  1. Blazing Sword:

The axe duo, because I've been gaining a soft spot for fighters over the years due to how often they get shafted, and because the game is surprisingly lance heavy at points.

    Shadow Dragon:

Pretty much everyone, given that no one is invincible, most units are competent at best and competent cannon fodder at worst.

    Awakening:

Is Ricken considered bad? He's never my best magic user in the game, but he always comes out competent at worst, and a competent mage in Awakening can still do a ton of damage. While not an amazing character, I do think he is overhated in the personality department, and for the wrong reasons to boot.

Laurent is a good mage in a game filled with good mages, so it easy for him to come off as redundant. He can still become a magical nuke, however, and I've exploited his early appearance and quick support with Lucina so many times that it's become somewhat of a personal running gag. Laurent is also tied for the position of favorite Fire Emblem character in the personality department, thanks to his studious yet helpful character and manner of speech which I always love reading.

    Fates (Conquest):

Arthur. I used him entirely because of his voice acting and lines, which never failed to get a smile out of me. I became a lot more appreciative of that aspect during the second half of the game, given how frustrating, if fair, I found Conquests difficulty to be. While his personal skill is more of a liability than an asset early on, the moment I promoted him into a Hero and he got a boost in skill, Arthur had a near permanent 20% chance to crit, increasing his usefulness exponentially. Arthur is also my favorite Fates character, thanks to his earnest desire to help others, steadfast attitude towards justice while not forcing his belief upon others, and how he never lets his unluckiness keep him down.

    Shadows of Valentia:

I've often heard Clive be called a bad unit, but in practice I find he's pretty well rounded, and thanks to Echoes ability to deploy everyone, he can still contribute to battles. Yeah, he won't be amazing, but he's not dead weight either.

Lukas and Forsyth as knights, because I actually deploy them near the front lines, keep them moving towards the front lines, and let their high defense and strength do their job.

    Three Houses:

Pretty much all the non-student characters, thanks to the optional battles being such a fun way to bring them up to speed, and because attacking monsters several levels lower than the recommended number adds a nice challenge to the game without having to play on Maddening.

  2. Chording is a technique in minesweeper with the mouse cursor performed by pressing but not releasing the right mouse button to flag a square. Then drag the mouse with the right button still pressed down to a number that is fully flagged, then with the right mouse button still held down, press and release the left mouse button to clear the fully flagged number. It should be noted that this is most practical on a 1 since it only requires 1 flag to reveal up to 7 empty spaces, whereas a 7 would require seven flags when a single click would reveal just as much.

What really came to mind but wouldn't work for the forum game:

From Sweet Home, though SomecallmeJohnny is the one that got the joke stuck in my head.

You are forced to make the brawler/grappler designs for the next Fire Emblem games, and it is NOT easy.

The jokes on you because I already have a multitude of ideas of what a hand-to-hand fighter class looks like! Now I just need to sharpen my drawing skills so that the modelers and animators actually get an idea of what I'm talking about...

It doesn't affect my thoughts on the story (for the most part), but I find it morbidly hilarious how much attention Three Houses draws to the terrible things people do to get a crest when in gameplay they are hilarious inconsequential most of the time and could be removed without altering the game all that much. Even the legendary weapons aren't that special when compared to previous examples in the series, with their background being the only thing that really sets them apart.

  5. Normal is a good choice if you want to play it safe and get an idea of how the mechanics work, though as mentioned earlier it is rather easy to create overpowered units on this difficulty, even by accident. If you want a better challenge, I would recommend grinding sparingly, if at all. Hard is more difficult and enemies actually have similar skills to your own units, though unfortunately it can also get pretty egregious with ambush spawns. Don't be afraid to look up online when and where reinforcements arrive, because the game does a poor job about warning the player about them beyond "this map has reinforcements". Lunatic is pretty infamous for how often the player has to exploit the more broken aspects of the game in order to survive, so I don't recommend starting on that mode.

Awakening lacks any sort of turnwheel/divine pulse mechanic, so if you relied on that in the past,  don't want to be permanently punished for making a mistake while learning about how the game works, and/or don't want to being screwed over by reinforcements, it might be a good idea to give casual a try. Classic isn't a bad idea if you don't mind permadeath or resetting, and while the game isn't perfect in it's handling of permadeath, it is still a fun game to ironman.

  6. I'm don't watch much television, though if I had to take a guess, it might be due to anime having more noticeable variety and versatility. It is easier to spot the differences between animes when compared to western shows, at least at a first glance. The other aspect may just be due to western shows not getting much attention unless they're classics, notably well-written, and/or exceptionally well animated. It's really only when one or more of those aspects is discussed that I see western cartoons brought up at all (at least in a positive context).

This game comes right at you out of the gate and tells you that all the cool royal kids have dragon blood, but only you are special enough to look like a weirdo because of it. Also, you're the only person in your family who's allergic to shoes.

Also, in a game where family lineage is identifiable entirely by hair palette swaps, it feels weird that the main character can come out looking completely different from both families. I get why -- it would probably be hard to market a main cast of characters that don't have a definite appearance -- but even the \"canon\" Corrin doesn't look related to anyone.
