That's always the bad part about gacha games.

They are always designed to promote grinding and keep you working for the thing you want.

To make you personally invested in each and every one of the characters you choose to train.

    Which really isn't for everyone.

    At all.

I know this is totally off-topic, but I gotta throw it out there. That's a really cute signature you have there. Also, if you don't mind, what does URL stand for in that message below your username? (Or is it a typo?)

But back to the topic, with your level of skill, how much of the game can be changed? Like, besides creating new units and manipulating stats, is there anything else of interest you might be able to do? Admittedly there isn't much in the game to mess around with, but the isolated account idea sounds like it has some potential and I'm rather curious about it.

  2. Well, like many others here, I don't see too much of a problem with it, as long as legitimate users are not affected. In this day and age, any remotely popular game will inevitably get hacked by someone, and I've kind of come to accept it as an inevitable part of life. It can sometimes even be beneficial, as we all know that datamining has been a very consistent and reliable source of information for many games. Although personally speaking, FE:H is one of those rare exceptions where I feel like we didn't really need it too much because we would have figured out the complete nature system on our own, given a week or two. There isn't really anything else worth datamining besides the occasional GHB focus summon that gets leaked, although even then the images simply might not exist until the day it arrives (It's happened often enough now).

At the same time, I'm pretty sure Nintendo / Intelligent Systems doesn't appreciate this behavior, although anyone is free to dispute me on that if they think I'm wrong. From a "Would the developers condone this practice" standpoint, then yeah, this is probably not the best idea ever. And perhaps this is an "uneducated response", because I certainly don't work for them (and I doubt anyone else here does either), but it really does seem like dealing with hackers has indeed been at least part of the reason behind certain decisions at Intelligent Systems headquarters. I won't say it's the only reason, because any respectable company-based decision is obviously considered with many factors in mind. But still, the early days of Arena were rampant with hilariously illegal teams such as 40+10 Anna or 10+10 Xander. I ran into them so much, and many over at the FE:H subreddit did as well, and thousands of complaints were probably sent in about the issue. I would like to think at least one of those decisions were inspired by the wave of feedback from the players, considering Intelligent Systems is admittedly really responsive to that.

But yes, while I doubt the developers would appreciate it, as for me, I don't see too much of a problem as long as my Arena ranking or score isn't screwed over as a result. Someone is going to do it no matter what, and the fact you're honest about it is a plus I think. Not to mention, certain content such as Custom SC's was only made possible through screwing with the game files a bit, and I really do enjoy those. Admittedly, I treat online game hacking and non-online game hacking as somewhat different, because games like FE:H are far more community-based and everyone is working hard because they want to show off their hard-earned (or luckily-pulled) teams to others. Many people would probably feel understandably upset should some random schmuck come along and poof a $1000+ team into existence without paying a single penny for it.

  3. Well, I got Young Tiki off the bat, which was extremely nice. I didn't even need to reroll. Much later down the line, I suddenly rolled a whole slew of 4* Nowi(s), which was also nice. I went to hell and back for both of my Ninian(s) as well. I splurged quite a bit for Lucina as well, and got three of her.

Then I rolled +Spd/-Res Ryoma, +Spd/-Def Linde and 5* +Atk/-Def Kagero even though I wasn't gunning for them. I wasn't actively trying to get them at the time, but now that I have them by complete chance, they've certainly become somewhat of a favorite of mine.

  4. So apparently, the FE:H Japanese Twitter released an announcement stating that the CYL Heroes will be coming after this summer. They also released an Ike voice clip, and didn't say much else besides that. With a rough release date now pinned, most of you can probably start planning on when exactly you want to start saving orbs for the event. What are all your thoughts about this? Is it too soon, or more likely, rather late? Should they have given a more specific date beyond 'sometime after summer'?

On a side note, I have a slight feeling that regular Ike might show up sometime before his CYL version is released.

It's cool man... I know you didn't mean anything by it; you're just giving suggestions based on your own experience, and believe me I get that. All I'm sayin' is that in a game like this where your playable options are like 90% rando, people are inevitably gonna have differing experiences in getting what they want. Sorry if I came across as too bitter with all this (I mean... I AM bitter lol, but not at you, so sorry if you felt like I was aiming it at you, that wasn't my intent), I've just had a very different experience when it comes to the luck factor lol.

