  1. Here we create Spirit Boards for Fighters we'd like to see as DLC. There are a few guidelines to keep in mind: The Spirit count so far has fallen between 7 and 11; while higher numbers are theoretically possible, in practice they have not seen fit to break the 11 limit. Each board features a mix of primary and support Spirits. Each board features a mix of one to three star Spirits, and always has exactly one Legendary Support Spirit with a new ability. The Legendary Spirit is usually listed at the end, though Terry's board is an exception. The boards usually list the Spirits in ascending order of difficulty, with the four-star Spirit at the end. Crash Bandicoot
  2. I want to believe no, for Shantae's sake. They can always rename Spirits, like Armagon's example of the two Hildas. So, the current Shantae spirit becomes Shantae (Half-Genie Hero).
  3. Though I'd like to see Warriors of Light added as a fighter team, I also think the FF1 classes would make good Mii Costumes. Most of them probably fall under Swordfighter due to using swords or staves, while Monk is obviously Brawler. Given how popular the Nitro Squad is, I could see them getting costumes - 15 total, in fact. They could get default and Motorsport costumes for Brawler, and their recent Space Pirate costumes for Gunner.
  4. Crazy idea, but what about a Digimon for Bandai? My personal preference would be Renamon, but Agumon is the face of the franchise, so he'd be most likely. He could temporarily Digivolve into the bigger, stronger, and heavier Greymon as his down special. For his Final Smash, he Digivolves into Wargreymon and uses Terra Force. SNK has Metal Slug, which could be repped by Marco Rossi. He could use various weapons, witrh his Final Smash being the titular Metal Slug tank.
  5. Cortex as a Mii Gunner? I like that idea! How about Tawna, Coco, Crunch, and Nina as Mii Brawlers? And even though I want Crash playable, I think a Crash costume for Mii Brawler would be a hilarious reference to the old Crash commercials. Looking at possible Spyro costumes, Agent 9 would be perfect for a Mii Gunner. Maybe Ripto could be a Swordfighter? There'd be something kinda funny about a temperamental dinosaur wizard whacking his enemies with his scepter.
  6. I'd probably add a lot more third party Dojos & Shops. Like for Shantae, we'd get a Genie-style Dojo and a shop run by Tuki. Spyro would give us a Dragon-style dojo run by Titan and a shop run by who else but Moneybags.
  7. Well okay, sure, if SEGA sold Atlus or Atlus somehow split off from SEGA to become an independent entity again, then Joker would probably go with them. But right now, Atlus belongs to SEGA, so as far as I'm concerned, Joker is another SEGA rep. He's a rep for a SEGA subsidiary, to be certain. I've got high hopes for Crash being one of the 6 DLCs. Spyro isn't as likely as Crash, and as much as I want Shantae and Krystal to be added, I know the chances are slim to none (the DLC comes from games not yet represented in Smash, and Star Fox and Shantae both have some kind of representation in SSBU already). I would rather the DLC not consist mostly of semi-realistic human males this time (hence why I'm not jumping on the Dante and Travis bandwagons), I'd like to see more girls and more cartoony characters since Smash is a game for good boys and girls of all ages. I wouldn't complain if they added Ryu Hayabusa though.
  8. But SEGA owns Atlus now, so Joker is effectively a SEGA rep. Joker belongs to Atlus, Atlus belongs to SEGA, therefore Joker belongs to SEGA through Atlus. That's what happens when your owning company becomes the subsidiary of another. And I was using a theoretical scenario where Bomberman is a Fighter as opposed to an Assist Trophy, hence the "would".
  9. Atlus, which now fully belongs to SEGA, making Joker effectively a SEGA rep as much as Bomberman would effectively be a Konami rep.
  10. You can also pick up bats and hit people with them, or pick up a ray gun and shoot people with it. Doesn't stop Ness and Fox from packing their own. Throwing barrels was Donkey Kong's original attack, it should be part of his moveset. And thanks to my proposed equipment system, it could be. Just equip the Barrel Special Item to the Neutral or Forward Special slot and presto! And how can you confirm that statistic? What are your data collection methods? Have you collected data from public polls and surveys? Did you ask anyone else on this forum whether or not they used equipment and custom specials in Smash 4? At any rate, I was pointing out how flawed Smash 4's system was, thus my recommendations for how to improve it. Whether or not the majority of players in Smash 4 used those features isn't going to stop me from suggesting a better system.
  11. Yeah, the new Pokemon are what the new gen should really stand on. I don't mind seeing some returning faces, though the advent of regional variants means even returning Pokemon can still feel new.
  12. I used them, thank you very much. I even preferred certain custom specials to the defaults. But I feel Smash 4's equipment and custom specials were lacking. They didn't use enough existing material. Where were the various powerups Mario could use, like the Ice Flower? Where were the various items from the Zelda series, like the Fire and Ice Rods, or even Fire and Ice Arrow variants? Where was DK's Barrel Toss and Coconut Gun? Samus Aran's Wave and Plasma Beams? Mega Man and Palutena got custom specials right, at least. Maybe if more custom specials had that kind of variety and creativity, they would have fared better. Instead, most of the variants boiled down to "faster and weaker vs. stronger and slower" or "works better as a recovery but deals no damage vs. deals more damage but makes a poor recovery". Likewise, while the use of character-specific Equipment types was a cute touch, I would have liked actual aesthetically-distinct items taken from existing games more. The Miis are customizable by default, can't use that excuse for them. And they could always, y'know, create stuff for WFT like they did for Captain Falcon back on the N64 with the Falcon Punch. That said, odd ducks like WFT, MG&W, and DH aren't high on my priority list, and frankly I'd sooner cut them for a Smash 6 with awesome fighter customization than skip out on a cool idea for the sake of keeping novelties around.
