  1. Oh I wasn’t surprised that she’s popular. She’s a great character, I’m just surprised she’s number 2 in CYL.
  2. EH i think the popularity Bridge between Dimitri and Edelgard is pretty Slim. Outside of Korea they're the Number 1 and Number 2 most popular characters in almost every poll, including CYL 4 as it seems unless Claude has more votes, but i doubt it. I'm not surprised at all by Edelgard. I am surprised by Lysithea, like i get she's probably the most popular student besides the Lords, but being above Female Byleth and Robin was really surprising. Ditto for Male Robin, i thought he would be in top 5. People should just vote for Dalsin.
  3. Going to adress the games I've played, so Rip Gaiden. I also like Etheus idea of two different rankings, as obviously comparing Fire Emblem to Fire Emblem is different than comparing Fire Emblem to Resident Evil. the parenthesis is mostly for comparing it to other games of the time however, as comparing every game to Ocarina of Time or Team Fortress 2 seems unfair, while the initial number is my ranking for it as a game overall rather than comparisons to games of the time. Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light - 3 (1) What started it all. It's basic fire emblem. Maps are ok outside of 1 range bosses that don't move and the gameplay is tolerable but it is very slow, i couldn't bear to play it on original hardware and would definitely rank it lower without fast forward. In comparison to other games it just feels empty. Compared to other games of the time you have Doom, Super Mario World, Megaman 3. And even comparing it to lesser games like Earthworm Jim it still feels like a game i would never consider playing over them ever. Geneology of the Holy War - 9.5 (7) This game has a phenomenal Story in my opinion, I love most parts about it and it feels very engaging and emotional. The gameplay definitely has it's issues but i enjoy things like the Pawn Shop system, and it has the best Inheritence in the franchise and it overall has some of my favorite fire emblem mechanics. My second favourite Fire Emblem. In comparison to other games it easily has one of the best stories still which really carries it high, but from a pure gameplay perspective it pales in comparison to some other games released in the same year. Resident Evil and Super Mario 64 triumph it and i would prefer to play those games if i wasn't playing for Story and Characters. Thracia 776 - 8 (5) Solid, Weird gimmicks that work well in Thracia but i wouldn't want to return in future fire emblems. Fun, but absolutely horrible for blind playthroughs. In comparison to other games it's still a good playthrough, but i would definitely consider better. It being barely beginner friendly is a big hamper too. Binding Blade - 8 (7) My favorite GBA Fe Game. Great map design outside of paralouges, simple yet fun, it goes back to the Shadow Dragon and the blade of light formula, but greatly improves on what that game had flaws with, such as most bosses having 1-2 range, higher difficulty and better enemy variety. In comparison to other games it definitely stands out as one of the better ones. It's gameplay isn't hurt by any lack of guide and its simplicity adds to it, making it a very solid GBA title. Blazing Blade - 7 (7) I like the three lord concept, even if Lyn isn't great and Eliwood is bad until promotion but it was a cool concept. The story is pretty bad but while a Good story can add greatly to a game in FE4's case, a bad story doesn't need to detract since you can skip it. In terms of gameplay and map design, it's probably fe6 lite. A bit easier but still fun. My first game in the series. In comparison to other games it feels rather complete and fleshed out. It never feels lacking and is a great introduction to the SRPG genre Sacred Stones - 5 (7) Sacred Stones was the first open world map Fire Emblem since Gaiden, and it never truly feels like a proper Fire Emblem to me. It isn't a bad game by any means but i don't really like it as a Fire Emblem game. That said it has it's pros such as map design, and the route split is interesting, and differs greatly from Thracias A/B and Illia/Sacae from before. Comparitivly to games of the time it actually holds up pretty well. Of course it isn't Halo 2 or Half-Life but it was the best GBA game of the year in my opinion. Path of Radiance - 8.5 (9.8) Path of Radiance has my second