  1. Ok, the Chapter 9 clear in 3 turns is good. But it's really important for you to change the title of this thread as it's misleading to say it's a genuine LTC run on console with no tools.

You casually get +4 mag talk bonuses for Felicia as if it's an easy thing to do, use bonus items, RNG abuse things with "around" 1/70000 chance of success which is pretty horrific, and casually rig My Castle conversations for support points (what supports are you going for? Niles x Camilla would take several years on console). None of these things would help with an LTC run on console apart from bonus items, and using Felicia with Disrobing Gale requires RNG abuse anyway.

So yes, while you did a good job on this clear, and feel free to play as you want, but I honestly think that clearing Chapter 9 without all these things in more turns is much harder, since you rig misses and use bonus items and rig support points and get talk bonuses as you need them.

  2. Basically no one thinks Takumi is high tier. Although yes he is excellent on the player phase, most enemy combat generally takes place during the enemy phase, in which he is completely useless. It's important for units to be able to fight during the enemy phase too. So Takumi would be mid tier at the very best.

  3. I allow extremely limited Battle Rewards (the Disrobing Gale and Raider Axe) in my run since they save turns in Chapter 7/8 by allowing you to reclass to Corrin and Jakob to Wyvern Rider and Malig Knight respectively very early while having access to weapons (you can't build both the Staff Shop and the Dusk Armory before Chapter 7). As far as I'm concerned, this is no different than allowing for the Renown Second Seal and Orsin's Hatchet to get used as is common practice in Awakening LTCs.

If you disregard my no Lottery/Forge rule, you can probably get around the use of the Disrobing Gale here by giving Nyx a sufficiently forged crit-tome or something. In fact you don't even need that; IIRC, Corrin gets a DS on the one combat that Nyx takes part in, so just trading Nyx a Mag Tonic instead of a Spd Tonic and giving her a +2/3 Fire tome would be sufficient to get the job done.

The difference is that you can get Renown points by playing though the game normally (no normal person LTCs a game on their first playthrough of the game). It takes no extra time at all to have enough Renown points for the Second Seal, does it? After doing a casual playthrough of Awakening, you can go ahead and do an LTC run with enough Renown points. But you need internet access and a lot of free time to get Battle/Visitor points, which is contrary to the purpose of an LTC run.

  4. If current LTCs are okay with grinding Avatar supports, it only follows that with access to more focused manipulation you can benefit from grinding non-MU supports as well.

I think there's a difference. Grinding Avatar supports is easy to do in real life and only would take like a week for S rank. Grinding Niles x Camilla would take several years in real life.

I really don't see why he just doesn't allow path bonuses, DLC grinding and such. He should do it.

  5. Topic in question:

    http://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=64535

At least on SF, you're the only dissenter. If it's different on Reddit, you're free to link the thread in question.

However, there's nothing that says "no support grinding", and I'd be crazy enough to do that anyway, though it would be through really easy My Castle battles. So even if YOU don't think it's cool (that's fine, BTW), don't imply that everyone else does (that's not cool).

Have you even bothered to read the thread? I was referencing the thread, not Reddit.

Support grinding is still grinding, so if you allow support grinding, why not xp/gold grinding/bonus item etc ?

However, i wonder if you can finish the game with this team/setup :o

    Indeed.

  6. Note that this 3 turn requires use of the Disrobing Gale (for Nyx), in addition to either a Mag talk bonus for Jakob or a reasonably forged Fire tome (like +2, maybe +3 because you can't build both the Mess Hall and Forge at this point but at the same time you don't really need the Armory yet).

That's also illegitimate since you're allowing visitor bonuses (or getting Disrobing Gale via My Castle convos which is also not allowed, it's not replicable). Can't you get a Boots and a Rescue staff via visitor/battle bonuses?

Neat, so four-turning with the Rescue is possible after all.

Here's a video of it from someone who posts LTC vids on Reddit.

I keep all my chapter saves, so I can go back and make a video if you want to see it (same goes for Chapter 11).

Chapter 12 seems easy to do in 2 turns actually, but let's see if you legitimately did Chapter 11 in 2 turns. That would be interesting.

  7. Well, it is legitimate, since supports can be grinded even in Conquest in MyCastle battles. So all you need is free skills castle with uneqipped units (there is at least one of these in top battle rankings for Europe).

I personally think that for the purpose of LTC grinding supports in the way i mentioned is pretty legitimate. Thus hacking them is also OK since you just save 30 minutes or so of finding and grinding respective MyCastles.

