    Hi c:

For real though. The first time I watched it, I was kind of unimpressed. The lore still doesn't impress me, but I think the first time, I let it put a bad taste in my mouth and then I didn't like the way the gameplay looked either. After watching it a few more times though, I am pretty excited for the gameplay. I hope the formation thing doesn't end up being just another obnoxious gimmick, because right now I think it could definitely go that way. The avatar looks pretty cool, and even though I was sort of hoping we wouldn't have one this time around, I think the teacher role is a GREAT place for the avatar to be. What are your theories?
  2. What would be the point of gauges on maps that are 6x8 squares and last like 6 turns? I'll say it again. No one is expecting every single detail from the actual games to be in place in the mobile version--the pocket version. Mobile as in you can play it on the bus or while waiting in line.
  3. I'm in agreement with everyone else on this thread--it's a mobile game, no one expects them to try to work in the gauge system from Tellius. I do think adding a whole new type of weapon is a big change though, so I imagine we won't see any laguz until version 3. Book 3 would be a good time to add something big like that anyway, like how Book 2 added the Legendary Heroes.

    Hi c:

Welcome! What are your other thoughts on the trailer (besides hype)?
  5. Same. Although, on the topic of this thread, what I'm really hoping is that at some point, the game bucks this mechanic altogether.I hope that for some reason you're eventually alone with your closest knights, and then you're attacked without time to call your troops ala the Black Knight-Micaiah chapter in Radiant Dawn. You suddenly wouldn't be able to use the formation mechanic, which would add to the OH CRAP of the ambush. I'm also hoping for a multi-part endgame: one with the squadrons, and one of the traditional Fire Emblem only-the-chosen-may-enter maps, where the mechanic is dropped again, but I'm not sure if that's likely since it's probably going to be the game's signature thing?
  6. To me, small cast means about 25-30 and big is the 75-ish of Radiant Dawn and New Mystery. I'm guessing 37 because I think they'll want a small cast for exactly the reason you said, but I also think it'll probably be a pretty long game, so they might need a few more?
  7. Since the old Fire Emblem Switch Leaks thread probably won't be used much anymore, I'm starting a Wild Mass Guessing thread for Three Houses. Here are mine to start with: Dimitri's kingdom invades Edelguard's at some point The teacher is connected to the villains LOVE TRIANGLE (for who gets Claude) Roster will consist of about 40 characters. My exact guess is 37, not including DLC.
  8. It wan't really leaks by the end, just general theories I think. The leaks were discredited pretty early.
  9. Yeah... If I had to guess, I'd say we'll get Ranulf, Reyson, Skrimir, then maybe Tibern or Naesala, and then Nasir possibly? My guess for the Legendary Hero among those is Reyson.
  10. I'm with you on this for sure but I feel like it'll be version 3 before we get them since you can't really make them manaketes. They will probably have to get their own type, which I think the devs can justify by throwing in the Awakening and Fates beaststone charcaters too.
  11. Because you are purple, duh. How many lobster hats can we expect to see at E3?
  12. You got this, no worries, this shit is easy, you could do it with your eyes closed, walk forward boldly, ect. ect. Good luck!!
  13. Jet lag had me sleeping by 7 the night before, so by 4 I was ready to get moving. And yeah, the area we are in has a lot of quiet paths up and down the mountains (or large hills, because apparently what I think of as mountains are actually not mountains). I kind of just explored a bit. I found a torii gate and temple that looks like it's been out of use for a long time, so that was cool. All in all it's been a pretty great experience so far :D
  14. I'm studying with my university so, I didn't have to do much of the planning. The program fee was a lot, but it covers college credit also so..... sorry I don't have much advice! And I guess that covers the first question too :D The program is based in Hiratsuka, and we visit Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka as well. Hiratsuka is kind of far out and the other day I was still jet lagged, so I got up around 4 am and went for a hike by myself into the country. It was basically the best thing ever. Thanks everyone for the well wishes!
  15. Think I'll find a copy of Mystery of the Emblem at Super Potato?
  16. 8/5 -- I like that one a lot. Q: How many psychologists does it take to change a light bulb? A: One, but it will take 2 years, $20000, and the light bulb must WANT to change.
  17. 6/15 For long set up with good but not outstanding punchline. Still worth a chuckle. Schrödinger's cat walks into a bar. And doesn't.
  18. Home stay. Do you want to take this outside?!?!?
  19. Yeah, most of the maps were pretty fun. Personally I don't care for adventures in the multiverse, but the story was done pretty well as far as it goes, and as people have said above, better than most of the Fates stuff....
  20. Same. On that topic, I really wanted to like SoV on the whole, but that's probably a topic for a different thread.
  21. No. No game is worth a x5 price hike when you can just emulate it. I know not everyone does emulation, but for this series, especially if you want to play the older games (which are VERY worth playing) you'll probably have to do it eventually. Might as well start now. As far as recommendations, a lot of people have mentioned the GBA series. Since you're coming off the 3DS games, you might want to start with Sacred Stones. It's got a world map, lots of supports, ect. Past that, Shadow Dragon is a lot of fun, but just keep in mind it doesn't stray much from the 20+ year old source material.
