  1. Agreed, there are several Mii Costumes of fighters in Smash already, so it's not like it would be unprecedented.
  2. I think AoC's story will play out a lot like DQ11, where you first go through the "disaster" route, then later on get to fix things via time travel. I don't think that will happen immediately upon AoC's release, I think it'll be tied to BotW2 via DLC. It'll be like "Hey, you know how AoC had a bittersweet ending six months ago? Well now's your chance to make things better!" So you'll get to experience your sad ending etc., and for fans who'd like to see a happier alternative, the DLC gives them that opportunity. It's hardly the first time the Zelda series has used time travel as a plot element, heck the original game was supposed to be a time travel story so it's long been part of the series' DNA, and AoC/BotW seems like a ripe opportunity to revisit the trope. But I expect we'll have to wait until BotW2 before we see any of that come to pass.
  3. I personally see no reason why not. But you might want to put it in a topic dedicated to alternate movesets for existing fighters, as now that's what it technically qualifies as.
  4. Min MIn Steve & Alex Shantae Krystal Pauline Crash Bandicoot Spyro εCynder Dr. Eggman Dixie Kong Waluigi
  5. A prequel to Path of Radiance could have been possible. Not like Tellius wasn't at war well before Ike came along. Heck, maybe the game would have starred Ike's father Greil similar to how Blazing Blade starred Roy's father Eliwood and was a prequel to Binding Blade.
  6. I've proposed before that BotW2 could allow for a time travel-related "happy ending", based on the fact time travel has happened in the series before. (Heads-up: I get into some story stuff in the following spoiler.) So yeah, that's my idea of how an "After Calamity" DLC expansion could go down. I'm thinking the ending of BotW2 (or at least, a secret ending) leads into the DLC. AoC serves as the beginning of the whole arc while "After Calamity" serves as the end of it. Room is left open to a future sequel set in a more prosperous future, though they'll have to come up with a new antagonist.
  7. I could see Sidon, Yunobo, Riju, Tebah, and Kass all being playable in stages set 100 years later. I'm thinking a DLC expansion called "After Calamity" set between BotW and BotW2, that shows the New Champions and some other characters helping Link and Zelda battle Ganon's forces in the future while they try to rebuild Hyrule. Paya, Grante, and Kass could all join that adventure.
  8. Master Chief (HALO) Ukyo Tachibana (Samurai Shodown) Gwonam (Legend of Zelda) Guybrush Threepwood (Monkey Island)
  9. Animated shorts. Smash is, at its core, all about wacky crossover battles. Yeah, they give us Classic and Adventure Modes to provide us with more ambitious narratives, but I think individual shorts that focus on various battle scenarios would be the most fun to watch. It'd be like Looney Tunes, where you have two or more characters pitted against each other under various circumstances. That said, all three could honestly work, because they pretty much describe Versus, Classic, and Adventure in a nutshell. WYR have: A larger number of fighters with similar movesets (not strictly Echos, but like Luigi, Falco, etc.) A smaller number of fighters with multiple movesets (like a FLUDD moveset for Mario, a Longsword moveset for Link, etc.)
  10. Next game. (I was going to pick Waluigi earlier, but I had to get to work.) WYR the next Smash game be: A deluxe version of SSB64 with a lot more fighters, stages, music, and other content SSB6 with expanded fighter customization
  11. My favorites are the beauty seekers Sir Perry the rock anti-God of Burua and blua the reliable Bulua.
  12. Naw man, Glover should fight Crazy Hand. Now I want to go make a Glover moveset. Mipha. New FF fighter who isn't from FF7. WYR have: Warrior of Light Cecil Harvey Terra Branford
  13. Glover. Which of these spiritual successors WYR add next: Yooka & Laylee (Yooka-Laylee) Miriam (Bloodstained) Sash Lilac (Freedom Planet)
  14. It's not exactly subtle either, it pretty much popped down there ensuring your eyes would be drawn to it. Ness's expression in that video is perfect. I think he realized what it looks like, too.
  15. You guys gotta check out this post on ZU where a member named Arrdenet ran the scans through a translator and shared what it churned out. It is a hoot, worthy of Book of Mario.
