  1. I was very happy. I wanted Mia very much and I got her on my free summon, have been trying to summon her again and have wound up with 2 kageros (hate when no colorless orbs are available to pull from). Either way I am happy though.
  2. I was going to suggest Kellam, but then I realized he is already in the game and somehow I just never noticed him!
  3. PC: Stardew Valley - fun with friends aha... I accidentally (finger twitched while I was looking at what was available) bought a regular sized brown egg from the traveling merchant for 1000g within the first week of Spring. 3DS: Fire Emblem Echoes - I've just been really slow getting through it. I'll play it for a fair bit for a day and then leave it for a few months. Phone: Fire Emblem Heroes - kills so much time, just love tinkering around. Amazed a mobile game has held my attention this long. It has outlasted POGO for me. Switch: Octopath Traveler - my main game the past week. I also picked up Owlboy but haven't gotten to touch it too much yet. PS4: Horizon: Zero Dawn - my main game prior to Octopath Traveler's release, I really need to not let this slide too far to the back burner.
  4. I'm somewhere around the middle of chapter 3 for most characters now and I have to say this game has been enjoyable. I started with Ophilia and have to say the only thing I've been annoyed with in the game is that it makes taking Primrose anywhere kind of pointless. But my big concerns about it becoming a grind fest seem to have been for naught. I regularly swap out my characters and try different sub classes on them for fun, and have been happy to enjoy the game so far mostly just based on which characters I like. My main thing is I try to keep a variant of each of the NPC interaction skills on me so I can do quests and stuff as I go (which has only caused issue when Prim is in my party and I wind up with two guides). I am curious if it's because Ophilia is my main character (and thus highest level) that she tends to carry my party, or if it's because between healing and blasting everything with light, fire, cold and lightning. I'm only just getting Cyrus caught up a bit (as a dancer subclass), and he does seem to fill a similar role. One criticism I have with the game is that I can just bank JP as my cleric/scholar Ophilia and then switch to dancer, unlock her useful dancer skills, and then switch back without ever entering (well I entered one and hated it) any battles. It felt cheap, but I had no motivation to stay in the dancer subclass.
  5. If it's a game series I love, I usually buy it at release. However, I've recently been burnt twice by this, with Breath of the Wilds and Dynasty Warriors 9. Aside from game series I love, I usually research quite a bit, watch some early-game gameplay to get a sense of the gameplay without risking too many spoilers, and take recommendations from friends with a lot of consideration for how their tastes compare to mine. But even then, it's hard to tell - my friend loved BotW and Horizon, and I love Horizon but not BotW. After a lot of consideration, my decision making is helped along by reduced prices. It's a lot less shitty feeling when you don't like a game and it only cost you 20 dollars instead of 80 dollars. And when I find a game I loved at a cheap price it just feels awesome to me. So now I tend to research them, watch a bit of early gameplay (spoiler free), read a few reviews, listen to friends, consider the source's tastes and compare them to mine, and buy things on sale. I'm also a lot more patient now and tend to be exposed to spoilers a lot less than I was as a teenager so I have no problem waiting a year for price drops. But then sometimes I just get impulsive and buy things with next to no research. I don't know.
  6. At the final boss of FF9 I had Dagger go into trance and attacked with Ark. With the long animations turned on, it's the longest attack animation in the game. Then, after every other action, she would use Ark. Even if that other action was her healing my team. And it didn't stop after her trance ended. I was pretty young when this happened and it made the battle pretty easy for me, but it also made it incredibly long.
  7. I'm assuming the interaction between characters picks up once you leave the starting areas, but a little something would have been nice. It was kind of weird seeing how okay Alfyn (or anyone else) was jumping into Therion's manor raid. Also, I got to H'annit right at the end of the 3 hours, and I was looking forward to her but the way she speaks drives me up the wall.