favorite Fire Emblem story and has some great gameplay. Tellius has my favorite map design in the series and Fe9 delivers. The units are fun to use and, with the exception of Maniac Mode, enemy placement and diversity feels fair and fun. It holds up incredibly well for the games released the same year however. Easily being my second favorite of the year. Radiant Dawn - 10 (9.8) Personal favorite Ost, Maps, Units, all sorts of things in it. Radiant Dawn is amazing. I love the swapping between armies, I love the early Dawn Brigade Maps, I love part 2, I love part 3. Of course it has it's flaws. Such as the route heavy end game, but i think the pros greatly outweigh these weaknesses. Comparatively it was my second favorite game released that year. And while i didn't start playing it until 2013, Tf2 would surpass it. Shadow Dragon - 7.5 (6) In terms of just Normal Mode and Hard 1 this game is almost as meh as the original, but the Difficulty increase makes it very enjoyable to play. The reclass system, while full of it's issues (and i personally prefer no reclass) was a great addition that spiced up the series. Forging was improved greatly from the Tellius games and it succeeds in both replicating the original whilst improving on it's flaws in many ways. Of course because it's based on SDaTBoL it suffers from one range bosses on thrones but outside of that it's very solid. Comparatively it falls off just because of all the great games released in 2008 but it still holds up in the top 20 of that year. New Mystery - 7.7 (6.5) This game is an overall improvement on Shadow Dragon outside of Kris. It has fe3's better story, and maps, whilst improving upon Shadow Dragons existing concepts such as forging. Rip substitute units. Comparatively it was released the same year as Halo: Reach and SMG 2 along with other greats so it falls off there. Awakening - 5 (8) Much like SS i think this is a good game, but a bad Fire emblem Game, open map is too easy to grind in on lower difficulties and forces you to grind in order to clear shops, and impossible to grind in on higher difficulties thus locking you from shops. Pair up is easily my least favorite Fire Emblem Mechanic, I don't like how centralizing it is and basically transforms units into backpacks. Terrible Map design. It does have good things however. The skill system, while not as good as tellius is still solid, and the unit variety is high. Child units make a return and both make sense from a story stand point and have good inheritence mechanics and despite the bad story, the cast is pretty good. Comparitivly it was probably the second best game of 2013 that i've played. (never played Last of Us but hear it's good) It was fun and took up a lot of time for me but it never had the same competition that Radiant Dawn or Path of Radiance had. Conquest - 6 (4) Improved on Awakening for the most part. Having actually good maps and getting rid of open map and forced grinding. The over centralization on Pair up does stop it from potentially being one of the best. Won't even mention Story, some Characters are pretty enjoyable. Comparatively it was released in 2015 alongside over 20 games better than it. Revelations - 1 (0) I don't want to remember this. Comparatively it was my least favorite game i played that year. Echoes: Shadows of Valentia - 6 (6) Story is pretty solid with enjoyable cast. Probably 4th or 5th favorite Fe story. My favourite open map FE. I like the split armies, though it wasn't pulled off as well as RD imo. the Grinding is really tedious however, and the Dungeons just reminded me of caves in Pokemon where you just find encounter after encounter with some simple boring puzzles littered in. My favorite part of the game was definitely customizing the villagers. Comparitivly it was ok. No Odyssey or anything but it scraped top 10. I didn't play it in 2017 but if i did it would end there anyway. Three Houses 9.3 (10) Best Story and Cast since Radiant Dawn. Great Gameplay mechanics, Solid World Building, despite the reuse of maps, the existing ones are pretty steller. The game has it's great points and they really mitigate it's flaws. Favorite game of the year.
  4. You gain the same amount of class exp and weapon exp, however due to the increased enemy stats and density you will experience much more combat, and as such you will probably reach S ranks on people specialising in one weapon type.
