I'll just make them weak. Str cap just too low to ORKO frail units, speed cap just too low to double fast enemies. Actually i would redesign the class system a lot, but the gist of it is the more you move the weaker you are.
And flyers in fates and awakening are very good.
That really doesn’t help, just make them shittier isn’t a good rework. Falcoknight’s Str ain’t that high in the first place, Spd is all they really have outside of movement. But Fates/Awakening Falcoknights where easily the worst class in those games, everything they could do something else does better and with more options elsewhere. Dark Flier and Malig Knight are different but I feel they are well enough balanced stat wise.

Aside from then fact that THERE IS NO CANON ROUTE (or ship), you also have a lot more time to get Edelgard's supports up to A than you do Rhea. Edelgard you only need up to C+ before Ch11, and given how many chances you have to get points with her in cutscenes alone, that's not difficult at all. Rhea on the other hand needs B before Jeralt's death, AND A before the end of Part 1. And since she isn't playable and thus can't be your backpack for support points, you have to bury her with gifts to make it in time.
I get that, and that is why it’s in quotations. And yes it’s easier for Edie but you can’t argue that it game is set to be Snow from the start if you pick BE. I think the OP will need to come up with their own reasoning as it seems to falling into one of three reasons “she is forced down our throats” “She is best girl” and “She is totally smitten with Byleth”

Balancing flyers is not hard. They just need to not have good enought combat, so their mobility means that alone they can only be useless everywhere and they can only do shit in support of other classes.
I may be alone in this but I love the falcoknight class and I do not ever want to see that sad excuse of a flier from Fate/Awakening again. Shifting away from combat would make the opposite true, I don’t see a team slot open for a unit that can’t maintain themselves outside of dedicated healers. But if you think re-tooling fling roles is a good idea how would you implement it?
-
In fate/awakening/3H the balancing comes down to more or less player discipline, where I feel previous games made the class more important. That is why I would take reclassing out. Rework classes and make them more important again, you could have an OP class but if the character didn’t have good growth that would balance a bit better. Instead of just reclass and fix growths.

I don't really see Rhea as a cannon ship being pushed by the game. If anything it's the most difficult ship in the game to get, being regulated to one route and requiring actual action on the player to get rather than being automatic
The exact same thing applies to Edie too, and the game play automatically puts you on snow so I see Rhea as “more canon” then Edie.

Well it’s not class they could bring back wind edge or storm sword. I like the whip idea, they could easily make effect whips. The summoner coming back would be cool it could be like invoke where each character would summon a set class phantom.
-
That would be interesting, I could see some crazy plans working around that. Whips eh? Would they hold to the standard iron/steel/silver types or would they be something different like hard or studded leather?
-
That would be hard to get used too. You could give them unique skills that may break the game, like maybe a giant bird could ferry 2 unmounted allies its movement range, that would take its turn but that would really help low movement characters. Ferry not rescue so the ferried units could still acted

To my knowledge, I have yet to see a class that explicitly focuses on magic and bows or axes. That would be something. Or bring some of the stranger combos (i.e. armored staff) from Heroes into the main series.
They did do an axe/magic unit the Oni Chieftain from fate, which while a novel idea was very bad in practice... if they changed up the growths and/or skill to make them something different like drop their Def and Res but boost their Str and Mag to make them a dual type glass cannon.
-
Well discounting 3H WL and FK I don’t think they are too strong. I hope future FE get rid of dismounting or make it a one and done thing. Like you got of your wyvern in the middle of the battle, that’s it your on foot now.
-
I’m okay with most classes returning, but I would love the tier 3 classes mostly ... and not overclasses
-
I fully agree on Haly best class by far.
Kirin Knight (promotes from Valkyrie)
8 move-mounted (no-dismount)
stats- Good Hp and Def, average Str and Mag, Low Skl, high Spd and Res
Weapons- Staffs, Light magic and Swords
skill- Boon, removes status effects and debuffs from adjacent allies at start of turn
Basically a solid and mobile frontline healer
-
Create new classes or reworks to old classes you would like or hope to see in the next FE. That includes skills(class or learned), weapons and hidden abilities.