  8. I played as Alfyn and he could heal himself so he was about as tanky as his first boss, and then I moved on to Therion and while the boss seemed to have definitely scaled to match a party of two, it wasn't an issue. Also, Therion has access to a self heal skill (I didn't choose it, I was more concerned with sharing his SP with Alf) so that probably helps him a little bit during his fight. Then I quickly ran through Ophilia's intro before deciding to wait for the game to come out (I won't remember anything that's going on and I don't want to have to replay 6 of the stories) and she had an easy time with her boss as she can heal and summon a townsfolk who dealt ridiculous amounts of wind damage to the boss. Obviously I can't say about anyone else, and I can definitely see Primrose having difficulty if she doesn't have much healing access. In that case maybe start with someone bulkier or with healing powers and then move on to get her. The enemies in the areas between each starting location seem pretty weak and you can skip past the other characters' starting towns if you want to get to someone who's not adjacent to your starting choice. But this demo has me more leaning towards getting the game than before. I like that each character has their own unique function. It seems really well thought out and it's really beautiful (though I preferred it in handheld mode; it didn't look half as good on the TV).
  9. I was trying for M!Morgan and wound up with Helpful!Chrom when they first came out. I really wasn't interested in pulling another sword user, and didn't have the orbs to keep pulling. And yet I think he has stayed on my main team longer than Morgan ever would have. He's always being helpful: he sort of showed up for me as soon as Dragon Teams started being really common.
  10. I joined up a while ago, but it was a while before I could make a topic to introduce myself. Anyway, I have been a fan of Fire Emblem since Path of Radiance came out. I used to be part of the online community at the time, but disappeared for most of the past 5+ years. I've played Blazing Sword, Path of Radiance, Shadow Dragon, Awakening, Fates, Echoes, Heroes and Warriors. Outside of Fire Emblem, I'm quite in to Pokemon, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, InFamous, Stardew Valley, Soul Calibur, and Dynasty Warriors (prior to the most recent installment, 9, which was a laughable disaster). I'm sure I'm missing some of the games I really like playing here but that's okay. Oddly enough, my online handle came from an entertaining evening of playing a Guilty Gear game, where you could use two characters at once, yet I wouldn't say I'm a fan of the series. I miss the old community and look forward to spending some time here at SF, as most of my friends aren't fans of Fire Emblem. So Hello!
  11. You're absolutely right. I'm really unsure what I was thinking. Sorry. I think my issue was that even when she realised she was wrong, she could never change her traction. But as you said, it is a flaw acknowledged in the game. Also I feel like I want to point out I do actually really enjoy oboro as a character. And most of the cast. I just had a bit of an issue with the fairly skewed presentation of nohr as evil and hoshido as good.
  12. Oh my gosh I would love a Map Maker, but only if it isn't a half hearted attempt. If they could develop an intuitive UI and proper peer reviewing it would be amazing. But I can't see them doing a great job of this, since the My Castle wasn't even all that good. But you're right about it extending the game's life, and they could even make it profitable to themselves if they wanted to release extra content to a Map Maker mode as time went on.
  13. I definitely like the idea of it I'm just afraid of how it would be implemented. But I have a feeling this is something you have a better idea of and I'm just struggling to interpret it properly. I would definitely like them to pause the timer. Like I mentioend, Lyn's is super short, but then there's Sakura; whose warrior attack could be super short but they made it super long. So yeah, pausing the timer would be nice, especially since everything does slow down anyway. The bond charm honestly could have had its own slot. I think part of the interest for me is that earlier in the game you have to choose between healing yourself or your allies, and once Lianna has purchased Live to Serve, anyone else can get it. That seems like a name Owain would give Inigo's weapon. Something I didn't mention earlier, but I would actually like to see some new maps. After all these History Battles, it'd be nice to have some fresh battlefields in the mix!
