  1. I got some more: Garland Will Knock You All Down! Mega Man X Charges Up! Zero Enters the Battle! MegaMan.EXE Advances! Crash Bandicoot Takes You For A Spin! Dr. Neo Cortex Strikes Back! Spyro the Dragon Turns Up The Heat! Ripto Rages On!
  2. Shadow the Hedgehog Echo of Sonic the Hedgehog. Shadow skates rather than runs, and his Specials mix in Chaos energy. N Special: Chaos Blast - Shadow's version of Homing Attack charges Chaos energy and releases it in an explosion when Shadow connects with his target. S Special: Fire Dash - Shadow uses a fiery version of Sonic's Spin Dash. U Special: Chaos Control - Shadow warps upward. D Special: Fire Charge - Shadow uses a fiery version of Sonic's Spin Charge. Final Smash: Super Shadow When winning against Sonic, Shadow will declare "You're not even good enough to be my fake!" When Sonic wins against Shadow, Sonic will say "Better luck next time, faker!"
  3. Ooh, this'll be fun! Super Mario Odyssey - Pauline Luigi's Mansion 3 - King Boo Breath of the Wild - Mipha A Link to the Past - Marin Hyrule Warriors - Lana Sonic Mania - Heavy King Octopath Traveler - Primrose A Hat in Time - Hat Girl Yooka-Laylee - HMMM I WONDER Yooka-Laylee & The Impossible Lair - Queen Phoebee
  4. Why didn't Squirtle and Charizard have a weakness to electric attacks? And Ivysaur to ice? Also Charizard takes damage while in water if I recall correctly. How about damage numbers that appear whenever Cloud or Hero deals damage to an opponent? The numbers reflect the amount of damage dealt. For that matter, perhaps Cloud's Buster Sword attacks make that distinct sound effect from FF7? If they were to add Classic Link, I'd like his N attack to be a single sword slash that can be repeated quickly, like in ALttP and most later topdown Zeldas. What if different fighters had different stamina readouts, like hearts for Link and life tanks for Samus? It could be a setting so you can still use the generic numbers if you wish.
  5. If they can promote ATs to Fighter status, that's going to give me new hope for Krystal. And if they promote existing Spirits, that's going to give me more hope for Shantae as well. I was this close to giving up on both girls making it in. Please Nintendo, if you're going to renew my hope like this...reward it. Please. Even one of the two would make me happy. Both will make me scream like a giddy teenager. But even one of them would make my hopes feel validated.
  6. I'm definitely with those who say Young Link's Final Smash should be Fierce Deity.
  7. Neat, another Spreadsheet user! I've been using that site to make my prospective Smash 6 roster. Going for a single alternate special per slot is an interesting concept, though I'm not crazy about moves that switch their element like Magic Rod and Fire Ice Blaster. I like the idea of Fox using Krystal's Staff in his alternate Specials, but it also makes me sad that she isn't in the roster herself. I applaud the choice of giving Echoes different alternate specials, though that does raise the question of whether they still count as Echoes. I notice that Banjo & Kazooie don't have customs yet either. I'll be happy to help there: Fire Egg Firing, Breegull Bomber, Feather Flight, and Ice Rear Egg. Breegull Bomber and Feather Flight consume Red Feathers, which regenerate over time unlike Gold Feathers. Considering that series representation in Smash isn't equal to begin with, I feel that you could allow characters like Mario and Link to have more custom specials if they have material to work with. On the other hand, sometimes you might find you can create new Specials by splitting old ones up. Take Duck Hunt for example; instead of Wild Gunman producing a random Gunman, maybe there are three different Gunmen to choose from, each with different properties (like faster shot vs. stronger shot). Or what you did with Zoom from Hero's Command List; you could easily give Hero three options per slot using spells like Crack, Kaclang, and Metal Slash. Helichopter would also work as a U special.
  8. Pink spirits, eh? Holy carp, I just realized the base game doesn't have Ribbon or Adeleine Spirits. Which means A) Ribbon will probably be in this event or B) there is a chance, however slight, that she and/or Adeleine will be added to Smash as DLC. I could see them going the Star Allies route of making Ribbon part of Adeleine's moveset, but I'd like even more for Ribbon to be fully playable herself. Being that Ribbon is a counterpart of sorts to Kirby, I could totally see her gaining the ability to copy abilities similar to Kirby, perhaps using some kind of magic wand. She could also use copy abilities in Smash that Kirby doesn't, like Beam, Mirror, and Archer.
  9. Can't forget that most devious of all Underworld denizens... Eggplant Wizard: Throws magic eggplants that will transform opponents into walking eggplants for a brief time.
