  1. That's true, it's a point of discussion I simply can't miss! Pleasure meeting you Ycine.
  2. I truthfully want Neimi and Xane the most, I do have some others but being from Thracia and all I don't know if they'd ever get in.
  3. After some long consideration and taking a break to change up things (I actually no longer go by Chainy in just about any other FE community), I decided to pop back up. As usual, I'm willing to talk about the classic Fire Emblem games and maybe a bit about Fire Emblem Heroes. It's pleasure to visit the forums once again honestly. I'm a long time Fire Emblem fan, actually date back to the early days of an old FE community known as FESS. Also been an Est fan for basically that long (17 years as of last month). Hopefully I can stick around for once, just be aware I do tend to be in and out of places like this. I do play Fire Emblem Heroes as well, but that's more of a side thing these days.
  4. Arden is a mostly underrated dad. If you can spare the Pursuit Ring in Gen 2, you actually can make an excellent Diarmuid that way. Nanna does turn out a bit shaky with that pairing. He's not a bad pick though the lack of inheritance in many cases messes things up.
  5. Grand Canyon Village, AZ. This is my second National Park I'm living at, my first was Yellowstone up by Old Faithful. Formerly from California.
  6. I pretty much went Eliwood/Fiora, Lyn/Florina, and Hector/Farina the last time I did a playthrough. It just matched up for me, even though honestly I'm certain Ninian is the canon mother of Roy.
  7. Hi folks! I'm Chainy - or was Chainy (I mean Xane is a thing now!) or...well let's just say I'm known by some former FESS members and other Fire Emblem community vets. I meant to reappear to do some Echoes discussion back in May, but my Yellowstone job kept me really engaged so that didn't actually happen (the game was hands down my favorite of the 3DS Fire Emblem entries however). But I've decided to pop back in SF for good. This time, I'm not going anywhere; probably going to get into Fire Emblem: Heroes after a while and I miss a few folks here. Favorite Fire Emblem characters: Est, Xane, Navarre, and you can add Camus to that list. Known as: Chainy in the community since the longest time. Other games I'm into: Zelda, Tales, Super Robot Wars, Final Fantasy (sort of), pretty much any JRPG will command some interest from me. Other weird quirks: Working at the Grand Canyon during the winter.
  8. Hi everyone, I'm back for the New Year after a veeeery long hiatus. Some of you may remember me, some of you may not. Hi anyway. :)

  9. Castor's good for what he is, although the higher difficulties may not be too kind to him. Still, he has enough of a Weapon Rank to use a Killer Bow so that might be worth something. His growths are a bit of a concern however, as he always turns out as frail as can be (which hurts him in the higher difficulties as well) while being solid elsewhere. Still, he turns out better than a good chunk of the archers in the game so its entirely up to you on whether to use him or not. In general though, he does his job but he doesn't stand out in any way in particular aside from that weapon rank. Better mobility does help him if you manage to promote him though. I'd give him a 7/10. He'll be better than most archers in the game except maybe Ryan thanks to that Killer Bow and good growth rates, but his defense can fail him in the higher difficulties.
  10. Sirius is the best damn character you can get your hands on when on the higher difficulties, yes...even better than Palla. His weapon ranks are ridiculous for one thing (A Lances and B Swords? Goodness sakes!), and his bases are amazing. To add onto it, his growths are excellent and he will stay awesome the entire game. You will not find a better character on the higher difficulties than him period, as he comes at a time where weapon rank matters a lot and he absolutely has them cranked up as high as they can be for the point of the game you get him. Plus he's one of my favorite characters. 9/10 +1 Bias for an overall score of 10/10
  11. Yeah, someone can shoot me now. While I gave Yumina a bad rap...I'll give Yubello a not as bad one. The biggest setback for Yubello over here is the fact his bases are just awful (heck they're worse than his SNES FE counterpart. An absolute base of -2?! Was IS trolling us or something?). It doesn't help matters that you get Linde literally the chapter right before this one (assuming you don't go 3x anyway). His growth rates actually work well and its not hard to level the guy on Chapter 4's relatively weak enemies. But really, his awful bases will hurt him time and time again. Add on the fact Merric got use in the Prologue, and well... If you have the patience to get him revved up in the higher difficulties, be my guest...but he's definitely more of a Normal Mode dude where his awful bases don't hurt him anywhere as bad. Here, he just has no chance whatsoever unless you spoonfeed him kill after kill after kill. At least he gets good after maybe 10-15 level ups if you do that, but if you don't then using him is like shooting yourself in the foot. 5/10. Same score as his sister, but for totally different reasons. If this was Normal, I would have made it a bit higher.