  14. It was definitely intentional, and it oddly made me like a lot of the Nohrians more than the Hoshidans. While it did seriously bother me with some characters (like Peri, who outright shouldn't have been put in a position such as hers), for the most part it seemed like it also built some interesting characters for me. I had a bigger problem with the fact that "Nohr is evil" created a dichotomy with "Hoshido is good". As a result a lot of what Hoshido did throughout Birthright and Conquest really bothered me, but I felt like I was supposed to just accept it as just. The Nohrian "good guys" often were aware what they were doing was painful for Corrin and also pretty morally wrong, but they also went out of their way to reduce casualties for Corrin's sake, even if begrudgingly. We then had Hoshido, who while being wronged by Nohr before the game, happily leave a trail of bodies as they cut a swath through Nohr. The ninja's were presented as honorable, despite being assassins and spies like Beruka and Niles. Oboro's blatant Xenophobia was a problem for me because unlike the flaws of the villainous Nohrians, it's never really suggested that she's even remotely in the wrong. But yeah, it was definitely intentional with how they presented both sides of the conflict. Interesting though because IS is a fan of reusing concepts on characters, it would be fun if in future games we fought villains that blatantly reminded us of the characters we got to use in Conquest!
  15. You can not use the awakening and warrior attacks (I tend to do this when time matters). I really like using Sakura but her warrior attack is just a lot of her standing around posing. I really liked Lyn for having a super fast one. I agree it would be cool if they added a few extra mission types, although I'm afraid that hold the line would just result in leaving a bunch of healers around. Or just be very frustrating in general. But I definitely would enjoy even more variety (I'm pretty happy with what we have now, just more is always welcome). Naming weapons would be a silly little extra I would love to see included just for fun. A nice allusion to the Fire Emblem games that wouldn't affect gameplay. I think limiting the inventory actually helps with when you're planning at the start of the mission.
  16. I see a lot of things here I like! I definitely think Bonus Experience with clear objectives combined with a well structured Arena system that can't be abused to the nines would be awesome. I really got tired of grinding the random monsters across previous battlefields in Awakening and Birthright/Revelation. It also really mucked up the story for me, because all sense of urgency was lost. The EXP DLC maps also felt cheap. These didn't particularly offer any fun or rewarding play. I also didn't like how sparse EXP was in Conquest, as I liked past games offering some way to catch up if you screwed up any units (either RNG or permadeaths), like the BEXP or Arenas. I think they could do a nice mix of a merchant convoy and visiting shops in maps. I think you could have a basic convoy to visit between battles, but also include a merchant unit to bring to battle. They could offer access to your convoy (instead of the Lord), and maybe even sell really basic weapons to your other units in a pinch. I also think it would be cool if there were talented blacksmiths who could sell rare weapons or maybe grant unique upgrades to ordinary weapons for a cost, or perhaps a black market you could send a merchant unit to either buy rare items or expand the available items in your own merchant convoy. I also agree with paralogues needing some sort of revamp. I like the idea of some paralogues having weird requirements to unlock, as well as only being available at some points in the story. I think they could do fun ones like Member Cards, or quick small ones (like a little bandit raid), or pity ones that offer a chance for some much needed EXP if you've had too many characters die (but not like the New Mystery of the Emblem where you would intentionally kill off characters to get some of the new [sub par] characters) or your highest leveled character is just not good enough. Again, like the random monster maps I find a lot of the paralogues now just tear me away from the main plot and it's just a little weird. I think the huge unending paralogue maps could easily be made into challenge maps for the post game.
