this Fire Emblem thing everyone was excited about was, and was immediately hooked. Bought all the DLC, played the story enough to complete the Support logbook, all that jazz. Now I'm on board the Fates hype train.

Other than that I guess there's not much else to say about me unless I'm forgetting something important, but hello nonetheless.

  6. Not at all. Fates only reads amiibos, it doesn't write to them.

I was able to scan a Shulk amiibo into Yoshi's Woolly World and unlock the costume even though I had used that same Shulk amiibo in Smash Bros.

On the subject of amiibos, I have my own question; I know the amiibo warriors can staff the shops in My Castle, but what else can they do there? I know they don't show up in the bathhouse and can't be invited into My Room, but can they staff/eat at the kitchen, or talk with other units?

  7. I doubt we'll get any significant changes in the international release beyond maybe a few reworked lines or minor censorship. But if I had a say in the matter...

    - Rework some of Soleil's and Eponine's Supports. The iffy ones that have already been complained about to death, you know what I'm talking about.

    - Maybe have a slightly less silly and kinda creepy excuse for the child characters than the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. Just have them hop on over from an outrealm, or something.

    - Make the amiibo units fully-realized characters; C-S supports with Corrin, reclass options, potential for My Room/Bathhouse/other My Castle features, ect. Perhaps also include a way for people who don't have the amiibos to get them, like Streetpass.

    - Make the incoming Roy amiibo compatible too. Maybe have the incoming Corrin amiibo do something too.

    - Remove the gender-locking on Ballistician, Witch, Lodestar, Vanguard, Grandmaster (Especially silly since female Robin was a thing), and Great Lord (Even more silly since "lord" implies male anyway).

    - Allow the player to get Kanna and Eponine even if they choose the same-sex marriage options.

    - Fix the issue where a male Corrin can't marry a first-gen woman without screwing himself out of one of the child characters. Possibly by just giving Anna, Crimson, or Flora some additional Supports. This one's my biggest gripe since it totally ruins my plans for Revelations.

    - Facial hair options for male Corrins. They've got that empty slot where female Corrins get hair accessories, might as well make use of it, and the game has a dearth of facial hair outside of Garon and Nacht. And Cervantes' moustache would be an option.

    - Easier way to do post-game grinding. Maybe a DLC map where the reward is like a super Eternal Seal that permanently sets your level cap to infinite so you don't have to seal up every five levels.

    ...

    - Make the Captain Falcon amiibo compatible, as a guest character. FALCON PUNCH!!
