  4. Oscar....Kieran's rival and a less fun, if more dependable character... Pros: Earth Affinity Nice speed growth Has a good chance of capping skill and speed stats Can do the Triangle Attack, though not immediately Cons: Causes chip damage at times Crappy speed cap (not his fault, but doesn't help) Gold/Silver Knights are less useful than comparable units in other FE games (same speed as Haar, but less strength, weaker weapon type, less defense...etc.) Oscar has an Earth support, which is great, but that doesn't always make up for his less-than-endgame worthy caps. Earth affinities are nice, but that shouldn't be the only reason why a character is brought into Endgame. A good fighter, but falls short by endgame due to shortcomings that are not his fault in general (bar the unreliable strength growth, which can be remedied with an energy drop...Though I'd rather use it on someone else). Bases: 7/10 Growths: 5/10 Main Story Usefulness: 6.5/10 (Won't set the world on fire, but is a dependable unit for most of the game) Endgame usefulness: 4.5/10 (Has the potential to fall quickly to SMs, and that darn speed cap...) Ease of training: 7.5/10 +0.4 for Kieran/Oscar rivalry and Oscar's cool demeanor+ the fact that he came back to care for Boyd and Rolf...(Awww moment) Total: 6.5/10
  5. Because I didn't bring any dragons into the final chapter. Nasir got his Nihil ripped off and was benched. And I didn't want to waste BEXP or speedwings to get Ena or Kurth up to the point where they wouldn't get slaughtered by Ashera (happened that way on NM, if I remember correctly, so didn't want to take the chance on HM). And isn't using dragon bonuses a bit cheap? Even when I did bring the dragons (early endgame), they weren't generally close enough to the action to affect the frontline fighters. That's my own fault... I guess dragon bonuses would've helped, but it still only takes 3-4 turns to beat the Auroras and Ashera on HM. And Brave weapons? On HM? That gives like a 50% hit chance vs. Auroras/Ashera. All I know is that Nolan had 36 str and 35 speed, and did 17 damage to Auroras with Urvan. 17. With an SS weapon. The only upside is that he could actually hit the Auroras, unlike a certain blue-haired protagonist...Ugh.... Nolan was used to dispose of spirits... Actually, VK, DB, Rexcaliber, and Alondite destroyed most of the Auroras. And Ashera was easier to kill than them, so it didn't matter after that. It was my first PT after a long hiatus, so I might not have covered all my bases for HM endgame, but I got through it fine. I was just underwhelmed by "the strongest beorc unit." On a completely unrelated note, I was too busy thanking the RNG goddess for letting Miccy cap speed and most of her other stats w/o statboosters or BEXP for HM. Helped out a ton. Let her survive w/o Sothe's support in Endgame, which was good b/c he was too busy almost getting killed. :)
  6. Because they cause only passable damage to Auroras, though like I said, their high HP allows them to take hits well. And I'd rather take Nolan for his Earth affinity and better speed growth. Anyway, I found that Trueblades dish out more damage due to consistent doubling and Adept/Vantage/Astra, Rolf puts out more damage with the Double Bow, and Jill is fine for an axe user (with higher defense, too). Boyd is proven to be unnecessary and not much of a benefit. Heck, even Ike wasn't a use with his "I-have-a-52%-hit-chance vs. Auroras." But it's just personal opinion. I like Reavers and I like Boyd and Nolan, but I just found that Nolan was a better use in HM, so Boyd was just...eh. Bottom line: Personal opinion, I guess.
  7. Oh, Boyd..... I love you and your siblings, but on HM, you shine a bit less than in other circumstances (that goes for Oscar and his crappy strength, too...No help on HM) Anyway...On topic: Boyd has a nice HP base and good HP growth, as well as a solid strength growth... Very nice (though Rolf's strength is higher...WTH). However, he doesn't reliably gain speed, which sucks on HM. 18 base speed is just a couple points too low. Even transfers only serve to give him a bit of breathing room, and there's little incentive to use more than one Reaver. But he's good once raised. I like Reavers, and their generous HP stat allows them to take Endgame blows (specifically Ashera's attacks) without too much worry. Plus, BoydxMist is one of my favorite pairings. Honestly, though, Boyd ended up being a good fighter on my PT, but not extremely useful into Endgame (#10 on my team for kills...Ended as a --/20/11 Reaver). Bases: 6.5/10 Growths: 6/10 Main Story Usefulness: 7.5/10 (Good as a wall w/ his high HP) Endgame Usefulness: 6/10 (No need for two Reavers, so....) Ease of Training: 8.5/10 +0.5 bonus for Axefighter and BoydxMist 7.4/10 ----> Round to 7.5/10 for final grade
  8. I do not like Diablos or Uragaan (I've only fought them a few times). Uragaan in particular...I can never swivel the camera around quickly enough to see if he's doing a roll attack. Otherwise, I'm okay. I like fighting Rathian! I'm only HR39, so I haven't had a full on fight against Jho yet, but he's plenty large!
  9. Yeah, but Monshou no Nazo is the most popular FE in Japan, so I'm sure that Nintendo thought it would sell just based on nostalgia alone. I'm saying that even though FE11/12 contain variable difficulties, the gameplay is so archaic that it might not appeal to new players, unless it was their first FE.
  10. I had expected FE12 to be localized by Christmas, based on FE11's release schedule, but it didn't happen. It could probably be chalked up to Nintendo's focus on the 3DS at that point. That being said, I wouldn't give up on it. New Mystery has sold 270,000 in Japan, roughly even with Shadow Dragon. Shadow Dragon sold 250,000 in the Americas, so that's a worldwide total of 520,000 just for SD. Not bad. However, I do believe that Nintendo dropped the ball with FE11 and FE12, as new players are not likely to want to play an archaic remake of a twenty year old game. SD was my first FE, but the more I got into the later FEs, the more I disliked SD. Anyway, I'd really love a new 3DS FE with graphics reminiscent of FE9/10. The maps could resemble FE11/FE12s, but the battle animations could be in 3D.
  11. Best: Ike (Honorable mentions to Nils, Boyd, Oscar, and Rolf) Worst: Makalov (Only brother who really got on my nerves) Nomination: Best/Worst In-Game Nickname
  12. Two months later...Still an INTJ. Apparently, I've gotten more sympathetic and logical, though (Intuition jumped to 25, thinking to 62)
  13. Okay, so the scores are in. I'm alive...And so definitely retaking the SAT.