  5. Just started playing Shadow Dragon Hard-5 so i decided to make these two. One good and One bad. Jagan Gordin
  6. When characters auto level they level average stats based upon their growths + class enemy growth rates, For example Casper has a 45% Strength growth and a base of 9. His first 4 levels have no growth boosts so he gains 1.8 strength, or since it rounds up, 2 points of strength. Then he moves into Fighter, boosting his Strength Growth to 55% since the enemy fighter class has a 10% increase in Strength Growth. In his 5 levels in this class he will gain 2.75 strength, or 3 points rounded. This means that when you recruit him (for Level 10 i believe it's Chapter 5) he will have 14 Strength before class modifiers. Some of the Faculty Units however are always in their starting class, so all of Catherine's auto levels will have the SM growths, while all of Cyril's will have no growth boosts.
  7. In the Resident Evil 2 Remake (2019), At the beginning of the game you have the option to wander the streets in Racoon City. There is a store named Awagomihs. This is a reference to Teurohiro Shimogawa, a Capcom employee and chief writer for the Mega man series.
  8. The Australian Magpie is not actually related to European Magpies. It is more closely related to Birds of the Cracitus Genus. The reason it is called a Magpie is because when the British first colonised Australia, they had a habit of naming things that looked similar to their European counterparts after said counterparts.
  9. I think the main reason that LoneRecon was ignoring tutoring Caspar was because in his original response to Ishmael, Ishmael was saying Caspar was being recruited at chapter 11, meaning he would have no tutoring, but when Caspar is recruited at chapters 5 he will have that extra room to catch up to Alois ranks. In terms of your original Arguments of Alois versus Casper, I think in terms of Wyvern your argument has a ground and makes sense, but I think some of Alois other options over Caspar still make him better, and I’ll also go into their other two common class options, War Master and Fortress. You already addressed but the fact that he joins with the class masteries easily, but I still think Alois has a monopoly on ranks outside of Flying if going Wyvern on both. Caspar auto joins with C brawling and Axes at Ch 5. If you want to make Caspar a War Master then you don’t really need much else other than authority, but realistically will only be able to achieve C authority and One of A axes or A brawling. Considering that you won’t be auto focusing on both since you want to focus Authority as well. Compared to Alois he will either have C axes in comparison to Alois’ A or C brawling in comparison to Alois’ B, Alois will also benefit from the C armour he has, and no boon in authority means he will still gain it faster than Caspar. In terms of Wyvern and Fortress Knight Casper will probably need to settle for B axes as he needs to raise his Flying/Armor ranks. This means that Alois will have B brawling compared to Caspars C as well as a higher Axe rank at the cost of having a Lower flying rank or slightly worse Armor rank. Alois will also have overall better stats than Casper, his initial offence may be slightly lower due to lack of Death Blow, but once he picks up the skill himself he will have overall better combat then Casper while still having a significant bulk lead over Caspar, when both are in FK their bulk is good enough but a WM/Wyvern Caspar is lacking while Alois can usually survive a few rounds. Of course Casper will have better overall ranks than Alois in SS/CF due to being there from the first tutoring session and IMO is a better unit there, but talking about VW specifically I think Alois beats Casper our.
  10. I have to agree with this for the most part. One of the main reasons I see for people saying you should late recruit Ingrid is because it makes her strength higher, But I’d rather have sooner DB, as the +6 strength she gets from that mean she that a chapter 6 recruited Ingrid with DB, will have an effectivly higher attack than a Chapter 11 recruited Ingrid thanks to her having Death Blow at that same point.
  11. I think its hard to say. While Caspar has terrible bases and gets one rounded, it isn’t difficult to get him kills since Smash has high accuracy and he has a good strength base. The advantages of being there forever are also just general better Weapon ranks, so he will be able to potentially obtain more class masteries like hit +20, or get skills like weight - 3. Caspars two best class options are Wyvern and War Master, so if you decide to go Wyvern he also gets a big boost on his flying for quicker alert stance, and it means he won’t struggle with the eventual Wyvern Lord promotion as he will have time to train lances and get close to A flying. In terms of War Master he will have a much greater Authority rank, and if he has a focus in something like Brawling and Authority, even without much tutoring he has a good chance of reaching B authority in the timeskip for use of the paralouge battalions.
