  1. I probably would have used Dart more if I had known before that you could find a free Ocean Seal in Living Legend. At least Bartre is performing well for me.
  2. Fates is an easy answer, but most of this wasted potential is solely from a story perspective. One problem is that the entire main premise of choosing between your blood family and the one you were raised with falls completely on its face due to the fact that you're not actually related to your supposed "blood family", killing whatever moral ambiguity the choice may have carried. As for the individual stories of each version: Birthright suffers more than anything else from being too typical/simplistic Conquest's premise of reforming a bad kingdom from the inside out is not delivered upon well enough as Corrin and her siblings do little subversive enough until near the very end, leading to an unsatisfying conclusion Revelation, by value of its very existence, completely invalidates the theme of conflict between two opposing kingdoms that Fates as a whole was constructed around Still, as subpar as Fates's story is, I can at least forgive it for fixing most of Awakening's balancing issues, though some fixes were better than others.
  3. "Is it really worth it to make such a comment about something so very trivial?" *crickets chirp*
  4. Wasn't this the entire purpose of Voting Gauntlets to begin with?
  5. I was just trying to emphasize how silly I personally find the idea of siding with a character for Feathers is. But hey, to each their own.
  6. All you people talking about Feathers... Meanwhile I got two full teams worth of decent 5-Star units without paying a cent on Orbs. (Still want Hector, though, so I can give my precious Sheena Distant Counter.)
  7. I agree. They could easily have cut out all of the Fates retainers (initially, at least) and I'm sure few people would have missed them. All that room could've been given to a decently sized cast of Jugdral characters who actually needed it more. (I'd also like to add that I would've preferred to get regular Charlotte in the roster at some point, because having her only available as a Bridal Blessings variant feels incredibly awkward. Too bad it probably wouldn't fix her face much.) Yeesh. It makes even the most diehard Jugdral Master Race adherents look tame in comparison. Though, it makes me wonder how they'd behave if one of their own characters was in one of these Gauntlets.
  8. You think Fire Emblem's fandom is toxic? I guess you could say it's like Fire Emblem's fandom, but somehow even worse. Also with more low-quality OCs. Lots and lots of them.
  9. This is literally the anguish of every hardened veteran summed up in an entire picture. It especially hurts to think of the ones (who don't like Camilla) who forsook whatever personal integrity they had and sided with her solely for material gain.
  10. Did it really? Hm. I dunno. Maybe I just underestimate the power of the older fanbase in matters like this.
  11. Yes. Smite her breasts of evil with Ike's mighty Ragnell. That came out wrong. Maybe I should just not. How do you know that Lyn wouldn't have been cheesed out by multipliers? How do you know that Camilla wouldn't have gotten an even bigger (and more depressing) victory if multipliers weren't a thing?
  12. Well, darn. I figured Hector probably wouldn't make it in the end despite his promising victory over Chrom. The worst part is that even if Hector did/does somehow beat Ike, he'd probably end up getting eaten alive by Camilla's bosoms in the final round. Or something to that effect.
  13. Welcome, Saith. Pray tell, do you have a moment to talk about our Lord and Savior Marty?
  14. Don't forget Shiro. He's also a Spearfighter like Oboro. As for Oni Chieftains, I always thought of them as Fates's version of the Warrior class as slightly tankier alternatives to Berserkers with access to a ranged secondary weapon. I would like to see Warriors come back, though.
  15. I'm sure replacing Camilla with Bartre riding a gargoyle would actually make a lot of older fans quite happy Because, y'know, Camilla
  16. I myself generally don't watch much anime (or most television for that matter) because I would rather spend that time playing video games or doing something else productive. Still, there are a few that I like. One personal recommendation of mine is Outlaw Star, which is basically about mercenaries who go on a treasure hunt in space. The characters and story are all quite enjoyable and it's relatively short (only about 30 episodes), so it won't take up too much of your time. You may need to look on streaming sites for good quality episodes. Most episodes can be found on YouTube, but they've probably been sped up to avoid getting copyright-struck. Also note that both censored (for airing on Toonami) and uncensored versions of the dub exist. Sgt. Frog is another big favorite of mine, though it's much longer and I was never able to finish it. This one is a hilarious comedy about a group of frog-like aliens who get stranded on Earth and struggle to conquer it as they live with the humans. Unlike Outlaw Star, most episodes can be found on YouTube without major alterations. Better yet, there is not much in the way of an overarching plot, meaning it can be watched more casually if you so please. If it's anime movies you're interested in, Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem is a must-watch if you like Daft Punk. It's more or less a giant music video for their album Discovery and can thus be found on YouTube split up by individual songs. Make sure you watch them in the album's track order!
  17. "Warriors from across the history of Fire Emblem" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA-- Please forgive me if I accidentally start a thread-derailing argument. I just wanted to be funny.
  18. I'm gonna support Hector because he's the only one of these characters that I even remotely care about.
  19. So anyone who's seen Ghast Station's Fire Emblem: Bloodlines hack will know that it includes numerous new classes used by the various anthropomorphic animal races (Choron, Liaoni, Valgriph, Calcos, etc.) that inhabit its continent. Which got me thinking: how well could traditional fantasy races (dwarves, elves, orcs, etc.) be implemented into the Fire Emblem formula? There are a couple of ways we could go about this. The first is that these races could get their own classes with differences from human ones, such as that they could have access to more different types of weapons than unpromoted human classes at the expense of, say, a second promotion branch. For example, Dwarves could start out with both Swords and Axes, but could only promote to Dwarf Chiefs and would not gain any new weapons. Whereas a human Mercenary would only start out with Swords, but has a choice between two different promotions that each grant access to a new weapon. Another way to go about it is limiting the number of classes and promotions, but allowing multiple races to have the same class. For example, Myrmidons would be the only Sword-wielding infantry base class, but the player could encounter Myrmidons of other races besides Human. Different races would also have their own innate stat/growth bonuses/penalties, such as Speed and Resistance over Strength and Defense for Elves or Skill and Defense over Speed and Resistance for Dwarves. The chief problems I would see with adding other races is that (1) they'd feel somewhat generic since so many other medieval fantasy franchises have them, and (2) they might just make things more complicated than they really need to be. But I wanna know what you guys think. How would you feel about Intelligent Systems adding more fantasy races into the next game?
  20. I think the reason people are obsessed with LTC is that it comes across (at least from FE4-7) as how IS wants you to play. Otherwise, the game wouldn't judge your tactical abilities by how small your turn counts are
  21. I'm sure many of us did. That was before we saw how bad the writing really was
  22. I once had recurring dreams in which I found myself jumping/flying great distances through the air, unable to move my arms.
  23. I've never been able to get attached to many Fire Emblem characters outside of their abilities as units. That being said, I'm a huge sucker for tanky armored units (because I hate relying on the RNG for evasion) and even more so for axe-wielding infantry, especially Brigands/Barbarians (which IS tends to be very stingy with, natch). Heck, half of the reasons I would consider Sheena from Mystery of the Emblem/Heroes my one-and-only Fire Emblem waifu have to do with her being an armored unit who wields axes. Other favorites of mine include Marty, Gonzalez, and Rinkah.