  10. White Mage: Casts a white magic spell on you, such as Cure, Reflect, Float, or if you're lucky, Auto-Life.
  11. Incidentally, I was thinking Classic Zelda would fight using a Magic Rod as her main weapon, and would use the Fire, Ice, Tornado, and Sand Rods as her specials (though the Cane of Somaria could take the place of the Sand Rod). >_> But I concur that Ravio would work well with the Hammer as his main weapon, since the poor bloke doesn't get his own sword.
  12. Unlikely, as fighters take up more time and resources than basically any other asset. Bonus Spirits, Mii Costumes, and/or Songs would be more likely, as in those cases most of the work's done already. If they were going to make extra fighters, they'd probably be Echoes since, again, most of the work would already be done. I'm still vexed that Impa, Shadow, and Zack weren't included as Echoes, they were such obvious choices.
  13. Were it up to me, Impa would be the base, and Sheik would be the Echo or Semiclone. That's the clever part: Classic Zelda would use a Magic Rod as her main weapon. And what item appears in Turtle Rock in LA? 😉 A supporting character with more moveset potential than Fox and Falcon. And Darunia wouldn't be the only supporting character in Smash: Bowser, Jr., Rosalina & Luma, Duck Hunt, Wii Fit Trainer, Isabelle... Nabooru could use the Silver Gauntlets to pick up and throw boulders, like Link does. Plus it makes sense that she'd use them to swing that big, heavy axe around. It didn't have to, just being an item from the Zelda series is enough. Besides, Malon has appeared in other games: MM, OoS, FSA, and TMC. Even without the whip, she could use farm tools as weapons, like the Pitchfork and Farming Hoe as seen in BotW. In fact, I like the idea of Malon with a Pitchfork. Maybe add a bucket as well? She could even use Cuccos and horses somewhere in her moveset! I'll assume you're joking about HW. 😛 Twili Midna would play considerably different from Wolf Link & Midna. For starters, she wouldn't be as fast as Wolf Link. She could use the Twilight Mirror much like in HW. Or they could give her more TP items like the Dominion Rod and Spinner. Half the characters in Smash aren't normally fighters. Doesn't mean Linebeck can't have a good moveset. Hiding in a crate or barrel could be his D Special. I pictured the Champions as a rotating team. But their spells could probably be given to Link or Zelda, maybe worked in as Custom Specials.
  14. In other words, an Echo Fighter. Marin could be a good alt for Zelda, especially if they add Classic Zelda. Limited moveset didn't stop Fox and Captain Falcon. Heck, Darunia has more material to work with. Just look at him in Hyrule Warriors. Well, she could always fight using dance moves and water magic, like in Hyrule Warriors. Maybe add a spear to her moveset as a nod to Mipha. By default, Nabooru would fight like the Gerudo Thieves using scimitars, but I could see her using an axe in her smashes as a nod to the Iron Knuckle. Can't forget the Silver Gauntlets, either. Malon could play like a cowgirl, using a whip as her main weapon and using a bow or crossbows as her N Special. She could also be another good variant for Zelda. I do like the AT suggestion, though. Ironically, Tingle's been an Assist Trophy before. As a fighter, he'd probably use dance moves, bombs, a bag of Rupees, and his balloon. In fact, his recovery could be Balloon Fighter since he starred in a version of that game. Again, I point to HW. I concur, I think they should be transformations. See Twili Midna in HW. Linebeck himself, obviously. He's a lot more amusing as an artful dodger than as a possessed brute. For starters, Groose can punch and kick. He also made the Groosenator, which would probably factor into his Final Smash. He can fly on his Loftwing, and he could use items from SS such as the Beetle, Whip, Mogma Mitts, and Gust Bellows. Ravio doesn't have a sword, so he'd probably use his Hammer. He could also use the Rods, though I'm thinking those would work well for Classic Zelda. At the very least, he can be referenced in one of Classic Link's costumes. Most likely, the Champions would be referenced through their weapons and spells, but I'm sure their fans would appreciate being able to play them to make up for their wasted potential in BotW.
  15. The same way you balance Zelda/Sheik and Pokemon Trainer? I'm not suggesting that they'd fight at the same time, only that you'd be able to switch to one of them. The catch being that once you choose one of them, you're stuck with that as your alternate for the rest of the battle. So if you pick Dimitri, you can switch between Byleth and Dimitri for that battle, but not Edelgard or Claude. My alternate suggestion was that you choose which House Leader you can switch to with Custom Specials; the Leaders are thus "subfighters" who are fully playable but cannot be customized themselves. The same could work for Young Link and the Deku, Goron, and Zora Masks.
  16. Hey, here's an idea: What if Byleth was Byleth & Three Houses, and their gimmick is that you use your D Special to choose one of the three House leaders - Dimitri, Edelgard, or Claude - who becomes your partner for the rest of the battle? You don't get to switch to any of the three freely, you have to commit. If you choose Dimitri, then Dimitri is your alternate fighter for the rest of the battle, you won't be able to acces Edelgard or Claude. Or if they were to bring bring custom specials back, you'd choose which of the three House Leaders is your D Special "subfighter", a character you can switch to and play but who cannot be customized themselves. I thought of that convention for Young Link as well, choosing which transformation mask he uses as his D Special.