  17. I found it qutie interesting seeing what people do and do not like about Avatars and S Supports. I think both could be included if they weren't just reiterated from previous games. Thoughts on the avatar: I noticed (and agreed with) a few people mentioning Mark as a nice avatar unit with little influence over the plot. I like the idea of being the tactician (since it actually ties in with you playing the tactical fire emblem game). While I did enjoy playing as Robin, I think removing the tactician as a unit and just directing the battle avoids the risk of having a Mary Sue. I think their inclusion to the plot could be handled simply as the advising tactician to the main lord character. I would definitely still enjoy being able to customize the look of the avatar. I also think they could include the avatar in a lot of base conversations with rest of the cast, without having to create a ridiculous amount of support conversations with them. My first Fire Emblem game was Path of Radiance, and I remember in my first playthrough I let Rhys die by accident and I believe Titania had special dialogue about how my actions caused his death. I think characters could react to the Avatar based on stuff like that. They could really trust the avatar's judgment if they don't mess up a lot, or be really upset if the Avatar let someone they have a higher support with die or get hurt (casual). If there were decisions presented during battles, units could react to the avatars decisions, like even if it's just wishing the avatar pushed them a little further to save all the villages from bandits, or you saved all the villages but someone died or got hurt, them questioning if it was really worth it). Also I remember finding it really weird in PoR that Soren was the tactician but I was directing the battles before and after he joined. Thoughts on S supports: Nothing about S supports tells me it has to be a romantic support. It was just a higher rank than A, which we've seen with weapons. My biggest problem with S supports is the children. They made sense in the plot (even if time travel is a bleh plot device), but they tended to outshine their parents, and grinding for skill inheritance was a little lackluster. Then along came Fates, and the deep realms made absolutely no sense to me. But they also introduced the Partner Seals and Friendship Seals. With children who felt so out of place, and another interesting use for S supports, I got to thinking they could treat S supports like the old A supports (with rivalries, bittersweet sentiments, friendships, romances, etc) and just offer some sort of inheritance at the S rank, like perhaps a class or a skill. It would make the characters more customisable than in the old games, but wouldn't risk having them be overshadowed by their children. I would also like limited S supports, but also fair supports. Fates drove me nuts with characters like Reina (whom I loved). She joined earlier than several characters with full sets of supports, but only had Corrin. Heck, she didn't even support Orochi, Mikoto's other main retainer. They also did a doozie with Flora and Jakob, and a lot of other characters (Scarlet, Yukimura, etc.). Even in Awakening, Say'ri, Tiki, Basilio and Flavia and Anna all lacked decent support options. Basilio and Flavia could easily have supported each other. It just made me sad because I never really wanted to include these characters on my teams because of it, even when I really liked them.
  18. This is really fun to think about. I would pass over Fates in Season 2, just where they already have about all they need, especially if Inigo, Severa and Owain were given costumes to look like their fates appearances. Shadow Dragon: Costumes for Celica and Anna. Camus: Paladin, Sable Knight - A lance cavalier. Obvious choice. Awakening - Costumes for Inigo, Severa and Owain as Laslow, Selena and Odin. Panne: Taguel, Taguel Survivor - Another Stone user. I think it would be cool if her dodge was the weird ball that she uses to transform in Awakening, and then her running animation was transformed and she was really fast like a mounted unit. I think I'd rather her moveset have her transform rather than waiting for her awakening like Tiki, because Panne doesn't seem the type to hop around throwing her beast stone at people the way Tiki does. Inigo: Mercenary, Hero - Axe using variant. Axes are from the hero, but they did it with Sakura and Elise. The game already has Olivia, Owain and Xander, so I can't see why not to add him. Severa: Bow Knight, Star Knight - A bow cavalier. With Cordelia, Owain, Inigo and Camilla in, it'd be really weird not to have her. The Blazing Sword: Hector: Lord, Great Lord - An armor unit and an axe unit. He's what we need. And Lyn probably misses fighting with him all the time. Matthew: Thief, Assassin - I'd like a dagger user, but he used swords in his game and the system isn't in this one (not that I think they'd be that hard to implement). But like his own game, his swords could look like daggers, or he could mostly use daggers that are part of his costume, and only take out his sword for certain moves (kind of the opposite of Lyn and Navarre). Eliwood: Lord, Knight Lord - Xander Clone. Just so he doesn't feel left out. He seems really easy to add and kind of weird to leave out. Rath: Nomad, Nomadic Trooper - Severa Clone. Like Eliwood, he'd be easy to slap together and add a little extra variety. Goes good with Lyn. Season Pass Bonus: The first season had Lucina in her bride outfit. This one could give Anna and Niles a new moveset that's not a clone of the Hoshidan archers.
