    I disagree.

    Severa with Astra is amazing.

I got into Fire Emblem with Awakening, so I personally would miss some of the features old school FE fans scoff at like the marriage system and avatar creation. It makes me feel a little more involved in the story similar to Bethesda or Bioware RPG's. I'd rather see it kept in, but not have any major importance as it has before to where you can ultimately ignore pairing people if you really hate it. Maybe they don't need to include children this time around to make it so you won't even miss out on kids if you choose not to marry.

However, as far as the maps and gameplay and whatever else, I hope they do take some risks and change it up a bit like people are saying they tend to do when jumping between consoles.

    I agree.

The 3DS games are the best games in this series. (Save for Valentia.)

It'd be foolish to not emulate those.

Care to elaborate on why children were the "best part" of the new FE games, especially since in Awakening, they were broken to a point of unbalanced overpoweredness, and in Fates, they were practically shoved in so horrendously to the plot with the Deeprealms making everyone dimwit parents that the children may as well not be there at all and nothing different would happen in the plot?

Also, what "good stuff" are you talking about? I don't see how Echoes is "gonna suck", especially since there are actually notable differences, like stamina, supports (oh, that's one of the good stuff, just from an older style!), and the rewind feature. And that's to name a few.

Good stuff like Avatars, Children, and S-Ranks.

Children rock because you get total confirmation that you bang your waifu's. None of that cut to black shit. Also, from a gameplay standpoint, it's great, because it encourages minmaxing and other great things.

I think rather than being a center piece, like in Awakening and Fates, being a observer of the events taking place sounds much more interesting. Not like FE7 tactician, but participating in fights. A chronicler isn't a bad idea. And no children please, just bonus stats from being near each other is good enough.

    I disagree.

Children are one of the best parts of newer FE games.

It's part of why Echoes is gonna suck. They only tweaked it a little. They didn't add in any of the good stuff from newer entries.

I have my doubts now, since the trailer on youtube drop and Alm Grandpa said the stuff about pair up and archers all I see is flame wars and arguments and return to form all over YouTube. I admit I been trigger by some comments and even put my two scents in but come on! More than anything they were saying since it a remake it won't have modern fire  emblem game play.

    Yeah.

    This.

See what I meant? The remake is burning bridges, not building new ones.

Never played mother but I'm saying it isn't worth being there. It just seems random and seems to scew the conversation towards Mother instead of being about ppl's favorite game chars.

All this talk seems to be RPG chars and especially Nintendo Chars. Where's the love for chars like Ratchet & Clank? :D

Huge fan of Hsienn-Ko from Darkstalkers. Beowulf, Big Band, and Ms. Fortune are all amazing and hilarious. You blokes need to play more Skullgirls :3

Mah avatar is Terry Bogard from Fatal Fury, need I say more? (K' and B. Jennett are great, too)

    Dude!

    I recognize you from Skullheart!

Not to mention that us Star Wars fans, to use his Force Awakens example, are quite glad with how it turned out considering Episodes 1, 2 were terrible (they do have some good moments but bleh), and that Episode 3 was merely passable.

    Dude.

There are a lot of people that are starting to defend the prequels, now that TFA is out.

    It's SICKENING.

Game hate cycle I haven't heard of it but it does seem like every new game get hate he GBA fire emblem got it from the nes-snes and now the 3ds get it from the GBA and POR-RD crowd. But everything new get some hate.

The game hate cycle is very simple:

If a new game comes out for a beloved franchise, it's instantly met with hatred and disgust. It's shit upon, it's flaws are dramatized, and its made out to be an abomination.

Now. A few years pass. Another new title is released.

Suddenly, the game that was hated becomes a beloved treasure! It's now considered a gem, and that the hate was taken too far. The new game is now shit on, and compared to the older game, and people act like the older game was fine all along.

    Lather, rinse, repeat.

I think 'marketed' is your key word here and the answer to your question, actually; even if it's irrelevant to a LOT of her writing, it's a trope that is popular in Japan as far as I know, and having a character who wants the player character is one method of player empowerment, I guess. Makes the player think 'I am desirable' or whatever IDK man.

Marketing, though. It was what they thought was the most marketable, and I think they might have been right lol. even if it wasn't the most appealing aspect of her character.

The sad thing is it actually could have been an interesting way of further informing her character-- presumably the whole reason Tharja stalks Robin is something to do with Grima's influence-- but I guess the reason they couldn't go into detail there is because supporting too much with her too quickly would reveal things that the plot has to unveil....?? IDK man

I've talked about this with people on GameFAQ's, and I can almost guarantee that they were going for a "Tharja likes Robin because of Grima" thing.
