Mark the Tactician

Is it worth sinking a lot of money into leveling up each region? I feel like I might've messed up by doing this (leveled them all up to 3), since I'm starting to question if that money was better spent on buying more weapons/items and forging stuff.

I never use Optimize Equipment in any game. I'd rather trust my own judgment as far as equipment is concerned.

You know, I honestly think that this is a major weakness in the setting of Three Houses/Three Hopes. In the grand scheme of things, it just feels too much like Claude and the Leicester Alliance/Federation is just a third wheel in Fodlan, while the Empire and Kingdom have the real meat of the plot of both games, and unfortunately neither game has really done a good job of dissuading me of that mindset.

So the title is essentially a question of which outcome in the war is the most favorable between the timelines. A considerable amount of changes take place due to Shez's presence in the game, not the least of which involve TWSITD being exposed early on, and the war itself getting an early start.... and having played all three routes in Three Hopes, it had me wondering.... did Shez's survival at the very start ultimately change things for the better on all three paths compared to Byleth coming to the monastery originally, or should he have perished as he likely had in Three Houses? I'm trying to look at it as Crimson Flower VS. Scarlet Blaze, Azure Moon VS. Azure Gleam, and Verdant Wind VS. Golden Wildfire. I welcome anyone's thoughts on this topic.

Sacred Stones and Awakening for me

From the looks of things, Raphael's future looks grim in this poll.

Tough call here, honestly. I could've probably picked Lorenz, because I find his personality amusing... or Lysithea, due to her incredible skills in magic. Ultimately though, I have to go with Marianne. Her whole personality kinda resonates with my own, and she can be pretty strong if used wisely.

As with every avatar I play, I always pick male Byleth in this case.

Well, that happened. Guess I'll throw my vote in for Mercedes then.

Seems Annette and Ashe are both going to be down and out from this poll soon. What a shame...

Not sure if this counts, but I think I read somewhere that Rhea was a re-incarnation of Seiros. I didn't really buy it myself even when I first started playing. They just look far too similar to me that I figured it was more likely that they were one and the same.

Dedue getting axed didn't really surprise me, though I was surprised Ingrid also ended up gone. I actually thought Felix would end up eliminated instead. Ah well... still voting Annette.

Still voting Annette. Hope she goes far on this one.

As much as I liked Edelgard the most, I'm happy enough with Dorothea winning. She's my other favorite. 😄

So I'm playing through this side story, and it's got me wondering... For each new playthrough I do, am I going to need to play through this side story every time in order to unlock the extra characters/classes/items for that playthrough?

Huh, no wonder Claude seemed like such a 'third-wheel' during his route... and that's that I did his path first. Honestly, it's disappointing that his route and the church route are simple re-hashes of one another.

Currently starting my 4th playthrough of the game, and having done Golden Deer, Black Eagles, and Blue Lions in that order, this is what I think... In the end, I like the Black Eagles - Empire route the best. Personally for me, a lot of Edelgard's supports seemed to humanize her pretty well, which allowed me to sympathize with her end goals easily enough. Not only that, but it also feels pretty interesting to play as the 'villain' in this route as well, considering we're upending a status quo that's been in place for a long time. The only disappointing things are that it's shorter than the other routes and we don't personally get to take down TWSITD ourselves. Granted, Golden Deer (and the Church route) have answers for the true history of Byleth and the world around them, but strangely that wasn't really enough to hold my interest.

Just completed the Golden Deer path. I did exactly that, and all the paired endings I was hoping for did come to pass.

I've only ever gotten Mercurius in my Golden Deer playthrough, though the fact that I had to max out my Professor Level (finally did on the second to last chapter) to even forge it makes me think it's little more than a novelty than anything else.

I chose Dorothea, mainly because it made the most sense to me as far as who to make that class. That said, although she won, how can I tell if she did become one? Her class is still Mage from what I can see. Is it just a skill now, or does she need some kind of certification? I didn't find it listed anywhere when I checked.

I think only Ginger or Four-Spice Blend works on her. Haven't had any Tea Time with her yet to confirm it though.