  12. To be fair, in the original Japanese Script, Sorens dialect in the End 5 Base convo shows that he seems to feel some sort of affection for Ike. In the Tellius Memorial collection it also states 「互いの心をひとつにした」, which according to my great knowledge of Japanese (and google translate) means something like ‘They’re hearts were united as one’ which isn’t necessarily romantic in the sense but shows that Soren cares a great, albeit unhealthy and obsessive deal for Ike. Of course the English translation changed this and Soren doesn’t seem to care for Ike in a romantic way in that conversation, but other parts seem to be somewhat littered in the script. Ike never necessarily shows any signs of romantic affection to Soren however (or anyone for that matter) so Ike x Soren is very clearly not canon. I always imagined Ike as being asexual anyway. — On topic of Sigurd and Deirdre, i feel like it wasn’t supposed to be written as some compelling romance. It was obviously hurt by the Snes but i feel the writers moreso wanted to use the relationship as a way to make the tragedy surrounding them more impactful.
  13. Depends on the unit honestly. For a unit like Lysithea, Marianne or Byleth I could consider it since they have more then Nosferstu, everyone else I wouldn’t consider however. Even on the units I mentioned above, they all have better options of attack then faith anyway. Lysithea and Marianne have better reason lists and Byleth does better with Physical weapons, so it ends up being so I want to have some extra hit and avoid when using sephiran or aura, or do I potentially want a skill slot for something better. I wouldn’t use it.
  14. Tis but a joke. ___ Question: I don't usually play NG+ but how does Sothis Sheild work? I know you scan an FE amibo but how do you unlock it?
  15. My Dedue in end game soloed the final boss since he took zero damage and i found that pretty funny. ___ In terms of the original post I'll address each units individually. I reccomend having Hp +5 on all units until they break 35 hp (not including Hp +5) since it can help drastically with bulk issues early game to have those high hit points. Don't have time for other units right now but I may review them sooner or later.
  16. Warp utility is really good, and i agree with Linhardt and Lysithea over Seteth, but Manuela has the worst warp range for starters, and Seteths combat is incredibly good. When warping a unit, you need to make sure the unit has good combat to hold their own for whatever reason you've warped them, such as blocking a point, moving to kill an enemy that was out of reach, or one turning a map. In this case a unit with good combat is arguably better than the warper since they're the one that does the killing. Seteth can orko most enemies after he gets SS whereas Manuela has pretty iffy combat too, and while Warping 15 tiles can be considered better then ORKOs or 7 range warp and great healing utility, 6 range warp and, like ward and silence? those are ok but not amazing, isn't better than that imo. I could make a similar argument for Shamir as she starts ORKOing when she gets Hunters Volley but i can see Manuela staying above her as Shamir only has 5 move and much more issues than Seteth has.
  17. Honestly, the idea of the non talking protagonist sounded cool to me at first, since i dreaded Corrin and Kris (Robin was ok) I thought they were going to be like the Persona protagonists, they have a lot of personality and character despite barely speaking. Sadly, Byleth was not like this, and them being so bland took away from the games story for me. They were the most tolerable on AM since that's arguably the route they're least important on since it's all about Dimitri, but SIlver Snow was terrible.
  18. Eliwood and Ninian definitely get's the most development but that isn't an option on the poll. Out of the options on the poll i see Micaiah and Sothe is winning, and i can agree with that, Their romance takes time to develop over the course of the game, with no real explicit mention of it and just hints sprinkled about, making it not fast like Sigurd or Deirdre, or in your face like Alm and Celica. Not options in the poll, and probably because it's kind of iffy if they're romantic since they only are in one version of the game, But Ike and Elincia in the POR localisation and Ike x Soren in the Japenese version of RD are pretty neat.