In my case, the only characters I've managed to pull from a focus banner were Marth, Robin (at 3* though so IDK if that counts), and Leo, and I've tried for at least one in every banner so far except Siblings Pt 2 and Spring... I guess I may have learned the lesson of 'just try for one focus color' a bit too late, though unfortunately even focusing on one color didn't do me any good in this last banner (120 orbs predominantly spent on blue barring cases where blue doesn't appear and no Ninian to show for it lol)... Sometimes the game just doesn't love ya... heheh... (I think I recall seeing at some point that you got 2 Ninians...? maybe? not sure... and granted I don't know how many orbs/much money you spent on that one if that's even the case)

    So don't sweat it man, no harm no foul, you've been... I would say relatively lucky, from my perspective at least? And I've been not so much but that's just how it happens sometimes... Hopefully my luck will turn around eventually ahaha ;; In the meantime no hard feelings or anything, I'm glad SOME people are able to get the characters they want (I did too... at first... ehehe), it's just tough when you can't be one of them and stuff even when you try to play smart about it and stuff ;;

Ah, that's good. I was a bit worried that I might have been a bit too thoughtless about my words. And don't worry, you didn't actually sound too bitter towards me. Honestly speaking, I'm a rather paranoid person, so I feel inclined to apologize if I have even the most remote feeling that I could have done something insensitive or wrong. Usually it's just me looking into things too much, but I do believe in the term "better being safe than sorry" rather strongly, so it's become a habit of mine. Anyway, it's good that you seem to be a very understanding person.

And I do hope your luck turns around soon sometime. I know this game will inevitably favor some people with lucky pulls, while others won't be as fortunate. But I do know how fun it is to pull characters that you really like, so I do sincerely wish people like you who haven't been doing so good will get a chance eventually. Of course, getting everything we want is unlikely, but hopefully it isn't too much to ask from the game to hand you some of the units you've been gunning for. The game can be plenty fun with just four units that you really like, so I do hope you at least manage to complete one of your dream teams!

And yeah, I did roll a second Ninian. Admittedly that one was my luck working at full power. I didn't spend any extra money (I spent $75 once and I'm making it a point to never spend again), but I had enough orbs for pulling another three heroes. During the literal last thirty minutes of the Blazing Shadow banner, I went against my better judgment and rolled in the futile hopes of getting another Ninian. Apparently someone heard my pleas because she was my second hero pulled. And she was +Spd/-Hp, which was much better than my previous +Hp/-Atk. So yeah, that was pretty amazing. I spent over 120+ orbs on that focus summon I think; I skipped every banner since Legendary Heroes (I did take a small detour on the Princess banner though) so I had a fair number of orbs stockpiled by then.

Thing is... I'm terrible at thinking ahead and great at brainfart. I tossed like 3 or 4 Roys into the woodchipper like a week ago to make more room. God, I'm so dumb. t_t

-Res was intentional. She's not going to be in direct combat often, and the absolute worst case scenario is I need her to tank a Falchion or Raudhrblade+. With Triangle Adept 3 and Quick Riposte 3 (whenever I get around to finding another Roy), a vanilla +10 +Atk Chrom with no buffs deals only 59% damage, and a fully buffed (+4 to all stats) vanilla +10 +Atk Tharja deals only 65% damage. Both die on the second counterattack.

    Yes.

Ah, I see.  Seriously speaking though, congratulations on your 40+10 Ninian, even if it was only a matter of time. I'm genuinely happy that so many huge fans of her exist in this forum, and it's really nice to see someone I know finally attain a 40+10 version of her. That 40+10 Ninian truly is beautiful, and I can imagine how pleased you must be with her. As a fellow fan of her, I really am pleased to see such obsession over her after all those years ago where no one really talked about her and speaking her name would incite a horde of Lyndis fans to lynch you. And of course, as a fellow fan, I am also admittedly incredibly jelly over your new super unit that I can probably never attain. My Ninian is still totally better though; she's much cuter and is perfect in many other ways! Still, I know you must have sacrificed (your wallet's contents) immensely to obtain her, and I do legitimately greatly admire you for your dedication to her cause. The earlier post was obviously a half-jest, but I did kind of mean it when I kind of look up to you in a master/mentor type of manner. You seem incredibly knowledgeable, you have pretty much the exact same tastes as me, and we both have ridiculously similar usernames if one thinks about it. You're pretty much my ideal on this forum, and I do hope that means something to you. My Ninian is still the best to me though.

They mentioned on Twitter that they were adjusting the ranking rewards. Chances are they made each round's rewards the same.

