most stats in heroes are reflected by their stats ingame, and girls are generally speedy in their respective games, while dudes are generally stronger and more durable. It's just reflected the same way here.

You absolutely need to count Leaf, even moreso than Eirika.
Leaf lost literally everything, his parents, his childhood, and for a long time his sister too, and as a result of the war, he was basically homeless. Not saying Eirika's situation doesn't fit the bill (it does), but Leaf's entire life was shaped by his losses. Not to mention other stuff happening like the kidnapping of Nanna/Marita, Eyval getting stoned, Dorias's death and sacrifice, and more. Eirika basically loses her dad and a friend, and her life isn't really shaped by it like Leaf; she's basically the same person before and after the war.

im about halfway there on the armours quest, i made an armour team as a joke earlier in the week with 2 dogas a wendy and a sheema, if I roll lots of axes the dogas faceroll with all the buffs.
Still it's pretty brutal. I gave Wendy smite from Bartre to make moving less annoying. -
Thany - Passable combat for about half the game, the early promotion suits her well and has no real competition for it because by the time Miledy (and I guess Tate) show up there will be another whip. He flight is more useful than her combat though. 8/10
Chad - Actually gets a lot of stuff before chest keys show up, although not a whole lot of it is particularly notable. More stuff and funds is always better though, 3.5/10.
Lugh - Accurate chip damage (unlike the archers, he has really good accuracy) is a big deal, especially in chapter 4/5. If you train him enough to get to promotion, he's pretty good too, sage promotion gains are very good for him (he really likes the +4 magic). Thanks to FE6's weapon exp though, he'll never be useful with staves, sadly, but he has more longterm use than any other 6 move combat unit since he's great against wyvern spam. 5.5/10.
Clarine - Mounted healer. Magic stat is pretty poor which hinders her longterm usefulness, but she basically has free deployment for a long time due to the sheer amount of bad units early on. Like already mentioned, promotion doesn't actually add a whole lot to her performance, but she might double some faster enemies with magic to do passable chip damage, and she still remains mobile. 7.5/10
Rutger - Delete button for the first half of the game thanks to his insane bases and the the crit bonus from swordmaster. Starts struggling a little bit later in the game, but can still contribute and double some faster enemies in Sacae that nobody else will be able to (if you go that route). Falls off pretty hard later on though since wyvern spam isn't too kind to him. Still a great contributor for ~80% of the game nets him a 9/10.