  12. I might be part of the minority critical of Yumina here, then. In normal difficulties, she'd be alright...she has a good enough staff score. But really, Malessia has a serious edge on her in the higher difficulties. They did improve her over how she was in SNES FE3 stat wise, but that is not saying much when once again she is totally outclassed. If you really need another staffbot, go ahead and use her...but all she's ever going to be is second fiddle. Sure she has that Rescue Staff (and I am THANKFUL she brings it) but last I checked that's not even locked to her in this game (correct me if I'm wrong). Want my .02? Just give the Rescue Staff to someone else and bench her...her sole selling point in the SNES games is gone, and you've got a crapload of magic users to consider as it is. Good second fiddle staffbot, but -1 due to being overrated even back in the day. 5/10
  13. Perhaps he's not as good as he was in the SNES FE games, but that doesn't take away from the fact he'll probably slaughter everything before they get a chance to slaughter him. Having 25% Defense growth on the higher difficulties sets him back a little. Still because his availability is really good, and he starts with C Swords...he's still the best Mercenary you can dig up. Most of the others come in too late to really catch up on the higher difficulties. 8/10
  14. Can you say outclassed? In truth, you do get him pretty early but the poor guy just does not have the stats to hold up; especially in the higher difficulties. A reclass to Mage helps a little (in all honesty it just fixes his Mag and he still gets outdone everywhere else statwise), but by the time you can get him back in 3x Malessia's going to be way ahead of him statwise due to just better growth rates on her part. So he's most likely going to be riding the pine instead of getting any real use. 3/10
  15. Can't blame you about this, part of the reason I consider even using Matthis redundant is he has competition just about everywhere that outdoes him; and Pirate's no exception. He can make a good one, but he's clearly on the losing end when you got folks packing C ranks already which is important for HM. Same deal with Archer; you've had Ryan for so long that Matthis would be redundant and expendable by the time you get him in that role.
  16. Ugh...okay, where to begin on how much this guy sucks? He can work as a Pirate/Berserker or Archer/Sniper (as I tried the latter before), but given how much of a pain he is to recruit and how genuinely redundant he is to your team...is it really worth it? Exactly the same to me as he was in the SNES FE3: Free Javelin, bench afterwards since you'd have to be pretty desperate to consider the guy. 4/10
  17. Oh hi there SF. I just decided to return from a long hiatus. How's everyone?

  18. Back from the deaaaad, oh nos. Anyway yes I managed to see this page. Julian's pretty solid, but really the fact there's weapon ranks here and not in SNES FE3 hurts the guy a lot more towards the beginning. Thankfully, his growths are just HAX. He'll be tearing through folks on the way to doors and chests in no time. Definitely 8/10 material, only reason he's not 9/10 is because of that E Sword rank which hurts him when you first try using him.
  19. Art style mostly weirds me out, but I wouldn't say its horrible until there's more characters available to view. Either way its tolerable, just a departure from what most FE fans are probably used to.
  20. Will destroy my collection of cards. Objected a statement. :P
  21. Its a bit of a no brainer, and I don't see the bad Skill ruining Lester if you got Skill Rings to spare. Really the lack of Pursuit is the only reason I avoid it.
  22. Durians for God Tier, because you don't wanna get hit by one. (Well they also have a good taste but good luck getting past the smell.)