  19. Mostly agree with this but you can also have good enemy phase if you're tanky like Dedue, or have some sort of vantage wrath combo. Avoid tanking is the easiest one though since it only requires you to train Flying and have a good battalion and speed, while Vantage Wrath requires either low battalion health or mastery and Defence can still suffer from Poison Strike and not every unit has a personal skill that grants +4 Defence. I think Alois is a good deal better than Caspar, especially due to his base Authority rank, the difference between C and E is huge, especially since Caspar has a bane. Alois has a realistic chance of reaching A rank for Cihol Wyvern co or if you decide to make him a foot unit other good battalions, Caspar will probably reach C+ without favoritism if you recruit him late, and he is better recruited late so i don't see why you would recruit him earlier. Alois may get into Wyvern a little later due to his Flying bane, but he performs well foot locked anyway and he wants to run around in Brigand for 1 or 2 maps to get Death Blow so it doesn't matter too much. Why are you conflicted about Seteth? A tier seems fine imo.
  20. If they succeeded in winning the cup you simply will have to go to the reclass menu. To do this press X to open the journel, go to inventory and select reclass.
  21. Getting weight - 3 isn’t difficult per say but it basically delays getting Windsweep by 1-2 chapters.
  22. Forgot Annette was bad in bows do thats a fair point. I’ll use Ferdinand as an example here, Ferdinand has 11 magic on average by level 30, Bolt axe has 14 mt, with Helm Splitter his Atk against Armors is 64. In SS/VW/AM chapter 14, Fortress Knights average 58 hp and 7 Res, The FK will be left on 1 health. You’re right about it not being a one shot but people rarely one shot on maddening anyways and 1 hp means even a dancer can kill them. in terms of doubling, even with a 15 weight weapon physical units can still double armors. Assuming Ferdinand levels in Fighter/Brigand/Wyvern he has 26 str and 25 speed. His AS with a bolt axe is 15, enemy armors in ch 14 average 9 AS. He can double the, and will deal 38 damage on average, which is still pretty good chip. Of course people like Annette or Raph may not double, but Annette can one shot with Helm Splitter thanks to higher Mag, and Raph can still 2rko Armors pretty easily with Gaunlets. Bolt axe is still good for chip anyway, not just killing armors, you can deal 8 damage to a warrior From three range, and that’s now enough for your Lysithea/Lorenz/Hanneman etc. to one shot. Ofc it isn’t better than a hammer, but it’s an alternative that fills a similar purpose in killing armors, whilst having much more overall utility outside of that.
  23. I think on VW specifically she should be at least B+ even without considering the +3 Mt for Byleth and Seteth. She is the only auto recruit in VW to learn restore so if you want to save the investment of recruiting to other units like Petra or Felix you don’t need to recruit Linhardt or Mercedes, but most of all she gets Rescue, allowing for extra positioning utility. Only other units to get Rescue are bernadetta, who has bad magic and Anna, and Anna sucks. She might even be viable for A+ once the Dlc comes out since a flier with rescue is insane. Why is Claude below Male Byleth? I understand the argument for being below Female Byleth due to her getting 10 extra levels of flying utility but i see no reason for Claude to be lower then M-Byleth when he has better overall stats, along with Encloser and access to a better flying class.
  24. Pack 1: Skull/Ryuji Sakamoto (Persona 5) Will summon Captain Kidd to electric shoot projectiles at opponents while chasing enemies himself similar to Samurai Goroh. Pack 2: Erik (Dq11) Will appear on the stage and use Divide for a minimum of 6 seconds until you attack an enemy. When you hit an enemy Erik will strike them for heavy damage and knockback before leaving. Does more damage and knockback the longer he Divides for, maximum of 12 seconds. Pack 3: Bottles (Banjo Kazooie series) Will appear in the background and gives buffs to the user. Pack 4: Never played a KoF or Fatal Fury game so no clue. Pack 5: Dedue (Three Houses) Dedue will negate the Knockback of all incoming moves for 7 seconds by standing in front of the user.
  25. Man reading the recent things here just makes me really sad about how wasted Thales potential is. Solon and Kronya suck and TWSITD are really bad but Thales had some potential to be a good villain, he had all the same buildup as Manfroy and manipulates the playing field in the same way, but unlike Manfroy he falls flat in a lot of areas and ends up accomplishing nothing.