I believe the last round actually still gives better rewards. I remember checking, and I'm pretty sure of it. But the disparity is much smaller now, and the rewards aren't so horribly mismatched as before.

EDIT: Yeah I checked the notifications board, and I can confirm this is indeed the case.

Trying to figure out best route here for round 2.  If Team Cherche falls :( Who should I join next? If I want to stop Camilla, should I go Cordellia or Minerva?  They seem to be main two big powers who have the best chance. Do we hold the line at Cordellia or bide time and build up Minerva armada?

Now their is bit of a conundrum.  If the battle flag quest get reset for round two and depending on how they do the cumulative rank rewards. I may go with the winner of Subaki vs Beruka would be my best call since I have the character for battle flag bonus.  Which will help me in the long run.  Morale delimma.

Unfortunately stopping Camilla is a very dead dream as she literally has more votes than every other team combined

Join Minerva probably, she has the second most votes. Also Arcanite can probably give you another billion reasons to join her that I'd be unable to think of.

On the topic of Lucina, I liked her whole future schtick and Masked Marth shenanigans. Her design was a near-perfect blend of 'cool' yet 'kinda cute', which really won me over as well. This might be subjective but, she also kind of felt like the most capable female Lord in the series as well, and her deep sense of purpose just kinda made me more attached to her than Chrom throughout the game. She had more of a personal stake in the plot, and it was easier to associate with her plight than his. Her swordplay was also quite cool and elegant, and I just felt like she was an overall good character. And then she became too popular, at which point, a lot of her vocal dissenters came out of the woodworks.

I think you just answered your own question.  It's not that people are super attracted to Camilla, revealing boobs don't create an attraction on their own but rather entire body structure as well as facial features.  However, among guys, refusing to say something immature whenever they come up, is seen as a lack of maturity (in an ironic sort of way) or masculinity.

That being said, I just started playing Fates and I must say, I find her to be a decent character.  Similar to Felicia, I actually really like her character but hate her design (why did you have to make it weird with the Japanese maid outfit?).  She kind of acts like a little sister but is much older than, say, elise which creates an interesting dynamic between her and your character.

What I'm saying is, the hype and hatred of Camilla revolves around those who can't risk their masculinity and those who hate that she is seen as the ultimate female form.  For this reason, I've seen a lot of females who like her, as well as people like me who don't care either way.  Depending on how her character progresses, I could end up liking her and ignoring her character art.

I disagree with this specifically.  Xander has both spring and nonspring forms coming up but he can't be in a focus yet because his base character does not exist.  Leo had a voting gauntlet as well, although never had a focus at the beginning of the game for him.  Elise is just the ordinary 'characters sister' that no one cares about.

Rather, I would say IS is favoring the Nohr royals over the other.  Aside from Takumi being OP

Hm... That's a fair enough viewpoint, actually. I still think Camilla is a tad bit more advertised, but you do have a very valid point about the Nohrian Family in general. Xander does get a lot of screentime in Heroes, and he's like pretty much the only non-Anna returnee to actually matter in the plot. He did get a Spring Form too, and his regular form is getting hyped up almost as much as Ike's regular form due to how long they've both been held back. Elise also got a chance in the Voting Gauntlet, even though Sakura still hasn't gotten that or even a focus summon. Leo admittedly stands out a bit less than Takumi, but Takumi is... well... he's his own little story pretty much.

  11. To be perfectly honest, it really feels like Intelligent Systems has been subtly advertising Camilla way more than the other Fates royals. She got a spot on the initial focus summon, and then she proceeded to have a Spring version while concurrently getting to participate in the second Voting Gauntlet. She's also on the title screen along with Takumi, even though Ryoma, Xander or even Corrin technically makes more sense there. Not to mention, I don't particularly have a problem about her design, because there's nothing inherently wrong about that body shape, but it's just that every cutscene ever feels the need to emphasize her proportions for some bizarre reason. I don't hate her just because she's popular, heck I don't really hate her at all for any reason whatsoever, but it does feel she's getting pushed onto us somewhat. I don't mind her getting her time to shine, but even I have to admit her overwhelming power here (She's beating everyone else combined by a mile) is just a smudge bit unhealthy for the gauntlet.

I'm actually a filthy bandwagoner because none of the characters interested me and the first score update made it clear no one could possibly give her a decent fight

  12. 11 minutes ago, Anacybele said:

Arcanite was the same with team Ephraim in the first gauntlet. It's not surprising. Though I'm surprised his/her (don't know the gender since he/she has it unlisted) obnoxiousness hasn't annoyed anyone since whenever I get obnoxious it DOES seem to annoy people...

