  1. In general, it still depends on how many kills each unit gets, so dedicated healers will usually be around lower levels, at maybe lvl 35 in endgame. (Eg: Marianne) Defensive combat units, such as WMs Knights, Paladins and Wyverns should reach level 40 to 42. (Raphael, Hilda, Leonie, Lorenz) Frail combat units, such as snipers and mages should be a little under the physical units, at level 38 to 40. (Ignatz, Lysithea) Claude will easily reach Level 45 or above due to his extra exp gain, Byleth will get to 43 or something since he doesn’t gain auto levels upon timeskip. This is assuming no favouritsm but the levels shouldn’t be that lower than hard. The exp penalty actually isn’t that bad, since while you gain less exp, there are also more enemies per map, so it evens out somewhat.
  2. The thing is, liking the gameplay is subjective. I love fe4’s gameplay and how it involves gameplay story segregation. The wide open maps, the lover system and the introduction of the weapon triangle are all awesome things that I personally enjoy. I don’t think the mechanics have aged poorly at all, but I wouldn’t force anyone to play the game if they didn’t like the gameplay.
  3. Completely agree with this point. I enjoyed myself after my 4 play through on hard, but besides my first run through the game was very easy and I started hating the monastery due to how useless it felt. after Maddenings release I feel like everything matters, and the difficulty is actually difficult. It feels about as hard as RD hard mode imo, minus the Haar or Laguz Royals.
  4. If you S support Rhea she admits her wrong doing and asks byleth to fix it with her, but outside of that their is no real mention of those things and the S support is optional anyway and won’t be seen by everyone (like me who romanced someone else)
  5. I don’t find it that weird in VW since it makes sense for both Edelgards to fight on the front lines and for Dimitri not to team with Claude, it is pretty dumb in AM however, but despite how he died, I have a personal fondness for Rodrigus sacrifice. It would have made more sense as a Fog of War map, since then it would make sense as why alliance/kingdom attacks you. They even mention before the map that the weather is looking foggy. There are also no main story fog maps besides the lonato one, which isn’t even a true fog map. I am also glad that’s CF didn’t have Grondor, but not because it’s bad, but because it’s in grondor, and it would Ben really weird to suddenly have to retreat to grondor when Adrestia clearly has an advantage in the war.
  6. It’s no RD or Geneology, but it’s my favourite game of last year and second favourite game I played last year.
  7. I always have found staying in Paladin to be a better alternative to GK. Paladin still has better growth since over GK and doesn’t require speccing into heavy Armor and beyond C axes, meaning you get S+ Lances sooner, (a Sylvain who specs solely on lances from chapter 9 onwards should reach S+ Lances by Chapter 18 or 19. This is based off my experience however so take it with a grain of salt, he I may have just gotten a lot of greats when I tutored him.) Paladin also gives one extra point of strength over Great Knight in modifiers, so Paladin can do higher damage over Great Knights, not to mention having higher speed, higher move and pretty much greater in every stat other than Hp and Def. They’re worse at using Axes but most of the units who would go into GK prefer Lances. the topic of today is Holy Knights however, so I will refrain from speaking more about them until GK comes up. adding to list of potential things for future rounds besides GK, I think something on the worse defiant skills(all of them besides defiant crit and avoid) could be in a future round as those are often seen as poor.
  8. She does get Aura which has higher Mt, but imo the 3 range Thoron gives is more useful. Holy Knight is probably the 3rd worst master class in the game, with only Mortal Savant and Great Knight being worse. This is really the only time i could see Holy Knight being used over Dark knight. In terms of offense DK is better in all scenarios bar sephirim, and Bishop is better for support.
  9. Ghost Dimitri was so weird and jarring. When i first saw it i thought it would go somewhere, like maybe he would appear at Enbarr like Dedue does in VW, but nope. It was all a dream. It’s basically a “Hey professor having fun? Why don’t you try out my route next, look at all the mysteries surrounding me, don’t you want answers?” Thing from the developers.
  10. I didn’t mention Thyrus as it can’t be considered a part of Lysithea/Lorenz utility due to everyone being able to use it. It does fix the 2 range problems but you could also have a 5 range hubert. Besides it’s best to trade the thyrus and cadecus around rather than keep it locked to one unit. eg; using Thyrus on Lysithea to attack an enemy at 4 range, then using a flier to trade it away and canto near another mage so they can get it and have 4-5 range.