  16. I'd have liked to see later Mega Man: Powered Up titles, keeping the playable Robot Master hook of the first MMPU. Really, why isn't that a standard feature of Mega Man games nowadays? Though maybe not make the music sound so saccharine, that kinda ruined Cut Man, Guts Man, and Fire Man's songs. I think it'd be sweet if they let you play as Robot Masters from previous games in later games via save data reading or through unlocking via the shop. And yes, there would be unique dialogue for every possible Robot Master matchup in each game. The MM1 RMs could comment on the MM2 RMs being based on them. Certain RM relationships could be explored, like Toad Man's fear of Snake Man ("Gah! S-stay back, you creepy serpent!"), Guts Man and Stone Man's friendship ("Sorry Guts, we're just working for two different bosses, is all.") or Freeze Man's respect for Ice Man ("Ice Man!? THE Ice Man!? This is an honor! Show me your mastery of ice! Freeze me solid!"). Additionally, each playable Robot Master would be strong against one Robot Master from each subsequent cycle, and weak against another. Fire Man for example does well against bosses weak to fire such as Wood Man, Blizzard Man, and Burst Man, while he himself is weak to water and ice weapons like those used by Bubble Man, Wave Man, Blizzard Man and Freeze Man. Some Robot Masters might gain new secondary weapons or fighting moves to account for situations in which their primary weapon won't work, like in the case of Fire Man vs. Heat Man or Ice Man vs. Freeze Man. Heat Man absorbs fire and explosions, and Freeze Man absorbs ice, so Fire Man gains a kick attack which deals good damage and knocks his opponents back but has short range, and Ice Man gains a spin attack similar to Top Spin. And yes, Pharaoh Man would gain a punch attack. Indeed, I could see a punch or kick attack becoming standard for all Robot Masters. Maybe Mega himself could start using the Mega Upper to deal with enemies near and above him, and gain a Mega Slide attack that he can use by charging the buster, holding down, and releasing. Maybe they should revisit the Powered Up concept as a Collection? We'd have MM1-10 plus maybe I-V and MM&B all in one package. Mega Man Powered Up Collection! Or, if the Powered Up aesthetic isn't your cup of tea, maybe Mega Man: Robot Master Collection, done in the style of MM11? They could even add MM11 in there as well, complete with Double Gear system for different playable Robot Masters. As a bonus, they could throw in a stage editor and a multiplayer versus mode where 2-4 players can throw down as their favorite Robot Masters. Maybe even add a co-op mode!
  17. There are variants to that, but yes, there is a certain pattern many special sets tend to follow by merit of what's intuitive for the control map. Generally, N and D Specials will be moves you'd feel comfortable using in a standing position, such as projectiles, charge-up moves, or defensive moves. D Specials additionally tend to be moves you'd use on the ground more often. S Specials are moves you'd naturally use while running, dashing, or moving forward in air, hence a lot of forward momentum attacks (though there isn't a shortage of projectiles in this category, either, as Link and Samus can attest). And of course U Specials are primarily designed for recovering, with the exceptions of Yoshi and Jigglypuff who already have superior double jumps and thus have less need for recovery moves (though I would probably re-jig their movesets to include some anyway). That said, it does feel nice when different specials are connected (like with Olimar's Pikmin Pluck, Pikmin Throw, and Pikmin Order). And Steve easily sets the record for most intricately interconnected special set ever, primarily focused on his Mine N Special. Context sensitivity is a novel concept for SSB Specials, and Steve's tri-fold N Special opens my eyes to the possibility of other fighters having context-sensitive specials as well. I also appreciate that he's the second fighter with a Shield Special; they really need to make those a standard part of the moveset template.
  18. New Super Mario RPG (Square Enix) - featuring Mario's Party and Bowser's Party Hyrule Warriors: Hero of Time (Koei Tecmo) - Seven years after OoT, Link returns to Hyrule as an adult after a long journey, finding a war waiting for him Metroid Saga (Nintendo EPD/Mercury Steam) - An HD remake compilation of Metroid: Zero Mission, Samus Returns, Super Metroid, and Metroid Fusion, to help tide us over until Metroid Prime 4. The Classic versions of these titles are also included. Mega Man 12 or Mega Man X9 (Capcom) - hopefully featuring more female bosses Spyro 4 (Toys for Bob) Shantae Racing (WayForward) - A Mario Kart-esque racing game starring Shantae and her friends (and foes!) That's it for now.
  19. Bowser's Castle. It's about time video gaming's most iconic villain got his own den. And it'd be nice to have alternatives to Norfair when you want a lava stage. WYR add: Wing Box as a powerup that makes your fighter sprout wings from their head, gives them extra jumps, and makes them lighter Biggoron's Sword as a long, powerful battering item with a chance it's actually a Giant's Knife that breaks after a few hits Coconut Gun as a shooting item
  20. It was mentioned that the title of Kohga is passed down through Yiga leaders. So this probably isn't the same Kohga as the one we later fight in BotW, he's just a goofy butterball himself.
  21. Same here, though Capcom's history with KT makes the chances of that dubious. The two companies have some bad blood between them, so KT may have made a conscious choice to leave any and all Capcom-created content out even though the Oracle-original content is still Nintendo's property. A pity, I'd have liked to see Din, Nayru, Farore, Ralph, Maple, Onox, and Veran all as warriors. I could also see costumes that reference many Oracle characters, such as Link (Ralph), Lana (Farore), Darunia (Great Moblin), Agitha (Maple), Zant (Onox), Volga (Dragon Onox), Wizzro (Agunima), and Cia (Veran).
  22. Dig Dug. Which of the following bosses WYR be added to Smash next: Chaos (Final Fantasy) Dr. Eggman Sigma
  23. Yeah, FEW sadly just didn't have as much material to draw from as HW did. Even if they had included alternate classes and different weapon types to add variety, a lot of Warriors would just end up being headswaps. I got bored of FEW a lot more easily than HW, which kept my interest thanks to the sheer variety in movesets and Adventure board content. I have a feeling AoC will likewise hold my interest a lot longer than FEW did.
  24. Like Pokemon Snap but for Zelda, right? Make Purah the protagonist and you've got yourself a freaking deal.
  25. Mega Man Legends 3. Possibly the most upsetting video game cancellation in history.
