Wait, Dimitri has 15 AS with a speed of 19. That'd be a weight reduction of 4. Meanwhile Sylvain has 8 AS with a Steel Lance(11 Wt) and 16 Spd, so a weight reduction of 3.

... I really don't see the point of hiding con if it exists. Then again it doesn't seem to be stats based either(Dedue has universally worse stats except for Def), nor a class thing since two mercenaries and two cavaliers don't have the same.

Maybe it just doesn't show up on the Level Up/Promotion screen because it's completely static? Most stats can increase with level, while classes have different movement. Also, Dimitri has 15 AS with a Javelin before he levels up, so that's when he still has 18 speed.

  2. I've been looking through more footage to find more Con stats. Sadly, they mostly went straight into battle by selecting the enemies in the Treehouse Presentation, so we don't get a good look at other characters' Attack Speeds. It's a shame, seeing as we could have seen if A, the Con stats are consistent, and B, if M!Byleth has the same Con as F!Byleth. Through the Kotaku footage, we can see that (assuming Combat Arts don't impact AS) Dimitri has a Con of 5 and that Javelin's have 8 weight. Also, while we don't get a specific Con or weight value, it seems that a Steel Bow has 9 more weight than Ashe has Con. Similarly, the Steel Gauntlets weigh Dedue down by 2. We can't be sure, but if the Steel Gauntlets are consistent with the other Steel weapons (they might not be), then they might have 8 weight, which would give Dedue 6 Con, which seems reasonable.

  3. Since Marianne is recruitable, that means Hilda pretty much has to be the second-in-command of the Golden Deer non-recruitable, right?

Edit: The second in command thing was a mistake, apparently, but I think we know of everyone BUT Hilda at this point, let's see...

I don't think I saw that then, thanks.

The description of the Fortress class's weight reduction ability specifically mentions the "total" or "combined" weight of equipment, so speed reduction may not solely depend on what the unit has equipped, but rather all of the weapons they're holding. Or even all the items. Strange to think that we'd get a full encumbrance system for the game that should come closest to having pack-mule squires on the field, but that's what it looks like to me.

That's probably referring to shields, not other items in the inventory.

  5. I used the Treehouse and GameSpot gameplay that we've seen and the weapon weights in pictures in the article, and it seems that whatever lowers the weight effect of weight is less extreme than Con was. Linhardt used a Steel Lance (11 weight) and it reduced his AS by 10, while Byleth used an Iron Lance (6 weight), which reduced her speed by 2. It's possible that Abilities were involved, but I doubt it because the Abilities that lower weight are obviously marked, which none of Byleth's seem to match. This definitely makes the Fortress skill that lowers weight more useful, as even with it Byleth would be weighed down by a Steel Lance.

I feel the same. But then again, it was to be expected. Her description on the facebook site (was it?) mentioned she would get angry if you comment about her size. If that's a major part of her characterization it's sure to come up in support convos, and if you only unlock those after the timeskip it wouldn't really make much sense anymore.

Though this also means that it's kinda unlikely for many characters to really go through drastic personality shifts. I really wonder how it's gonna look for Dimitri in particular …

I'm pretty sure the supports are going to be different post time skip, like how certain events change some supports in Path of Radiance, just to a greater extent.

Like some of their new outfits. Better than the samey student uniforms.

Something weird happened with the formatting.

Anyway, I really like all of them. Caspar especially looks much different than I was expecting. Where did you find this?

According to the video in Spanish, the non-transferable units from each house are:

    Black Eagles:
    Hubert

    Blue Lions:
    Felix
    Dedue

    Golden Deer:
    Marianne

Just what I expected except Marianne. Don't really understand why she's exclusive.

Do we know if that's all the non-transferable characters, or could there be a few others (like Ferdinand, Ingrid, or Hilda)?

Shouldn't the next issues be on the first and third weeks of July?

I don't think there's anything keeping them from being on those dates, so probably. Personally, I hope we see all of the Advanced classes before the game is out, but preferably not any Master classes.

Edit: Don't know what happened there.

That'd be too smart from them. Remember Awakening and Fates "Other units could use legendary weapons being related to them and stuff... but we won't make it so because we're such good games, we're lazy and make stupid mistakes." 😛

But isn't the Sword literaly bound to Byleth, his bloodline, his Kaiser form, anyways ? We're not even sure of Sothis' relationship to the sword.

I say that, but it'd be cool if she could actually wield it if story-wise... she could.

Huh, kind of crazy how such good idea completly went past my head. I mean, it make senses, you have giant ennemies, why not giant allies ?

That's hardly just an Awakening and Fates thing, though. For example, in the Tellius games, only Ike can use Ragnell despite there being nothing special letting him use it while only Elincia can use Amiti despite the fact that a certain other character should be able to as well. Besides, the way they described the Hero Relics in Treehouse implies that other characters with the crest should be able to use the weapon (IE Lysithea should be able to use the Thunder).

I do agree that having Sothis being a giant unit would be great, though.

It seems kind of odd that the defeat condition is "all units fall in battle". It makes me wonder if the Lords/Byleth falling no longer causes a game over, or if repeating "Lord or Byleth falls" as a fail condition would get pointlessly repetitive, so they didn't bother. Is also means that there will be more objectives than just "rout all enemies" or "kill enemy leader" this time around, which I'm pretty sure everyone is happy about. The battle description is great stuff as well, and I'm hoping that they capitalize greatly on the "see the same conflict from different perspectives" aspect that each house could provide.

That's just because it's Casual mode. In the Treehouse presentation, they were playing on Classic mode and it 's clear that both Byleth and the Lord will cause a game over when defeated.

Paladin seems very good, but I'm sad there's no spear infantry (no armour), hopefully the last tier will fix this.

Also no direct Dark Mage promotion? Seems weird, you'd get to use dark magic and then "forget" it, unless Warlock actually has it, if that's the case girls will be able to use it as well (restricting dark mage to male is very stupid anyway).

At least dismounting will be an option (hopefully it won't change the class skills other than Move Again), but I agree.

Some characters (like Lysithea) seem to learn Dark Magic naturally, and I assume that they would still be able to use those spells.

With the addition of these new Crests, we have the names of all Ten Elites.

    • Dominique
    • Fraldarius
    • Daphnel
    • Bladiddyd
    • Gloucester
    • Goneril
    • Gautier
    • Charon
    • Riegan
    • Lamine

Edelgard's Axe doesn't have any of these crests, right? Doesn't that confirm that they'll be more Hero Relics?

I don't know, you think they'd want to avoid that kind of redundancy. It does seem super-weird that Hero is basically Swordmaster from prior games in terms of skills though.

If Bishop and Paladin can share Terrain Resistance, Hero and Swordmaster can share Swordfaire. My guess is that all advanced classes get Faire skills (other than Bishop, which gets an equivalent skill).

    Warlock

Blackmagicfaire - Might +5 when black magic is equipped.
Black Magic Use x2 - Doubles the number of uses of black magic spells.

Does black magic include Dark Magic here? I remember one of the earlier articles mentioned them as being separate.

Wait, Hero IS Male only then? And it has Swordfaire? I guess Female Byleth isn't going to be getting as much use out of the prf sword as Male Byleth then.

Swordmaster will probably have Swordfaire too.
