Ok? I'm not finding anything on this "generic rock" you speak of, so you either made it up, or whatever band thinks that they are "generic rock" has made it up. And even if the term does exist, "softer than metal, modern rock that is not punk" is redundant. Why not just call it, you know, hard rock? Or alternative? Or maybe I'm misunderstanding something here.