  11. I just did some calcs and it isn’t the same power, on average assuming Dorothea is a Gremory and Lorenz is A DK, Lorenz actually has higher damage. With Dorothea averaging a magic stat of 24.6 or rounded to 25, and Lorenz having a magic stat of 22 or with his prf 24. Dorothea then gets 30 Mag from Gremories class modifiers whereas Lorenz only gets 26, however Black Tomefaire makes his Magic reach 31 (or 33 with a ferdinand adjutant.) so i was wrong, Lorenz actually has higher damage than Dorothea for the late game as well. Of course if Dorothea is a Dark Knight she outdamages him but she isn’t realistically getting into Dark Knight. However i still think Hanneman, Lysithea and Hubert all best him as offensive mages. Even without Frozen Lance Lysithea has soul blade to boost her damage still beyond Lorenz, and you already mentioned Huberts frozen lance. That leaves Hanneman without a combat art. However at level 15 Hanneman has 19 magic, at level 20 he has 22.25 Magic and at level 25 he has 25.5 magic making his spells do more than Lorenz, Dorothea or any other mage could. Lorenz should average a Dex stat of 17.3 at level 25 making his Frozen lance add an effective damage of +8 to the base might. Using a Steel Lance+ Lorenz will have 49 attack adding on his Prf and the basic +4 magic battalion, Hanneman will have 49 attack with Ragnarok, yet will be able to attack from 2 range. Of course Lorenz could use a silver lance but you need to get him to B lances for that which will make him take longer to get Black magic range + 1, something he desperately wants due to lacking innate three range. After checking numbers i do think Lorenz is the 4th best combat mage on maddening, behind Lysithea with her higher damage, and Hanneman and Hubert, with their higher damage and three range. i addressed the hit +20 issue as moreso to make his accuracy even better, allowing him to reach 98 hit on post timeskip maddening Assasins with Ragnarok. Making him an incredibly reliable nuke or chipper. I would recommend getting hit+20 on any offensive mage as it makes them much more reliable. The linked attack boost is an issue with him in BL and GD but he supports with most of the BE and even on GD and BL he still has enough supports to not make him Anna levels of bad in the linked attack department. He also has built in Rally Magic, allowing you to give 1 extra warp range, or get another mage to a kill. I know this wasn’t directed at my post, but i want to add my opinion on these skills, lifetaker is really bad and no one but Hubert should be Dark Bishop. Poison strike is weird in that for most of the game it doesn’t really matter, however in some of the later maps, especially late game in maps like CF ch 17 or VW ch 22, where enemies have insanely high hp, it is pretty useful since it can add on up to 17 damage depending on the enemies, and the enemies on those maps have so much HP that you might need 3 untis to kill them without something like poison strike, though it is not necessary to beat those enemies since their are other ways to deal with them such as a brave weapon or stunning with gambits. Overall I wouldn’t say poison strike is super worthit since its a skill thats ok for some late game maps but overall pretty pointless. It’s there if you want it and it doesn’t hurt but there isnt a need for it.
  12. I don’t think farming rusted weapons on priests is a viable or even remotely good strategy, but you are the second person i’ve seen make a physical Lysithea build that works. The other was Chas Aria LLC but his Lysithea got Str Blessed.
  13. As someone who has played Maddening NG it is very easy to master multiple intermediate classes, and you can always make someone an adjutant to a bulky self sustainable unit like Felix or Alois and have them solo the map while the unit has the knowledge gem and masters the intermediate class.
  14. Hi, on a different account due to different devices. You didn’t mention Dorothea’s Agnes’s Arrow, which puts her damage above his. He does have higher damage than Marianne (she can do more damage with Aura however but that isn’t a reason spell.) but the utility that three range gives her, whilst still being able to do high damage makes her combat better, since it’s much easier to position her. The reason I think Hanneman and Hubert have better combat than Lysithea despite her slightly higher damage is due to their three range spells. Lorenz not having three range is a big deal, albeit not as big a deal as other mages not having three range due to his decent bulk. Lorenz bulk is his biggest seller, and it makes him the easiest mage to play around with the since if you accidently leave him in enemy’s range he won’t die, but as long as you take care of their positioning, Lysithea, Hubert, Dorothea and Hanneman all outshine him greatly. In terms of baiting enemies with him, while he can do it sometimes you are better off using a tanky unit like raph or dedue. While Lorenz will outdamage most mages in the mid game, the problem is that it’s the mid game, the easiest part in all difficulties, especially maddening where it is greatly easier than the rest of the game, so the higher damage is nice, but when the harder parts of the game role around his damage will only be on average. Lorenz is still good, and an underrated unit, but I think you’re trying to oversell his damage, where his real utility over other mages is his ability to live hits instead of being another’s glass cannon. Probably a B tier unit on non VW and Top of B or bottom of A on VW on topic of Hanneman. He still has a good amount of supports, but his hit rate is very much a non issue when he joins with C bows, allowing him to swap to archer and quickly get hit+20 in 1 or 2 aux battles with the knowledge gem. Meteor even with only 4 move is still very useful on maddening due to being able to chip or kill a threatening enemy from complete safety. It is pretty pointless on hard and normal but Hanneman is a lot worse on those difficulties for reasons I will soon discuss. Hanneman has horrible speed, which may sound bad, and on hard mode it’s Ian really bad. Thankfully, on maddening enemies are insanely fast and the only mage that will be able to double more than Armor Knights is Manuela. Hanneman’s Speed becomes much less of an issue when no mage doubles, and his high magic and great reason list really shines, especially post timeskip. He will have issues doubling Armor Knights at base, but if he gets a speed wing or 2 speed carrots he will be able to double all Armor knights in the game so long as he keeps leveling hid speed on average. i would rate Hanneman as a low A tier unit on all routes on Maddening, but on the easier difficulties he drops a lot since people can actually double, so low B or high C on hard and normal.