I honestly can't see how Roy isn't a 3. He has pea shooter offence for the first couple of maps with his 5 base strength (and can't switch to a lance like Lance for soldiers), and he has his moment of kill securing some half weakened cavaliers in chapter 4 which is pretty valuable, but beyond that what does he do? He soaks up exp in the isles because he's forced, but he's outclassed by 80% of the cast there too (his offence there is like Oujay tier and that's not an accomplisment), and he's a downright detriment (this is important) from Arcadia until he promotes, which is over a third of the game, and there isn't anything you can do about it since he's forced. The sword of seals is very good but only has 20 uses and Roy's 20/1 stats aren't great. His moment of glory is basically Jahn's map since he can kill manaketes from 2 range.
-
Just played through chapters 1-3 again now and turns out Ward actually does miss doubling some soldiers, so that does make him a lot worse than I thought, i've knocked him down to a 1. Lott certainly doesn't do well against other enemies though, I guess he can try to "help" but he 4HKO's lance wielding Cavaliers at poor hit (unless you gamble on the Halberd if you get it, which is probably a better option since its basically a 50/50). Ward at base miraculously isn't ORKO'd by any initial enemy in chapter 4 (unless the cavaliers can proc 11 strength but it seems unlikely) so Lott can take 1 extra round of combat against the cavaliers.
If Lott was on a horse his mediocre combat stats would be more passable for sure. Alan naturally gains exp faster than Lott too even in a casual pace. If Alan was a dismounted axe user he'd have a similar score to Lott, the class makes all the difference. The axebros are totally unusable against anything with a sword and don't have any option to increase their hit against other stuff like Archers or other axedudes until promotion. I'll play a bit more and see how they both do in the longer term.
All i'm trying to say is I don't think Ward is being underrated, he's definately a bad unit (but not Bors/Wolt level bad, come on) it's Lott being overrated. Lott being closer to the cavbros than Ward is just confusing. -
For the enemies that they should be fighting (soliders/knights etc) Ward has 75-80 hit. so its more like a 3-5% difference.
-
I didn't see this topic till now. I'll post my thoughts on the first group too, if you want more numbers.
Roy - Not gonna lie, I hate Roy and will probably rate him lower as a result. Can poke the sword cavs for extra damage in chapter 4 which is actually pretty helpful, and the western isles provide some breathing room to help him gain some levels since chapters ~5-8x aren't very kind to him. Eventually gets a good weapon lategame which is cool I guess, but he's deadweight for so long it doesn't make up for it. 2.5/10.Marcus - He's fantastic because he can either goon people with silver early on in a pinch, or soak up hits on the EP and leave enemies weak enough for your unpromoted units to secure exp. Serviceable unit until the second route split or so thanks to decent weapon ranks and good mobility. 9/10.
Alan/Lance - Typical earlygame cavalier. Both he and Lance struggle in the harder early maps, but at least they are mobile and not a liabilty (read: a lot of earlygame units). I think his strength lead on Lance is a little more important than the speed lead (especially since they'll both double in the isles and probably promote sometime during/after them and then both be fine statistically forever). You kind of have to use one or the other to use them to their full potential though. I'll give Alan an 8 and Lance a 7.5
Wolt - Bad bases, bad class, and not even above average growths. Somehow has more con than Roy. 0.5/10 for doing some meaty 4 damage chip earlygame.
Bors - How you have two units that join in chapter 1 and still manage to be ~bottom 5 in the game is astounding. Bors is helpless in combat during most of earlygame (except against like, soliders and he gets outdone by almost everyone there) and his bulk isn't even that great. Longterm potential is also pretty bad since his strength is pretty bad. I'll give him a 0.5/10 for existing early on and he can go off and get Lugh or something so a real unit can contribute to the actual chapter.
Ellen - Pinch healer early on, but the game throws 3 of them at you by chapter 6, and both the other two are better, Saul outclasses her statistically and by ~half a staff rank, and Clarine has both a movement and statistical advantage in everything but magic. If you do choose to use her longterm though, she's definately still a serviceable staffbot, but her paper defences and poor speed hold her back from doing much else, 4/10.
Dieck - I'm not sure if the community overrates or underrates him. He has an opportunity cost because of Hero Crest competition with Rutger, but he uses it very well and is able to do the bosskilling Rutger does with it anyway (albeit a little less reliably). His high skill let him use axes without missing all the time too. Even without the early crest, he's very good early on and movement isn't too much of an issue since you get lots of mounts with bad/average combat early that can move him around if need be. His lategame potential isn't terrible but his growths are a little shaky so he won't be the juggernaut he was in the first half of the game. 7.5/10.
Lott - He's ok at gooning soldiers early on, but his growths (other than his oddly high defence growth) are bad for a foot unit. Warrior have good promotion games (+8 HP!!!) but it's not enough to save him. He's still not going to be fast enough to double most enemies and the ones he manages to double might not even die due to his poor strength. 2.5/10.
Ward - Basically Lott but slower. I have no idea how Lott's getting +3/4 on Ward, they essentially serve the same purpose. Still doubles all earlygame soldiers and most knights at base speed, with higher strength. His bad hit is only 5 accuracy worse than Lott's at base and Lott has worse growths in skill and luck. Ward is very bad in chapter 4 though, as Lott avoids getting doubled and Ward gets doubled by about half the map, and that basically is what sets them apart imo. People thinking he's worse than Bors is just flat out wrong, imo.
EDIT: Ward sucks and can't actually double all the loldiers so knocked a point off. Still fights them reasonably well though 1/10. -
Corple - He's a huge loser. Can theoretically get inheritance but it's largely wasted on him. He at least has A Staves, so he can pick up any spare staves lying around (if there are any) and try to contribute and fail with 5 movement. 1.5 with a negative bias point because he has a lame haircut
Sharlow - Better than Corple, way more handsome and funny. Has elite and a good magic stat, pretty much all you could ask for on a latejoining staffbot, and gets the exclusive Berserk staff which instantly fixes his gold woes. 3 with a positive bias point because hes fat shota sigurd.
Leen - She's great, dancer in gen 2 is probably more useful than gen 1 since you have more competant units. 9/10
Laylea - Leen with a money problem but has charisma. Has a 50% str growth for some reason. 8.5/10.

