  1. To compare it with co-op games I've often played with my friends, it could be any of the following: 1) a la Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2/3: storyless, balls-to-the-wall difficult missions where the two players need to coordinate perfectly and summon all of their skill to succeed (I still remember, the hardest mission in NGS2 was absurd - you had to fight three of the game's hardest boss at the same time) and exist solely for the challenge. 2) a la Splinter Cell Conviction/Blacklist: The co-op mode has its own story that is either directly related to the main story, serving as a prequel/sequel or running parallel to it. For people that just want to experience the story, there should also be an option to play it by themselves, either with an AI partner or controlling both armies themselves. 3) a la Resident Evil 5/6: The main story IS co-op with either a player or AI as their partner. I feel like this wouldn't work too well in FE's case, though...
  2. Me and my friends have constantly discussed this idea, and think that it would be great if done properly. Mechanics for ally NPCs have existed for a while now, and it shouldn't be that hard to just make them player-controlled instead. Both players could field maybe around 6 - 10 units each, and there should be a variety of maps... "Split" maps such as Conquest chapters 15 and 25 (the latter with an explicit division down the middle) and more "normal" maps, both offense and defense, or mixed. A stage like Vanguard Dawn for example would be fantastic for co-op with some alterations - The goal of the stage would be to defeat all the bosses, and losing the defense point is an instant loss. One player needs to defend the point while the other flanks the enemy formation to take out the bosses. I'm just a total nerd for co-op multiplayer, and I think that Fire Emblem in particular wouldn't exactly suffer from having one, if it's executed well. What do you folks think?
  3. Honestly, I enjoyed the plot of Fates, if only because not liking it would make me feel like I wasted my money. Always look on the bright side of life and all that! Yeah, it could've been a lot better. It could have also been worse...
  4. Thanks a lot, I got it. I'll probably come back for more skills tomorrow...
  5. Can I have someone with Aptitude Selkie?
  6. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Selena!Caeldori turns out to be canon in some way. As far as I'm aware, Caeldori is the only child to get an extra scene in her paralogue if a specific character (Selena) is her mother, and Caeldori's supports with her mother are pretty generic for everyone (as with most parent/child supports)... but Selena gets more lines than most of them do. It's most noticable in their A support. It serves as nice character development for both of them, too. It's just a shame Selena passes down rather meh growths. I'll probably always do the pairing in future Revelation playthroughs because it fits so well, but it's still a little sad.
  7. Thanks a lot, I got her. You forgot to set all your units to Hold, by the way. Your Corrin kinda murdered mine at the start... with a 6% DF crit. That one's for the RNG annals.
  8. Personally, I'd advise against Felicia!Forrest. Sakura is a better mother in basically every possible way, if you haven't planned her marriage yet. Sakura!Forrest has superior growths in every stat except RES, which Forrest gets plenty of anyway, due to most of his classes having good growths in that stat. Additionally, Felicia passes down the Mercenary class line which Forrest doesn't get much use out of, whereas Sakura passes Monk, which gives Forrest access to a number of awesome skills such as Renewal and Tomefaire. Regarding Caeldori, Hinoka!Caeldori has equal or superior growths in every single stat and passes the useful Spear Fighter class line. Selena!Caeldori however still has decent growths and gains access to the Mercenary class line which contains useful skills such as Sol and Shurikenbreaker. Personally, I'm a fan of Selena!Caeldori... partly because it feels like Caeldori's supports with her mother were written for Selena specifically. You also get a special scene at the end of her recruitment Paralogue. Regarding the "leftover kids", Shiro is extremely good - I personally like Camilla as his mother, which makes him a seriously tanky menace that's still pretty fast, but you already intend to marry her to Keaton, so a decent replacement would be Mozu (more well-rounded) or Kagero (loses some bulk, but gains 58 STR growth). Nina is one of the kids that can go either way depending on who her mother is - Elise!Nina or Nyx!Nina make excellent Shining Bow users, if you don't go through with marrying them off to Odin and Hayato after all. Peri and Oboro make good mothers for a more physical Nina, and Selena will also do in a pinch. I can't really comment on the other children as I've never or rarely used them. Regarding your thoughts about Azura: Also keep in mind that marrying Azura may cause you to miss out on one child. Personally, I'm not a fan of marrying the children, but Selkie and Velouria both seem like solid choices. Flip a coin?
  9. Just updated my castle, he should be up now. Also finally made my castle easy to seize, been putting that off for the longest time.