You are right, but from what I have seen on Reddit from Gwimpage and Chiki, in Fates LTCs My Castle battles are banned and DLC battles are banned too. So the only way to do this on console would be to wait for several years. Not even joking. So this is illegitimate and practically impossible on console.

Suppose you can do it once every 50 attempts you reset. Camilla x Niles needs 15 conversations if it's 1 point per conversation (I guess they gain points in 11 and 12 too, but ignoring this for now) then it would take 50 x 15 = 750 days, or over 2 years. LOL

    This is just cheating.

  8. There is no cap on support growth at My Castle. So I endured an extremely painful clock resetting process to get Camilla x Niles enough "talk" events so that their supports would build over chapters 11-13. The pain was slightly lessened by the fact that Camilla and Niles were paired up during my clears of Chapters 11 and 12 (you can't get to Hinoka/Ryoma in 2 turns without the bonus movement), but it still took over a week's worth of effort (and putting in a good few hours a day doing this... sadness). Note that this can't be automated due to the fact that their positions on the My Castle screen are random (or I suppose could be automated it if you found pointers to their locations on the map, but figuring out where that is stored seems difficult and I didn't try)

Near the end of this process, I realized that I ended up farming a decent number of Seeds of Trust while doing this, and that was extremely helpful in reducing the amount of time it took to get them from an A rank to an S rank. If I ever do something like this again, I'm probably just going to hack in the required number of Seeds of Trust to do the whole thing since this is pretty tedious and I've already proven that it can be done legitimately once so there's no need to waste time resetting endlessly again.

That's not legitimate. That would take years to do on console. At least the Jakob x Avatar S support in Chapter 7 takes a week or so in real life. Just because it's possible doesn't mean it's legitimate, and you seem surprisingly comfortable with hacking things.

And I don't see how you were able to 2 turn 11 and 12. MoogleBoss got 3 turns for 11 and 12 with bonus movement:

  9. Just tested this out, and it appears there is no cap. I raised F Corrin and Jakob from nothing up to S support right after getting Jakob in My Castle (Chapter 6) and got them married before starting Chapter 7.

The legitimate way to use My Castle by building support points is to wait several days. You can't just do DLC maps or edit some hexes to get My Castle conversations which is probably what you did given that you said you tested it out after only 2 days! It takes days to test it out, so obviously you did something wrong. It would at least take 2 weeks to marry Corrin and Jakob if you had an average of one conversation a day.

A couple months ago, I waited a week (I did not visit anyone or do any DLC maps) to get Hinoka and Corrin from B to A support. I was curious about the mechanics as well. I was on Chapter 13 or something. I got Hinoka from C to B in one conversation in the 13 base. It takes 4 more points for A. I managed to get them around a conversation a day on average, so seven conversations after they got B support. Their level did not increase despite my getting more conversations than needed. Then I did a DLC map, and it worked.

As far as I know, doing DLC maps and visiting other people's castles and battling them would be against the rules of Fates LTCs.

Yeah, there is no cap. I grind to max them all out asap because I need all the edge I can get on lunatic.

Did you use DLC maps/visit other people's castles and battle them? That would explain why it seems there is no cap.

  10. Can't respond in full detail right now (will edit soon) as I'm trying to get something done within the hour, but:

You're misunderstanding what I'm saying. It's pointless and inefficient (and probably not even possible) to have a script run the whole map at once if the strat has a reasonably likely chance of failing on the first turn. Thus the more sensible thing to do is to run the turn 1 (or whatever) script many times, generate a ton of bookmarks at the start of turn 2 (where the first turn has been cleared successfully), and then iterate from there.

Um no, lol. You don't understand my argument. In Awakening, you HAVE TO script run the whole map at once because the RNs in Awakening stay the same if you bookmark. You CANNOT change the RN of a map by making a bookmark and reloading it. You HAVE TO script run the whole map at once.

The automated resetting tool you describe would work for Radiant Dawn, which you have already attempted to do, though. Why? Because the RNs of the map do change when you make a suspend state and reload the map. But this is impossible with Awakening, because you cannot use your automated resetting tool on a bookmark. You'd get the same results over and over again with your automated resetting tool because every bookmark has the same RNs upon loading!

Therefore, we can infer that you are lying about the automated resetting tool. There is no such thing. I am surprised KTT hasn't pointed this out given that he has more knowledge than probably anyone in the world about Awakening's mechanics, but w/e.

