  1. I only just noticed this:

    https://imgur.com/a/6KCPXdG

(If someone already pointed it out here, sorry :>_<:)

If it were any other game, it wouldn't mean much, but in a Fire Emblem game it would be incredibly misleading if it wasn't related to marriage or whatever, so I don't think they would do that unless it was specifically for the S support.

But then again, I have never had any doubt that the dynamic would be back in 3H. Still don't doubt it.

  2. Somehow I feel like this game if very different to the others? Something about the feel of it. It doesn't even feel to me like the first entries do. So I don't think they could include past characters into this one.

And... I don't want to see past characters drawn in this new style, they would look so... weird.

  3. Well, one of the basic rules of Fire Emblem says there must be a girl who is 'secretly' and obsessively in love with the lord or one of the lords of the game, without ever getting to marry them (although I guess Oboro broke that rule by being able to marry Takumi, but Oboro is best girl, so of course ❤️)

In this case, I'll take a guess and go with... Hilda with Claude. Or maybe they decide to change it now and this time it'll be someone like Bernadetta with Edelgard.

Also, that rule goes just after the 'There Must be Incest' one, and they can merge, such as is the case of Julia being in love with her half-brother, or Lachesis with Eldigan.

Honestly, with Fire Emblem, ships can be about anyone with anyone or anything, they don't care.

I hope you're right, because it would sure bug me when we walk around the school and I have to see the questionable haircut all the time. (Since we'll see the back of Byleth's head when we are running around doing stuff.)

Reference for anyone wondering what I'm referring to:

    avatar-1.jpg

Why is the middle strip cut in a weird spot? It all looks uneven and jagged. Her hairdresser jacked her hair up. I really hope we can customize appearance now, because I don't want to stick with that hairdo. Bring us back the tall female Robin hairstyles please.

You know... Looking at it again... It doesn't seem like it was just the angle. It does look like unless they change that in the coming months, we will be seeing the back of her head looking all weird throughout the whole game, haha.

Oh, tall female Robin was the beeest

Also Kozaki IS the most popular artist, the forums reception are rather inconsequential. Like how you will read Camilla hate on the internet while she is very popular for the general public. So my point is mainly that despite the reception you read around this artist in the internet might has been of the liking of the general public.

You keep saying that without no true basis, though... And when I mentioned these forums I did it as an example, it's not like I don't use the internet myself, don't read the news and don't communicate with other beings or something.

Lucina actually did it, to the point that Nintendo basically ignored Chrom's status as the Lord protagonist and put Lucina in Smash first and she has the most alts in Heroes compared to the other popular characters i believe.

Really. What you're saying to me here, since it's in answer to what I said, is that most of the people who played Awakening did it just for the character of Lucina.

I understand you may like Lucina that much, and she's truly very popular, but her character didn't save the game nor was she the reason people liked Awakening's rooster (for those who did, anyway).

Moreover, I belong to a community  of gamers who are (like me) absolutely obsessed with Fire Emblem, and we're like seventeen people. Out of those seventeen, only one loves Lucina (and one Corrin, but that's not important), the rest don't care about her, and there's also a guy who doesn't like her for whatever reason. Again, this is just an example for the statistics.

The front looks ok, but the back is an absolute travesty. Everyone is freaking out about her ugly leggings and revealing armor but the real crime is the back of her head.

Hahaha, to be honest, I hadn't noticed the back of her head until you pointed it out. Maybe it's the angle that made it look so asymmetrical? Otherwise you're right, it looks badly chopped off from the back.

I dunno, i think the japanese fanbase POv would be a better metric of this reception, would be interesting to know.

Looking at Awakening threads both here and gamefaqs when the characters were posted i saw a similar reaction towards kozaki's designs and art and how nany people thought it was inferior was to previous games and look at and behold now he is the most popular artist the series ever had.

I at least like the designs i have seen, i look forward to see how much this reception remains or changes when it has been a good while on the market.

One character can do wonders actually, just look at Lucina. I think Edelgard has the potential to become as popular.

I don't see how nationality makes us that different, but that aside, I believe Kozaki is more infamous than famous, since even now I can see people are still complaining about his designs in this very forum. I'm one of the apparent few who likes his designs, they're not perfect or anything, it's just because they are creative and colourful. But from the moment they came out to the present time, people have been and are still complaining about Kozaki's designs and many are happy he's gone, so that hasn't changed at all. The fact I'm not happy with the designs in 3H really has nothing to do with him either, it's simply that I consider Kurahana's designs for this game to be bland so far, and sort of unfit, out of their own accord.

As for Lucina and Edelgard... I didn't say Edelgard wouldn't be popular, she's actually the character I like the most so far  But what I meant to say is that she alone can't save the game and make people like the character designs in general. Lucina didn't do such a thing, Awakening has many incredibly popular characters just as much as her or more in the case of Chrom.

I am an university student myself. Most of the Professors are pretty much 20-30 years olders then me or my fellow students. The ones who are only a few years olders then me are usually Professor-assistants and/or those wanting to get PhD. They are not institute leaders themselves.

Then, I guess it's a matter of radically different experiences.

Professors in real life are 30+ year older then their students.