  10. I think my Forrest may have Miracle. Let me check, I'll edit this when I've done so. Castle code is in my signature. As for myself, I'm looking for Elise with Amaterasu. Anyone?
  11. It feels like, in many ways, Fates was rushed. The story is so incomplete and ends up leaving so many questions unanswered... just feels like the writers were racing a deadline and didn't have the time to make sure the story actually made sense. In my opinion, one of the most egregious cases is Azura... Revelation reveals that she was entirely aware of what was going on in Valla from the beginning, which also means that she knows Anankos is still out there all the way through Birthright and Conquest. Okay, there's the whole curse thing, but in Conquest, you actually spend one chapter in Valla - it would've been the perfect time to say, "By the way Corrin, your dad is a crazy dragon and wants to destroy the world, so come back here when you're done in Nohr/Hoshido and kill him, okay?" Instead... she just warns Corrin about the curse and that's it. The only way I can possibly explain that is if she thought that they could still take care of Anankos after ending the war... which in both Conquest and Birthright leads to two of the eight siblings dying, not to mention hundreds or even thousands of innocent people, as well as her own death. GG Azura.
  12. I believe which cutscenes appear depends on when you started the file. Judging from your situation, I'd say you cleared Birthright first, then started Conquest/Revelation, and then before beating the Endgame on that file, you started a Revelation/Conquest file. Once you clear a route, all new files you start from that point on will have the cutscenes from the relevant route available, but it's not retroactive. At least that's my guess from observation.
  13. Summed it up nicely there. There was so much potential in contrasting Nohr and Hoshido, but instead, Hoshidans are all pure and good and just while Nohrians are (with the exception of the playable characters) all irredeemably evil jackasses (I heard that this was even worse in the Japanese version, with Hoshidans being pure, incorruptible good. At least in the localization, they are somewhat distrustful and xenophobic.). What's even more bizarre is, as OP suggested, that there is actually a famine in Nohr, and attacking Hoshido for their fertile farmlands would have been a ruthless, if perfectly valid reason for war... except it's 100% clear that Garon only started the war because Big Bad Dragon Daddy Anankos told him to... and the icing on the cake is that the whole thing about the famine is only mentioned in Birthright, near the end. What? There's also the fact that certain key information (for example, Anankos being Corrin's dad) isn't revealed in the main game, but is relegated to Hidden Truths instead. Speaking of HT, 90% of Lilith's characterization is also stuck in that DLC, including that completely unimportant thing where she is Corrin's freaking sister. Fates had such an incredible amount of potential to be an epic, gripping, dramatic story... to throw it all away in favour of a generic good versus evil plot. If it's any consolation, I have little doubt that fanfiction will soon begin to plug the holes left by the devs...
  14. I was honestly pretty surprised after the tedious farming DLCs, the supremely "meh" Hidden Truths and the outright stupid Royal Royale/Beach Brawl stages. I think I had more fun playing Vanguard Dawn than any of the main game stages...
  15. ...And it was amazing! Definitely the most fun DLC yet. It's just you, your units, a few good chokepoints and a craptonne of enemies... I had loads of fun doing this one. Certainly way more than any of the other DLC so far. I guess I'll have Aether on everyone in no time!
  16. Looking forward to it. And also very happy about the quicker release schedule... I mean, wow, waiting a week to only get 1 or 2 maps every Thursday was beyond awful. I've yet to complete Hidden Truths 2, though. Got screwed by the RNG twice and didn't try again. Derp.
  17. I think I'll let the growths speak for themselves: Ophelia: Nina: As you can see, Felicia grants very slightly higher HP, STR and SKL, while Elise gives significantly higher MAG, SPD and LCK with slightly higher RES. Overall I'd say Elise is the superior mother, especially if you're planning on making the child a magic user - 15 MAG growth in both cases is quite a bit.
  18. No one was justifying cheating, just explaining why- -okay, someone beat me to it.
  19. As far as I am aware, data miners discovered that there's actually an item for learning Bold Stance in the game code (similar to the already-available-elsewhere Witch and Vanguard DLCs giving you scrolls to learn skills like Warp and Aether), so it's possible/likely that it will be obtainable in the future via DLC.