The dancing rings are basically 3ds rallies on steriods. so one can say they're already back in a different way. (lesser effect in an AoE instead of a enormous effect one one unit).
They were neat for what they were in FE7, it was good they were on dancers since having someone be able to dance and take 10 less damage from everything would have been ridiculous. I don't really want them to come back though, at least not with the same effects. Filla's Might is one of if not the most broken item in the gba era, (especially in conjunction with Luna) and there's a reason a lot of bosses in FE7 are a joke, and Ninis Grace is also ridiculously strong. I personally prefer rallies and the aforementioned dancing skills (like Azura's +skill/speed/luck dance skill) to the rings. -
CHAPTER 26 - 11/135 TURNS
ZZZZZZZZZZ
CHAPTER 32 - 3/138 TURNS
Needed to be a bit creative since Florina did 4 damage to Limstella. Thankfully Eliwood did significantly more and I was able to warp him instead of Florina since Canas is really magic blessed. WIL REBECCA A SUPPORT WE DID IT BOYS. Wil also promoted with the earth seal.
CHAPTER 32X - 1/139 TURNS
My team is pretty anemic tbh. Warped Hawkeye to killer crit kishuna.
CHAPTER FINAL PART 1 - 2/141 TURNS
Needed Filla's might to take out Ursula on turn 1 with Brave Lance Marcus. Athos was needed to kill Darin, so Hawkeye swordslayer'd the Reed bros. Rebecca brave bow'd Uhai and had 34 crit thanks to WIL A SUPPORT. Eliwood killed Brendan and his goon and Canas warped Hector up to help Florina with Kenneth's room, then warped Athos to Nergal.
CHAPTER FINAL PART 2 - 1/142 TURNS
Athos killed the dragon.
TEAM ANALYSIS
Hector was pretty slow all game, but he still did his job alright.
After a really bad start, Eliwood turned things around in a big way. Too good in drafts to have free imo
Florina plz
She even promtoed at level 19 so it's not like she was even an early promotion. Lost 2 turns due to anemic strength or speed (the speed fixed itself a ton post promotion)
Wil's stats were SO BAD until level 15 or so where he rattled off like 4 6 statters in a row or something. Honestly forgot that there's only one Orion's Bolt that you can get in drafts, so he sat at level 20 unpromoted for like 10 chapters. Probably should have picked Jaffar, but honestly the difference was negligible, and then I wouldn't have got the amazing WIL X REBECCA A SUPPORT god there are really that many defence maps in this game.
Hawkeye saved a turn in chapter 25, which is basically why I picked him. Thanks bro. He turned out pretty well too I think.Marcus is still pretty great joining at the same time as Isadora, turns out. Saved a turn in 25 and would have saved one in 29 if Florina didnt blow chunks.
Rebecca turned out to be pretty useful. Did the Lloyd killing thing with the brave bow and had great stats to contribute in final. If she was a little less speed screwed could have even saved one more turn in Oleg's map. For an early game archer, actually has a lot of utility.
Oswin a cute rescue drop in chapter 14 but was otherwise pretty useless. Helped train Rebecca I guess since his speed was so bad. Could have picked someone else I think.
Canas turned out very well, thankfully. Did lategame warping and had generally good combat. Reached A Staves easily even without the torch staff or barrier staff, which is pretty funny.EDIT: For some reason the pictures didn't embed, I blame the awful new sf ui. Too lazy to recapture. Florina had 16 strength, fuck you Florina.