Edelgard and Byleth is a terrible pair, I see her feelings is more infatuation then affection. She is more in the Tharja/Rhajat camp and those two are very split in the fanbase. As for the feeling, faye flat out tell alm her dream of having his kids and he pretty much tells her screw your dreams. Simple feeling are bad when the game or characters make them one sided. Her “needed” Byleth is just a big red flag.

I'm not sure if you've been paying attention to the datamines or not, but the classes have already been decided. Better master classes would be nice though. I don't agree on nerfing Bow Knight though. It's a master class for a reason and it requires some steep investment. Removing it's bow range and giving it standard 1-2 range isn't good at all because then the class would be no different from a cavalier/paladin with a bow equipped imo. Bowranges are what make the archer class line unique.
Master classes aren't meant to be final classes. Advanced Classes are more than good enough to go to the final level with. If you maxed out a Swordmaster and want them to learn another skill, then Assassin would be a good way to go if you don't want them to learn Reason. Not every advanced class necessarily needs a corresponding master class because they're good as is.
I'm not sure what you mean by forcing your characters to learn new skills. If you don't want them to, then don't?
Weaker characters don't need buffs. Any character can become a monster with some babying, Cyril included. Cyril is kind of underrated imo. He has easy access to the best non-lord class in the game, Wyvern Lord, as well as Aptitude. Granted, Aptitude isn't as good in this game as it in previous entries, but Cyril can become great. He also gets Point-Blank Volley at C Bows, which is one of the best bow combat arts in the game. Plus, weaker characters always have ways to be useful, especially in this game. If they're weaker, make them a dancer, or a thief, or a healbot. You have so much freedom with designing your units, you can find a niche for a certain character to fill.
Then what is the point of the master classes? They don’t add something with out the intention of it being used. I would prefer flat upgrade over worthless side-grade any day... I have to agree with OP give more infantry master classes and better weapon requirements for them, not just lance, the class system is easily the worst aspect of this game

Well I got to level with you, I can do the same with most NA releases (barring SD and 3H), but it is just to much after a point. Many-ish people could be the same but not everyone, and even to someone who loves to grind this game just has to much filler in between fights. The free fights and side battles never change, the same enemy placements just different classes. It gets really old, really fast and gotta say playing thru while holding down the skip button is an option but why “play” the game then?
-
Nothing for sure but the “final” dlc for 3H isn’t out yet so maybe they are waiting till the end of it to announce it. Hopefully
-
I would like to see a Warriors Orochi 3 U amount of playable characters! But back to reality rework some of the old guys(Minerva) and make Dario playable. Then for new units you have the big one(Byleth and the leaders) I would like 2 students from each class and maybe 1 more for each on dlc. I would like some Laguz... all those stones and only one unit to wield them...
-
Yea, fully agree, being the kind of person who plays FE to death after the 4th route I just couldn’t bring myself to do another one. I actually saved and quit in the middle of a level and started playing Fate. That’s not a good place to be.( apologies to everyone who likes Fate, I think it’s mediocre)
-
It’s good but I feel it’s not quite the best, solid 3rd place for me. The class system and the terrible replay factor favor heavily against it. I do think it only loses to SS and PoR/RD.
-
The only time I can see the holy knight is when grinding lvl, they do have good growths but that is it.
As for battalion renewal, I fell it’s just bad do to requirements. Renewal may be harder to get for some but it has no extra triggers, and many who have trouble with getting that can get heal focus. So that will be a no to both but an asterisk next to Holy Knight
-
I would love to see a remake/sequel to SS as it’s one the the few stand-alones... I would even take just a graphics update... but I would like to see a new FE in a new world. I hope it does away with 3Hs bad class system thou, locked classes and branching.
-
Well we can only hope the opposite can happen here disappointing trailer but good game... right?
-
Well I can see multiple groups in different parts or maybe the split in SS where the destination is the same put the paths are slightly changed
What new classes would you like to see in the next FE
in General Fire Emblem

If you can only have fun playing an efficient playthru and putting stock on tier lists then I know I can’t reason with you. I play for fun, I don’t care about top tier classes and strats. I use the units I like regarding of class and potential, having played as long as a have I never thought knight and archer where bad. If you don’t like fliers don’t use them, efficient no, but that is your choice.