  13. I'd say it depends on the character. Cloud and Hero would be easy since they come from JRPGs with established weapons and other gear. And in Hero's case, a lot of the spells seen in the Down Special could be turned into Spellbook Special Items that can be assigned to the Neutral and Forward Special slots. Ryu and Terry would be difficult since their own series champions barefisted fighting. Of course, nothing stops Ryu from picking up a bat or a sword in Smash, so I guess he, Ken, and Terry can pay homage to beat em ups? Other fist weapons, like claws, would make sense too, especially if there's a CFS that establishes fighter templates which can be used to create characters like Vega. Ultimately though the Street Fighter and King of Fighters templates would probably use Styles as their "weapons", representing the various fighting styles seen in their series. They may not make use of Special Items since their specials are part of their styles, like how Link wouldn't use a Special Item for his Spin Attack since his sword already serves that purpose. Banjo & Kazooie could add Dragon Kazooie as a Weapon. Fire Eggs and Ice Eggs would make great Special Items for Egg Firing and Egg Rear respectively. Mega Man has lots of easy options for Special Items: Robot Master Weapons. His melee moveset, on the other hand, would be difficult since it's comprised mostly of RMWs as well. But one could always group weapons into categories like Mega (Buster and Arm), Fire (Atomic Fire, Flame Sword, etc.), and Electric (Thunder Beam, Lightning Claw, etc). Sonic has used a sword before, so Swords could be an option in addition to Gloves. Special Item options could include Chao, Wisps, and Bombs. Special attacks like Chaos Spear and Black Wave could be represented with Power Rings. Yeah, an Equipment system would probably be a colossal task, especially as part of a Custom Fighter system, but it's something Smash 6 can look at. And it'd be an organic way to customize movesets. At the very least it'd be neat to have a Soul Calibur-esque weapon system in there where each fighter's weapons tweak their damage, special effects, etc.
  14. Something I've thought would be cool for a long time is if Smash let you choose different weapons or other kinds of equipment for your fighters. Smash 4's equipment system was rather basic with generic equipment types; I'd like to see more specific items show up in Smash. For example, Link could equip the Biggoron's Sword instead of the Master Sword to add more reach and damage at the cost of his shield. Or Mario could equip a hammer to give his attacks more reach and damage at the cost of speed. Pikachu could equip various Hold Items such as the Light Ball. Cloud could use various Buster Swords from FF7, including the Ultima Weapon. Fighters could have different movesets for different weapon categories; Link with a Claymore would fight more like Ike or Cloud versus when using a Sword & Shield. In addition to Weapons, fighters could get Apparel and Special Items. Apparel covers armor and clothing like helmets, masks, and dresses, while Special Items are used for specials and secondary weapons. Link for example could get Bombs, Bows, and Boomerangs as Special Items, while Fox gets Blasters and Reflectors. Each fighter gets different Apparel and Special Item options. In addition to cosmetic differences, there could be mechanical distinctions; wearing Soldier's Armor can make Link heavier and harder to flinch at the cost of movement speed. He can equip Remote Bombs or Bombchu instead of regular Bombs. And he could equip a Rod or Seed Shooter in place of his Bow to alter his neutral special. This could of course go hand-in-hand with my Custom Fighter System, as part of creating and customizing fighters. Indeed, since the major draw of the CFS is that you can create virtually any character and therefore the Spirits aren't necessary for representing a wide variety of characters, Equipment could return as the customization feature of choice.
  15. I'm not as into Fire Emblem as my brother, so I didn't really have any one TH rep that I absolutely wanted. But I don't mind Byleth since they have one of the most unique movesets in Smash.
  16. Until the Banjo-Kazooie & Banjo-Tooie HD remaster comes out, anyway. After the success of CNST and SRT, not to mention the fanfare that B&K received when they returned in Smash, Microsoft would be insane not to do HD remasters for BK and BT. Or hey, maybe a miracle will happen and Microsoft will sell BK to Nintendo, allowing Nintendo to do a BK&THDR.
  17. The Dragonborn has the Iron and Studded Leather-clad male Nord from the trailer and promotional materials. Add a female Nord in the same armor, give them three additional color variants, and boom.
  18. I don't see why not. What I wonder about Arle is: Would they find a way to implement Puyo Pop mechanics somehow?
  19. Why not have both? It's not like Ryu is the only classic Fighting game rep in Smash.
  20. Even Jace? 😛 Though personally, I'd pick Chandra as she's both popular and her pyromancy skillset is a good fit for Smash. Four of her color variants would obviously reference the other four colors of mana. The other three could reference her mother Pia Nalaar, her role model Jaya Ballard, and her mentor Mother Luti.
  21. I mean, Robin's Final Smash and one of their victory animations practically beg for Robin to be paired up with Chrom in a tag team duo. Chrom could have that same FS and victory animation. Pairing off the FE fighters next time would be a great way to set them apart: Marth & Caeda Alm & Celica Roy & Lilina Lyn, Eliwood, & Hector Ike & Sorin Chrom/Lucina & Robin/Morgan Corrin & Azura Byleth, Edelgard, Dimitri, & Claude More than twice the FE reps, yet no additional slots used, and with a heck of a lot more variety in weapons and movesets. Since we're discussing FE teams, how about Owain, Inigo, and Severa? Owain uses a sword and tome, Inigo uses a sword and axe, and Severa uses a sword and bow. Four of their variants reference different possible fathers with costume and hair colors, two reference fellow Awakening kids, and one would be Odin/Laslow/Selena from Fates.
