  1. Awakening's Map Design (to the tune of Fireflies by Owl City)

    (Instrumental Opening)

You would not believe your eyes

    If ten million enemy guys

All triggered as you walked into range

The fact they all move at once

When you're only in range of one

Is frustrating and really kinda strange

I'd like to make myself believe!

    That FE13's well made

It's my first game and to this day it's one that I enjoy

But its maps too often make me wanna rage!

    'Too often do I resort

As I place units into forts

To looking up the reinforcement times ('forcement times...)

    A vortex inside my head

One mistake and my healer's dead

Sometimes I just wanna scream out loud and cry

I'd like to make myself believe!

But its maps too often make me wanna rage!

Let me call up the designing team

Let me have someone to hear my screams

Who made the Dancer so easy to kill

And don't start me on Lunatic+ Skills!

    To ten million enemy guys

I'm weird 'cause I hate AIs

Who fluctuate between dumb and cheap

But at the end it's just a game

    Nobody needs to take blame

So I take a break and put the DS on...sleep.

There's more where this came from. 🙂

Uhh...  @KnightOfNohr, we have a problem.  We already have another boss character who uses most of Hugh's head and body.

EDIT: Actually, this may be acceptable now.  Your body is less similar to KK's than I initially thought.

Also, @Fenreir here's the list of portraits:

If we ever meet, we can have a conversation about how I’m copying his hand gesture. 🙂

  3. Awakening has excellent characters and supports, but awful level design and character balance. It's still playable, but it can be really frustrating at times. The story is nothing special.

Fates has great mechanics (best in the series, in my opinion) but some of the levels aren't great, and I trust you know about the story's reputation.

Echoes has a pretty good story, but no level design.

    answers to the title

    1) spoiler alert: it isn't

    2) probably PoR and RD, and maybe New Mystery

Fates in general has the best gameplay SYSTEM of the series, in my opinion. I’m not sure if any of them have the best GAMEPLAY. Birthright’s map design is...nothing special, really. Revelation has a few good chapters, but most are gimmicky and kind of frustrating. Conquest’s levels fluctuate between “great” and “AAHHHHGGG!!!”

From what I’ve seen, I’d say Path of Radience is the best. Good basic system, largely good level design, and very good character balance. Maybe it’s too easy, but for someone like me, that’s just what the doctor ordered.

  5. Fates actually had a great setup. It was just kind of wasted by poor writing.

Garon? Make him an interesting take on the classic "evil overlord" by making him a legitimately caring, if strict, father.

Xander? ...I mean, he's basically fixed by the last point.

Camilla? Less creepy on Birthright, and on the other routes: MAKE HER SUPPORT WITH CORRIN ABOUT THE CONCUBINE WARS. This is an incredibly interesting background event that more or less composes the whole of her character, but instead of talking about it, they have her conversation with the MAIN CHARACTER...whatever that was.

Leo? ...he was actually done pretty well. There's a reason he's my favorite. Elise, too.

  6. I’m not sure...when I was twelve, my humor consisted entirely of bad puns. Also, “Go Home Hannalee. You’re Drunk.”

As for Hector’s age, his C-Support with Eliwood states that they’ve been sparring every two months since they were twelve, and have reached 30 matches. 60 months divided by twelve is equal to 5 years, which would make him 17 at the least. Still kind of young, but hey, it’s anime.

  7. I personally find the humor to be a little hit-or-miss. The "royal" replacement isn't that good, and the Japanese honorifics fluctuate in comedy, but "boy" to "bro" works great.

    Spoiler

I think the find/replace humor is at its best with Nergrinch and Archsage Santa.

You're getting Guy next chapter, who is pretty great. As in, access to all weapon types great.

  8. Note: Feel free to move this topic if it’s in a bad place.

Sometimes, (mostly in the newer games) you read a support conversation and think, “that was bad.” Whether it’s a P/C that doesn’t take the Non-Determinate parent into account enough, an S-Support that comes off as awkward or loveless *cough*FredrickxCordelia*cough*, or just a support that had incredible potential, but eschews interesting character development for the purposes of being “funny.” Well, as an aspiring author who has been thinking about these supports for a while, now, I thought I’d take a stab at being better than IntSys.

    List: (Requests accepted)

    Henry and Noire P/C C-A

    Corrin and Camilla C-A

    Hinata and Oboro S

  9. I haven’t played many FE games. However, out of FE7, FE8, FE10, Awakening, Fates, and Echoes...I’m gonna have to go with Sacred Stones. It’s just kind of...unremarkable. It is OK in almost every aspect. For example: Radiant Dawn and Echoes had very strong stories. 7 and Awakening had incredible character interactions, and Fates has probably the best gameplay system out of any game in the series so far. However, they all have their flaws, as well. Echoes has boring map design. Radiant Dawn and FE7 have poor character balance. Fates’ story is atrocious, and Awakening is the most unbalanced game of all time in every way. However, Sacred Stones is just...average. Gameplay is OK, but nothing special. Character balance is good, but the characters themselves don’t really stick out. Story is unoriginal, but not in a bad way. Nothing really sticks out to me. I have, on a few occasions, forgot the Scared Stones existed. That is not the mark of a good game, for me.

  10. What are everybody's plans for the students' class paths? I have Brigand in mind for Edelgard (I'm getting a bit tired of Sword Lords, and I love the idea of this cool-headed, dignified lady punching people in the face), and either Thief or Archer for Bernadetta. (I wanted to make her a sword wielder, but sadly, A: She's terrible with them, B: Hero is male-only.) Of course, if Wyvern Riders are in the game...she's going straight over to that class. I've got a good feeling about Ferdinand as a Mercenary->Hero, and Hubert can just go over to Mage. Byleth will probably be a Mage as well, and Dorothea's class will be heavily dependent on the way they're doing refreshers, if at all.