Haha, what? Have you been to college? Half of my professors were only a few years older than me, and the other half was still in his twenties or thirties. Only like two or three were like sixty. And there's also the fact that there were students that were in their thirties or fourties. But even in highschool the teachers are not commonly so old in comparison to the students. The difference in age tends to be 15-20 years.

in this case the artist chosen already appeals to the allegedly big female fanbase this series has.

To be honest, as part of the female fanbase, or at least the one that's into guys, I have found most male characters very uninteresting. I also have friends from the male fanbase who are into guys too, and they have said the same. Of course, we have yet to see many other characters (I think?), but so far, not so good.

    2 hours ago, kratoscar2008 said:

I think that given Edelgard already became a fan favorite (I bet she already have more fanart than most Echoes girls) this means that Nintendo succeeded with the artist.

One character can't save them all, though, specially not in a series of videogames where we tend to have like 40 playable units.

How dare they make a MU that looks feminine!

    It's not.

Now, I'm not claiming to be an expert in any sort of demonology, nor to have knowledge on how much anyone dug into this beforehand. I'm also not saying that this really accounts for the outfit Female Byleth is wearing. However, I do think this may provide some reasoning for why F!Byleth looks younger and more innocent than her male counterpart. Just thought I'd share this.

Oh, that's very interesting! On my part, I actually like F!Byleth face and hair more than I like M!Byleth, even though I know many people seem bothered by it, but it's just that I feel M!Byleth looks eternally bored, haha. F!Byleth looks somehow cuter to me, on the other hand. It's her clothing I'm not fond of, it's too unmatched and it's not good for cosplaying purposes. Not to me, at least.

If had to be someone new then I really would’ve liked Yamada Akihiro. I know some people didn’t like his work in Heroes but I personally was a big fan of them and here, look at some of his other stuff:

Oh, my God!!! I had no idea Yamada Akihiro was the one who made the new illustrations for The Twelve Kingdom series! I love those book to pieces, like they're actually one of my favorite medieval fantasy books ever! And I have loved those illustrations for T12K since they came out (the ones before that were not so good, maybe because they were dated or I don't know).

It's crazy how many incredible illustrators are involved with Heroes  I keep getting surprised.

  13. I know her from Togainu no Chi. A friend of mine was very surprised to know they really had chosen her to be the character designer for a Fire Emblem game, given what Togainu no Chi is all about :P:. I thought it awesome at first, that she would bring fresh, creative ideas for the design of the characters, but so far I've been midly disappointed. What I've seen is not bad, just... plain.

  14. People keep saying Byleth can't romance the students because of the implications. This isn't a high school, the characters are not kids. It's a military school, like the kind you go in New Mystery's prologue. They are all adults, and Byleth is certainly the same age as them if we go by appearances.

After each route, these Crest Orbs can be viewed in a gallery from the main menu, and thus are in a sense "saved" between playthroughs. If the player's third playthrough (?!) would unlock all 21 Crest Orbs, however, the True Final Ending is unlocked. This is made possible because of Sothis - given how she seems to grant Byleth a Timewheel-esque power, she may have some sort of futuresight or other cross-dimensional manipulation at her disposal, allowing the combined efforts of these Byleths to complete the Fodlan Falchion.

This sounds cool c:  and reminds me of the Zero Escape games. I hadn't thought about it, but it really was made clear in the trailer that Sothis can rewind time (and maybe she gives this ability to Byleth but limited or something). I really hope that means IntSys has some cool plot twists or some interesting dynamics in store for us.

  16. I don't think there will be different routes. The biggest difference I would expect when choosing a house, apart from the units you get, is something like what they did in Sacred Stones. But in this case, I think that the ability to choose between three different groups of units will be mostly for gameplay purposes instead of the plot. Things like strategy and replayability.

Moreover, more than one route implies more than one final villain or enemy, and these three houses just look too friendly for them to suddenly want to kill and destroy each other later.

Maybe the ending will focus on the lives of the house you chose and their leader.

Don't know why I feel that this time the bullied team will be the Blue team.

The Holy Spaghetti Kingdom is just too bulliable, I'm afraid. Edelgard looks like the type who's above it all, and Claude looks like the type who'd do the bullying in the first place.

Regarding the unique sword (the one with a dragon-wing crossguard), in the first trailer, it was wielded by someone who looked like an obvious bad guy, but also has a striking resemblance to an older version of Jeralt: Byleth's dad.

    Perhaps it's our granddaddy.

I mean, we've known that Sothis exists since the first trailer, and her design so obviously screams dragon that it'd be the biggest plot twist in all of Fire Emblem if she wasn't one. We can't say for sure if she'll be playable, but I think she will be. If you count dragons as beast units, then I'm almost 100% certain that we'll have beast units, because playable dragons are pretty much a series staple.

That's the thing, I'm not so sure she'll be playable. There's something about her that seems more Naga than Tiki, or more Mila. Gaiden/Echoes, Genealogy, Thracia and Blazing Sword have no playable manaketes; and Gaiden/Echoes has manaketes but you can't use them as units, which is why a playable Sothis isn't a certainty. It's entirely plausible that they decide not to go with them or any beast units now. Of course, this is just me thinking too much and being all worried hahaha.

I'll still enjoy the game even if there aren't any dragon or beast units, but it'll be saddening for me.