Shopping
-
Patty - Money isn't as important in gen 2 since you have everyone loaded with inheritence and such. More self sufficient than Dew at least since she can clear the arena (or at least get far). 3/10.
Daisy - totally useless at anything other than passing around money, which is a little more useful in subs runs. 2.5/10.
Faval - Kills things when he reaches them, but is a foot unit with no utilty or enemy phase, 2.5/10
Asaello - Basically Jamka without Continue in gen 2 with worse availability. So, one of the worst units in the game. 1/10
-
lets do this thing
CHAPTER 11 - 6/6 TURNS
I DID IT. Hector got a shin level.
CHAPTER 12 - 4/10 TURNS
Hector definately didnt have the like 15 speed he needs to double the boss but I had Oswin to help out so all was well. Rebecca + Eliwood barely managed to kill the bottom dudes in time, they're so bad.
CHAPTER 13 - 6/16 TURNS
Oswin dumped Hector on the river, Eliwood went for the village, and Rebecca stole Oswin's kills.
oops forgot 13x, I DID IT 7/23 TURNS
CHAPTER 14 - 6/29 TURNS
Eliwood (badly) handled the beach, his stats are awful. Oswin rescuedropped Hector ahead (lol) to get Erik out of the way. Rebecca got random kills. Didn't deploy Merlinus so he wouldn't aggro the soldiers.

CHAPTER 16 - 4/40 TURNS
Florina drop, Hector gooned most of the enemies then the boss.
Also got Wil.
CHAPTER 17 - 9/49 TURNS
Florina ferried Hector ahead where she could (which was not a whole lot). Hector with the hand axe left the boss with like 2 hp so after 4 attacks so Florina got to secure the boss with the heavy spear, which was nice. Her levels have been kinda bad though.
CHAPTER 17X - 3/52 TURNS
Florina flew to the boss reletively unharmed. Wil is shit again, notlikethisCHAPTER 18 - 3/55 TURNS
Florina got the bosskill.
CHAPTER 19 - 4/59 TURNS
Apparently there's a path to Uhai where only one nomad attacks Florina, and Hector killed it the next turn. Oswin killed Uhai with the silver lance, still unpromoted.
CHAPTER 19X - 4/63 TURNS
Florina got hit by bolting but still managed to survive turn 2 enemy phase because uh, the mages don't do any damage to her except the elfire guy. Hector ORKO'd Aion with the SIlver Axe while he still had Bolting equipped. Would have liked to give the kill to Florina, but she had to clear out a dude in his way first.

Yeah, put the .sav file in the same folder as the ROM, then just rename the .sav file (the file you downloaded) the same name as the rom. Just like this:
https://i.gyazo.com/a6725775b5c310906d18dcb29911f00a.png
Some versions of VBA have a different save type (you'll see your previous save in the folder) so you may need to change the file type to match (I think some vba's use .sa1 files instead of .sav files, so just right click the .sav file and rename it fe7.sav => fe7.sa1 or whatever filetype your emulator uses.
I don't think any versions of vba have a seperate saves folder, but if they do, put the save file in there instead. -
Ill give Arthur and 8.5. Even without Holsety he has great 1-2 range combat on a horse from chapter 8/9 onwards. He's ony of the few units that can keep up lategame, even without a holy weapon.
Tinny gets a 6.5 from me. She's a great user of status staves lategame, with decent combat.
Amid gets a 3.5 from me, with 0.5 bias because his face looks like a butt. His stats are actually really good but he doesn't have pursuit or a horse so he's pretty low on the rung for pursuit ring.
Linda gets a 6 from me. She's better than most Tinny's, but the best Tinny (Claude) is better than Linda. She has great skills, and can use Thoron at base. Like Tinny, good status staffbot

Yeah, his speed cap and growth were pretty mediocre though, and his strength growth was huge.
Whoever made Ephraim clearly didn't play 0% growthsEDIT: ayyyy turns out his speed growth is really good too Ephraim is fair and balanced. His cap still sucks though.