  15. AM’s final map is technically easier Ignatius you know how to cheese it with Battalion Wrath vantage and warping Dimitri into the middle since none ornaments the enemies have gambits, but that requires extensive planning to pull off, so for a first timer VW does have a much easier final map. On topic: from a lore perspective I think the best order is definitely VW first, since it reveals the truth behind fodlan’s history, Nemesis and Seiros, the 10 elites and crests and relics. SS briefly touched upon some of these but AM gives no information about them and CF has Edelgard give false exposition that she was led to believe (such as Sothis loving Nemesis and Seiros being jealous.) After VW I would say either AM or CF. AM has the best part 1 in the game due to the in house connections with certain characters (Sylvain and Miklan, Mercedes and Jeritza, Ashe and Lonato.) and having a character driven part 2 themes around Dimitri and his struggles with the world. Doing CF after VW lets you understand backstory and exposition allowing you to experience Edelgards motives and understand what actually happened in the past with the relics, and what were just lies fed to El by Arundel. Allowing you to experience Edelgards story without forming false conclusions. CF/AM must Be played one after another, since it lets you experience the motives of both Edelgard and Dimitri, allowing you to appreciate both characters without forming negative opinions due to how they’re depicted in each other’s routes. SS is last since it reveals similar things to VW, but reveals less about crests and the history, and more about the Avatar, so it can reveal things about Byleth, and why Rhea did what she’s did but I would say it’s less important than the exposition of VW, and the stories of Dimitri and El. So lore wise VW - AM/CF - AM/CF - SS I do think AM is the most beginner friendly gameplay wise since it has the easiest units to use and is tied for the highest number of maps with VW but Gwen Loren unique maps and variety. But from a Lore and overall standpoint VW is the best, since it makes the CF route more enjoyable and lets you have AM and CF next to each other. But that’s my opinion. For people new to fe it would probably be Am-Cf-VW-SS or AM-VW-CF-SS
  16. I was actually fine with Seteth being the “lord” since he’s one of my favourite characters, but some other character should have that that major role (with seteth keeping all his screen time.) perhaps Ferdinand could have had an extended role, or the Flayn thing mentioned above. i’m more interested about SS from a gameplay perspective though, and CF’s existence actively hurts the viability of 2 units. Catherine and Cyril suuuuuck so much due to the CF limitations and it seriously hurts them. No lord is bad, and while Seteth is good, you do not having time to get him running before chapter 13. The final chapter is a huge monstrosity too. I know it was developed first but VW feels like such a better route gameplay wise, with more maps and a way better final chapter.
  17. @vanguard333 I Have seen FMAB so i'm happy to review some of yours I can do Mustang for now but Let me know if you want me to do more. Only going to do Mustang for now since he was rather quick to do due to being pre promoted.
  18. @Dragoncat I have not played any of the Xenoblade games, but i do know a good deal about Shulk from maining him in Smash 4 and i think he should be good at Authority since he's able to rally his allies to his side. You could also give him a personal weapon/relic, being the Monado with some ability in it (like a combat art) that after use cycles between different arts and gives him various stat boosts depending on the art, such as increased strength with Buster or increased defense with Armour. I can't really give any more feedback due to not knowing anything else about the other characters. Anyway i wanted to make a Non Fire emblem character so here is the Demomanr from Team Fortress 2. Also adding in the Sniper.
