    Spriter's Resource

On the Spriters Resource, they have this little space called the Spriters Dictionary, which contains some helpful definitions, tutorials, and tips. It's a bit more general than what many here would need, but you never know if you might learn something useful from it. http://www.spriters-resource.com/community/showthread.php?tid=13868
  2. Looking through your work, it seems you have some problems with banding, and some of your anti-aliasing could stand to be improved (a few of these problems could be taken out at the same time). There are also a few cases of pillow-shading here and there. Reference
  3. Oooh, hidden sexism. But anyway, yeah, she's just letting go of the handle. I'm thinking of having the male Archer do that, too, since it looks kind of silly for him to go forward like that. I'll leave the "actively pushing the handle forwards" to the Snipers, I think. EDIT: Now they both have slippery fingers! I'm also thinking I'll have to turn the Snipers around (so they have their chests towards the camera, instead of their backs) so the animations can be both awesome and not awkward.
  4. @Seph, that's a good idea. also, did some work on the female Archer
  5. I guess we should just keep the "large armies with more general orders" to the RTS genre.
  6. Hmmm. I'm not so sure firing three times would be good, because then it'd make no sense why it wouldn't also use 3x as much ammo (and since this would likely be operating off of FEGBA ballistas, misses also use ammo, so we don't have that loophole to fall through). My current idea for the crit is to simply add some extra effects, such as dust and a big "fwing" looking motion blur for the bolt. I really can't think of much else (other than stupidly ridiculous things like the ballista actually being thrown and tilting backwards or something). But yes, the first dodge is for the Archer, the second is for the Sniper. @B★S & BlindArcher, I couldn't really think of anything less ridiculous other than simply editing the Archer's dodge. Also, added this to the first post: I'm not so good with bigger pieces.
  7. ...I've used that title before, too... So I figured I should start a spriting topic here. Because I never get many crits on my FE-related sprites at TSR (for example, if everyone remembers that female pirate, I could have likely gotten it to look better if I had actually gotten more crits from people who care about the style). So yeah. 8. I'd say to use a different color for the shoulder pads. As it they are now, you could just say they're ivory-colored. Otherwise, my other crit is that the cloak should probably wrap around his neck a bit more, especially on the right side (his left). Right now, his neck looks really long thanks to that space on the right side, but you could give the illusion that it isn't so long just by having the cloak take up more of that space.
  9. The gameplay doesn't have to change. I just think it'd be more interesting if it did, so such a game wouldn't simply be a reskin. That'd be almost like Nintendo re-releasing Wind Waker with Twilight Princess graphics. Anyways, regarding generics, if they didn't want to change the gameplay too much, they could just do something like FE10's generic unit control (the yellow guys). Actually, a game centered around that would be pretty interesting, and it wouldn't require the player to command every single unit personally.
  10. I like this idea, though its gameplay kind of reminds me of SCII: Wings of Liberty. As for an FE game starring a villain, or at least a "not-good-guy", I think it could be an interesting plot change. However, I find it unlikely that IS would ever make such a game, since it would kind of go against the "let's all be friends and be happy" philosophy of the previous games. What is a bit more interesting to me is how this could influence the gameplay. I suppose the player might have more generic units, money might be less of a problem, and so on.

Oh yeah, imgur.com is another free image-hosting site I've used now and again. No account needed.
  13. For me, it's totally the GBA style. It's just so more "stylish" and "cool" than every other style in the series. I mean, if I wanted boring, cut-and-dry animations showing the characters simply duking it out, I'd probably be playing something else (maybe that one Civ clone that I forgot the name of), and that's essentially what the DS version is, not to mention that their movements are generally a lot less flashy; even so, having an extra animation for double hits was one nicety, I suppose, if not quite necessary. As for the SNES animations, they were okay, though also somewhat cut-and-dry compared to the GBA anims, and I found the palettes to be incredibly ugly (almost as bad as Super Mario World's, oh gosh); though having different weapons actually look different was pretty nifty (though also somewhat unnecessary, imo). Then we have the ol' NES animations. I actually liked them better than the SNES ones, simply because of what they did within their color limitations.
  14. *Burp* Here, have a lazy edit. I can only wonder what Girl-Colm ever saw in this guy.
  15. Heh, I kinda figured that, though I occasionally run into some TSR folks here and there. Anyways, thanks for the warm welcome, everybody. It's got me all fired up!

A note on imageshack: they've recently made it so, unless you have an account, your image will not be viewable on all sites. I don't know if they've since removed this policy (it was enacted earlier this year), though. Also, imageshack images aren't removed after a certain amount of time, but they are removed if the image is inactive for a certain amount of time... I think... I use min.us. No account is needed, and its links work everywhere. Note, however, that, unlike imageshack, min.us will not automatically convert .tiffs to .pngs (if you use those).
  17. If anyone knows me from anywhere else, they might recognize that title. I like to use it a lot. Anyway, I'm a programmer/spriter who has found himself recently creating a lot of Fire Emblem related things. I wasn't really planning on joining an FE board, since I'm more of an on-off fan, but here I am anyways. It's probably all due to bwdYeti's sprite work on FE7x that I've had much interest in FE sprites at all.