Further, you refuse to give me a printscreen of your tool, which makes it even more obvious that you're lying. Your run is not only illegimate as a proper LTC run because it uses tools to begin with, but it's also even more illegitimate since you won't tell us what tools you are actually using. My guess is you use the Awakening save editor to hack your unit's stats to make RNG abusing a lot easier. Given your previous history of lying (I looked into this), and the ease with which you can get 1/100000 clears, I'm surprised anyone takes any of your runs seriously at this point.

  11. Citra doesn't have save states, but you can use the bookmarks effectively as save states. I tried implementing an alpha-version of actual save states into Citra to speed up the process, but they weren't stable enough to be effective (they crash every now and then)

With regard to the tools I use, it's basically similar to the stuff I use for the RD playthrough: automated scripting for resets. I can't properly share the stuff because it's not packaged properly, and in fact is even worse than the RD stuff because of things like not having save states, not having debug mode for memory watching, among other things. In additional to the packaging stuff, there are also problems with uniformity, I/O, path/OS stuff, administrative privileges, "idiotproofing" (this is actually a technical term lol) etc. that are either too cumbersome for me to deal with or that I don't have the programming expertise to deal with.

I could write at length about these issues but I figure that the majority of people here either wouldn't understand it or wouldn't care; if you (meaning anyone who reads this) want to know more, feel free to PM me and I can give you a very detailed explanation of all of the issues with distributing my "tools," and perhaps you can even give me some ideas to resolve them!

How about showing us a printscreen of your tool in use? Then we could get a better idea of how it works.

I generally run the thing in phases, so I get a bunch of bookmarks at the end of turn 1, and then proceed to do turn 2, etc

Bookmarks would only help you if RNs changed every bookmark. They don't. They remain the same every time you load the map. Funnily enough, no one knows how to burn RNs in Awakening. I just googled this: http://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=49848

So, literally, bookmarking is worthless for the tool you mentioned which has "automated resetting." If you keep resetting a bookmark that's not going to help you because each bookmark in Awakening has the same RNs. Unlike in Radiant Dawn. I highly doubt that you would know how the RN system in Awakening works for bookmark abuse given that no one else has ever figured it out and AFAIK you have never played this game prior to this run.

Tl;dr bookmarking in Awakening keeps the same RNs so you cannot use your "automated resetting tool" for it.

  12. For Ruadath 1 in 100,000 is a walk through the park. He did much worse and managed to pull it off. Sure, you will NEVER get that lucky with a regular 3DS.

Would really love to see some videos of these maps working.

You mean "for any hacker." Being able to hack doesn't make him anything special at all. 1 in 1 billion is doable for any hacker, easily. I don't see why you have to put him on a pedestal because he can hack games on his emulator? So what? This guy took a day break from his Lunatic LTC just to do a Prologue 2 turn which should take about 5000 hours, or more than half a year. That he is hacking is obvious and I don't see why you think it's impressive that he can hack.

Look, anyone can feel free to do a challenge run involving hacking (is that even challenging? part of the difficulty, it seems to me, from an LTC run is being able to come up with reliable strategies). But just don't pretend that this run is legitimate when it involves hacking. This run still can be cool if you just put "FE13 Lunatic Hacked LTC" or "FE13 Lunatic LTC with Hacking" or something like that. That would be cool too. At least admit to it!

In speedruns which I'm more familiar with, for example, in the SDA, real speedruns don't have tool assistance and tool-assisted speedruns are a different beast altogether. The latter are still cool and interesting, but they're a different category from real speedruns.

  13. While being sad about getting stuck in the Lunatic run, I realized the 2-turn Prologue actually had significantly better odds than I was expecting due to me failing to account for stuff, so not counting Robin's 2 levels, the odds for success are roughly 1 in 100,000, which is very doable.

    QUer6iD.png

Not planning on pursuing this any further for the moment, however.

Are you serious? It's only very doable if you're a hacker. If an attempt takes on average around 3 minutes, that's about 300000 minutes or 5000 hours wasted on attempts to cut 1 turn on the Prologue.

I don't browse or sign on this forum very much apart from things like look at LTC playthroughs and the recent translation patch and such, but it's very sad to see LTC playthroughs nowadays resort to mysterious hacking nowadays because of your strange OCD obsession with hacking for the lowest turncounts that aren't practical even in the slightest on console. At first I thought it was cool, but now it's just getting boring.