  19. Basically any of the torture surrounding certain characters like Coupled with Dimitri's make me wonder how this game ever managed to not get an MA rating. In fact Dimitri post timeskip in general makes me wonder that, in some routes his Is downright depressing and seems like something that would be in a Dark fantasy novel, not Fire Emblem, this series is for Teens.
  20. That is... wow that is strange. Definitely weird but i can think of 1 support that are even weirder. Devdan and Nadved's supports with Largo. Devdan is a really strange guy, and all his supports and lines are super weird, he freaks out Nephenee by forcing her to smile and apparantly is not the same person as Danved. But the largo support, with his puppet and all that is just, really odd. https://serenesforest.net/path-of-radiance/scripts/supports/devdan-largo/
  21. As far as i know Gilbert is: all routes spoilers for Gilbert Below. Wouldn't call Rudolf Evil personally, since he's very similar to Edelgard in terms of ideals but he is dead so there is that, In fact due to how he neglected his people i would say Lima would be more evil. Other Valentia Dads would be. Berkut's dad - Dead. Fernand's Dad - Dead Sonya's Dad - Dead and Cartoonishly Evil. Virion's Dad - Dead. Say'ri's Dad - Dead
  22. I've only seen Dedue on one person's list and it's making me pretty sad. Gonna list my favourite in each Country and other factions. Faerghus: Dedue. Leicester: Lorenz. I do have a soft spot for Ignatz and like him a little more but thats more from a gameplay perspective rather than as a character. Adrestia: Tie between Ferdinand von Aegir and Linhardt.
  23. Focused alot on the story elements for Zelgius, so i'll cut it down here. Character profile: Name: Nolan Carter (Carter means Deliverer of Goods. Nolan was a Merchant before forming the Dawn Brigade in RD.) 25. I love Vanguards FMAB builds. FMA is my favourite series behind maybe LOTR and The Witcher. Anyway i haven't seen much RD representation behind Micaiah and Ike so Here's Zelgius Full Name: Zelgius Theobold. Theobold Derives from Germany, and means Brave, Zelgius theme in Radiant Dawn is called 'Zelgius the Brave' He has no Middle name as he is of Common birth and most playable commoners have no middle name. Age: 32 pre timeskip, 37 post timeskip (Looks early 20's due to being Branded) Birthday: 9th of the Red Wolf Moon (November 9th) Born Imperial Year 1148 to unkown parents (one with Laguz Ancestry.) Height: 195 cm 1148 Born to unknown parents In the streets of Enbarr who disowned him due to being Branded. 1168 Lived for 20 years hiding his Branded nature, During this time he would Meet a legendary knight Gawain, who would teach him swordsmanship. He would later meet Duke Sephiran of the Adrestian Enbarr who found out about his branded heritage. Due to Sephiran being the first person to treat him with Kindness despite knowing him to be branded, he swears fealty to Sephiran and becomes his Knight 1171 After Duke Sephiran is arrested and apparantly killed in the Insurrection of the Seven for siding with Emperor Ionus, Zelgius flees Adrestia. 1173 Zelgius enlists himself as a Knight of the Church of Seiros and quickly becomes a high ranking member of the knights due to his skill. 1179 Zelgius is contacted by the alive and in hiding Duke Sephiran. Duke Sephiran tells him about the Adrestian Princess going to Garreg Mach in the next year along with her Plans to reform Adrestia and Fodlan. Zelgius Dons the Black Knight persona and confronts the Flame Emperor, Agreeing to help them Liberate Fodlan. 1180 Appears various times to Byleth and their class as the Black Knight, Assisting the Flame Emperor and TWSITD. Later Joins Byleth as Zelgius the knight of Serios, to help him Defeat Kronya and avenge his Father. Will eventually appear at the Siege of Garreg Mach as the Black Knight. 1181-1184 Will gain Renown as the strongest Knight of Adrestia, being able to take on the most elite of warriors by himself. Will be leading the charge against Fraldarius, Gautier and Galatea territories alongside the Death Knight. Despite fighting for the Empire he is loyal to Sephiran only, who has come out of Hiding to be the current Prime Minister of Adrestia under Edelgards Rule. 1185 Will either Join the Black Eagle Strike Force after Arianrhod is destroyed by the Javelins of Light, Or will fight against the Kingdom/Allience/Church army, joining them after Edelgards defeat, by order of Sephiran in order to eliminate TWSITD (SS) Or will seemingly perish after the battle of Enbarr/Fort Merceus (AM/VW) Status: Knight of Seiros (Pre-Timeskip) The Black Knight of Adrestia (Post-Timeskip) Hobbies: Battle, Training.