Well, I don't think you're as bad as people make you out to be, honestly speaking. Your main thing seems to be complaining about Ike not showing up yet, which is a completely valid feeling and is extremely understandable since he's literally the most popular male character in the series. At least from my end, I don't actually find you annoying or obnoxious most of the times. It's only when you feel the need to repeatedly state how bad certain characters or games are that it kinda crosses into 'obnoxious' territory, at least for me. But being totally honest, you're really better about it the last few weeks/months, so I think you're completely fine as you are. I do actually think people target you a wee bit too much, but everyone has their own reasons I suppose. I can only speak for myself and my own opinion though, and some of them might have legitimate reasons, so yeah.

  13. 3 minutes ago, Arcanite said:

I thought the same. But then i said, "If Minnie loses to Cammy, at least wyverns still won"

Which is why you should join team Minerva, take a stand against the trollops and still technically be a winner!

I must say, I admire your unique persistence in recruiting new soldiers into Minerva's Army. It's really something else.

I guess ideal would be either the best possible competitive team built around Tiki (adult since that's the only one I've been able to pull), which according to Sire is something along the lines of a Tiki / Ephraim / Julia core with someone like Camilla or Ninian for the last slot. I have none of them except Tiki though lol.

Otherwise, I'd settle for just a comp made of my favorites, like some combination of Tiki / Robin / Ephraim / Lyn / Camilla-- out of whom I have... well two is better than one... haha...

I'm pretty sure you're just lucky, dude. I haven't dropped any money on this game yet (and likely won't, for the following reason), but my luck in getting people I want has been pretty marginal at best-- I have no faith that dropping any money on this game would accomplish anything except for me to be more disappointed than I already am when I don't get what I want lol.

Of my top wants (mentioned earlier) and all the other dragons/dark magic users who I'm aiming to collect, I've gotten Tiki and Robin (at their lowest possible rarities as well lol) and that's it. Of all the dragons I'm tryna collect, it took the free f!Corrin with Android to increase my dragon count to 2, and for dark mages I've at least been able to get all of them except Tharja-- though of course this means that all the good units of each of these types continue to elude me lol (fortunately I've at least been able to make A!Tiki pretty good... and at least Leo is a rare pull even if I have no interest in using him)...

tl;dr not everyone has your level of luck, dude. And like... I'm happy for you and all, but... yeah. Some people just can't get lucky. It's just a fact of life with anything based on chance like this.

Well, sorry if my post came off the wrong way. I was kind of just trying to bring up the possibility that you might get your desired units soon enough. I know it's ultimately up to chance in the end, but I thought it would be nice to give some encouragement. Maybe it was rather shallow of me, since it could be seen as me trying to give you false hope. Indeed, I suppose our 'luck' isn't really the same and perhaps I accidentally struck a sore point for you. So I'm really, really, sorry if it was rather insensitive towards your pulls.

And yeah, as you've said, everything is ultimately down to luck; there are those that are lucky and those that aren't. I do like to think you can improve your odds to some extent though, although this would in no way guarantee your desired unit of course. Maybe it's conceited of me to think as such, but I personally perceive my own luck as 'average'. I definitely don't have bad luck, but I do go out of my way to improve my odds as much as possible, if it can be done of course. I do several summon simulations beforehand until I get such a ridiculously bad spree that I like to think it makes it less likely my next actual pull would be so bad. I also make it a point to do pretty cumbersome calculations to see if I should pull 5 at one go or only pull specific colors (I don't use general calculations, I do my own when I'm given my colors at the summoning screen). I also don't pull from a banner unless it has enough focus characters I actually want. Of course, maybe I'm just simply lucky and some of the things I do is utterly pointless or makes a minimal difference. But on a personal level, it feels like they work for me, so I guess I kind of got carried away and made thoughtless suggestions towards you?

Well either way, sorry again since it kind of sounds like I might have been rather insensitive towards your luck.

    @Korath88 added you too ;)

I'm happy to swap Hector with any of Reinhardt, Kagerou, Michalis and Jeorge if they are more flexible with teams. Currently my Minerva is only LV30. Hopefully will get a few levels on her before this gauntlet is over.

Not sure if this has already been answered, but does anyone know if the flags will reset before the next battle starts? I was under the impression that they can be hoarded, if not, I'll be burning them too.

Everything indicates they can be hoarded. What's reset are the quests.