  14. DId you check if the same rom and patch work on a computer (just in case you patched it wrong?)

Oops. It's still an entierly different reference (to Hinduism as opposed to norse mythology).

Yes, it works fine on my computer on Snes9x. It just doesn't work with Snes9x Euphoria R5 on the PSP.

  15. The patch and ROM don't work on my PSP with the Snes9x Euphoria emulator, both soft modded or hard modded, it just crashes. To be more specific, it freezes indefinitely soft-patched but hard-patched it just turns off my PSP. Maybe because it becomes an 8 MB rom? Is there no simple fix available? I'd really appreciate a fix for this since I'd much prefer to play FE4 on a handheld rather than the PC, but I understand if this would be too difficult for you guys.

  16. Hey there. This is an another interesting thread from you, but what tools do you use to RNG abuse? It might be helpful for the community if you shared it!

You said the Prologue alone had a 1/20000 chance of succeeding not including good level ups for Robin. I guess you don't just sit there and reset over and over again, right? Do you just edit in good level ups and critical hits with Citra or what?

The safer thing to do is to give Robin the Bronze Sword (so that she has a good dodge chance) and attack the boss from up close, and then get a Dual Strike on one out of two rounds of combat with him. It's just that the RNG happened to favor this alternative approach in my clear.

AFAIK Citra doesn't support save states though, so I'm not sure how you would know this.

  17. It actually shouldn't be terrible to do in the sense that the GBA RNG is determined by a 32-bit linear-feedback shift register, which can easily be calculated in advance (as you guys see with the lua script), so I can probably dump something like the first million or so RNs into an array (and I probably won't even need that many). After that, the first 3 actions that occur (after burning some number of RNs that I've yet to determine) in order are the fighter charging Alan, and then two fighters charging Wolt. Their paths are all straightforward, so only 1 RN is burnt between each move, which makes it fairly simple to predict. Then I can just right some simple code to compare the values and iterate through the array until I find something that works.

All in all, it's a process that shouldn't take longer than a few days (if even that) if I put my mind to it, but meh, effort. I'll probably get around to it eventually.

EDIT: And the next person to move is the archer. I'm not sure what path they'll take, but it's likely that it can be easily fit into this framework as well. And to prove my point further, I just opened up an Excel spreadsheet and generated the first 10000 numbers with like 5 minutes worth of effort so I'm confident I could carry this out if I actually wanted to.

Wow, this would be really impressive. If it wouldn't take you much effort, could you please do this playthrough? I want to see it.

  18. What theory? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that Soren is extremely fragile and he can't take more than a couple hits with a bexp dump and a Seraph Robe dump on fixed mode. This is just common sense; there's no theory involved here.

Assuming level 15 Soren, he has 25 HP and 4 def (lol). 32 HP with the Seraph Robe. The enemies have around 14-16 might in Chapter 8 (go look at the enemy stats) and he gets 3HKOed by enemies with more than 15 might.

And isn't bexp abusing not allowed in drafts anyway? Espinosa already pointed this out. Isn't it 50 bexp per chapter? Further proof that drafters are liars.

  19. Yes, please explain how a level 13-15 unpromoted Soren in fixed mode (meaning horrible durability) is reliably promoting in Chapter 8. Guess what? It's impossible without a crapload of RNG abuse.

This is exactly why drafters aren't taken seriously: they tend to lie about their turncounts and RNG abuse all the time.

  20. I think he's entitled to those kills if he really does perform as Hawk King says he does. So I'd reject that argument.

But it's worth noting that Soren has crap for durability, especially without RNG abuse and in fixed mode, so I seriously doubt you can get him enough kills to promote in Chapter 8, even if you bexp him up to level 15. You'd probably need to rig a bunch of misses and stuff to do that. So I honestly need to see this strategy being done.

As Espinosa pointed out, ignoring Hawk King's idea for a second, Ilyana is probably better than Soren due to being able to siege tome abuse better than him thanks to that handy +hit support bonus. I believe it's already been proven that Ilyana is a preferable option over Soren due to that.

  21. Actually, I changed my mind on Soren. Hawk King definitely has a great point, but it's only a great point if all this is true in practice. It seems hypothetical for now.

Hawk King is also wrong on Chapter 25 being 2 turned with Vantage Soren because you can't get Vantage in Chapter 15 while also 2 turning it. So it all depends on a 2 turn of 24, and the unlikely 3 turn of 23 with Soren.