  20. Name: Lorelei Gender: Female Age: Mid-20s Appearance: Long black hair with some of it gathered in a ponytail and red eyes. Class: Samurai Reclass: Outlaw Personal Skill: Peerless Duelist - When attacked by an adjacent unit, this unit gains +50 to HIT/AVO. Availability: All routes Recruitment: Via Paralogue available after Chapter 7 in any route. Lorelei was injured during a hunt and retreated to her house near the Bottomless Canyon, which is under attack by Faceless when Corrin arrives. The player needs to get either Corrin or Azura to her house before the Faceless get there and then defeat all Faceless to clear the Paralogue and recruit her. Backstory: Born in Nohr before the war, she lost her parents at a young age to rampant crime. She turned to theft to survive, but she felt that Nohr was too big a pond for her - that eventually, she'd run into a bigger fish and get eaten herself. So when she found a caravan bound for Hoshido, she stowed away on it. Once there, she resumed her thieving ways, but was caught when attempting to pick an old man's pocket who turned out to be a retired soldier. Lucky for her, rather than reporting her to the authorities, he offered to take her in, believing that a person, especially a child like Lorelei, would only turn to crime out of necessity. The old man gladly passed on to her all he knew about the martial arts and trained her in the ways of the sword. Still, he was old, and before Lorelei was even 16 years old, he passed away. She vowed to leave her criminal past behind her and to become the greatest swordswoman in the land to honour him - and most would say she succeeded, to the point that a common mentality among the people who knew her was that if she and Crown Prince Ryoma were to ever fight, they would bet on her. Years passed and war once again flared up between Nohr and Hoshido. At this point, Lorelei had turned to spirituality and closed herself off from the world, choosing to live as a hermit near the Bottomless Canyon. Her distaste for war is well-known, but perhaps someone seeking to stop it could convince her to join their ranks... Personality: Calm to the point of being serene most of the time, she is cold at first but when she has befriended someone, she is immensely loyal and caring towards them. However, sometimes, especially in battle, her younger, more rash personality shines through. Base Stats/Caps: Level: 5 HP: 24 STR: 10 (+1) MAG: 0 (-3) SKL: 12 (+3) SPD: 11 (+3) LCK: 5 (-2) DEF: 8 (-1) RES: 7 (-2) Growths: HP: 35 STR: 40 MAG: 0 SKL: 60 SPD: 60 LCK: 20 DEF: 30 RES: 20 Quotes: Level Up: 0-1: "...Tch." 2-3: "...Still inadequate." 4-5: "As expected." 6+: "Naturally." Capped: "Is this truly my best?" Class change: "A different path to master." Dual Support: "I am here." / "Don't be afraid." / "Be calm and observe." Dual Strike: "Mistake!" / "Simple." / "Let me have this one!" Dual Guard: "Focus!" / "Be careful!" / "No!" Critical/Skill activation: "Find peace." / "It is your time." / "...DIE!" Enemy defeated: "It was an honour." / "Your skill was inadequate." / "Pass on to the next life." Partner defeats an enemy: "My thanks." / "That was close." / "I need to train more..." Defeated: "Is it... my time...?" Death/Retreat quote: "I wonder... have I... done enough..." / "Tch. I made a mistake. I must retreat."
  21. The problem is probably that all those things they have are technically possible to get in the game (with current and/or future DLC). So it's most likely that it just kind of passes through the cheat detection. Off-topic: holy crap is your avatar ninja elise that is so awesome
  22. If I put Nohrian Trust on a unit (let's call it Unit A) and pair it up with a unit that has Hoshidan Unity and/or Quixotic (let's call it Unit B), does Unit B having those skills affect Unit A's trigger rates in any way? As for the reverse, if Unit A has Hoshidan Unity and/or Quixotic in addition to Nohrian Trust, does this affect the trigger rates of Unit B's skills? EDIT: To clarify, in both scenarios, Unit A is in front and Unit B is supporting.
  23. You do have to grind them up from level 1, but if the RNG is with you, you can get fantastic Personal Skills - you can get nearly any class skill as well as most characters' own Personal Skills. Of course, this requires luck, and most of them are going to be garbage, but the potential is there. And of course, having an army of Corrins. That's also cool (or not, if you hate Corrin).
  24. Personally I'd go with Swordmaster. As Phillius said, the rocket-tag nature of PvP makes defenses basically irrelevant... as such, you just want to get your AVO as high as possible, so you want your SPD as high as it can get. In addition, you only get one Lodestar, but you can get a LOT more Swordmasters. There's also the fact that I always give Lodestar to Xander to fix his SPD in the main game, which is suboptimal for PvP. EDIT: Spelling.