  17. Shantae can transform by belly dancing, so I'd start with that. It would probably work like in HGH, where you select one of several possible options, but if they could give her different dance moves like in Shantae 1 that you can string together, that'd be neat. Even a simple A+B system with eight poses (one each for UDLRABXY) could have 28 different combinations, or up to 56 if the order matters. That said, maybe it would be better to keep it to the original six UDLRAB poses with 30 possible combinations. The first pose determines the dance category, the second pose determines which specific dance in that category Shantae uses. Shantae starts in a neutral dance pose, the one she uses in HGH. When you press in one of four directions or press one of four buttons, she will switch to a new dance pose and a star meter will begin to fill. Hold the pose until the meter fills (it only takes about a second) and you can then select a second, different pose (or keep the current one if you just want to watch Shantae shimmy and shake). Once you fill two meters in a row, Shantae will perform the appropriate effect. You can switch poses early, but they will not have any effect unless you fill the meters. You can cancel her current Dance at any time by using Shield (or X or Y if one decides not to use them for additional poses).
  18. Zelda's other form in OoT. Why isn't Tetra in Smash, then? She's Zelda's other form in TWW.
  19. Here we go again...How else do you explain Sheik's inclusion in Melee, then? Alright then, let's tackle some other factors: As for other series, I'd push for more Mega Man representation. X & Zero, Mega Man Volnutt, MegaMan.EXE, Neo Zero, and Vent/Aile all would make fine playable options, each with distinct gameplay styles. I'd also consider adding Proto Man and Bass. More Sonic characters would be welcome. Tails and Knuckles could team up with Sonic to form Team Sonic. Shadow as a standalone fighter would be an obvious Echo, though if Sonic became Team Sonic then Shadow could in turn add Rouge and Omega to form Team Dark. Both Teams function a lot like Pokemon Trainer, letting you switch between the three members and sharing a Final Smash. I'd also like to start seeing more third party villains. Garland would be perfect, using his Dissidia moveset as a base. Eggman could work as a Sonic rep, piloting his Egg Mobile much like how Bowser, Jr. and the Koopalings pilot the Koopa Clown Car. For Mario, I'd like to see an honest-to-goodness Bowser's Castle Stage, maybe with an Airship added in. It's an iconic level archetype, how have they not done it yet? Really, I think every fighter should have a "home stage", even if some have to share.
  20. The internet says otherwise. I see a lot more fanart of these characters than I do of a potted plant. Impa is a recurring character much as Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf, Ruto is easily the most popular of the OoT Sages, Darunia is the face of the Goron tribe, Nabooru is the mosty notable female Gerudo, Midna and Ghirahim are notable enough they at least got in as ATs, Marin and Malon are wildly popular with fans, and Tingle got his own games. Japan-only games mind you, but still. Smash could afford to add at least a few of these characters. Me, I'd pick Impa, Darunia, and Ruto personally as we have Hylian, Gerudo, and technically Sheikah representation, though I'd like Nabooru or Urbosa as well since they represent the Gerudo tribe better than Ganondorf. The Four Champions collectively draw a lot of attention, and could be packaged together as a team, each using his or her signature weapon and spell. Not to mention the potential for Young Link to use transformation masks like in MM, which gels with the modern Smash convention of referencing game mechanics whenever possible. Add in Trevor and they could just have Simon, Trevor, Richter, and Leon collectively as the Belmont fighter, much like Dragon Quest's Hero. Alucard would be the second obvious pick, and maybe Soma and Shanoa after him.
  21. Sure, we can add Lyn to the list. I think she'd do well as a trio with Eliwood and Hector. Were it up to me, every gen would get to have both Trainers in there. But there are only eight costume slots per fighter, and there are eight gens. Plus Kris was the original female protagonist, she deserves recognition too. And Dawn, Serena, and Gloria would also get in, so there would still be lots of fan favorites. May and Hilda would miss out unfortunately, but I doubt they'd break gender balance. If they wanted to be really crazy, they could rename the current PT to Kanto Trainer and leave the door open for Johto Trainer, Hoenn Trainer, etc. But I'm not sure how fans would like 21 additional Pokemon fighters being added to Smash, especially if they're all starters. That'd be nearly 30 playable Pokemon in Smash, total. See, this is why I'm an advocate of the Custom Fighter System, that way everyone can be happy. Customizable Trainers are a thing in Pokemon nowadays, so it would only make sense that you can customize your Trainer in Smash as well. And maybe let players customize their Team of Pokemon while they're at it. This of course would probably mean all playable Pokemon in Smash are now part of a Trainer team, including the likes of Lucario and Mewtwo, but seeing as that's how you play them in the Pokemon series as well, that would also make some sense.
